V Series Debut: SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER to SPOILER on ABC 11/3!

^ The problem is it's too formulaic. A by-the-numbers show, in an era where that just doesn't fucking cut it anymore.

+1

but I'll still watch it... wife will make me...

i thought the episode was pretty good but yeah very predictable. that kid is still very annoying but i get the feeling that
the mom cheated on the dad so the son isnt his and
thats why they divorced. now that i think about it the son kinda looks like
that terrorist guy they have working for him
.

the whole
lack of emotions
thing is a cool concept but i wish they would speed along and get to the actual takeover of earth already. i get it theres some people who are suspicious and V's who are against what theyre there for but lets get to the meat of the story already.

still waiting to see some alien weapons and a fully exposed alien.

I finally watched this week's ep and, man, this show is booooring. Nothing of any real substance has happened since the V's arrival. The writers haven't given me any reason to care about any of the characters. Poor Elizabeth Mitchell does not deserve to be stuck on this show. I hope she's at least getting paid well. The greenscreen effects are just awful. The integration between the CGI and the actors is essentially nonexistent. It's pretty clear they're cutting corners on the CGI budget to save some money. The problem with that is that it blatantly shows on screen. V seems to be ABC's equivalent to Heroes, particularly in regards to story. I'll finish watching this season but after that I'm probably done unless they can somehow turn things around.

I really am starting to fall asleep during this show. Unless some crazy "whoa" moments happen, I don't see it getting renewed for a second season.

I thought this weeks episode was decent, much better than the one before in any case.

It's not great, and I'd agree it's about on part with Heroes. So I approach it the same way, the TV show equivalent of a B-movie. Just cheesy entertainment you can't take too seriously.

I think Heroes beats the pants off this show, even in Heroes' current state...although the finale in S3 does set up the show for some much needed change and tighter focus.

Still to early into V for me to say whether it's ahead or behind Heroes. We're only what, 6 episodes into V?

We'll see if it picks up and how the season is wrapped up and then I'll have more of a comparison.

Heroes has had the problem of starting ok in seasons and going nowhere in all the seasons after 1. Maybe this one will have the opposite and be like Flashforward and start off weak and pick up as it goes on. Though to be fair, even the fall season of Flashforward was much better than V so far.

this latest episode was definelty very good for me. one of the best so far imo. and the twist
with john may being dead having been killed by that guy whose trying to stop the V's is very good.
the special effects could still use some work though but it was a very tight and interesting episode. and im glad
that guy died on the ship it adds to the seriousness of it all and how nobody is more important than the mission.

I agree with this. Last nights episode was pretty good. Not sure about the dad
not being his father, possibly.

Yeah, this weeks episode was quite good. Definitely the best so far.

I do agree with the above posts that the special effects seem to have taken a big step down from the 4 fall episodes.

I am just so done with this show... The characters are boring, the stories are boring, the effects are wishy washy at best for an era where tv show special effects can give movie special effects a run for their money. I was thinking of DVR'ing this while I was away, but at this point i'm not going to even bother.

I was getting myself confused and had to look it up on imdb.
Why do John May and Joe Evans look so much alike?

Would have been interesting for Tyler's dad to be a V ;)

well I'll still watch it, not like I completely hate it but it's definately not up there with the rest of the shows I'm watching.

Yeah, it's at the bottom of the few shows I'm currently watching:

I order I'd rank them:

Lost
Flash Forward
24
Desperate Housewives
V

But it's good enough that I'll keep watching.

So I finally got around to watching the latest episode. Another wasted episode filled with things you could have guessed 5 weeks ago. I know, the question is, "If its so bad why do you still watch." Hell if I know, I just wanted it to be good.

The only thing this show has going for it is their ability to hire the hottest extras I have seen in a tv show. I swear to god you will see the hottest girls just walking around in the back ground. John May step sons girl friend is hot to def.

Its like they are taking the DBZ approach with the pacing. The show is so predictable that it makes getting through a lot of the scenes painfully to watch. 7 episodes 7 hours and you can sum up every plot advancement in about half a paragraph. Even the things that are not predictable are really nothing spectacular so when they reveal them you are kinda like "meh."

