What's in the PS Store (5/31/16): Neon Chrome, Oxenfree, Primal, There Came an Echo, Plague Inc, & More!
Then that's why it's a port of the PS1 version, uncle5555. It's an upgraded port of the original game. They wouldn't port from the PC or DC version and spend resources to remove the extra content.
Ok...? I'm confused, you asked me...

So RE3 on GC has all of the content of the DC/PC versions?
Whoknows pops in with...

With no additional explanation, I think we're both misinterpreting what we both read/wrote.

It's not a big deal, I just want to clear up the confusion is all.

**Lemme go do some research brb...**

Ok according to Wikipedia we have this for RE3...

The PC and Dreamcast versions allow the player to choose Jill's outfit in the main game from the start without going to the boutique, and include two additional outfits not present in the PlayStation version.

The Mercenaries minigame is also available right from the start, and had the added feature of allowing players to post their top scores online on Capcom's official website (this function has since been discontinued).

The Dreamcast version also utilized the VMU by displaying the characters' health status. The GameCube version is a direct port of the original PlayStation version with no added features other than an increased frame rate for FMV scenes, and smoother-looking character models.
Ok, so I'm wrong with what little extras were included (I wasn't 100% sure) however, the gfx, FMV and more than likely the DC/PC versions just ported over to GC. I know what it says above, but to counter what you mentioned, about spending additional resources, it wouldn't take much to remove or gimp a version by removing things.

Ok, did some more research via an FAQ on IGN...

http://faqs.ign.com/articles/378/378698p1.html

Q: Which version will the GCN version be ported from?
-----------------------------------------------------
::probably the Dreamcast or PC version. Dreamcast to GameCube ports, I here, are pretty easy. The PC version may also make it.

And that's just the point I was going to make, there are many examples of DC-->GC ports, and I thought they'd just do a straight port (content included) guess they went barebones. Makes me wonder why these versions were always so sought after then if they're inferior to the DC/PC versions? Rare or not...

Ok, final word, this is a direct comparison of all four versions, and since I don't want to derail the thread more than has already been done, this should take care of any lingering questions.

http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Resident_Evil_3:_Nemesis/Versions

The latest release of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, the GameCube version first came out in North America on January 14, 2003 to correlate with the release of Resident Evil (Nintendo GameCube). This version is a direct port of the PlayStation version but features anti-aliasing applied to three-dimensional models as well as cutscenes that play at sixty frames per second (instead of thirty). It has the same difficulty modes but does not feature the two extra alternative outfits, starting selection modes, or the ability to post "Operation: Mad Jackal" scores.

So depending on your definition of direct port (mine if 100% untouched, and looks to where we are on disagreement on) this one is an improved port similar to what the PC/DC versions did. So the GC version is NOT a barebones untouched port of RE3, yet a cleaner looking, smoother running version of the PS1 release.

Too much hassle over something so inconsequential, next time I'll just look up the info and be done with it. ;)

BACK on topic....anybody have any idea of what I asked about the Ape Escape Move demo on the JPN PSN?

If nobody knows that's fine, but if anyone can help I'd appreciate the help (as I can't find a definitive answer online anywhere, sadly enough)

(I didn't want that question to get lost in the search for the truth about the differences between RE3 and it's multiple ports)

So depending on your definition of direct port (mine if 100% untouched, and looks to where we are on disagreement on)
well it was the Wiki which said 'direct port' but it also qualified the statement.
From the wiki page: The GameCube version is a direct port of the original PlayStation version with no added features other than an increased frame rate for FMV scenes, and smoother-looking character models
For the record I thought you were rather clear on the subject Frisky. For $3 I might pass on the Lionel Ritchie SingStar pack for now and go ahead with RE3. Thanks.

Now that I finally have my hands on PvZ demo not worth $15 for me since I already own the PC version. With those controls I'd be surprised if I died even twice. I'll definitely hit it up if it goes on sale though.
I only played dead nation for about 90 minutes but I wouldn't really recommend it. RE 3 for 3 bucks is a better deal. The controls in DN make me feel old and like i have tendinitis.
I thought it helped to change the weapon/item switching to the X/Square/Triangle/Circle buttons, rather than the d-pad, but other than that, the controls work well.

I'm tempted to buy another 15 months and add it on (if possible). I've been a plus member for like 6 weeks and I feel like I've gotten most of my money's worth.
You sure did a lot of work just to admit you were wrong
I wasn't totally wrong (since the wiki page wasn't 100% right according to that other source I posted), but I'd rather have the truth stand on its own and admit I didn't have all the facts than act like a conceited @$$hole who doesn't admit their shortcomings because of ego. (and no I'm not making this comment to anyone here, it's just a generalization of some pompous people I've encountered over the years who always think they know everything and won't admit their mistakes)

In this case I admitted as much, however as I said I wanted more than just what little information was presented, and I found it, and presented it as such, and as such it said it was NOT a direct port. End of discussion as far as I see it.

