Two Worlds - Free to play MMORPG

rented this game from Gamefly and it blows hard.

- bad voice acting
- constant framerate issues [ unless there is fog ]
- bad quest system [ i need to go where and do what? ]
- bad compass [ which direction am i facing? ]
- bad menu screens [ overlay instructions cover text beneath it, like how much weight you can carry ]

= graphics aren't that great
= motion captured attacks, but it's the same attack every eff'ing time!

+ backstep button [ short attack combo -> backstep to avoid being hit ]
+ short load times [ although there are plenty of load times when you're running around ]
+ max lvl is 999
+ jumping animation

---

if you want an easy 100 pts in achievements, rent it.

6/10

I thought it was Gamestop/EB's policy to allow you a 7 day trial, you should ask just in case as I'm pretty sure it's company poilcy.
Only on used games.

Actually most people say it sucks because online is completely broken, you get so strong with weapons and gear that you literally buzz thru everything without the slightest hint of danger, and the fact that they are still patching the game trying to fix all the bugs in it.

I got a press copy, but looking for scores to see if I'll even break the seal. SouthPeak has never, in my memory, done ANYTHING worth playing, so it'll be a shocker if this isn't a floater in the video-game toilet.

I signed it out at work and still felt cheated. The game is horrible on so many levels. MAYBE if they iron out all the bugs I'll try it again, though I really don't think it'll help matters. You can shine a turd as much as you want...

In your poll I looked for the option "After the price drops, and only then if the reviews are decent." That's where I stand with Two Worlds.

Aren't they just the publisher on this one? Either way, I'm wondering if the bugs will be fixed in time for it to be playable...

I think it went with the wrong marketing campaign too... Comparing itself to Oblivion (and other reviewers doing the same) probably will do more damage than good.

*shrug* I have it on my list to try... but between Oblivion (STILL playing) and Mass Effect soon... I don't know how much this'll get played. :)

It's not that bad, i'm not gonna go out and say the game is better then Oblivion either though.

The online is broke, lets get that out.

The single player is a refreshing experience. It's actually pretty good story, reminds me of Diablo 2 inventory system.

My major complaint is the quest system, it's hard to know what to do next. Very confusing.

I've actually really enjoyed this game so far. At first I hated it. I told myself, just keep playing for a little longer maybe it will grow on you, and it did. If they actually end up fixing the framerate I might keep it.

I saw this at the store yesterday, and I was like . . . just about to buy it. I even wrote up an article at RPGamer about its release, because I thought that it deserved some attention. All of the readers responded by saying basically exactly what I am going to say:

Then I thought about how, at home, I had Bioshock, Jeanne d'Arc, D&D Tactics (sucks, but I want to finish it), Odin Sphere (also suck buts I'm committed to beating it), the Oblivion expansion, and starting tomorrow, Blue Dragon (I'm a giant japfag, okay?), all sitting at home with very little progress in any of them.

When Two Worlds was scheduled for a July release, it was a day-one purchse, but now, I don't think I'll get to it until 2008. This game, especially with all of the bugs its touted to have, just isn't going to cut it during the Great Avalanche of Fall 2007.

It's also alarming that the publisher didn't send any review copies to review outlets. Maybe they are hoping that by the time a critic buys it at retail and finishes playing through it, they might have a few patches out?

Bingo. During the great drought of early summer myself and most people on my friends list were dying for this, but as soon as it got pushed back it slowly got too close to the wallet vacuum that is the fall. Mediocre games are acceptable when there is nothing else to play, but when they put it in the same timespan as Bioshock, blue dragon(which is mediocre itself but a jrpg none the less), and countless average-upper average releases, there is really no point in getting it now.

Please don't buy this game. This game is horriable. Seriously the frame rate skip makes this game unplayable. It is ugly...not that I judge games only on graphics...but man is this game horrid looking. I spent 30 minutes playing it and will never playing it again. I loved Oblivian and Morrowind. It isn't fair to compare it to them...but compared to anything this game is bad.

Does anyone else smell a plant? I do and it is coming from the OP's direction. I mean everyone I have talked to says this game sucks and then this "Long time Lurker" comes on makes 2 posts in all his time here and the reason he joined was to tell us that Two Worlds didn't suck. I am thinking it was a plant.

Hrm... did threads got merged? Looks to me like Rolento is the OP, and he's not a plant or a mineral... he's a CAG animal!

Yeah, the poll was put into general discussion, moved here, and then ultimately merged with the main thread.

You wanna talk plants? Look at the comments on the lone review that's up for the game so far: http://www.gamealmighty.com/game-review/review/Two_Worlds_Review/
Seems like all the developers/publishers took time to post something countering the negativity in the review.

If they fix the lag issue online this game could be fun.. not 60$ fun, but fun.

I'm almost done beating it, and I have to say the main quest is about 10 hours long. I rushed through it granted, but still weak.

