What's in the PS Store (5/31/16): Neon Chrome, Oxenfree, Primal, There Came an Echo, Plague Inc, & More!
Perhaps, but I just react badly when a company takes something which used to be free, and moves it into the pay column. I am not upset that cloud save game is only for PS+ because plus subscriptions probably drove/funded its development. Straight 50% becoming 60%/50, I wouldn't care as being PS+ gives you an added bonus, but the prospect of 50% becoming 50%/30% just rubs me the wrong way.
A discount is a discount. would you rather fewer discounts like live?
They announced a week or so ago that the game's name is officially Moon Diver. Considering they announced it a few weeks before it's release, they have to remind however many people knew it as Necromachina, though I don't recall ever hearing about the game before it's name was changed.
Yeah, funny thing about that official Squenix site's URL is still NecroMachina...

http://dlgames.square-enix.com/necromachina/

Eat Them is fine for what it is, but the way the story mode is handled isn't great. They just show a list of events that you need to beat and then you get a store event before going back to a group of events in that area to get to the next story event.

I'm looking forward to Slam Bolt Scrappers and Ghostbusters, as far as Spring Fever games are concerned.
Thanks for the opinion, I watch some British guys review on Youtube as well and it basically didn't do enough for me to even want to spend $5 on, I'll put it toward HC: U and MD instead.

I guess I'll translate since this is confusing people. He's saying that the rest of the Spring Fever deals (listed above) are 50% off rather than the 30%/50% split they have for the Gamers' Choice winners depending on whether you're a PS+ member or not.
Yeah I finally figured it out toward the end of my post when and then re-read all of Ro's posting's on the blog as well, (the dude seriously needs to learn how to write and include context with his messages, there was even confusion in another post of his...pretty bad for a community rep)
Can anyone comment on Castle Crashers as a single player game? I remember hearing that it was pretty difficult single player.
I found it boring personally, but as I read sometime this morning and saw it was developed by The Behemoth (guys who did Alien Hominid as well, and I didn't like that one either)

But to answer difficulty, the enemies like to circle around and back attack like any other cheap beat'em up, plus if you're going to play alone I don't think you'll enjoy it as much, I'd recommend Scott Pilgrim if you need to get your beat'em up fix that bad over Castle Crashers, but that's just me. ;)
Unrelated: really, really enjoying Explodemon.
Agreed, one of the better PSN exclusives out there, fun game too.

Anybody know when the 3.60 firmware's going to drop on the official site, I don't like d/l'ing through the system due to my internet malfunctioning, I guess it won't be available till later this evening, didn't know if anybody had any knowledge about when we might see it.
Yeah, funny thing about that official Squenix site's URL is still NecroMachina...

http://dlgames.square-enix.com/necromachina/
If they changed the url, any links to it would be broken, so it just redirects you to the game's true site url (http://dlgames.square-enix.com/moondiver/). They really should get rid of the necromachina site that fully loads before redirecting you to the official official site, though it probably won't happen because there are probably too many layers of people in charge of that stuff to really get it fixed.
Yeah I finally figured it out toward the end of my post when and then re-read all of Ro's posting's on the blog as well, (the dude seriously needs to learn how to write and include context with his messages, there was even confusion in another post of his...pretty bad for a community rep)
I don't think he's a Community Rep, but is a part of the PS Store team that is more in charge of getting the content on the store than talking to the readers. I'd imagine that it's just the way it makes sense in his internal thought process and posts that without proofreading it.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011...sy-hits-psn-315-with-lightning-aerith-unlock/

Some prologue for the new Dissidia game is coming next week:
5 MORE DAYS!!! That’s how long you’ll have to wait to get your hands on DISSIDIA duodecim prologus FINAL FANTASY. In case I’ve forgotten how to count, that means prologus will be available March 15th exclusively via the PlayStation Network for $2.99. The details will be posted on the official site later today. In the meanwhile, here’s a quick summary of why prologus is going to be so awesome straight from the press release:

Witness Lightning before the storm: Lightning, the protagonist of the popular FINAL FANTASY XIII, will be introduced to the DISSIDIA series for the first time. Players can enjoy a taste of the latest installment through a unique scenario featuring Lightning that will recount the events leading to DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY.

