VIDEOGAME SELLERS TARGETED FRAUD info on half.com / ebay/ amazon

Dammit here's a new one.
Shipped a used mint mario ds game to -
Carolyn Merzuk
116 N. Meadow Ave.
Pittsburgh, PS 15235-2427
Amazon
Shipped it early with DC and it was delivered cross country the day I should have shipped by...
On the 30th day, with NO communication of ANY issue to me, she files a chargeback with her credit card company.
I spoke to Amazon before submitting my reply.
She MAY have missed the 30 day deadline by 12 minutes.
I'm crossing my fingers I win on this technicality.

Took forever...but I won! Dec. 31, 2010.

Please everyone keep this thread active!

If it turns out she's a scammer, she's literally 3 miles out of my way on my way to work. I can stop by and "have a talk." ;)

Seriously though, let me know how this one plays out.

I don't know if this belongs here or not but this lady wanted me to ship to a PO box that was not listed which goes against amazon policy. I issued her a refund and told her it is against amazon's policy to ship to an unsecure address. She said nothing back just negged me.

I don't think theres a deadline for CC chargebacks. I had one person chargeback way past 30 days. There's also no set limit on how many times the chargeback can be filed. That same person lost their first chargeback and did it again a couple weeks later. Still lost, but annoying.
I have an interesting one. One of HitGaming's alternate accounts tried buying a game listing of mine. I recognized it and canceled it within an hour of purchase.

Six days later, another buyer bought the same game. I shipped out two days after the purchase. Within an hour and a half, they sent an e-mail saying they gave me the wrong address, and could they change it? They acted apologetic. It may have been a mistake, but they had so long to alert me. I actually shipped the last acceptable day for shipment.

It seems awkward, although, I have had an instance before, where a stupid buyer left me a 2/5, because they were so inconvenienced that I canceled their order within an hour or placement, citing Amazon's policy that you cannot ship to any other address other than the filed address. Anyway, back to the present.

My post office recalled it, I canceled the order, and it should be back in my hands later this week. I will not post the address, but will say the intended destination was Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. I will not say it is related to HitGaming, but the whole thing is ridiculous and was fairly close in proximity.

FYI, I contacted Amazon to hear my liability. They gave no support and said I might be able to recall the package, but to give a full refund now. They also refused support in the previous incident, even though the person admitted it was their fault. It's good that buyers have zero liability for their personal actions. I really don't know if the two instances were fraud or idiots. I think it was fraud, because it would just take an A-Z claim for a refund, and they could keep the item that they had "mis-mailed" to themselves, a friend, or relative.
I got my package back, intact. I have changed my mind. The last name of the intended recipient was Jiachang, sent to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. There were multiple first names associated with the account. They were not consummate professionals, likely a family that wanted a free game. All signs point that they were trying to pull something.

Hey you guys have sarah allen on the scammer list. I've sent tons of stuff to her and never had a problem. She doesn't leave feedback, but I don't care, I'm happy for the repeat business.

Well,
That's great for you, but since she's ripped off a few people here (including me), it's best to go with the mob on this one.

If a person has screwed over a number of people just on this site and who visited this thread, I am sure they are doing it to other people. She might not be a "scammer" in the strictest sense of the word, but she is obviously not a good person to do business with.

I ship several oop games to him each month and have never had a problem. Just make sure the item is what you represented and get DC or SC.

Any of those Hopkinsville, KY addresses are buyers for HitGaming, just like Sarah Allen. Like others have said, I've shipped to these goons a few times with no problems, but you've got to make sure that your auction is as listed, as go the whole nine yards as far as SIGNATURE Confirmation, and insurance. If you take those precautions, you should be fine.

There is another justabuyer-something something (can't remember the specific name right off) on eBay as well; has stuff shipped to the same Russelville Rd. location.

A lot of times if you come in with a really low price and one copy of a really rare or OOP title, they will buy it up from you just to take you out of the market. Since they get top dibs in the Marketplace results, they can charge astronomical rates (way above the normal going rate), and clue-less soccer moms will buy from them (at a huge market) simply because it's the first result that pops up.

Ok here is one I just ran into, my first real scammer after many years of selling on ebay untouched.

Do not ship to this guy, he is out to blackmail the seller with negative feedback which hurts your account. If you do sell to him make sure the auction was described in as much detail as possible, as he had nerve to complain about scratches on a case to me and request a partial refund. Also use tracking and or signature confirmation if possible. If you have a tracking number and enter it into the ebay auction you will probably save yourself from this guy like I did. If I didn't have tracking he probably would have taken me for the whole 9 yards.

