Eh, I don't know. When was the last time Square released a platform exclusive? Does Sony have any special claim to FFX?

Easy: Tomb Raider Trilogy. The reason it was platform-exclusive? The games it was porting were also on Sony platforms. Until I see otherwise, I'm going to assume this will follow the pattern of all of these HD ports.

Or it could go the way of the MGS, Zone of the Enders, and Silent Hill collections which are all coming to 360 despite (some of) the original games being PS2 exclusives. There's examples on either side.
only natural to see PS2 games next in line as technology improves.
Yeah, but save for a few, they always reek of a quick cash-in, and it seems like there's a ton of them now.
Companies have liked repackaging PS2 games for awhile (*remembers the budget three-packs from the PS2 days*), but this is a little different.
Plus the more separate games they remake, the more $$$.
That's what I'm thinking. A lot of the art assets in X-2 are exactly the same as the ones in X (even Lulu, which is weird considering her circumstances in X-2 ), so they could totally include it along with X. Squeenix likes money way too much for that to happen, though

Square's greed is dwarfed by its incompetence, so I'm going to stick to the "upscaled HD towns" line to explain why we're only getting one game instead of a compilation, hah.
I might buy FFX HD if the price is right. By price is right I mean $20 or less. I never did really like the story in FFX but the game itself was alright.
I finally got around to playing Xenoblade this morning before heading into the office. I was impressed by what I saw. The British voice acting was surprisingly good.
Just beat FFTA2. It had been a long time since I did any story-related quests, and I had already been a little lost when it came to the story anyway, so I'll probably be checking out a game script or Let's Play soon.
At any rate, despite the story stuff and some other minor issues, awesome game. I already know there will be one person here who disagrees with me
Guess I gotta debate where the finally buy a PS3 or holdout for a Vita so I can play FFX. I'm hoping the price will be relatively low (10-25 dollar range), but I'm such a lover of the game's characters, story and music that I would probably buy it at any price.
People buying current gen consoles for a PS2 game, FFX really is that awesome though . It's coming of age story cannot be matched.
Hmm, only other game aside from Ocarina of Time that has served as a killer app for two different consoles?
Final Fantasy VII could be a killer app for PSX and PS3 if you count that demo reel that everyone got all hot and bothered over and assumed that a PS3 remake was right around the corner.
FFVII would be remade and all the fans that were clamoring for it will suddenly be raging over how it's all been ruined.
Everyone knows this would happen. Mostly because there's no way in hell Square is going to keep the game the same, line for line, battle for battle. It would honestly be a horribly dated game with pretty graphics aka Lost Odyssey. But traditional FF fans love that game unconditionally so...

the retcons in crisis core were already too much for the fans!
i'm also betting that if ff7 is remade and gets a competent translation, we'll like it a lot less, lol.

Indeed. Just keep in mind that I was complaining about the inevitable FFVII remake being bad before it was cool

The retcons in CC were ing ridiculous is what you mean
And yeah. Something special will be lost in a remake, or even just a retranslated port. Especially if they continue on with the "hey, Cait Sith has to have a Scottish/Irish-sounding accent for the English translation because of his name, hurr" thing.
I want to try the Rikku only challenge
What rules do you use when Rikku isn't in your party? I remember reading about some of the 1 character challenges for FFVI but I think everyone just defined their own rules for what was off limits (usually no Vanish-Doom) and what happens when the character isn't in your party.
I need this game. Hate that the 3DS is region-locked so much, but this is the kind of game I would eventually get a used JP 3DS for and muddle through without knowing the language.

I am sure Square will bring it over here. If not they are ing dumbasses. Besides I need a RPG for the 3DS that isn't a DS remake. My 3DS collection is kinda small at this point.