Carry-over items from DISSIDIA duodecim prologus FINAL FANTASY to DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY: Players can continue their journey and have the advantage of carrying over in-game items acquired in DISSIDIA duodecim prologus FINAL FANTASY for use in DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY.

Unlock a new character: By purchasing DISSIDIA duodecim prologus FINAL FANTASY, players will also receive the immensely popular Aerith Gainsborough from FINAL FANTASY VII as an Assist Character in DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY.

Not that I need to remind you, but DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] FINAL FANTASY will be available a week later on March 22.

i had fun with the beta but they want waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much money for that game. for the game itself as well as a sub service.

Good god, $60 + $11 a month to play a freaking game? No thank you.

I wonder if we can ever expect the Croc games to come to PSN? Legend of the Gobbos was a pretty decent game from what I remember. Never played the second, but it would be nice to be able to DL it...

I wished amazon would pricematch these psn sales. I got 10 dollars in credit I would really like to use on some games, but they're mostly msrps

just realized you can't use the bonus offer credits on online codes. fuck

I know that the ESRB rated it, but I don't know if a date was ever mentioned - Anyway, Amazon has a listing for a Parasite Eve game code at $5.99 coming March 15th -- so it looks like PE will finally hit the PSN this Tuesday.

I can't wait. I'm a huge PE fanatic (as many know) and I own both games as well as the imports of both games.. I will be buying this via PSN so I can have it on my PSP as well.

I very well may be the only person jumping on Kung-Fu Live this week. My lil one LOVES the demo. I couldn't tell you how many times he's played it. I just said to the wife the other night "I'm gonna have to get the full game here pretty soon for him" (He's 4 yrs old btw)

Thanks as usual for the updates Frisky.
p.s. If you haven't heard or seen the thread, FreeRealms will be out at the end of the month. I would assume you have to get it from the storefront unless it's implemented into a firmware update

edit:thanx frisky, I swear your post wasn't there when I hit quick reply :)

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/03/13/the-drop-week-of-march-14th-2011-new-releases/
This week's The Drop:
PlayStation Network

Slam Bolt Scrappers — Slam Bolt Scrappers is a mash up of building and brawling! Reach for the sky and build the greatest towers in Slam Bolt City while defending against deviously charming baddies and epic bosses. Play with up to three of your friends in the co-op campaign or go head to head in the simple, yet surprisingly deep competitive battle mode.

Hard Corps: Uprising – As homage to the legacy of Konami’s run-and-gun games, Hard Corps: Uprising brings an exciting new look to a traditionally retro genre, all the while keeping with the frenetic gameplay that defines the shooter category. The game follows the soldier Bahamut as he begins to rise in strength and write his legend. Multiple game modes allow seasoned pros to show off their skills and enable genre neophytes to reach victory.

Major League Baseball 2K11 (PSP) – Swing for the fences with the 2011/2012 edition of 2K Sports’ acclaimed baseball franchise. This portable version of Major League Baseball 2K11 lets players play through a wide variety of modes, from the simple slugfest of the Home Run Derby to the dramatic, grueling schedule of Season and Franchise modes. Players can even dip into the Minor Leagues and guide future stars to the big leagues.

Vertigo (PSP) – Vertigo is a high-rolling, adrenalin-fuelled combination of futuristic racing, puzzle solving and precision control. You are a Xorber, a member of most Elite Xorb racing corp. in the galaxy. Roll thunderously across 54 wild and challenging landscapes, through 9 different worlds, each with their own unique treacherous terrain and death defying obstacles.

