I should've looked at this thread. This person is trying to do a chargeback but complied with Half.com and gave them the tracking info and all that stuff.

I just got a weird one, this was the address and all of the info:
Current Resident
P.O. Box 841416
Pearland, TX 77584

It screams stolen credit card.

I would walk away from that one and report it to PayPal/Amazon/etc.

I canceled it five minutes after I saw the info on Amazon.

this I just got scooped....buyer bought Mass Effect 2 for PS3 back in March, and on Monday, May 31st, I was notified that the buyer filed for a chargeback.

I responded immediately to Half.com and asked them to look into my 100% positive satisfactory rating before making the decision, yet they decided to credit the buyer back, for $30 more than the price the seller paid for the item, is this even possible?

Is there any legal actions or complaints I can file?

The buyer's user name is darkhaloman89

and the address I shipped the item to was

Crystal Dawes
1231 evergreen drive
Nashville, NC 27856
USA

Thanks!

This person is definitely a scammer. She bought something from me and tried to do a chargeback, but I had DC on the item, so Half.com didnt have a problem disputing it on my behalf. She then tried AGAIN using a different ID but to the same address, and I cancelled right away.

First question is, did you use delivery confirmation, and if so, did you provide that information to Half.com? If not, there really isn't much you can do, as its your word against hers, and Half/Ebay always side with the buyer.

Use Delivery Confirmation, every time!
A quick Google search shows that she is a criminal. Here is a news story about her arrest at the beginning of the year.

From the article:

"Det. James Matthews said an investigation into a Nov. 16 break-in at a business near Roanoke Rapids has led to the arrest of Crystal E. Dawes, 33, of Nashville, N.C.
Dawes is charged with obtaining property by false pretense and conspiracy to commit felony larceny. The investigation began when the business, located on Highway 158, reported checks and other property had been stolen."
Nice. I would contact Detective Matthews and let him know that Ms Dawes is attempting to commit mail and credit card fraud.

Not that it would help, but I would also inform Amazon/Half/Whoever that this person is a known thief/felon. They might reverse their decision, but most likely not.

WOW! you guys are good! Unfortuntely, i didn't use DC for that transaction. But I recently sold a game on Half.com, and this time I'll use DC. So as long as you have the DC, even if the buyer does a chargeback, as long as you give the DC# to Half.com, you'll be okay right? I'm contemplating if I should post the buyer's infor here, so see if he or she is one of the scammer, but maybe that might be overdoing?

I did a search on Crystal Dawes, but didnt thought that she'd use a different last name. That is crazy!

BTW, how do you guys usually send your games to minimize the cost? I'll be shipping an XBOX360 game, using media mail in a bubble letter, so thats 2.xx, plus DC, which costs 2.xx, so that will be around 5 bucks for shipping. Any ways to lower the cost?

Video games are not eligible to be used for Media Mail shipping (and first class is generally cheaper and faster for a single game anyway) so you should rule that method out. Also, DC costs $0.80 at the PO and $0.19 if you ship using PayPal. I am not sure where you paid over $2 for DC.

Signature confirmation is $2.xx.

Hey guys, I need some help...

Somebody with a zero ebay rating just won one of my auctions. However, his address listed on eBay and Paypal confirmed address are different, on top of that, the eBay-associated e-mail is different from the Paypal associated. I sent e-mails to both and no response.

Should I just issue a refund? If i do issue a refund, will eBay/Paypal charge me with the auction associated fees?

Thanks!

I just got screwed over I think. I sold a Scorpion Code for Mortal Kombat about a month ago for $15 to some guy on eBay. He claimed it worked fine and everything when PSN got back up. Now he is filing a PayPal dispute saying that he got ripped off since you can get all the codes for cheaper now. Will paypal give him the refund?

Now that's just idiotic. Depreciating value is nothing new. There's no common sense reason why PayPal would side with him, but if they do, then they're sure stupid. He sounds like a total jackass.

They shouldn't, but they do have auto ruling for the buyer if they choose a certain combination of questions when filing the dispute. You used to be able to supply additional information via the website, but I am not sure since they have a new dispute process. You can always call paypal if they rule against you.

Yeah Paypal took his side. They took the money from my account and refunded him. That just irritates me on how many scammers are on eBay. I have done 10 transactions and 3 of them did the same thing.

Scamming assholes have made it risky to sell any codes on eBay. All it takes for them is to say that it doesn't work and they seem to get their money back regardless if they actually used it or not.
There needs to a third party that can confirm digital codes.
I just mail the code with delivery confirmation.

That makes no sense. So PayPal is so incompetent that "I bought something that went down in price at a later date so I want my money back" works on them?

Time to post this scammer's name, address and user name.

So, i sold bunch of infamous 2 dlc to some guy on ebay a couple of weeks ago. I clearly stated in the listing that they will be sent by ebay message. The guy even asked me when i was going to email him the codes since i stated i will send them same day payment is received and i was a little late. So, fast forward to yesterday and i got a message from the guy asking me if i shipped the item. I knew he was going to file a dispute so i immediately emptied my PP account, took off my CC and changed all my info. Sure enough he files and escalates a dispute with ebay and im negative $32 on my account. He states that i was suppose to send him "Collectible Cards" which is BS because i never once said that. Even more frustrating is the guy also sell's dlc on ebay so he knows exactly how it works. I know i'm going to lose this and now i'm out all of my codes and the $32. I'm not paying the negative so pp and ebay can fuck themselves.

