I thought I remember it being 800 yen in Japan, and stuff that's that price is usually $8-$10 in the U.S. I'm hoping for $5 (that's an impulse buy), but that's just wishful thinking.

That game looks pretty good and there's no reason not to buy it at $3

wow, that chicken game looks like such an absurd amount of fun, and if it's really only $3 it's worth it to eat ramen instead of sushi for another day...

Looks like another boring goddamned puzzle game to me.

I'm holding out for more PSX games. It's pathetic what Sony's doing abroad compared to the US.

I think part of the problem is they just aren't performing too well in the U.S. (PS1 games), so SCEA doesn't really care right now about putting more up. Some may blame the games up, but many of those were high sellers before (and that's what they assume).

From what I also believe, SCEJ already has the licenses of many third party games, to release a PS1 download for it. In the U.S., Sony doesn't have them, and can really only do their own games mostly.
im hoping for at least a demo
Japan didn't get it, so I doubt we will.

Put your conjecture to bed, TMK, and quit making fucking excuses.

Some days I want to slap some 20/20 vision into your head, you're such a mongoloid.

I swear to fuckin' god, If your PS3 up and died on you, you'd somehow find a way to praise Sony for it.

I'm really sick of this once a week updates on minimal content. At least the PUZZLE games have a "Starter/Demo" usually, I enjoy that at least. The PSN needs to learn SO much from MS with demos for ALL "Arcade" games.

I still want BOWLING.

You're weird.

We'll see what happens.
I'm really sick of this once a week updates on minimal content.
Sony is NOT exactly being flooded with content from third parties themselves. How much of the XBL Marketplace content is MS stuff?? Not a whole lot, because there's a crapload of third parties putting games out. On PSN, many third parties are not supporting PSN yet, and many third parties aren't bothering putting a PS3 demo out due to the tiny PS3 user base and many developers are still finishing the PS3 version up until release (while the 360 version is usually finished due to being the lead platform, so a dev will normally work on a 360 demo).
At least the PUZZLE games have a "Starter/Demo" usually, I enjoy that at least. The PSN needs to learn SO much from MS with demos for ALL "Arcade" games.
Sony isn't MS here. Secondly, some games would have to be pushed back more to get a demo out. People want Sony to release content quickly, and if they do, this is what they'll get.

Personally, I don't always care, because most games I badly want don't have a demo, and the games I'm unsure of do. I buy most PSN games anyway, just like those who buy an XBLA game every week regardless of quality.
I still want BOWLING.
It isn't finished yet, and I doubt anyone will want the game, especially from the mediocre impressions most everyone who played it had to say.
Japan didn't get it, so I doubt we will.
I meant I just want a demo of anything

What are you guys talking about, Sony is perfect. They never make mistakes.

They go out of their way every week to give us some trailers for awesome movies like My Summer Vacation and the Astronaut Farmer and this is the thanks they get? why, you're lucky you're getting anything at all! They don't have to put anything on there, then how would you feel, eh? *wags finger*

All you guys do this just about once a week

Heh Heh Heh...

Here's a nice tip on organizing your videos until we get folders.

Another good idea is to use spaces at the beginning of the file name, as a way to sort your files since we can't make folders (yet).
(my movie trailers start with three spaces, E3 videos with two, game trailers with one)

I am unimpressed by this weeks offering. After receiving the HS demo, followed by the GRAW2 and Darkness demos, I was hoping this would become a trend. Guess not. The puzzle game looks alright. The only reason I would consider it is because there is nothing else and $3 is damn cheap. Still not sure if it is worth even that though. Not a huge fan of the puzzle games, unless they have a good multiplayer mode.
I'm really not understanding the lack of PS1 games on the PSN. The PSX collection is colossal--is the emulation that hard?
They are straight ports, so I can't imagine that they are that hard. It makes perfect sense for Sony to release more PS1 games. Easy cash and helps bring content during these slow times. Maybe there is something I am overlooking, but, from Sony's point of view, it seems like a no-brainer to me.

Sony Japan knows how to get it done.