PSN Demos

PlayStation Move Heroes
Slam Bolt Scrappers
Plants vs Zombies
Mortal Kombat
Crysis 2 Multiplayer Demo

PlayStation Portable

Gods Eater Burst (Also on on PSN) – The earth has been plagued by terrifying mutant beasts known as the Aragami and man’s only hope against them is the God Arc weapons and the God Eaters who wield them. Create your own hero and battle against many different types of these enemies, picking up items along the way to customize your weapons, guns, bullets and shields, boosting your strength and stamina in the massive scale fights.

Jikandia: The Timeless Land (Also on PSN) — In Jikandia, you must travel through dungeons in search of your friends. You can set the time limit for each dungeon yourself! Dungeons are altered in several ways according to the time limit you set, so no adventure is the same twice! The longer you spend in one, the more likely you’ll come across rare items and treasure chests… but you’ll also face more monsters and difficult traps. Up to four PSP systems can be linked to play in the Jikandia Coliseum timed stages where you can battle against your friends and dodge traps to win with the highest score!

Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy Prologus (Also on PSN) – The divine conflict between harmony and discord rages on, the fate of the world its promised prize. Fighting to secure it are brave souls summoned for that solitary purpose. These warriors, relying on what fragments of their shattered memories remain, fight to end the conflict — and for a chance to return home, to the worlds they each once knew.
PSone Classics

Parasite Eve – A fateful night at the opera house triggers in one woman the power to cause all those around her to spontaneously incinerate, and in another woman an innate resistance to the attack. You assume the role of the second woman New York cop Aya Brea as she comes to realize that the fate of humanity will be determined by her actions.

minis

Pix N Love Rush — This is a platformer game in which players guide a digitized character through side- and vertically-scrolling levels. Players earn points by collecting coins, avoiding hazards, and completing combos before the timer runs out.

Enigmo — Enigmo is a 3D puzzle game where you move various streams of flowing liquid so that the droplets get to their destination. Liquids (water, oil, and lava) fall from “droppers” and will bounce around the walls of a mechanism. You move and rotate into position various types of bumpers, sliders, accelerators, and sponges in order to divert the flow of the falling droplets. The faster you complete each level, the more bonus you will receive.

Ancient Game Treasures Mill — This is a board game in which players must line up three colored circles in a row to remove opponents’ pieces. To win, players can trap all of their opponent’s pieces or remove all but two of them from the board.
Parasite Eve will be $5.99.

Holy fuck, first Xenogears, then Vagrant Story, now Parasite Eve. That's like what, 3 square enix games in 30 days.

Well whenever it hits PSN I am in. Also going to try the Crysis 2 demo but I am expected to not be one bit impressed.
Can anyone comment on Castle Crashers as a single player game? I remember hearing that it was pretty difficult single player.
not at all. I've done it with two knights so far and it hasn't been that hard. The enemies will crowd you sure but it never reached a level of frustration. Even people who don't like the game I'm not sure they would say it's frustrating.

Single player can be boring and/or repetitive maybe. Especially if it's your second time thru, but hard/frustrating no.

Got an email about some free episodes of Funimation shows like Afro Samurai and Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood between 3/8 and 3/21 and FLCL and Trigun between 3/15 and 3/28.

Also, it seems that GameStop is sending out demo codes for MotorStorm Apocalypse out now, so check your emails to see if you got a code.

That's a shame because Dead Nation is fantastic. I've spent a good bit of time with it and it's well worth the price of admission.

Probably Not.
anyone try out the crysis 2 demo yet?
It's not out yet.

Just a heads up, I got an e-mail from gamestop saying that I am invited to the new motorstorm demo that starts today with a beta code. Going to see if the code works.

Also apparently according to the facebook page, the Shuma and Jill DLC are out today in America. The bad news is it's $4.99 per fucking character. Well I enjoyed MvC3 but looks like I wont be buy any DLC even though I really wanted too, but $4.99 a character is highway robbery.

Agreed. Dead Nation is a bargain at this price.

