Urban Dead - The Official Cheap Ass Survivor Thread

Looks like I missed another one, I'll try tomorrow. I just always forget about it since I'm doing the majority of my gaming at night.

I usually end up using my AP in the morning when I check my e-mail and so forth.

Good work tonight, folks. That was a hell of a lot of zombies. I couldn't get the 'Cades up back that high 'cause of the Morgan Backus situation, but it was still a nice accomplishment on our part to get things to where they are.

I need a revive. I've been a zombie for days and haven't been able to find an active revive point.

I'll come to whereever you want me to if someone would be kind enough to grant me a revive.

Woke up this morning to find Eutychian ruined. Joliet is dead inside, along with 8 zombies, 2 outside Euty, and 17 outside Pius.

Crotch, ColdShotX is now at St. Ethelbert's in Edgecombe, is this the right spot?

You can try Salopia Row. It is an active revive point. I was revived there within half a day the last time I was killed.

The zeds have moved from Pius to Matheos. Pius is still standing and I caded it up to VSB++. Hallet was only at HB as yukine states below, but I caded it up to VHB. I don't have enough AP to waste to get it back up to EHB without blowing my wad for tonight.

If anyone can cade Hallet back to full strength, that would be good. Couple of zeds are above Lacelles as well. We've got a lot of action right now.

It almost seems like we need a morning team and a night team to stop these HoW fuckers from jacking up our hospitals.

If you come by Hallett, I can help you

Update on my solitary trek; (not that anybody cares but it makes me feel like part of the game). I happened to check in this morning before leaving for the day. Logged in to find a 60 hp zombie in my face with all baricades ruined. Fortunately, I was in a room with over a dozen Josephine Generals so I escaped w/out being attacked. I whacked him once with my axe and got the hell out of Dodge. Stumbled over a place to crash w/ only 1 AP to spare. Slowly but surely, I'll eventually join the group. Barring any more unpleasentness I should be entrenched somewhere in Mornington by night's end.

Are the Cheap Ass Corpses at all active? Been considering trying out the other side and thought that's what Shot and Side may have been refering to.

Crotch: Thanks for the chat info. whenever my butt gets near the rest of you I'll be sure to try it out.

Since there seems to be such a following for this game I figured I'd give it a shot. Which class should I start as? Just a suggestion as to which is most useful or which is needed most by the group here would be great.

Fireman is popular suggestion, "free" attacks.

Personally, my favorite starting class so far has been the private. Start out with decent pistol/shotgun accuracy, free run is cheap for you too.

Doctor is aight, diagnosis is good if you can get into a hospital to stock up on FAKs.

My CAS character started as a Necrotech, and he has leveled the slowest of my 3. Plus the science class has to blow 150exp on any military skills. I can revive people now though, which makes me feel loved.

Got revived this morning and just secured myself in Caiger. I should have about 30 AP at 7, so I'll be able to participate this time. Hopefully we get a lot of people again.

Also, what's up, new people!

question how many ap did it take any of you to get flak jackets and where did you find them? im gonna try to get one out of the police station im in but id like to know if i should wait till i have 30 or more ap to try or just wait till i have all 50 ap and hope for the best. with all the seeming pking going on i need something to help myself.

lokizz, whenever I'm wondering that, I usually check the item out on the Wiki, most of them show the search odds right there: http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/Flak_jackets#Flak_Jacket

If you need something more detailed, always check the search odds page here: http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/Search_Odds

According to both, the odds are around 2% for a flak jacket, which means around 50AP if you want to play the odds. They say it's the hardest item to find in the game, I'll still need to set aside a day sometime to grab one, just to be prepared eventually.

Lucky I guess, I found 3 up at Crossman PD last week. 2 in the same sitting.

If you just decide to search PD's for ammo instead of malls, you should randomly come across one sooner rather than later. I found a few jackets within a few days of just picking up necessary ammo. A jacket isn't so important that you should waste extra AP just looking for it.

I personally haven't found one yet. But they are found in Police Stations I think at about a 4-8% rate.

thanks for the info fellas. as luck should have it i figured id give it a try real quick and after using 6 ap i got lucky and got 2 shotgun shells ( all i need is a shotgun now) and a flak jacket on the 6th try. thanks again for the help.

Wow. Lots of changes while I was out there jogging through sub-zero temperatures. Rocko, make sure you look at our Wiki and add yourself in.

I didn't make it far in my trek tonight as I ran into a pair of our undead friends near the bldg. I'm currently holed up in. I took it to 'em though, taking a dozen hp from one and killing the other. My first kill in our war against the abominations! Even though it took 3 or 4 days and used all my AP it was well worth it, the first of many kills I hope!

Serious Question: When I finally level up and get to buy a new skill for my fireman, should I get freerunning for the obvious reasons or the hand to hand skill that will up my axe from 25% to 40%? I think I'm leaning towards running as I am attempting to go as long as possible w/out dying.

Hotshot: Thanks for the CAC heads up. I'll be creating an undead menance to wreck the streets with 'ya soon enough.

Rocko: Glad you decided to join, it'll be nice to have a fellow lv. 1 compatriot, hopefully you start off closer to the crew then I did (and not in Riddleybank).

Good luck in your endevours tonight gentlemen, I'm off to add my kill to the Wiki!
I see...how do you tell where a revive point is?
The towns wiki page will have a list of its RP's. Some towns even show "RP" within the town map, but not all.

anyone else been paying attention to the DHPD stuff? Shit is hilarious
I got killed again. Damn zombies. :whistle2:(

I'm going to go hang around outside of Hallet and hope for a revive. :)
damn, wish I saw this before I wasted my ap

sorry
I see...how do you tell where a revive point is?
Salopia Row near Caiger and the cemetery near Caiger are both revive points in Darval. As Crotch said, avoid killing at all cemeteries since most zeds are waiting for revives there.

I'm down at the cemetary at 24,27 in darvall. Somebody killed me over the last few days.

Oh yeah, food poisoning fucking SUCKS.:puke:

If I wasn't dead myself (sitting in the same spot), I would help you as I could really use the xp

sounds like im not the only one getting screwed in this game today. someone stole a kill i had waiting ( ran out of ap and only had to hit the damn thing 2 more times to get that sweet bonus exp) and now i ran out of ap in the open because one of the vsb places i had set up and been using to make the jump into heavily barricaded places got heavily barricaded by some dumbass.

i seriously hate that people overly barricade everything and every place. thats good motivation to go zombie so i can have the pleasure of killing off some of these dumbasses. not to mention that one kill would have set me up to be able to purchase another skill.

This is un-be-fucking-lievable. I now have 3 shotguns, 2 shells, and 5 pistol clips, but no fucking pistol!!!!

Do i need to raid a smith and wesson warehouse or something?

Wasn't on today, and won't be on again 'til Monday/late Sunday. No More Heroes occupied me today, and I'm gonna be up to my eyeballs in low-level government people over the weekend.

We're gonna tie you up and feed you kibbles and bits.
We've gotten a request for help at Crossman PD on the radio. Might be good to help them out tonight.
I was going to go there and scrounge for guns and ammo soon anyway. Sounds good to me.

Weather conditions have way-laid me in Saskatoon, so I'm on a friend's computer right now. No IRC, though, so no joining on tonight's raid. However, I can say this...

Rice. First off, read the Wiki guides. A lot of them. The preferred human classes are privates (great gun skills and items) and firefighters (best melee class). HotShot can send you info on our IRC channel - we meet at 10:00 EST. Do not sleep outside or in Ridleybank. Get inside buildings that are Very Strongly Barricaded every night - you can not get inside Heavy or above.
