Events your store may be doing... Call ahead of time to make sure.

Event: "Gears of War Preview" Select stores will be staying open late on 10-21 in order to show off Gears of War for the Xbox 360. The showing will start at 9 PM and last approximately 15-20 minutes from what I can tell.

Event: "Final Fantasy XII Costume Contest & Midnight Opening" Some stores may end up doing a costume contest for the release of Final Fantasy XII. Participants may dress up as any Final Fantasy character of their choosing (Prizes may be available, although I'm not to sure about it). Some stores may also be participating in a midnight opening for Final Fantasy XII.

I think I've covered everything that is available this time around. If anyone discovers that something is missing, please post in the thread or the even better bet is to PM me so I can add to the list accordingly.

Heading out to GameStop tomorrow and trading in the following:

GTA: LCS for PSP - $16
Xenosaga II - $8
Silent Hill 4 PSP - $8

Total = $32 plus extra $10 = $42 plus extra 20% ($8.40) = $50.40 going to Gears of War Collector's Edition. Woo hoo!
I just got $30 on Ebay for mine ;)

It's semi rare, so if you want to get rid of it, it's one of those games (much like something like Disgaea) I wouldn't recommend trading in to EB and selling it online.
Is it just the Cube version that's considered rare or has the Xbox version got that status as well?

I'm generally on top of which games are rare, but have somehow completely missed this one's change in status (thankfully already own it for the Cube)....

A manager at a Gamestop in Poughkeepsie, NY tried to pull some bullshit on me yesterday. He told me $1 games don't get the extra $10 credit; I politely reminded him of the only exclusions to the deal, and he told me he'd do it for me "Just this once", but he was losing money on this.

No, I think the Xbox version is quite common. The Gamecube version seems to be semi-rare, and I think the PS2 one might even be, but I'm not positive on that.

For some reason, a lot of Gamecube multi-platform games are becoming pretty difficult to find, so games you wouldn't expect to fetch a high resale price on eBay, do now.

I have got that from a few stores before I got banned from this deal by EB, I also got the game has to trade in for more than $3.00 to begin with. And another store told me that the 3 games I was trading in had to equal above $10.00 before thay would be counted in for the $10.00 bonus.

Traded in my last 3 games today and got their very first gamestop/EB new edge card. Yay for switching over from the crappy receipt things.

Yeah, add Prince of Persia Sands of Time to that list (especially new). I don't think the PS2 BG&E is rare - or at least I hope not as it was available in piles at Best Buy last year during the $5 coupon deal (so it was $5 after coupon). I know I traded several into EB and GR back then (when EB had the trade 3 or 4 games for GT4 or Madden/Zelda preorders).

Actually, I have the PS2 BG&E but would like the GC version to play. I'm holding on to the PS2 one until I can find a GC version. Knowing my gaming habits, I'll never end up getting around to playing it :D. Though you never know, I finally cracked open Metal Arms (another game that was a cheapy at Best Buy a while back, though I got the GC version from GR) a few months ago and actually played it to completion - nice little game there.

I don't have the energy or time to do it, but it would be cool to have a running thread that monitors the collectible games across systems, breaking 'em down into rarity categories (Very rare, rare, uncommon, etc)...

I actually don't own any of the PoP games for any system, but have been thinking about tracking down the trilogy... I just can't decide which system to get them on (tempted to go with the Cube cause I prefer the controller, but I'm also a bigger fan of my PS2 collection...)

Yeah, same here. I haven't played nor do I own any of the Prince of Persia games. I'm probably going to get the Gamecube versions, as apparently, the PS2 and Xbox version of "Warrior Within" has sound and frame rate glitches.

Ha, i just looked at completed listings and you can see one guy who must have tons of them in stock selling them at $14 then slowly raising the price to $32 after about 15 sell.

i have the PoP tril on XbX and both paynes.. i have all the GTA's on Sony PS1/PS2 just waiting for vice city stories. :D i went to gamestop today and they are rude, also they started selling scarface when street date is 7th.

QUESTION!!!!! :O

Yeah, so I just traded in six games, two of which were Baten Kaitos's, with a Warioware and Polarium, and I got the edge card hoping that the 30% for FFXII could work with the $10 deal. I already had FFXII preordered here. The dude said they didn't stack, but I still got the card because I have more stuff to trade in.

