Holy god that is serioulsy the best news ive read all day.

Can not wait for this to come out.. I know some stupid ass store will break street date..
Well it doesn't mention the PS3 version, I think that is the PC...?

I just don't believe that there isn't going to be PC to PS3 play... I got a feeling that its going to come... maybe after the release date. Damn... PC to console... has that ever been done? PS3 vs PC... online.. oh I'd love to kick PCs asses.

If I read you right, there has been 2 games that I know of where PC and console gamers play together online.

Phantasy Star and FF:XI - what's even odd is that both were on the PS2.

Again guys, be careful. That link is from October 10th and doesn't mention anything about the PS3 so their might not be ONLINE Coop on the system.

And the reason they gave why PC/PS3 users couldn't play together is because they didn't want PC users to have to wait for updates to be approved by Sony. They can make patches and upload them right away for PC's, but the PS3 patch would have to go though a process that could take days/weeks.

Games like FF don't get as many quick tweaks like games like Unreal. Though I still think if they really wanted to make it happen, Sony would do something to help them get the process done faster.

Quick question, I have a Logitech MX1000 USB mouse/keyboard. Can I just plug them into my ps3 to be able to use kb/m or do I need a bluetooth keyboard/mouse?

I am almost postive a normal USB keyboard and mouse will work. Every other general USB device will work.

Didn't realize how soon this game is coming out.

Might go preorder tomorrow since GS is doing the extra 30% for tradeins thing.

I use a MX700 set and it works with the PS3 nicely. You can plug the station into the USB port and it should work right away. You can use it to type and move the mouse in the PS3's broswer.

Within UT3, there might be some settings you'll need to apply but it should be very fast and simple.

It will suck that I'll have to keep reconnecting and disconnecting the charging dock when I want to switch between my ps3 and computer though..

Question:

Will this game support 1080i? I know most new games support it but you just never know.
Question:

Pretty sure the norm now is to upscale to 1080i instead of downscaling to 480p these days if you don't have 720p. Progressive is better for gaming but if 1080i is all you have then you should be fine.
Didn't Quake 3 (Dreamcast) have cross-platform play too?
Yes, but that was a bit backwards. Sega offered the Dreamcast version of the game for PC players to join Dreamcast players after both were already out. Only problem is you had to have a PC version that was lower then the current patch. Don't think you could patch or it wouldn't work, which is kind of the same issue Midway is trying to avoid this time.

okay, but would this be the first FPS? People with PC think they're part of the ultimate elite squad of FPS games... would love to play them.

No.

As mentioned above, Quake 3 (Dreamcast) and Shadowrun (360) both had cross-platform play.
People with PC think they're part of the ultimate elite squad of FPS games.
Because the PC has the ultimate elite FPS games.
I wouldn't trust QJ.net or SPOnG.
I hope it's BS, Unreal has always been about chaos, why would they go against the nature of their own game to "accommodate" a console release version?

Not sure I believe it. I mean, slower frame rate, yeah, I can see that. But slowing down the gameplay? Just doesn't make much sense. Hopefully it's not true, because ya'll shouldn't be getting a half-assed version of this excellent game. And with KB+M support, I'm not sure why they would even make this claim.

I've seen previews from other sites who have said the game plays basically the same and matches the PC version so I don't really believe this.

Preview from 1up posted yesterday from EGM.

Turns out we were lying: Resistance fans will feel right at home with UT3. The two games share the exhilarating speed (though UT3 is undeniably faster) and nonstop action that uniquely defines their multiplayer experiences. Each also has a taste for strange and ridiculous weapons with alternate-fire options that provide dozens of options for any given combat situation.

Dropped my $5 down at GS today so i'll be picking this up at launch. Usually i'd get this kinda game on the 360 so it's nice to have something new to play on my PS3. Will have to dump this version and crush 360 noobs and my friends when that version comes out next year. :D

I've been going to Funcoland on Mall Rd in Florence lately. We have tons of Gamestops but tons of assclowns working them at least on this end of town. Every time I go into the Funcoland I mentioned theres a big girl working who is amusing from all the crap she talks whenever I go in so I just use her...

according to a guy that's been testing this game (on gamefaqs) the game does scale to 1080i.

Yeah liek I said, that is basically common place these days and not an issue like it was at launch over a year ago.

So from that video it is looking more and more like the PS3 version might be the one to have.

Anyone know if their stores are gettting them early?

I pre-ordered at GS, so I might have to wait a bit longer. Found an edge card with $50 on it so main reason I'm getting there and am willing to wait a day or so.

I'm still on the fence about the game. Not sure how much I'll play it online and that's pretty much the only reason to play it, right?
... that's pretty much the only reason to play it, right?
I would say so. The camPAIN is looks to basically be a bot version of the online mode with "cheesy one liners" to "help" recreate the online experiance.

there seems to be no buzz about this game...i was looking at the dec. 9 to dec. 15 deals thread in the vg deals forum and unreal isn't even listed..yikes.

I canceled my outpost pre-order since they're OOS. I'll wait and see if this is worth picking up.
I thought the single player game actually has a story to it.
It does, but it's just a storyline that ties together bot matches. The bots are excellent -- they're very smart -- but it's not going to be the sequel to Unreal 2.

As for there being no hype... it's not that surprising considering how inundated the market is right now. This game is launching a month or two too late. But whatever. I'm having fun with it.

I didn't know Funcoland was still over there. I only went to that shop b/c they had the best selection of classic items, but I imagine they've stopped doing that over the years. If they still have classic stuff, I'd have to check it out.

I tend to go to the Newport one, as it's 4 minutes from my house and in the same shopping center as the gym I go to. The folks there are mostly nice, but there are a few who fit the typical image of game store employee.

I may carry some trade-ins there tomorrow so I can pick this game up.
