What was the last CD you bought? - The Sequel
Porcupine Tree- Signify

It is the copy with their 95-96 demos. I have never heard any of these songs so I hope it's up to the quality of the albums that followed.
Personally I love all of PT's work. It just you have to approach each album with a different point of view because the beginning ones were more space rock (from the first album to around signify). Then stupid dream and lightbulb sun are more rock, and then the more metalish sound of In Absentia until today.

Last few pickups.
Dream Theater- Octavarium
Redemption- Snowfall on Judgement Day
Stratovarius- Elysium

Nice. Yeah all I need is Pablo Honey, The Bends, and Amnesiac. I pre-ordered The King of Limbs also but will pick up the regular vinyl on March 29th. I also want to get the In Rainbows Boxset even though I have the regular version. I would also like to get The Eraser and Phil's album Familial. I got half of the singles and need to eventually find the others at a decent price.

I need to be careful though since I need to save some money but the record store is far to tempting.

I got pretty lucky and found all but two of the 12"s for 33 cents each. I still need to get Paranoid Android and Street Spirit though. If you've already got In Rainbows, I wouldn't get the Discbox. All you're getting is a second CD plus extra art & photos. For that price (~$80), you can finish your collection of singles or albums.

In other news, part of my Insound order arrived today.

Modest Mouse - The Fruit That Ate Itself (LP)
The Dead Weather - Treat Me Like Your Mother/You Just Can't Win (7")

Turns out that Signify from Porcupine Tree is now my 2nd favorite after Stupid Dream.

Got these 2 yeasterday:
gui boratto- Chromophobia
gui boratto- Take My breath Away

I watched 'Everything is Illuminated' last week and read about Gogol Bordello. Some of the strangest music I've heard, they call it 'gypsy punk' which I think describe it really well. I think I like it a lot, but can't tell if it is too gimmicky for me.

By the way, is this the defacto talk about music thread?

SWANS - My Father Will Guide Me Up A Rope To The Sky (limited tour double disc version)
Michael Gira - The Milk of M. Gira (402/1000 handmade copies)

Both are signed by M. Gira. Expensive, but worth it I think.

Part 1 of my Go Hastings order came in today

Drill: Drill
The Dillinger Escape Plan: Option Paralysis

I Haven't even listened to the album, but Jesus the packaging in Option Paralysis is pretty awesome.

Part 2 of my Go Hastings Order. Today consisted of...

Method Man: 4:21...The Day After
Method Man: Tical
The Dillinger Escape Plan: Calculating Infinity

Part 3.

The Dillinger Escape Plan: Miss Machine (w/ DVD)

Agreed. I actually got the No Doubt album a couple weeks ago and forgot about this thread. I went there yesterday hoping for more music and scored a complete copy of Power Stone 2 on DC for $3. I think next weekend I'm going to be trolling every Goodwill within 20 miles.

Children of Bodom: Relentless Reckless Forever
Lupe Fiasco: L@sers
And for some reason I had some extra credit in my Amazon account so I got Kill Hannah: Wake Up The Sleepers as an MP3 album download.

How's the new Bodom album? I was thinking of picking it up but I didn't give the last one as many listens as I did with Are You Dead Yet?

Recent Purchases

Particle-Transformations: Live For The People
Devin Townsend- Terria
Devin Townsend- Ziltoid the Omniscient

That particle album excellent. Reminds me of a jam band but with a heavy electronica influence to it. If I have money left over from my Dragon Age II purchase (Assuming k-mart has the deal and everything works out), I will take a stop at the record store tonight near that mall. Hopefully I can find some post rock because it's been hell trying to find it around here.

I Liked it more then Blood Drunk in my time listening to it so far. I Think it's somewhere in between Are You Dead Yet? and Hate Crew Deathroll in terms of sound. Though of course it kinda goes without saying it's still no Follow The Reaper. So not bad.

That sounds promising, I'll go get it this weekend. Thanks.

Any word on the new REM cd? I'm thinking of picking it up soon or maybe when I pick up the new Strokes later this month. Any word from my fellow CAGers on how Stipe and co. did this time around?

It's ok. It's just one of those albums that's not bad but nothing you'd be missing, if you know what I mean.

I'm not sure if Vinyl counts but I just picked up Beach House Teen Dream.

Cotton Jones - Tall Hours in the Glowstream
Cotton Jones - Paranoid Cocoon
Nicole Atkins - Neptune City
Nicole Atkins - Mondo Amore

Almost picked up Josh Radin's "Rock & The Tide", but passed on it.
Lupe Fiasco - LASERS

Don't even get me started on that CD..
soooooooo you're saying you love it?

Just bought the new REM CD, Collapse Into Now last night for $10 at Best Buy. They were my favorite band growing up so I still buy their albums when a new one comes out. Gonna put it on my Zune and listen to it today!

The two records I was most excited about finding...

The Elephant 6 Orchestra - Welcome To Our Story (7", Tour Only, #138/500)
The Flaming Lips - Unconsciously Screamin' EP (Clear LP)

So I didn't pick up the new REM due to the price being way too high at my record store (15 or 16). Instead I found two albums I really wanted and could not find on my last 5 visits.

Agalloch- Marrow of the Spirit
Swervedriver- Mezcal Head
soooooooo you're saying you love it?
I wanted to! But the label had way too much say so on his CD. It came off as way more commercial than even he wanted.
