Unreal Tournament 3 - Gen. Discussion & Info

lol the portals on that snow map got screwed up i kept warping back n forth from the jungle to the snow part over n over for like 5 seconds

does anyone have an solution for me?
i have a wireless mouse and keyboard but i have NOWHERE to put it... what the heck are u guys using? i dont have a spare table sitting around. ive been using my controller.

Is that on the PC or PS3 version where you can change the post processing?

I don't know why, I've loved every Unreal game, from the first one, to UT, to 2K3 and 2K4, and this one just makes me sad. It just looks like a bad gears of war to me with crappy colors. There isn't even a face CTF map, which was my favorite. Plus they killed a lot of cool game modes.

I'm also finding it very hard to see other players and I think the graphics aren't that great either. I prefer sharp graphics to muddy textures. Maybe I just need to get use to it, but the first time I popped it in I had to check the color calibration on my LCD.

Oh man. I hope the mod community is as rabid as it's been with past UT games and can deliver a Face map for UT3. Or maybe Epic will get one out eventually, since they're pretty good about releasing new content.

The coolest CTF map ever :) Just two facing towers. Great for sniping, etc. Just plain, good CTF action.
 
That was from UT99

Anyways, it's so hard switching from CoD4 to Unreal and vice versa. The games are so different so if I'm good at one, when I switch to the other it takes me about 30 minutes to get used to it, especially going from UT to CoD
 
I was hopeing to get this at walmart today I really should have known better. Of course when I check online the walmart about a hour away has them in stock. I sware sometimes I cant win with nothing :(

I just played the game, and I think it plays great,but is it just me or is it not really all that graphical. I mean unreal championship on xbox looks extremely nice, and this don't look next gen above that well to me anyway.
 
So this game is on par with the old Quake and Unreal games from the 90's? I just picked this up and haven't opened it. I was abig time fan of those two games I mentioned above. Thanks in advance.

I agree, I thought it would look better since they did make Gears which looks incredible so I was kind of expecting that kind of polish. The graphics aren't bad but its definately a step or two below gears. With that said its still a very fun game.

Yeah I figured it would look all that. I kind of wonder if the 360 version will look the same or better. The online play though is extremly good even though I really suck at unreal :lol:
 
Okay, changed colors to intense, much better now :) I just played it for a few hours, it is a lot better than I expected. I wonder if anyone will make a UT2K4 mod for it :lol:

I personally think this is the best console FPS I have ever played for multiplayer.

my room is small so i only have a desk but it doesnt face my tv...
ive been using my controller

this is my first time playing an unreal game and yeah that is basically it run around blast the crap outta people and try not to get your body blown into bits too. its great, i dont tink ive been addicted to a multiplayer FPS since CS.

I just got this game. I'm going to play a little campaign then hop online.
 
I really want to get this game. We have two PS3s in my house, and I was hoping someone could tell me if it is possible to play splitscreen on LAN play? Like two players on each PS3 for 4 player team death match?

I played 5 of the missions in campaign and hot damn this game is fun. :bouncy: :bouncy:
 
I've played 5 or 6 campaign missions right now, and a few things...(I'm playing on Casual because I just want to get through it before I jump online)

- Framerate is much better than GOW on 360 (I've yet to see it dip; it's sort of weird to have a smooth frame rate as most major 360 games do not)
- Graphics are a little cleaner than Gears, but it's still early on to tell. The face shading effect is still there, and it's still annoying
- Gameplay is fantastic. I've had no problems so far in terms of controls except figuring out I could only carry 2 weapons, and the sniper rifle (I don't know how to zoom in; although I somehow managed to get 2 headshots from afar)
- Music. Like most FPS's, I'm not noticing any music. I guess it's lackluster or I'm deaf. I hear the explosions and voices. That's about it.

Even at 30 frames per second, it's the fastest 30 fps games I have played.
 
Finally found a store that had this. PS3 and 360 names are MSUHitman. I'm usually on one of the two systems at night, if not them I'm watching TV/on CAG and IGN. Would love to play some UT III on PS3 with CAG's.

ahaha i had the same problem with the sniper, i just pressed all the buttons, but just press L1 or hold it then it zooms in and out with the analog i think. but yeah press L1

Hold down L2 to cycle through all your weapons using the right analog stick. Circle just cycles b/w two.
 
Just picked this game up tonight, I actually found it at wal-mart amazingly enough. Should get a chance to play it tomoorow after i finish Mass Effect.

lol i had a terrible adjustment, after playing a game where everything was super speed and then going to a normal speed i got owned haha

So far I've had maybe 30 mins with it and pretty good so far. I've yet to jump in online. After a COD4/Warhawk last few days, it took a while to adjust.

wow, I might be waiting to pick this up now. Was looking forward to playing this with a friend, but with the lack of split screen I guess I won't be able to. :whistle2:(
 
I freakin' love this game.

I had a question about mods though. Say someone makes a level...I guess that level can only be played on if all the people have the mod? If this is the case, I guess mod games would have to be pre-organized to work?
 
If they've done it properly, you should be able to download the mod immediately after being told that you don't have the proper mod to play this specific game.