I will say this, There is an alien race trying to take over earth while some freedom fighter are trying to prevent them. I dont give a fuck about your daddy issues and you hunt for alien poon tang. It would be like devoting scenes to an Ewoke gather leaves in the middle of The Empire Strikes Back. There are more important things going on here.

Anna wants again gets the award for the most passive aggressive villain of all time.If talking and taking baths killed humans they would be masters of our species by now.

I'm done watching. I'll just wait and Netflix a whole box set, assuming a miracle happens and this show isn't cancelled before they can enough episodes to fill a box set.

Jericho started out the same way, kinda generic. But then about 4-5 episodes in, Jericho got awesome as fuck. I don't think V is going to fix itself the same way. They should have opted for a miniseries that was tight and focused and skip trying to turn it into a full series, pretty much what CBS did with Harper's Island (which I wish the assholes would have put out on Blu-Ray because that show was great in HD).

Jericho was a very good show and yes by the 4th or 5th episodes , you were hooked. Watch I will go on vacation and while I am away, BAM a great episode comes out. :(

I watched the last episode last night off my DVR and I might have missed this part but do they say....
If the mom was just a whore and banged another guy and thats why her husband was not his father or if they were trying to say something else?

That's what the father believes.

But Erika swore that wasn't the case and the paternity test was wrong.

Yeah, that's my guess at what the twist will be there. The guy's not his dad, and she didn't cheat, he's some V/human hybrid that was implanted in Erika.

That would explain the dna not matching, and her not cheating.

^ That's the primary flaw with the series, that the V's were here before the arrival. Creates too many retroactive plot change opportunities. Like "Oh shit, [insert main character name] was a V the whole time!"

It would have been better if they just showed up in a single non-NYC city (because having an armada on the way loses its impact when there's already a ship above every major city in the world) and were discovered as frauds in the latter half of season 1. And the resistance had to form from scratch on day one with no resources...certainly not FBI, rebel V, and terrorist resources. The fast pace of this show is counterproductive. Even Jericho, if it continued, was a relatively slow pace and the first two seasons were really just localized, while the series was supposed to then transition into nationwide civil war for season 3 onwards. V just rushes out of the gate with everybody knowing the V are lizard people and the resistance already in well established.

I think it's that ABC ignorantly assumes 90% of their viewers already saw the original V and would be bored if ABC, god forbid, paced themselves and built some suspense.

i think the kids dad is either
her old partner or that V guy whose always reporting to the head V chick.
hes always giving her a weird look everytime they meet.

Just watches last weeks. Nothing great--as usual--but moves some plot forward.

Anna's daughter having emotions is a good--albeit predicable, angle.

I think ABC is trying to bring in more V viewers. Tomorrow they are having a premiere 60 second Halo Reach commercial during the show.

I think I missed the latest episode, can some just sum it up for me? Its really hard to find a unbiased review of each episode. That or we are the only ones in the interwebs that doesnt love the show. Every time I look one up they say how great the series is going and how this is just another great episode.

You can just watch at ABC.com....

But the last episode the main plot points were:

1. Anna took advantage of a national disaster on an island to show off V tech that she wasn't going to be allowed to present at a UN conference. After helping she made the presentation and gained political clout.

2. There was a V assassin hunting down 5th column members. Erika et al, caught them, turned out to be a human working for the Vs.

3. Anna's daugher is getting human emotion from her experience with Tyler. She failed the test, but Joshua lied to Anna and said she passed. When Anna asked him why, he said some day he'd ask her for a favor.

There was prior discussion with the other main 5th column guy on the ship over whether her death or taking a chance at getting her on her side would be a bigger victory for their cause.

Guess interest has died in this show since the thread hasn't gotten bumped the past couple of weeks.

Can't say I fault anyone. I'm still watching but it's really going no where.

Season finale is next week, so it's clear there will be no wrap. Fate of a 2nd season is still up in the air from an article I read today. I guess I hope it comes back so they can wrap things up, but it's dropped off so much from the fall season that I wouldn't miss it that much if they scrapped it either.

