What are you watching on your Netflix (or going to watch)?

I've had Netflix for over a year, and the instant streaming content often has an "expiration" date. I can't find the article I read about this issue, but basically, it's all about who has the rights to do what with the film at a particular time and what agreements they can work out. Sucks, yes, but mostly beyond Netflix's control really.

Just watched Ballast the other night, pretty damned depressing but still a pretty decent movie. I also never knew about instantwatcher.com and was able to find some movies on there that I didn't realized had even been added to instant watch. I think Day One and The Taking of Pelham 123 were ones that I added but haven't watched yet.

I watched Conan the Destroyer the other day.

Maaaybe Wilt Chamberlain is not the best person to be protecting a 16 yr old white girls virginity...

The last movie that my wife and I watched on Netflix Xbox was Chop Shop, on Jan 25th. We liked it, but be forewarned that it's not for everyone. Very slow, not much happens, and the actors are amateur, but if you stick with it does get pretty rewarding for your patience. Good movie. My kids watch a lot of kids shows on it, but we don't watch much because I can't stand the hiccups that happen where it stops for a moment and adjusts for a change in the network, then looks pretty terrible for a long time, then later it hiccups again and looks good again. I suppose if the movie was long enough it would happen again. I guess this happens because we have a DSL connection and it's on the borderline of being able to handle an HD stream. The Xbox cheerfully tries to send an HD stream and it doesn't quite work out. I'm actually looking forward to the Wii Netflix player because I'm hoping that by not trying to send us an HD stream we'll get much better overall results, although I imagine that Microsoft could make the Netflix client work better for use by having an option to stream SD resolution, and then upscale it on the Xbox. That would give us results similar to watching a DVD on the Xbox, and we are very pleased with how that looks so it would be great. Oh well.

Wife and I just watched "Let The Right One In" the other night. We both liked it. Also re-watched Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. Batman: TAS ruled so hard.

Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus - The absolute most ridiculous B movie I have ever seen. I laughed continuously at the ridiculous acting and situations in it.

I tried to watch Transmorphers for a laugh. I couldnt' get through 10 minutes of it. Maybe, I'll give this one a chance.

I watched Reign of Fire the other night. Interesting twist on the typical dragon movie. Christian Bale, Gerard Butler, and (surprisingly) Matthew McConaughey all had pretty good performances.
I Think I'm gonna be watching a shit ton of 24 now...
This, along with Prison Break and Bones. I can't wait for to watch Moon. I was just thinking about picking it up on blu ray this past weekend too. That website is pretty cool, I was always wondering if there was a list or something to see the upcoming instant movies.

Was what I used, but apparently they are calling it quits. Inputting change manually is crazy.
Looks like there is a ton of stuff headed to streaming on April 1, including almost all seasons of King of the Hill (even the ones not released on DVD).

That's awesome. Been wanting to get into some new TV. I'll probably check out 24 and I'll most certainly be checking out Arrested Development.

Wow... so much good stuff. Too bad I bought the seasons 1-5 boxed set of 24, and the season 6 DVDs, a year ago. I'm only through the first 3, though, so if I can finish them before they take it off, I'll watch season 7 on Netflix.

This movie begs to be watched just to ridicule it. My favorite scene is the airplane passenger.

Looks like I'll be queuing up X-Files from Day 1. Should make for a happy Easter :D

Beer Wars was the last thing I streamed.

Very interesting documentary about the beer industry and how the microbrews struggle to compete with the big 3 (two now that miller and coors merged). Recommend it, especially if you're a beer snob like me!

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along-Blog is pretty amazing, if you're into that sort of thing. Which, I honestly don't see why you wouldn't be, cause Joss Whedon + Neil Patrick Harris + Nathan Fillion + Musical = head asplode!

Does Netflix really take down certain titles from the Instant Queue after a while? The available titles through both my 360 and PS3 lists have been pretty bare bones.

yes. This happens near daily. Sites on the net track what comes on streaming and what goes off.

Might you have a good recommendation for a site that shows what they are removing?

Unfortunately streamingsoon.com is down forever, but feedfliks.com/streaming isn't terrible.

I have one or two others that I'll have to dig up.

Yep, but they're forced to. The studios only license the stuff to stream for a set amount of time.

Some stuff that doesn't sell at all anymore they can keep up indefinitely. Most stuff the studio doesn't want up permanently as they want people to buy the dvds/blu rays (or at least rent them) and not just have it available to stream anytime they want.

I don't find the list barebones at all--always have 75-100 things on there. But I watch TV, documentaries, indie films, foreign films and classics so I have pretty broad interests. It would be pretty barebones for people who only watch recent hollywood movies as the selection there isn't great. But that's what the disc service is for (and that's what you pay for, the streaming is a free bonus).

mtxbass1, thanks for those links. It is a shame that Netflix always seem to remove way more then they ever add. It looks like they are removing 2400+ titles in the next 2 weeks (most being April 1) and only adding 250+ titles.

They also list the removal date next to the titles in your instant queue. But, out of my list of 409 streaming movies, only 3 have removal dates right now.

I watched "Heroes" all seasons, after that I started on "Legend of the Seeker" caught up until the Princess episode (season 2)... and my favorite show on Netflix is "Spartacus blood and sand"

Today netflix got a ton of new tv shows: angel, buffy, king of the hill, 24, prison break, roswell, bones and the x-files.

I just finished watching everything they have to offer streaming for Mythbusters. Love that show. On to 30 Rock now.

I watched Ivan the Terrible (only Part I so far) from 1945 and I enjoyed it a lot last weekend. Sometimes B&W just feels more authentic... it's nice to get away from CGI for a bit every once in a while

oooh snap my friend told me that all seasons of X-files are now on netflix for streaming. Damn! I got a few years of catching up to do as I kinda dropped out from watching it after season 2 or 3.

I thought Shark 3: Megalodon was much more amusing and better scholcky B movie to laugh at. sharky vs Octo just gets more hype.

Guess I'll finally see what all the Arrested Development love is about.

Also added Wrong Side of Town, since it features Batista shooting Ja Rule in the head.

The best movie of all time is available for streaming: Monsturd. Citizen Kane is pure garbage compared to Monsturd. See also: Redneck Zombies.

It's hard not to laugh at Gob's entrance Final Countdown entrance music as he comes on stage. Fantastic show.

Hoping for an X-Files marathon here pretty soon. Haven't watched anything other than the movie since I was 14-15. Would love to relive the memories again, especially considering the boxset is always rediculously expensive.
Time to finally start on Bones and Prison Break!!!
I love Prison Break as a whole, but expect a big drop-off after the first season. It's not that the other ones were horrible. They're actually great TV, but the first season was MAGNIFICENT.