The problem is I have two more BK's, two more Polarius, and another WW along with a Megaman game I'm gonna trade in. I might want to try my luck there again with a different cashier and see if he'll let me stack the two deals, but I don't want to put multiple copies of the same game in one store, because I heard that people can get banned.

So can I add to my preorder from another store? Because I'll try to find an employee who doesn't really know/care about the deals. If not, I'll still probably go to other stores to trade anyway, but it'd be really cool if I could add to my FXII at a different store.

Wait, say I get the 20% bonus (no GI mag) towards preordering GoW. Let's say I get more than $60 after the calculations are done. Just to throw out a number, I'll use $90. Is it possible to just use $5 out of that $90 on GoW and have the other $85 to be put on my EDGE card?

just trade them in at different times. Its better if you have a variety of games. but 3 games to the same store in a week isnt bad at all
^^^Yeah, but I wanna know if I can add to a preorder at one store from another store....
You can't, but you can take the credit from the trade on the card they give you and bring it to the store where your preorder is and ask to put it towards that.. or just hang onto it until your preorder comes in and pay the rest with that.

New trade-in values for the Wiki!

PS2
Splinter Cell- $1.50 (down from $2)
Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow- $5
Wreckless: The Yakuza Missions- $1

Xbox
Buffy the Vampire Slayer- $1.50 (up from $1)

I traded in 9 games, but these were the only ones that differed from what was already posted. As for the SCs, I have all of them on Xbox now, and I'm done with the PS2 versions' extra missions.

Not sure about this, think its ymmv. I just did tradeins to preorder GoW and the lady asked if I wanted to pay it off in full with my credit, so yeah I just dont know what the minimum they would make you put on it.

Stupid question, but can you stack the 3/$10 deal by trading in 3 games, and then getting the extra 20% towards a pre-order like Gears of War or FFXII?

If you read a few posts back you would see the answer...which is YMMV.

I was able to get both of these deals stacked together, but it really depends on the employee/store. If they complain just tell em you've done it there before.

The man. at my ebgames kick ass. I got the 3/10 + 10% (edge) + 20% (gears of war)
The man. at my ebgames kick ass. I got the 3/10 + 10% (edge) + 20% (gears of war)
Same. I traded in 25 games (1 was mario kart DS which is trading in for 20) ended up with around 288 in store credit with lost planet and gears of war paid in full. The rest is for the Wii. Might make one more stop just to purge the rest of the stuff in my collection that I don't touch. thanks again OP.

Woohoo, I got them to do t3g 10$ + 30% GI coupon + 10% more card :applause:
Here is my haul.

The suffering(xbox) -2.00
grandia 2(ps2) -6.00
gun(xbox) -4.00
indigo prophecy(ps2) -7.00
destroy all humans(ps2) -8.00
state of emergency(ps2) -1.00

28.00 + 20.00 (t3g10$) + 15.84 (30%) + 6.38 (10%) = 70.22

Not bad! I preordered zelda since that is a condition set for using the coupon, but I can just cancel it at any time if I need to. It was funny watching the guys try to figure out the total for my trade in value. They kept apologising for taking so long, once I saw they were going to honor all 3 deals I didn't mind too much. :bouncy:

I had a small trade-in yesterday:

Pitfall: Lost Expedition Xbox -- 2.00
Psychonauts Xbox -- 8.00
Zelda: Ocarina of Time+Master Quest Gamecube -- 18.00

Digit Press has been doing this for years... they're still waiting for the dust to settle for this generation to assign rarity values in their formal guide, but there's a couple of on-going threads (in the forum) over there that do try to keep track of the rarer stuff.

Stupid girl at GS told me they stopped doing the promotion last week for 3/$10. Considering last week was 9/25, I'm guessing she's just ignorant to anything rather than trying to swindle me.

Were you given the option to just put $5 on Zelda? or did you have to pay it in full?

Can verify all of these Wiki values based on a lunchtime trade:

Xbox
Bloodrayne 2 - $4 (last updated in July)
Ghost Recon - $1
Rainbow Six 3 - $1
Simpson's Road Rage - $3
Splinter Cell - $1
Star Wars: KoTOR - $2.50
World Champsionship Poker - $1

PS2
Freedom Fighters - $3 (last updated in July)

NDS
Feel the Magic - $1 (last updated in July)

Oddly, he just tacked on $5 for making a preorder instead of figuring an extra 10%. I had no issue with it, though, since I have bad luck getting the deal combo with the 3/10 anyway.
Wiki is updated again until this point.

