The story to the first game sets up the series, and I respect it for that, but it was a drag. What I've recommended in the past is if you can get your hands on AC1 to play the first 45 minutes or so (no trophies, so it won't clutter your list), then YouTube the rest of the story cutscenes before starting AC2. AC2 starts the minute that AC1 ends, so it's kind of important to have some idea what's going on, but I don't think you need to play the whole game.
 
I started with AC2 and didn't feel too confused at the beginning. It might help to have AC1 but you won't really know what you're missing if you don't see any of AC1 anyway, I think.

what he said. i never played the first one and started with the second and will pick up brotherhood when it hits 20 and am looking foward to the final game. the main reason i didnt try one was because it sounded like the game was a bit repetitive and maybe the game needed another version to iron out all the bugs and really bring the experience where it is now.

Here's hoping the Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition DLC still drops tomorrow. That along with the MK costumes/fatalities would make my week.
 
Is there any way to pause a download, turn off the PS3 and resume later? I am trying to download inFamous and it is taking a comically long 550 minutes.

I used it to download a bunch of themes so far as well as Sonic 2, Oddworld, and some of the free Mini's. If I can get a months worth of enjoyment out of them, I'll gladly buy a year - I've got the attention span of a four year old, and tend to jump around from game to game a lot.

First PSN "purchase" (not counting Infamous, Dead Nation, or the free membership) = Back To The Future.

I thought we were supposed to get an update Yesterday. Also, usually they do a lot of E3 coverage. I guess that with the server traffic being as heavy as it's been they decided to just wait.

Yeah, I did not see any mention to stuff being released today and since it's E3 I was curious. I want to see what's releasing so I can plan my purchases :lol:
 
Ok so apparently there is some unknown spirit guiding me to the Deals. I was going to try out the Assassin's Creed 2 trial and then if I liked it buy the PSN version so I started the download of it and some of my other welcome back games on Saturday night. My PS3 turns off sometime sunday morning. So I continue it into monday morning. My PS3 shuts off during the day on monday. So today was the earliest I could get my Assassin's Creed 2 trial and today the deluxe edition is on sale for 50% off and drops to $9.99

The hell, do I have some spirit guiding me to the ways of the cheap ass gamer for randomly shutting off my PS3 for no reason? :lol:

Probably. The rest of the week should have more trailers, the press conference, and a few other small things.

AC2 is a steal for $10.

I'm working thru Brotherhood right now. Anybody get the Da Vinci DLC? Worth a $5 buy or no? Are there trophies for it?

I think I'm getting Shank for $5. Also, if I were to get only one of the Deathspank games, can anybody recommend which one is better?
 
Anyone know when those Oddworld remakes are coming to PS3/PSN? I really want to play those.
Also, BG&E better make it here soon. I really want to play that in HD (I have the GCN version sitting here, but never played it). I really want to play it with a DS3 and in HD.
 
Question about Assassin’s Creed II Deluxe Edition. Anyone know if it's missing anything from the disc version of the game? Maybe Lineage (the live action video) or the Lineage behind the scenes video? Bloodlines connectivity?
 
I noticed that it didn't charge me the usual sales tax when I purchased AC II. First time for that but it has been a couple of months since I last bought something on PSN.

Maybe that's just their little way of saying thank you for having to wait 8 fucking hours for it to download.;)
 
I didn't pay tax when I bought BttF either, but I paid tax when I bought the PSN card.

Warhawk any fun? For $10, I'm tempted (along with AC2) enough to consider it. With the frequency of these deals, I'm hoping my 160GB HD is enough for a new-to-PS3 user.

You should be okay as long as you periodically delete game install files for disc-based games you don't plan to play for a while.

I think that's what I'm gonna do. I have a 80gig and I'm gonna have to make some choices on what to delete to get that on my HD. I'm also gona activate my PS+ for that Shank deal. Played the demo today and it was awesome.

I don't know if it's just me.. but when I go to the PS+ section of the EU store I see a bar that shows BG&E for 20% off (for PS+ users). I couldn't find it available to download anywhere in the store, so I thought that was odd..
 
Warhawk is a lot of fun as a multiplayer game from an era before Call of Duty became the standard multiplayer experience that everybody emulates now. If you have PS+, you can check out the full game trial to play some matches before buying it or you can play the demo, but I'm not sure if that's accessing the same servers in the full game or not.
 
Glad i bought dragon's lair and space ace while they were on sale. Thinking about getting shank or one of the deathspanks.
 
So when is the next update coming? Thursday?

I got a friend who is about up to Sony's neck for Beyond Good and Evil so I hope they release it soon for his sake :lol:.
 
Looks like I'll be getting the DLC for the Assassin's Creed II. Looks like 3 pieces. 2 Sequence 12's and a Sequence 13.

I missed out on the PS Mini: Arcade Air Hockey & Bowling for $1.99. :whistle2:(

I was going to pick that up in hopes that Air Hockey was like Nintendo's GBA E-reader version of Air Hockey. I never got that Air Hockey E-reader card that was free along with the Kirby Slider puzzle card.

I was only hoping Bowling was as good as a generic one I had on my very first cell phone. Would have been nice on my PSP, but was hesistant to buy since I couldn't find any reviews or videos, given the generic name of the Mini.

From what I've read AC 2 is superior to the first and you don't need knowledge of the first to play it, right?

Think I'll pick up a $20 PSN card instead of putting my debit back in.

I recommend watching the cutscenes for 1 on YouTube or something. It's not a good game, but the series is narrative driven so it may be confusing.