He also asked me for feedback several times, so I don't recommend leaving feedback until the buyer leaves feedback for you.

If anyone recognizes this guy let me know.

I had forgotten about this thread.

I just looked back, though, and found out I sold something to this guy (on ebay) on Dec. 2nd. No chargeback and no feedback received - which is fine with me.

Never mind.

Although slowdive, at first I thought that 90047 scammer was in Century City (misread Century Blvd. for Century Park East/West) and would have been happy to go pay him a visit. Considering it's actually "prime" Inglehood, I don't have the tactical body armor to pay him a visit. Sorry man. Maybe I can put a couple of calls in to Inglehood PD about a guy at that address selling crack though...;)

Alright, you guys decide with me on this.

I posted about the guy the other day who I said redeemed the code and then said it didn't work. He then e-mailed me again about it, but is sticking to the original story.

However, I just got off the phone with Microsoft (spent over an hour) and their records indicate that the code WAS redeemed yesterday, exactly when I sold it to the person.

Could his code be invalid.... or is he just lying?

Microsoft said I could go to the local police department and have them call back Microsoft to investigate this further, but that seems a bit extreme and I doubt they'd even give two shits about this minor issue with all of the hardcore crime going on daily.

If the code is indeed invalid, why would it show up as redeemed yesterday?

So... what do you all think?

I had a problem with a seller RedBeeboop on Amazon. I bought a copy of Pokemon Sapphire and it seems to be pirated. The idiot wanted me to pay to ship the game back. I'm probably going to file an A-to-Z claim with Amazon which is why I bought through them. According to a CAG archived thread you can contact nintendo at [email protected]. I'm wondering what nintendo does if anything at all. I feel gamers need to unite against this crap and shut down pirate game sellers wherever they can.

Also the seller's return address was listed as:

Becca L.
PO Box 2563
Guasti, CA 91743

I actually live about 10 minutes from Stow, MA. Its full of sleazebags and yuppy scum

Wow, I didn't know this was going on. I sell textbooks on half and never have had a problem. Thanks for the info.

I have been selling less stuff online due to stupid policy changes and lack of help of places like ebay. (No customer phone number to be found anywhere)

Luckily I haven't been scammed but I have had to deal with people who don't pay. Having to relist, having to file a claim for a refund of seller fees etc.
Unfortunately this scammer is a buyer so leaving feedback isn't particularly helpful. Check out Denise Shacht's buyer feedback here. It's amazing that Amazon sides with the buyer so much that they're allowed to just open multiple accounts, continously file A-Z claims, and get away with it. Also, as a final blow, Denise (and I'm sure the other Shacht's as well) leave negative feedback for everyone they scam. Totally broken system for scamming buyers to take advantage of.

By the way, the scam address provided for 13 Municipal Plaze Bloomfield, NJ is the address of the Bloomfield, NJ post office... If it wasn't a PO Box address then it's the post office directly.

This same person is back again with a new name but using the same 13 Municipal Plaza, Bloomfield Post Office address. Any orders with the name Zita Sucre on it from Amazon is this same Denise Schact. She opened a new Amazon account. I got 12 orders from this person in 2 weeks, all for playstation games. Lucklily I recognized the address. I canceled every order so I am not out money but she leaves a negatives and its affecting my Amazon ratings.

Something I've learned to do is always send a PM or something equivalent to the 'buyer' when sending games that includes the tracking number. Do I still have the slip from when I sent? Probably, but I was easily able to access the DC# from checking the interaction log from the transaction.

That is a forwarding address so whoever ordered it from there lives elsewhere, possibly outside of the country.

Was this on eBay or Amazon?

For Amazon Sellers:

Check the Billing Country, if its From Venezuela "VE" its definitly a scam, they use address here in US (Mostly in Miami, Florida) then after 2 weeks or a month they will claim chargeback.

Well, I've gotten orders from Venezuela before shipped to Miami without problems. What happens is they use a forwarding address in Miami to ship it elsewhere (usually in South America) and I've never had a problem regarding this. I'm sure scammers have used it, but I wouldn't automatically say everyone that buys from VE is an outright scammer.

On ebay you can upload tracking information right into the auction if you enter a tracking number on the paypal order form. I do this for every transaction. You can even input a customs number from the form and it will at least tell you the item has been dispatched, which proves you sent it. Its not a guarantee that a buyer won't scam you, but it will make it much harder for them to scam you.

I buy from ebay too, and I have only received tracking information this way once, so a ton of sellers out there are still sending packages without tracking, putting themselves at risk.