I'm only watching because I feel like I have to since I've already invested in however many episodes. This past one was atrocious though. I'm so annoyed by how much they hammer the plot into the viewers head. Not everyone is retarded, I don't need to see Anna give a weird look into the camera to let me know she is evil/lying EVERY time.

I expect one more season and then cancellation. I hope the creators are wise to that and attempt to wrap it up. This show was poorly done from the getgo. They squandered a golden opportunity based on the ratings of the debut compared to now. People tuned in expecting a real homage to the original and wound up being spoon-fed formulaic drivel.

i stil watch it this latest episode was pretty good still kinda waiting for the full on overthrow of earth to start. man anna is no joke but its not a big surprise she did what she did moreover i find it weird her kid seems so shocked by it. i especially liked her weird moments of trying to show affection even her putting her hand on ther kids shoulder looked weird and creepy.

the one thing i thought was stupid was
her whole plot to make people think they were leaving earth. why the fuck would aliens with advance tech be scared of humans? i know she was trying to sway public opinion but i dont think people could possibly be so dumb as to not think " hell you aliens have got to have bad ass weapons so why would you be afraid of us"?
and still aside from the stupid phantasm ball and they really long scalpel you havent seen any V weapons yet.

it was a good episode with alot of unecessary twists and turns. i just want to actual war to start.

Did they ever actually reveal why the V's want humanity to be alive while they take over earth? So far, they've done a lot of underhanded things, performed a little
human experimentation
, but nothing that seemed really bad. Feels like, for a half-season's worth of TV, nothing all that big or memorable has happened so far.

And let's not even get into the assorted gaps in logic.

They were about peace... and such, but the real plot isn't fleshed out.

They wanted to sway more of the people... it makes sense politically.

But as Salmando said above you, they haven't made it clear at all why they care about politics vs. just waging war and taking what ever they need. Be it resources, or just taking over the planet etc.

And that makes it all seem odd.

Watched it last night, but nothing really to say about it. Kind of glad this season of the show is wrapping up. Possibly just had too high of expectations for this show.

War nothing...if the V's really wanted to just take everything, they could use their fancy tech to redirect some asteroids or other large heavenly bodies right at us. I'd also imagine they have the knowledge of Physics to aim those bodies at important military bases and whatnot. Humanity wouldn't stand a chance, and the V's wouldn't put a single man in the line of fire.

Instead, they're taking their good old time to get us dependent on them for everything. They're going out of their way to ensure as many humans as possible are alive for when they make their move. Why they need humans alive has been the biggest question I've had, and there's been no inclination of them answering it.

in the original series they were
collecting humans to eat them
in this one i think its all about resources.

And if it's all about resources, the political crap makes little sense vs. wiping out humans and taking what they need.

I get the feelings that if they are trying to have global domination. That they are trying to get 'V's in high positions of government to cease what ever defense that Earth may have, if it came to war. Possibly even just enslave some of us as 'pets' or slaves.

Still, the one episode (end of fall season?) showed a ton of V ships heading our way.

Not very convincing that they need to use political intrigue to undermine earth's defenses.

Especially when the episode before last clearly stated that no earth technology could penetrate the shields on V ships!

That's a very good point.
I'm stumped as to what they want.

Also just making sure I understood this correctly yesterday, did Anna say that the reason to get close to Tyler was to get to his mother, because she was an "asset"?

It also doesn't really make sense why Anna needs to make an army. This week, she stated the ships were getting within range of earth being able to detect them, and her eggs haven't hatched yet. It seems like she could've held off a day or two and just waited for the ships to arrive.

I feel so retarded. Anna's comment about detecting the ships totally went over my head. I didn't connect that to the ships on their way to earth. Well thank you for clearing that up for me.

Regarding the Army Making...did anyone else find it a little odd that Anna and Army Man mated while still in their Human disguises? They can't wear those disguises 24/7. They'd have to get pretty itchy. I'd like to think if there was ever a time to take off their human disguise it would be then. Unless they somehow get turned on by it...

I watch this show for no reason. I enjoy watching it, but the show is not that good. And I don't expect it to get good... I just watch it because, well I don't know. But I do.

Not even giant lizards are attracted to giant lizards. Obviously the 'V' think our human flesh is "Sexy".