:D
Ah, so today's youth is not a complete bunch of slackers :D (Seriously, thanks aolat).

I'm heading in to make one more big trade (12 games) at my favorite EB - hopefully getting the 20% bonus for Zelda in addition to $10/3, and also, maybe, with some luck, getting some Wii/PS3 preorder info (or at least a nod, nod, wink, wink from the manager that he'll save me one no matter what :D).
Couple more trade-in values:

Megaman ZX (DS) - $11
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time (DS) - $14 (down from $15)
Thanks, added. :D

Turned my $30 of GS credit into $250 credit thanks to this deal + the fact that my GS/EBs are running a B2G1 for military until November. Got Gears of War with the 30% off, as well as Rainbow Six Vegas, and Splinter Cell all paid off. I also picked up Just Cause. Sweet deal. Only thing I'm paying for is gas.
One crazy thing is that sometimes I get hit with refurbishing fees when I just delivered from one store to another. That shows that the whole refurbishing fee is BS since they don't give a crap what they are handing out.
Will post trade in prices later as I've got a whole bunch of them and I'm not done with this deal yet. Time to build credit for the Wii now.

How do you turn $30 credit into $250?

Traded in:

NBA 06 (PSP) - $8/each
Twisted Metal Head On (PSP) - $7/each
NBA Ballers Phenom (Xbox) - $4/each

Got the $10x2 bonus for 3 games and Stacked 30% on top of that for FFXII preorder

Total Cred: $75.40.
How do you turn $30 credit into $250?
he's flipping from store to store, and with the B2G1 free he says hes getting, he can easily keep buying games with credit and passing it through his stores, essentially increasing his credit infintely until the deals end. Though the stores hate these procedures and will give you problems for it.

lol...i can still remember the days when 12 games were big

Do GS employees get pissed when your trading in a copy of Finding Nemo, the Incredibles, and World Championship Poker (just giving examples of shit games) which trade in for $1 each but get you the extra $10 for trading in 3? I mean surely they must know they are GIVING AWAY a free $10 cuz no one would ever buy those games used.

No, why would they get pissed? You bought them, didn't you?

The only game they might give you trouble on is "World Championship Poker" as it could be considered a sports game, I guess.

Ugh, I traded in a few games the other week and they guy asked me if I'd even played the games. Caught off guard I carefully said, not really. I had just picked these $2-4 games up from kmart, so they were like new. Even if they were from my collection, they'd be in great shape... Has this ever happened to you guys and what would you do in a similar situation? He seemed really ticked off and I hope he didn't report me or something.

I tell them that I'm an adult and take care of my games. Seriously, outside of some dust and a younger family member finger printing them, why shouldn't your discs be in good condition? I dunno why some employees grill me when I bring games in excellent condition. Probablly because they can't apply the refurb fee.

I don't think you should have told them where you got the games and for how much. In my experience, unless your cool with the cashier they'll think you stole them.

Hey who cares if they get pissed, your following their rules so if they have a problem with them they need to change them before they do the next deal.

As of right now, you aren't doing anything wrong.

Just went to EB about 8:30 eastern (just before closing time). Hazleton PA, the clerk did not stack the 3 for 10 with the 30% but he did stack the 30% onto the gamecube and memory card trade in(are we supposed to erase data off them before we trade in, because I forgot to, lol).

Without any of the added bonuses...
Gamecube- $25
Memory Card 256 $6
Ninja Gaiden Black- $7
Project Snowblind (PS2)- $1.50
Burnout 3- $8
Serious Sam Next Encounter: (GCN)- $1.50
Brain Age- $8
Tales of Symphonia- $8
Megaman Nework Transmission-$1.50
Mario Kart DD- $12
Mario Golf TT- $7
Mario Party 4- $11
Super Mario Sunshine- $7
F-Zero GX- $2
Metroid Prime 2- $6
Metroid Prime- $1.50
Zelda Wind Waker: $6
Custom Robo-$5
Soul Caliber 2- $4
Resident Evil 0- $4

Ok so that was 18 games, a cube and a memory card. All came out to $217.68. So I walked out with Zelda TP and Red Steel fully paid off and still having $122 left for the Wii in credit :D