What an incompetent, nasty douche that Aviles is. He probably did that to get rid of the competition on eBay.

I have sold on Amazon, not on eBay, but I will make sure to keep an eye out for this type of activity. Thanks.

Here is another dirty scammer ebayer to stay away from! Here's his home address, email and phone #. Ripped off my young nephew for some Pokemon games:

Here is a seller on Amazon to avoid.

Ruth Tol
Shipping Address

This buyer filed a chargeback claiming the game was cracked. I contacted him and told him he needs to return the game and a refund will be given.
Then claims "Well that would be great but 3 days ago I got my wallet stolen and I canceled my card and I haven't gotten a chance to get another one so that money won't go anywhere even if u sed it"

Amazon should side with me based on the evidence in our messages but I have a felling they won't and the buyer will keep the working game for free.

New user, zero feedback. Purchased new release video game with priority shipping. No contact. Received charge back notice today. Was signed for by K cahn. (wonder if cahn=con)

Glad I usually send all sales to apartments with signature confirmation. (can't say they didn't get it when it is signed for. Downside is $2.05 versus $.19)

This clown bought a PS2 from me, but didn't pay until I opened an unpaid item dispute. Then four days after he finally pays, I get an e-mail from PayPal saying that he filed a bank reversal. Thankfully, UPS has a delivery intercept/return to sender service, so I was able to get the system back. I was still stuck with the cost of shipping, cost of having it returned, and the FVF fee, though. :(

On the bright side, I did end up reselling it for $50 more, which kinda made up for the loss on the first "sale."

Just started my ebay account to start selling on sale 3 this guy bids on my item. A day passes with no payments or messages. I remind him that he bid on the item, then he promptly responds with he forgot to change the address on the oder. He gives me a new address to ship to which is in the same state as him with same name then instantly pays. What should I do?

:whee:
That's definitely a scammer. Address changes are a big NO NO. Better to be safe than sorry and let this fish back into the sea.

Yeah don't ship to any address that is not listed on his account or you will lose any dispute

I think I just sold an order on half.com to someone who is trying to commit fraud. He has 0 feedback and when I clicked on his name, it said he was not a registered user, but I haven't received any cancellation notice from half.com or anything. I emailed half.com to see what they have to say. I have until Monday to ship so I think I am just going to hold off until I hear from them. Do you guys who've experienced this think this is definitely a fraud attempt?

Most likely it is. Does it say "no longer registered user" if it does then half/ebay pulled the id or the person using it closed the account.

It says "Not a registered user" when I click on his name. But it pulls up a page like when you click on anyone else's name and says he's been a member since February 2009. I dunno if I should mail it or not. I emailed half and am waiting for an answer.

It is possible that it's not a scam. If a buyer just registers on half.com, but not eBay, their feedback page will say that they're not a registered user. They'll still be able to buy on half.com, but won't be able to leave or receive feedback. I once sold something to a half.com buyer who wasn't a registered user and everything went fine.

Cool. Thanks for that info. I've sold on half and ebay for over 10 years, but never thought about any type of scam from a buyer until I saw this thread. It got me paranoid...lol. I think I'll ship it out and just make sure I get a delivery confirmation and I should be covered. I'll wait until tomorrow night though just in case half does get back to me with bad news, heh.

I just got my email reply from half.com. They said they have already been paid so to go ahead and ship it. Everything will be fine. So I think I am good to go. Thanks for the info, guys.

Lemme ask you amazon sellers a question

Are you actually able to leave buyers feedback?

I've never seen a single option to leave them feedback but the way some of you guys are talking it sounds like you're supposed to be able to. I sell on the Canada website so maybe this is for whatever reason some function that site doesn't have?

If you go into the order details, down on the bottom right of the page is a button that says "Leave Buyer Feedback"

I sent that xbox to the guy who asked me to send it to another address. He used a different account and I sent it to the address listed. Now the asshole is saying the xbox is scuffed and scratched and he wants a partial refund if I have insurance on the item or a full refund. nyx102 and saabgripeniv

Never send the item if they ask you to send it to a different address. There's a 99% chance their trying to scam you somehow. And you will probably lose a dispute if they file one.

So then what do I pay ebay back the 147 + 15 shipping. I JUST started doing this and already got screwed. Probably should just quit if it's this bad after only 5 sells its not worth it.

Oh and I didnt send it to another address I ended the item and relisted it to him and this time he put the correct address.

Asking fro a partial refund is a major red flag. Guys like this target new sellers and intimidate them into full or partial refunds.

If I was you, I'd tell him I don't do partial refunds, but he can return it if he'd like for a full refund upon receiving the xbox. He might say to hell with it and leave you alone or he could up the ante and send you an old pair of sneakers and claim it's the xbox.

Given how ebay caters to the buyer, it's fairly difficult to not get scammed by a motivated, experienced and knowledgeable scammer. But at least you can make it difficult for them.

Since you've only done five transactions so far, you can always create a new selling account should he leave you negative feedback.