Otherwise we can debate how to say tomato, waste of time, if we can't agree on the definition of the word. I don't see the need to argue/debate with Frisky over something so trivial, I respect him too much for that.

And I agree a lot of time spent for a non appreciative question asker.

Next time, I'll just tell the OP of the comment to hit Google and look himself, I found what he was looking for pretty easy, just an act of laziness on his part that caused a lot of unneeded nitpicking about the definition of a word for no good reason. :whistle2:|

And I still don't have any idea of that Ape Escape demo, and I'm personally more pissed off about that honestly, instead of derailing a thread over how the freakin' GC version of RE3 stands against the PS1 version, that's what Google or Gamefaqs is for...:nottalking:

Nice, SOCOM4 demo! Yeah PSN+ has been worth it for me so far. Going to take advantage of the Move Heroes trial as well as the free themes and avatars.

Wtf plus is letting me down this month. The only good thing is a demo, that basically requires a 130 dollar controller. Sweet! Comet Crash is looking pretty gay so hopefully i can play socom with a dualshock.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011...oming-may-2011-more-goodies-for-early-buyers/

Beyond Good & Evil HD won't be out on PSN for a bit longer than it took for Hard Corps (May), but they're offering a bonus to early buyers:

Along with releasing an HD version of one of our beloved classics, we are giving away a special present to PlayStation Network members who pick up the game within the first two weeks. Gamers who purchase Beyond Good & Evil HD within two weeks from launch will receive two free avatars.

thanks for the link! :D
guess, there's really nothing much to add..
maybe a dynamic theme? aha

hopefully they fixed the flaws found in the LIVE release
What real content would you expect for a game that was made eight years ago?
fixed.

It's a great game.

One thing I noticed about you is that your posts seem to think people are peronally attacking you whenever they quote or talk about what you posted. It could just be me, but whatever, doesnt matter. My original comment was more about all games in general. A lot of the pre order bonuses and other such giveaways now seem to be avatars and/or the screen saver things on the XMB. I dont get why anyone cares for them since they dont add any value whatsover to games. They are throwaways to me. Just my opinion and not attacking anyone for liking avatars at all. To each his own.

I don't think people are personally attacking me. It's just that if I see a post and it doesn't make sense to me, I'll ask for clarification because a lot of people just make vague points with no explanation.

I agree about wanting more bonus content for buying games early, or even for pre-ordering if Sony allowed it more often. DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue and a couple of PSP games are the only ones I can think of that offered extra content for buying it early.

Didn't know that the Beyond Good & Evil soundtrack was a limited deal, though I grabbed the download link from my download history. See if this works:

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/03/18/japan-tsunami-appeal-on-psn/

It’s been over a week since the devastating earthquake and tsunami hit Japan, inflicting serious loss of life and leaving hundreds of thousands homeless. The Japanese people, together with support and compassion from the global community, are beginning what will be a long recovery process.

Sony Computer Entertainment’s headquarters are located in Tokyo, and so we’ve heard firsthand of the disaster’s impact from our colleagues and friends. As we here in America watch the tragic events that continue to unfold, you might be left thinking, “Is there any way I can help?”

Sony Group is aiding the recovery through financial contributions and donations of radios, batteries and other equipment that can be used in the relief efforts. Today we’re making it possible for you to contribute directly to the earthquake and tsunami recovery efforts through a medium you’re already quite familiar with – the PlayStation Network.

You can make donations in the amount of $2, $5, $10, $25 and $50 from your wallet in the PlayStation Store. With your donation, you’ll get a free theme for your PlayStation 3. In order to make a donation, go to the “Aid Japan” area under the New Releases category on the PlayStation Store.

It’s important to note that your contributions will go directly to the American Red Cross – Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami Fund. Every penny donated will go to the fund, which supports emergency relief and recovery efforts, including deploying personnel, sending relief supplies and providing financial resources.

Many gamers in particular feel a special bond with Japan, even if they’ve never traveled there personally. Its ingenuity and innovation have shaped our industry, and its culture and style have brought a sense of community across the world.

Please join us now in helping the Japanese people during this great time of need. Together we can have a significant impact on the relief process.

I think buying things for charity is still charity, but you should subtract your ideal price for a game from what you paid. Meaning if you would have paid $20 for something anyways you have only given $15 ;)

Red Faction: Battlegrounds will be out on April 5 for $9.99 according to the email got offering it for free if I subscribed for PS+, which might finally get me to subscribe with the three month bonus deal expiring soon.

How often does this happen? I never visit the video store on PSN so I wasn't aware they ever have deals

They usually add new free episodes every week. Not that many, but one or two a week. That list is because Funimation and other anime companies started a promotion to put up free shows on PSN over the next few weeks.
