Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - (use spoiler tags please)
Can somebody that has the retail game confirm if there's a free-for-all online mode, or clan support, or spectating in a custom game (exceeds 10 player limit)
It is kind of hard to determine specific online details due to there not being too many people online. But, for the most part is is identical to the Multiplayer demo.
I never had an issue with ammo in the first game since I'd search amongst the bodies for ammo after big fights or contemplated switching to other weapons if I felt they were needed, but there is a ton of ammo around in Uncharted 2, especially if I'm not using an AK-47 or the standard pistol.

I like how they improved the bonuses section in this game.
Instead of going by an achievement system to dictate when things unlock like the first game, you earn money when you earn a medal (not all of them are trophies) that can be spent on whatever bonuses are available. Stuff like weapons and skins are locked until you complete the game, but there are things like bonus videos and filters are open right off the bat. At about 35% into the game, I've bought everything I can and am just earning more money to grab the art galleries when I get past the chapters they require and anything else that unlocks when beaten. Some mention that they're free once I meet the criteria, which usually seems to be to beat the game.
Yes, I totally agree that the bonus unlocking is much nicer then in Uncharted 1. Although, I had a flippin ton of money near the end of the game - don't know why you need that much.

Also, about difficulty - and I could just suck. But, I thought the game was fricken hard. Beware playing on hard the first time through.
To the people that have played it: I thought the gunfighting in the first one ruined the game. It was so constant and the lack of ammo and extremely aggressive AI made it so frustrating. Are the gunfights in UC2 like this? How often are they compared to the first, where you took 2 steps and had one.
Seriously just play on Easy or Very Easy the first time through. Once you've done that, and enjoyed the story. Go back and play it on Hard. I've replayed some parts on easy and it is much more enjoyable at times like that.

I just played the MP beta of UC2 and it convinced me to wait. Four outta the five matches that I played had extremely heavy spawn camping even though I played w/ different people every time. I have and enjoyed the first Uncharted but I think I'll pass on this game for now.

I haven't had much trouble with the spawns. Sometimes they are a little wonky but for the most part the spawn me on the map completely opposite where most of the enemies are.

Same here. I'm level 32 and I've only been killed shortly after spawning a handful of times.

yea I've been pleasantly surprised with the lack of problems I've had with spawning. It
does a great job of picking a "fair" place to re-spawn me each and every time

i dont know if any of you noticed this but if you hold down the x or jump button you do your taunt. been trying to figure that out since i first tried it but didnt see it anywhere.

This is not in a mean way: You got your ass kicked in a few games and now you aren't getting it? That is an odd reason.

It's odd, but isn't though at the same time. Most games aren't fun until you are good at them. Like fighting games, if you suck and play with your friends and get constantly owned - you will not have any fun. But if you are the one owning, it is the best game ever.

I found that out by accident while trying to go up a half ladder . Wasn't close enough and I kept taunting, then got shot. Is there another way to switch weapons other than using the d-pad? It works well, but in gunfights it would be nice to have another button so you can still dodge while switching.

they say if you tap triangle it will switch your weapons.

Did you know that if you log in and play a match game this weekend you are entered for a drawing for the special edition?

Agh, these guys scare me on the fate of the gaming industry. They ding Uncharted 2 for not "being original" and that there was no zany things like in Mario Galaxy, "no upside down puzzles". What the heck is this shit? So games cannot evolve? They have to create entirely new genres every step of the way?

Gah, I'm not interested in that sort of view on the gaming industry.

Gametrailers is trash for any kind of decent journalism, they even go out of their way to spoil games in their reviews. Go there to watch cool video trailers, don't go there for reviews or news.

That said, someone said there's a Very Easy difficulty in Uncharted 2? Can anyone confirm this?

I have friends and family who love Uncharted, but are absolutely not shooter gamers, they want to play through the game but can't even make it through on Easy since Uncharted 1 can be quite a tough game for casual players.

Originality is overrated to me. The two games he mentioned, Little Big Planet and Super Mario Galaxy, were games that could not hold my interest. I bought SMG, played it for a few hours and never went back to it. Played the LBP demo, thought it was ok and something I might pick up for cheap but I definitely was not blown away.

Anyway, in the end they DID praise UC2 highly so I think people are just getting worked up over nothing. Besides, it's rather silly to get so worked up over the score that a game gets when there is so much other stuff going on in the world. Play the game, enjoy it and be grateful.