Didn't post it last week cause I forgot...

But if you don't want to go through the hassle of d/l codes, just go to the UK PSN store and d/l it from there, I got it last week, meant to post about it, but forgot every time I popped on the site to see what was up...

Didn't see the Crysis 2 demo there. I actually really enjoyed the multiplayer of the first game. The only problem was there was no one playing it and I mean no one. If they kept something similar, this might actually be really fun.

Well i smoked some hash last night and decided after ripping up some burn zombie burn to go ahead and spend $7.50 on deadnation.

Thanks for the update Frisky, much appreciated, lots of stuff to take a gander over this week.

I dunno what's a bigger slap to the face the prices of the HC:U characters or the MvC3 DLC characters, wow. :hot:

Nice to see all the free stuff on the update, gonna grab it, the MK demo, HC:U and the Slam Bolt Scrappers demo (on Frisky's recommendation).

Not a bad week, just not a great Spring Fever sale week for me personally.

and gosh 2.49 for a DLC character for Hardcorps
Glad I'm not the only one who is shocked by that fact as well. :whistle2:#

anyone ever get Resident Evil 3:gc: always wanted to get 'em all for cube but if there's no difference (outside of 1) I may consider just getting it on sale here rather than having to hunt down a :gc: copy when I get money.

From the wiki page:

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis is the last core title in the series to be released for the PlayStation. There have been three ports since the original release, for the following platforms: Dreamcast, PC, and Nintendo GameCube. The PC and Dreamcast versions allow the player to choose Jill's outfit in the main game from the start without going to the boutique, and include two additional outfits not present in the PlayStation version. The Mercenaries minigame is also available right from the start, and had the added feature of allowing players to post their top scores online on Capcom's official website (this function has since been discontinued). The Dreamcast version also utilized the VMU by displaying the characters' health status. The GameCube version is a direct port of the original PlayStation version with no added features other than an increased frame rate for FMV scenes, and smoother-looking character models.
That's how the Hard Corps characters were priced when it came out on XBLA.
Sorry, I usually don't follow what XBLA does with most stuff unless its something I'm really interested in (and then get jealous for not having , I'm looking at you Radiant Silvergun) So I didn't know that it was universal, but still, that's just ridiculously overpriced DLC for both games.

I see Myke summed it up a little more bluntly than me...

-----------

A question, does anybody know if the demo for Furi Furi! Ape Escape (Getchu Saru) is still up on the JPN PSN?

I looked for 30 minutes, did a search with the Kanji and only came up with a Gameplay video, 2 jpg's, and a 300 Yen Dynamic Theme (from what I could tell). The demo came out in Jan., but since this IS the JPN store I wouldn't be shocked if it was taken down already, surprised since its a Sony game, but not shocked.

If they took it down, I'll just wait for the US/UK release and grab it then (I'm trying to get the PSN Move demos in my D/L list for when I eventually get a Move) anyway if anybody knows I'd appreciate a heads up. ;)
From the wiki page:
I know what the wiki page says, but I'd say its more of a port of the DC / PC version. Due to the cleaner textures, better FMV quality, etc.

Similar to how Dino Crisis PC and DC share the same "DNA" and yet differ from the PS1 version. And also with RE2 on PC and DC as well, same story, cleaned up visuals/FMV and unlockables / extras right from the get go.

So if he can tolerate the low poly character models and such, go for it, but I personally own the PC version of every version (except 3 on DC) that I bought mainly because of the higher resolution character models and such. (I own RE2 on PS1 as well and the difference is quite noticeable between the two, same game, just one looks a lot nicer)
Nope.
Then that's why it's a port of the PS1 version, uncle5555. It's an upgraded port of the original game. They wouldn't port from the PC or DC version and spend resources to remove the extra content.

I only played dead nation for about 90 minutes but I wouldn't really recommend it. RE 3 for 3 bucks is a better deal. The controls in DN make me feel old and like i have tendinitis.
