CAGiversary!

Hello everybody! Welcome to the official home of the CheapAssGamer Fighting Championship! Brought to you by n8rockerasu! With the release of UFC Undisputed 3, CAGFC is back for its 3rd year of competition! For all intents and purposes, this will be similar to any other online sports league you've been a part of. The difference is, this is man against man. No seasons. No schedules. No AI teammates. No one to blame but yourself.
WHAT IS CAGFC AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
CAGFC is short for Cheap Ass Gamer Fighting Championship. At its core, CAGFC is a league for the Xbox 360 game UFC Undisputed 3. But we strive to exceed the limitations of a typical sports league. Rather than relying on team play or a points system, CAGFC will mimic a real world fighting organization. We use custom fighters that you create in the NON-CAREER portion of the game, and rely on a ranking system based on the fighter's CAGFC record and their current win streak. This allows us to schedule competitive weekly cards, making sure that the right fighters are matched up against each other. We're going to start out small, putting everybody in the same weight class, but with the hope of expanding into other divisions as interest grows.
There is a champion in each division. This champion is required to defend his belt once a week or he will relinquish it and the top two contenders will battle for it (unless he notifies either CAGLeagueSports or n8rockerasu of the absence in advance, so that arrangements may be made). This system allows flexibility, not only for CAGFC, but for its members as well. If you want to take a break from scheduled matches so you can work on your fighter, you're free to do so at any time. Your absence might cause a slip in the rankings, but it doesn't hurt your online career or your standing with CAGFC. This is YOUR fighting career. It's up to you what you make of it.

As stated, we have an on-going sign up here. Anybody who wants to join CAGFC may do so at any time by posting the following fighter information:

Yes, we allow members to compete in multiple weight classes by having multiple fighters. There are four requirements for this, however, which are as follows:
1. Each of your fighters must compete in a different weight class.
2. Like with your original fighter, your additional fighter(s) must be created in the NON-CAREER portion of the game.
3. Members will be limited to a maximum of 3 created fighters. By competing in multiple weight classes and having multiple fights per week, it increases your level of responsibility to CAGFC and the other fighters. The more fighters you add, the greater the risk for fights going uncompleted and simply cluttering the weight division. We feel that having 3 fighters is enough for anyone to feel very active in CAGFC.
4. Before adding an additional fighter, each of your current fighters must have 2 CAGFC fights. For example:
Fighter A - Can be added at initial sign up
Fighter B - Can be added once Fighter A has 2 fights
Fighter C - Can be added once Fighter B has 2 fights
By meeting these requirements, you will demonstrate that you can handle controlling multiple fighters in CAGFC and will be rewarded with a very active and enjoyable experience. Thank you for your cooperation!

Weekly cards will be posted on Fridays, with the deadline for those fights being the following Thursday at 11:59 PM EST. All fighters will be put on the card unless CAGLeagueSports or n8rockerasu is notified in advance that you do not wish to fight that upcoming week. Any fighter who is placed on a card will either have to fight or forfeit and receive a loss. If you miss a fight, your participation in the league will be reviewed, and you may not appear on another card until your activity in the thread increases. Lower ranked fighters will fight other lower ranked fighters, with continuous opportunities to move up in the rankings. The top 3 contenders will be eligible for a title shot at any time.
Title fights should be set up by the defending champion and set for a length of 5 ROUNDS.
The results of your fights should be posted in this thread by both the winner and the loser (to maintain accuracy) in the following format:
Winner | Loser | Method (ie. KO, TKO, submission, unanimous decision, split decision) | Time/Round

UFC Undisputed 3 Game Info
You knew this was coming! All right, maybe some of you did. Others are probably like "WTF? There's a UFC game?" After a year and a half hiatus, UFC Undisputed 3 will be hitting shelves on Feb. 14th (Happy Valenti...SUPERMAN PUNCH!!!). For those of you who have been around, naturally, this got me thinking about CAGFC again.
For those of you who are unfamiliar, CAGFC was our reasonably successful fighting league for the previous two UFC Undisputed games. We started off strong with UFC Undisputed 2009, featuring weekly cards, spanning across all five (at the time) weight classes, and had 15 continuous weeks of fighting.
UFC Undisputed 2010 saw us face some challenges. The game itself had some major issues, with even connecting to the server being a chore during the first couple months. Once you were connected, online play was often laggy, had features from the previous year removed, and had a submission system that was very cheap. STILL, we made it through 10 cards and even had some fun along the way.
Here's a link to the old CAGFC thread for anyone who wants to check it out.
http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=260073
Fans of the series voiced their disappointment to THQ, and the developer decided to take a year off and give themselves some extra time to overhaul to the game. SO FAR, the game looks to be greatly improved. Whether or not it's worthwhile to restart CAGFC, however, is not only going to depend on community interest here on CAG, but whether the online play is actually reliable and fair. A demo is supposed to be coming out very soon, so we can just see how things go. Anyone who wants to weigh in on the game, CAGFC, or anything MMA related, feel free. At the least, this can be a thread to share info about the game.

