Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - OUT NOW - Trophy Patch Released!

Cool video thanks for posting!

I hope the release date got moved up to next week that would be great BUT damn Assassins Creed and this all in a week. Not to mention CoD4 from this week which the MP is addictive as fuck and the huge title the week after on the other lil system... What is a gamer to do?
Why am I not surprised that Insomniac, Naughty Dog, and Sucker Punch (with Infamous) are going to get me to buy a Playstation 3? Sounds like Uncharted takes the best parts of Tomb Raider, Gears of War, and Prince of Persia, and mixes them together with great A.I. and amazing graphics.
How is it like Prince of Persia? (THis is a serious question, I have never played POP before and have never heard this analogy so I find it interesting)
Probably the climbing around and platforming parts.

Oh, and go play PoP. Some of the best games of last gen.
Love to, but no time. :(

Gotta say, somehow this game was entirely off my radar but played the demo a bit last night and was really hooked. Not the type of game I normally enjoy but this seems incredibly well executed...

It's not likely since even the PR Manager for the game doesn't know about it, though we'll have to see if she needs to work on her skills or not next week.
The computers at work (Gamestop) are saying it's shipping the 15th as well. Which really wouldn't be too surprising. Both Lair and Ratchet came out earlier than their original release dates.

The thing that makes me doubt it is that Gamefly hasn't changed the release date, which since they're always on the ball before anybody else on these changes, it doesn't look that likely to me. I'd like to have it earlier so I could play it more before I head home for Thanksgiving next week.

If Uncharted comes out next week, my wallet will commit suicide.

Super Mario Galaxy, Assassin's Creed and Uncharted...

::goes into a financial coma::

Or, you could, I dunno, not be so impatient and just wait for 1 or 2 of those to drop in price.

I'm not sure if I want it to come out this week. It is my most wanted game this year, but I want enough time to enjoy Assassins Creed.

I have a bad feeling about Assassins Creed, video fo it I have seen does not look good.
It's been getting great reviews though, so I'm expecting it to be great.
True, I don't know, the group combat just looked so boring.... plus I am not a fan of sandbox games so I won't be getting it.

I'll take the dive on that game just because it's going to be $39.99 at Fry's :p

The only problem I have with the demo is that;

I can't stop playing it, and I'm scared i'll get sick of it if I play it to much. Already played through it like 4 times. Trying to hold myself.

Oh boy, you went from not wanting to play it to playing it to much...

Hmm I don't know what happened but I think I went the other way :\
I went from really wanting it, to after having played the demo once, not playing it again...

I think I don't really care for the combat aspect much. The running and jumping however is still kinda fun. And the animation and wet drake effect is fun to look at too.

I'm in love with this game's animation. In prior games of this type, if they had a lot of animation, the controls would feel sluggish because they'd have to wait for the animations to play through. With all the blending, Nate looks really lifelike when moving around.

On top of the control to animation success, the animations of all enemies are really cool. It's just fun to watch all the things they do.

Yea, because of that reason. I knew if I played it I could not stop myself. I've been being strong and have stopped playing it. But I can't wait for it to come out.

Next friday is Uncharted day. Me and my GF don't have work and were just gonna play it all day.

Just a heads up, the Uncharted demo supports rumble! (as does the Rachet & Clank demo)

Just played through it with my new Dual Shock 3 and I'm DYING to play the rest of the game now!

I think I went the other way too. This was at the top of my list, but I think it just fell a spot or two.

Way too much combat. This is like a 3rd person shooter! I was pumped about the exploration/tomb raider aspects, not fighting.

I also found the combat kind of clunky. It maybe needed a 'lock-on' button like the syphon filter games...

I am going to retry the demo on easy, maybe you fight won't have to take on an entire infantry division on easy. That may bump game back up on my list.

Other than that, game looks great, animations are good too.

Don't worry, I think Snow will at least give it a rent, and a buy later if he likes it. He said it dropped down a few notches, not that it was no longer in consideration.

One thing to remember is that this demo is trying to capture the US market, and we're strangely drawn to any and all shooter type games here.

They should release a second demo after the game is released that promotes the game's platforming and puzzle solving.

I should also mention that if you turn he difficulty down to easy, far less enemies spawn per area, and it'll only take 3 pistol shots to kill one.

One thing I like about this game is that, so far, there are no sequences involving timed button presses. This way I can sit back and enjoy watching the cutscenes and the excellent animation in them.

Dallow, What is your in? Have you played a build of the game, or just from what you have read?

I still haven't tried lower difficulty, but Vanigan's comment suggest that it will likely give me what I want.

Just reviews from people who've beaten the review builds of the game.

One of the guys I trust said it's about 65 exploration, 35 shooting.

Didn't understand the hype until I played the demo. Doesn't necessarily do anything new (from what I've seen so far) but it does it very well. Controls were tight and the camera worked perfectly.

Yep, I think we had the innovation argument above, but the key isn't what this game does new, it's how well this game does gameplay elements from other games. The only "new" thing comes in how the elements are blended together with the setting, story, and characters.

Great to hear. I enjoyed the demo immensely, but I did think it was very focused on the gun-based combat. The shooting was fun, but what interested me about this game was the exploration. I'm hoping for more variety in the combat as well, a greater emphasis on the hand-to-hand stuff in the full version. Cannot wait to get my hands on this one.

Well, I finally played the demo and loved it....pretty fun game. I may eventually have to get this...probably not at launch, but eventually.

I played again on easy. For some reason I died about 10 times completing it. The first time through I played on Normal, and only died once... go figure.

Even on easy, they still throw the gauntlet at you. I am a wait and see on this now. Probably going to move Ratchet up the list on this one, as my 8 year old can also watch me play this....

OT:
Speaking my my 8yr old, 'skate' has the same parental rating as this... kind of weird that blowing people away, and taking death taunts from ruffians is on par with crashing a skate board.

i can't even beat the demo :(

and i was on easy too... However, the gameplay is very smooth, i love it!

Man, you gotta shoot the bad guys three times for them to die, even i shoot them in the head... Same thing if you're using the automatics (M16?).

Since i kinda run out of "ammo" (spent way too much money this month), i'm gonna sit this one out a bit. If there's a promotion, sigh, release week for me...

IGN Review - 9.1

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/834/834931p1.html

"But pinning so much on one title pretty much guarantees a letdown, doesn't it? Can Naughty Dog live up to more than a year of mouthwatering coverage and placate fans who forked over $600 to see stellar title after stellar title come out on non-PS3 platforms?

Yes. Yes, it can. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is the most fun I've had in a videogame this year."
Game of the year? Nope. Damn fun game? Yep.
Speak for yourself :p

I'm sure it will be mine (and at least a few other CAG's) GOTY.

If you mean the general GOTY you're right, that'll go to an FPS

Yeah, I meant general GOTY.

Wow, he makes some bold statements:

"Say what you will about the PS3, but Uncharted isn't just a standout for Sony -- it's a standout for gaming as a whole."

I still have to wonder if its gonna live up to the hype. The lack of multiplayer is the only reason I'm cautious to buy instead of rent.

I'm still surprised that the claims of high hype, as I've barely heard jack. Maybe I'm not visiting the right forums?

I wouldn't say its been as hyped as Liar or Heavenly Sword were but I'd say there's been a fair amount of buzz regarding it. I, specifically, was speaking of that specific review as far as hype goes though.

So am I, as I was surprised that IGN mentioned the game was hyped as the last hope for PS3 people for the year (obviously). The most I've seen it mentioned, in terms of hype, pales in comparison to games like COD4, Mass Effect, and Lair.
