Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - (use spoiler tags please)

Yeah, no problem. It sounds like you're pretty hype, so I don't blame you. We've seen bits of that part and it does look spectacular, but I want the whole experience to be a fresh as possible! :)
They've done too much work with the PS3 to just switch to the PSP for a couple of years, so I'd bet that one of Sony's stable of PSP developers (High Impact, Sony Bend, or maybe even the epic return of Ready at Dawn?) would do the adaptation.
True. I was just hoping for one game from them though. It's a good thing the other developers have all done great jobs on moving Sony's IPs to PSP. It would be awesome if Naughty Dog did one PSP game between ending PS3 development and starting full time on PS4, but it would probably not be worth it financially unless dd make inroads.

Stopped at my GS today, the guy said they aren't doing a midnight release so I canceled my PO. I'll just snag it at TRU next week as part of their B2G1 sale.

Finally played the beta today. fucking amazing! The ice cave map (I think) is horrible, but the others aren't too bad and the gameplay is addicting as hell.

yeah im not a fan of the ice cave either used to hate the temple too but now its one of my favorite areas ( easy to sneak up on people in).
Any word on how many multiplayer maps are gonna be included in the game?
7 maps in the retail game, with more on the way as DLC according to Kotaku.

Played a Deathmatch game last night and it was pretty damn fun. I can see losing some series hours online between that and the co-op.
Thats kind of low. What about weapons? Any word on there being more weapons in the multiplayer in the full game?
Welcome to the Age of DLC and Fragmented User Base.

7 maps is good enough for me. I actually dislike games with shitloads of maps because it makes it harder to memorize them and learn their secrets.

I do hate that. Rather than waste money on DLC I just move onto another game .

To be honest, I didn't even know there was a multiplayer included with the game until not too long ago. So I see it as an added bonus, a really awesome and well implemented added bonus.

Ice Cave is so poorly balanced for Plunder it made me wonder what they were thinking when they put it together.

The villains generally get stuck fighting uphill, plus it's significantly easier to throw the idol off a cliff (and cause it to respawn in the middle) near their chest. Nothing insurmountable, but noticable in a close game.

People always want a TON of maps, but they generally stick to one or two. I would however like more COOP maps - but I'm glad they didn't pour all their resources in trying to come up with different maps and focused on SP. Because, MP is something you can add to SP you cannot.

I was hoping for maybe 9 or 10 maps but you do make a good point about memorizing the maps. I have the 4 in the beta pretty well down now. Shouldn't take too much longer to get up to speed with the other 3.

I'm pretty much the same when it comes to DLC. Haven't bought a map back for any game. Besides, I will most likely be done with UC2 by the time the DLC comes out. Not that I don't expect to love the game, but when Tekken 6 comes out, I'm sure that's all I will be playing for a while.

Not sure if this is known info. But the COOP levels are longer then the U2 DEMO makes them out to be. The COOP level (in the demo) is only half of the actual level.
Dude, the Uncharted 2 event (at Muvico) was friggen amazing. They had awesome food and we got to see four different single player gameplay (un-friggen-believable). And there was a tournament (10 game console infront of the big screen and it was viewable on the movie theater screen). I was team captain and my team came in 3rd (out of about 12 teams)- so we won a signed UNCHARTED 2 poster (signed by everyone that worked on it). We would have won first, but I lost the coin toss which made us have to play two times at the end.

But the BEST part - I got a copy of Uncharted 2! For free! Woohoo. This game is insane. The footage looked ridiculous. Best game of all time I say.

(I'll post pics of the event if anybody wants)
I was actually thinking about driving to Chicago for the event on Tuesday after hearing about people getting copies of the game at the events on Monday. 600 mile round trip would have cost me about $35 with my car getting around 40 mpg highway. Would have been a fun road trip and I would have gotten the game a week early. Yes, I am insane. :D
GameSpot review gave it a phenomenal (but lower than MGs4 and GTA4 zomg :p) 9.5!
Both those games were overrated in my opinion. I fully expect UC2 to top them both.