Top 10 New Features
10. Owwie!
Leg Kicks were a problem in prior games. They never did significant damage, but also couldn't be defended. They didn't truly represent how leg kicks are used in MMA.
UFC 3 has solved both of these problems. Leg kicks can now do enough punishment to get a TKO, but can also be "checked" as a defense. This feature adds more complexity to the striking and new techniques for the game.

9. Stop Wiggling!
Adding ground sways to the game takes away some of the advantage of picking a "Ground and Pound" fighter. In Undisputed 2010, if you were on the ground on bottom, the most you could do was hold block and try and stand up.
In Undisputed 3, being able to move side to side will help bide some time and may frustrate opposing players enough to try a new tactic. This is another step at adding realism and complexity to the game franchise.

8. Quit It! Let Me Up!!!
The Octagon is synonymous with MMA and the UFC. Fighting in a cage adds many ground aspects that aren't possible in a traditional boxing ring.
Undisputed 2010 used the cage effectively with clinches, takedowns and wall walks. Having new sitting positions and transitions just add to the experience of the game and make the cage more of a tool then the fighting boundaries.

7. WTF??? Why Is My Guy Getting Tired?
Two new game modes have been added to Undisputed 3 in the form of Stamina Simulation Mode and Competition Mode. Developers of the game have described how this will give gamers the option to play how they want to.
Stamina Simulation Mode is being described as a more realistic experience to a true UFC fight. Kicks and takedowns can't be thrown around constantly without using up a lot of stamina. Damage will also be increased so gamers will have to take their time and play more strategically.
Competition Mode is going the opposite direction by creating a "Street Fighter" or "Mortal Kombat" process to a match. Not much has been said about this mode but it may get rid of knockouts and stamina depletion to show who can win a time length fight.

6. How Am I Supposed To Win If My Fighter Isn't The Best???
This option is long overdue and will be great for playing one on one with friends. No longer will a roommate be able to complain about how he only lost because of the fighter he chose. George St. Pierre and Anderson Silva will no longer be virtually invincible.
Equalizing stats will create an even fight that eliminates any advantage besides move-set and the gamers ability.

5. But I'm Really Good At Rotating Sticks...
The submission system in UFC Undisputed 2010 wasn't the worst thing in the world. Most gamers were used to circling the right stick with takedowns and transitions that it made sense for it to be the same with submissions.
The problem came with how submissions were weighted in the game. Trying to submit an opponent in the game was nearly impossible even with max stats and a gassed opponent. Conversely, if you were even a little down on stamina the computer could easily submit you.
This seemed like it would be an easy fix, but THQ has redone the system so an animation appears on the screen for a submission that players circle icons around. This may distract from the realism of the game, but will hopefully aid with submissions being used more effectively.

4. Look At Me Now!
The UFC is one of the most entertaining showcases in sports. Part of that entertainment is fighters showing their personalities through unique entrances. Fighters can do this with a distinct song, a country's flag or a hockey goalie mask and throwing money in the air if you're Jason "Mayhem" Miller.
Entrances add the the excitement of a fight and will add to the excitement of the video game. Hopefully THQ will give more than a few generic entrances and let songs be uploaded to the game.

3. Dream Fight!
In one of the video Q and A's added to the ufcundisputed.com site, the question came up of switching fighter's weightclasses to set up superfights. Because of regulations with the UFC, this will not be an option, but the game developer did specify St. Pierre being added to the Middleweight class.
In my opinion, there is only one real reason for this... So gamers can play St. Pierre versus Anderson Silva. It is one of the most desired and argued over fights in UFC history. They are considered to be the top two pound for pound fighters in MMA today, and having the ability to put them against each other is a great addition to the game.

2. New Fighters!
Madden, the NBA 2K series and countless other sports franchises add another game each year which is bought up in millions. In many cases, the only significant changes are better graphics and updated rosters.
In the case of UFC Undisputed 3, they are adding many prominent fighters who were not apart of UFC Undisputed 2010. The contender's pack (available with pre-order from Gamestop) will include fighters like Nick Diaz and Phil Davis who could be champions in the next year.
New fighters also include the additions of the Bantamweight and Featherweight classes.

1. PRIDE!!!
The best new aspect to the Undisputed franchise as of now is "Pride Mode". The best equivalent I can think of for this is when Subway restaurants doubled their menu by offering to toast all subs. Pride Mode is featuring an all star roster of legends and enough soccer kicks to make Shogun blush.
Pride could have easily been a game on its own released later, but UFC is mixing it into Undisputed. Pride rules will not just be in exhibitions but can also apart of the Career Mode. The new mode is a great tribute to Pride Fighting Championship and the great fighters in the sport. Pride mode also gives gamers the ability to recreate classic fights, put legends against modern fighters or see how UFC fighters would perform with Pride rules.