So far, the good and the bad:

+Graphics are much better then people say.
+Awesome inventory and crafting system.
+Combat is fun
+PvP is very promising if they ever fix the lag, otherwise unplayable.

-Worst quest system ever installed in a game, god it's shitty.
-Sidequests are boring, make me want to sleep.
-Way to easy, you can beat the main quest in 10 hours.
-Bows are basically useless (broke?)
-Not enough variety in the game.. very mundane.

I'm forgetting stuff, but yeah. I can't give it a rating because I can't try it online because of the lag. As it stands, this game is a 5/10, if they fix the lag online this could easily be a 7 / 7.5.

Glad I bought it with credit.

I'm not plant and 16+ hours in I can wholeheartedly say I am enjoying the single player for this game a lot more than Oblivion. Five nights in a row I've played until I couldn't keep my eyes open anymore.

There are definitely issues with the MP, but I've had a few people on my FL tell me they have played multiple lag-free games and had a blast.

This game is pretty much the worst thing I've played on the 360. Rented it today and I utterly loathe it. It's laggy, ugly, freezes/skips a ton, and is totally unintuitive.

I buy the Sneak skill, and whatever I do, I can't assign it. It just assigns "Berserk" instead.

fuck this piece of shit game.

5 nights in a row? On just the main quest? No way, unless you're just screwing around exping. I finished it tonight, got 700+ achievement points, and I can say the main quest is terrible. Seriously, I could explain it to you in 2 sentences.

Your sister gets kidnapped, the ransom is a relic your family dispersed throughout the world. You collect the relic for them, kill the boss and save your sister.

And there you have it...

I'll pop it in again once they fix the damn lag on the multiplayer.
5 nights in a row? On just the main quest? No way, unless you're just screwing around exping.
Make it 6 and I'm not exping at all. I'm now 22+ hours in at level 52 and I only have 2/5 parts of the relic. I guess I keep seeing things off in the distance that peak my curiosity and I wander off to explore them. Most of the time that results in a few side quests.

Last night I spent a few hours getting to the final two black towers I could see off in the distance. En route to the first one I ran into two encampments that had quests in them. On the way to the second one I ran into an army of 20+ golems guarding a crapload of treasure chests, two caves, an area full of a new type of dragons (just plain dragons) and a few islands that I had to check out because they were too tempting to pass up.

I don't even think you can get all the achievements in this game. There is one cave in the game, I think it's called Beaver Kettle Cave that trasnports you back to one of the shrines. I thought it was just me, but other people have confirmed it. So that means you can't get Get All Underground(20 points) and Get All Locations(50 points).

I have never wanted to vomit from a game before playing Two Worlds. The jerkyness of the frame rate made me sick. This game deserves all the jeers it gets.

Well, online officially sucks now, between the glitchers and the other pricks. Rumor is the money glitchers are getting deleted in the next few days, but who knows about the weapon thieves.

Last night pretty much ruined it for me. While I didn't have anything stolen, there was one guy in the game, who was insanely strong, most likely a glitcher (I'm a level 31 for crying out loud), and he was just killing everyone else. It got to the point he went to the nearest Maliel shrine and was killing us (one hit from necro power) as we respawned.

If I had my sword stolen (770 slashing, 1600+ fire damage) I would have frickin' cried.

I'm just playing on my own now, until they get this shit fixed.

I absolutely saw that coming, the MP was so sloppy. With all the glitches that were so completely obvious (such as if you trail ghosts into a town they cannot kill it and will engage in a neverending battle which then makes it impossible to start quests or talk to merchants, or important quest items floating 100 feet in the air, impossible to reach) I could imagine how many other glitches there could be.

I got this game in a trade so I decided to try it out today. Is it suppose to be laggy when I am running around (I am playing offline)? If not are there any patches to fix this problem?

After playing for a few hours the game isn't that bad. I would be pissed if I paid full price for it but I got it in a trade. I think I'll stick with it and finish the game.
Got this in the Frys.com bundle, but had no interest in it and was able to exchange it for Halo 3. So a no vote for me.
That was a damned good bundle.

anyone tried the demo? lol

it's great, it drops you off somewhere 10 seconds from a couple goblins. took me a little bit to figure out how to get my sword out and attack them but I get there... and they two shot me. I get rezzed back in some town, I go out in the forest and try attacking some bear... and it one shots me. at this point I'm giving up so I decide to attack a villager before I quit. I'm wailing on him with my sword for a good 15 seconds until he finally turns around... and one shots me. lol

you would think they would try to make their demo a little bit accessible. oh well, I'm still giving it a try, I'll leave it on my rental queue.

ps it felt pretty choppy, that bugged me.

I was considering picking this up if I can find the CE cheap enough. I was wondering if A. people still play this, and B. theres been any patches that clear up alot of the complaints people have?

I picked this game up for $10 at Gamefly and almost threw up all over the floor. It's not even worth the money I spent on it. Poorman's Oblivion my ass!