So there's 3 levels total in the retail game, and they're roughly twice as long as the level in the beta?

That seems pretty short.

Yea... but, hopefully this is just a solid base and they will expand on it. They are still great fun.

DarkNessBear, I have to thank you. Because of you, I will not be purchasing Uncharted 2. The severe lack of multiplayer variety and co-op missions has let me know that this isn't the game I thought it'd be. Instead, I'll just rent it and beat the single player.

Thanks again, you saved me like $50.

Yea definitely a good rental. If you are only in it for the COOP it isn't worth it. And also, if you did not like Uncharted 1 - you'll probably not have that great of a time with U2. But, a rental is a good idea if you are in that boat.

Finished the game!

Awesome, awesome. Go to the midnight launch and play it already! And don't look up any of the footage. Play it all for yourself.

Time + Difficulty (no story spoilers):
Around 9 hours and on normal. I forgot that Crushing does not unlock unless you beat it on hard, so I regret it... But the game is hard as shit

I'll be spoiler tagging anything I say regarding the game. So don't worry.

thanks for the reminder on unlocking crushing.

I don't think you need spoiler tags for the time played and difficulty you played on. :D Anyway, that's around what the first Uncharted took me to finish on normal. I did a lot of searching for treasures so I probably took longer than most. Did you search for stuff or just play through?

I know it's a little off topic but here's something I came across regarding the earlier discussions in this thread that some people might find interesting. For me, the article just confirms my beliefs about the whole controversy but others may get something else out of it.

By the way, if anyone is actually able to purchase an early copy of Uncharted 2, could you please tell us what store you bought it from.
Does anyone's Amazon preorder still list the shipping date as the 19th? Or is that just me.
Mine says: "Delivery Estimate: October 13, 2009".

To the people that have played it: I thought the gunfighting in the first one ruined the game. It was so constant and the lack of ammo and extremely aggressive AI made it so frustrating. Are the gunfights in UC2 like this? How often are they compared to the first, where you took 2 steps and had one.

If you ran around aimlessly gunning at the enemies in the first game, than naturally you're not going to have much ammo. If you weren't getting headshots, then a good 2-3 bullets + melee usually did the trick.

I never had an issue with ammo in the first game since I'd search amongst the bodies for ammo after big fights or contemplated switching to other weapons if I felt they were needed, but there is a ton of ammo around in Uncharted 2, especially if I'm not using an AK-47 or the standard pistol.

I like how they improved the bonuses section in this game.
Instead of going by an achievement system to dictate when things unlock like the first game, you earn money when you earn a medal (not all of them are trophies) that can be spent on whatever bonuses are available. Stuff like weapons and skins are locked until you complete the game, but there are things like bonus videos and filters are open right off the bat. At about 35% into the game, I've bought everything I can and am just earning more money to grab the art galleries when I get past the chapters they require and anything else that unlocks when beaten. Some mention that they're free once I meet the criteria, which usually seems to be to beat the game.

game reviewing is prety much dead i havent trusted anyones opinion on a game since the days of sushi-x. its all too damn biased now and you can pretty much see who is on the take and who isnt ( in some form or fashion). itd be nice to find a review site that gave unbiased reviews but its better and pretty cheap to just rent a game if youre not sure about it or watch a few videos.

Can somebody that has the retail game confirm if there's a free-for-all online mode, or clan support, or spectating in a custom game (exceeds 10 player limit)

I thought the response was pretty good. People are just too pissy about nothing these days. The guy said his peace and it makes total sense. 9.3 or 3.9 I am still getting this game.

Never had a problem with ammo in UC1 either, played it on hard and wished it was slightly more difficult. Playing it on crushing now. Loved the gunfights and wished there were more. While the platforming was fun it did feel a little too linear, particularly the climbing.

It does seem odd for him to single out UC2 as not doing anything new. Wasn't Gears 2 just more of the first and that game got a 9.5. UC2 graphics got a bigger leap than that series as well as it's game features. I hope sales are large enough so that there's always a ton of people to play online for at least 2 years.