Yea, being worked up over a score is ridiculous. I was just annoyed by their statement that a game can never get a ten if it is not entirely original like, "Mario Galaxy". Originality is great and helps move the industry, but if a game also evolves a genre in a new polished direction and improves on everything conceivable, I don't see why that should not deserve proper praise. I just don't agree with that attitude.

Yup. You can still die - but the auto lock on when you aim near an enemy is helpful. And frequent checkpoints help.

Does anybody have the revenge attribute? I pre-ordered at Gamestop and they didn't have the bonus card so I'm not sure if it's worth going out of my way for it. And I'm not sure whether it's only available through GS or whether the card just lets you get it early.

I really liked gamespot's review on U2 if anybody hasn't checked it out already.

I'm just dumbfounded how this guy didn't say anything about how great U2's graphics are when that's what the game show-cased the most.

Also, it was sick when he threw the grenade on the train, but the train shifted and the grenade almost landed off the train.

Well I will agree somewhat w/ the second part of your post but I will disagree w/ the first part. Yes we ( and I say we cause it's a team based MP) did get our asses handed to us in a few games but I did not base my decision on the outcome of the matches. I did fairly well myself even when I was on the losing end but like I said in most of the matches there was too much spawn camping. Yes the opposite team had higher ranks and all which lead me to believe these guys obviously knew where we would spawn and it was never one guy spawn camping it was usually 2 & at times 3 guys. I was trying to decide wether to get this or Fallout 3 GOTY to hold me over until 11-10-09 and the MP in UC 2 and the deal I got on Fallout 3 for 40.00 made the decision much easier.
You drop a grenade when you die, if I remember right.
damn thats a fucking waste then i already do that on my own thanks for the info though.

For close kills that revenge booster could help. I'm sure most of the time you'll be able to dodge it, but a few extra kills per match with that is possible. I doubt they would implement it if it didn't do it the right way. It will definitely make matches have more action and chaos. I wonder what other boosters there are.
damn thats a fucking waste then i already do that on my own thanks for the info though.
I try to too if I have a grenade left, most of the time I don't though and it is hard to drop it in the right place as I am dying.
^I TRY to do that, but somehow it seems like my left trigger button always stops working when I'm getting gunned down :bomb:
just lightly tap the grenade button just as you know youre about to die the majority of the time it will land right near you and kill them. especially when people go in for a physical kill ( hiting you with their weapon) theres this one hitch where they come foward at you in a lurching motion and even if they kill you they will go back to that spot they lurched from and the grenade will go off.

just be prepared to get cursed out for it people tend to hate when you do that shit lol. just practice with the grenades you will get to the point that you can tell where and how far it will go depending on how hard you press it.
Mine says: "Delivery Estimate: October 13, 2009".
Are you just using their free super saver shipping?

I'm getting it the 13th because I have Prime and get free release date delivery.

Trakan is probably right. I also am getting release date shipping (with Prime). That's probably why it says 13th for us.

I(and others) have found those shipping dates on FSSS preorders may just be set like that to cover their own ass/provide an estimate of when it'll get shipped by.

I preordered Demon's Souls with FSSS, no Prime, and Amazon initially told me the shipping date was the 13th. They ended up getting me the game by last Friday. So YMMV.

Does anybody know what carrier amazon uses for Release-Day delivery? I've heard both FedEx and UPS from different sources. Is it whoever is dominant in the area?

I just got my shipping confirmation from Amazon for delivery tomorrow. UPS for me. Really excited to play this after just finishing Uncharted this past week.

I preordered uncharted 2 from amazon using release date shipping, and it currently says the game is "shipping soon" it's been doing that since this morning. I really hope it ships today.

I've always received my release date shipping from UPS

Mine says the same thing....I think they just have to get it out by afternoon for the overnight delivery though.
Amazon would most likely ship all copies of U2:AT ordered before its launch together (most cost efficient way)... at least I hope so with my FSSS.
I hope so too. It says I won't actually get the game until 10/26-10/30.

It (probably) will, but even so your package will likely be much farther along its way to you than Amazon says it is at any given time. That has been my experience with their release date delivery in the past.

Woo hoo! Just got a text message from gamestop telling me that my Uncharted 2 preorder will be available tommorow. Why can't this game come out on a weekend?...
BOOOOOOO!!!! the demo expired....i wanted to play it tonight
Just discovered this too. I thought the contest was supposed to run through today? Pretty weak.