They have what, over 80 PSX games up?

97.

Meanwhile, we still have 12.

9 games came out on 5/3
2 games came out on 6/21
1 game came out on 7/19

That's *IT*.

I just want to slap someone at Sony. They're obviously fucking off ATM relative to JPN. I don't even want to reason with them, or ask them nicely for a PSX game. I just want one (or two) good, hard, loud cracks to the fuckin' face, and for them to listen long enough to hear me yell "BAD! BAD SONY!" Maybe crack a rolled up newspaper on their nose or something.

Everything Nintendo is getting right this gen, and MS is getting right this gen, Sony is fucking up something *SPECTACULAR* with the PSN content.

fuckin' fred claus, I swear to god...

All this Fred Claus mentions... I'm gonna download that trailer now.

Holy Crap.

I went over to the PS forums to read people's reactions to this week's update, and the overall sad state of PSN updates and downloadables.

EVERY motherfucker over there is like 10 Mana Knights combined, and those few people that complain get their threads locked within the hour. One that was closed that I saw was a thread that said (paraphrased) "Why does 360 get all these demos like Stranglehold, APF2K8, Harry Potter, etc, but PSN gets squat?"

Wow. What a fuckin' (and I hate this word) fanboy zone.

then again, most official forums are swarmed with those types for obvious reasons... I wonder how bad the mods are and if they're still in middle school.

Yeah, I love my PS3.... waaay more than my Wii, and as much as much 360, but the PSN sucks. They need to redesign it, and put some good content up. I really would like to see the original GTA games, Final Fantasy Tactics, Silent Hill, Twisted Metal 2, Parasite Eve, Tony Hawk 1 & 2, Resident Evil 1 & 2, and of course soem good original games as well. Oh yeah, and PLEASE IMPROVE DOWNLOAD SPEEDS!!! It takes me over two hours to download a 1gb demo.

I'll be the 9,000th person to iterate that the PSN sucks. It's content is a giant dog turd compared to what the 360 and Wii have to offer. It's a good thing I put custom firmware on my PSP, so I can just drop my own PSX games on it. It would be nice to use them on the PS3 though.

The lack of demos is a another huge problem for me. Where the fuck are they? Are developers just refusing to make them, or is Sony not trying to push them enough to put one out?

Myke, drop me a line when you get ready to punch Sony peeps in the face, as I think I will join you.

I think it's up to third parties as well, they're not supplying Sony with demos.

Sony: Hey guyz, can we have a demo for your game that comes out in a few weeks?
Dev: Kinda busy right now preparing for convention. Try back later.
Sony: Kaaaaay.................

lol x2 fixed

I really wonder what's going through their minds. The PSN is a goldmine, but they barely move a rock, take a break, and sing praises to themselves for the progress they've made:whistle2:\"

Seriously, by today they could've pumped out at least 120 PS1 titles if they were on the ball. If people can do this with popstation in the comfort of their own home, then what's keeping Sony from making official ports to PSN?!?!?

As for the PS1 games, no fucking excuse at all. A library that would put Nintendo's virtual console to shame, and it sits there untapped.
As for the PS1 games, no fucking excuse at all. A library that would put Nintendo's virtual console to shame, and it sits there untapped.
Let me put it this way:

Square will never release anything on PSN because they said themselves they don't believe in digital distribution. The rather remake their games all over the place, then charge FULL price for it to make as much as they can off of it. An example would be porting FFVII to PSP and charging $39.99 (PSP has a bigger userbase than PS3, and they could get away charging full price for it).

For many other 3rd parties, $5.99 is just too cheap for them. How many third party N64 games have appeared on Virtual Console?? None, because 3D games are more difficult to emulate, cost more money (although not as big as developing a game), and they would probably want to charge more for it. Emulating SNES, Genesis, NES, etc. games are so easy and you wouldn't have to sell a thing to make a profit (plus, you better bet devs are having fun charging $4-$8 for old games on VC).

Let me just put it this way, PS1 games AREN'T selling too good on PSN (in the U.S. especially). Many of those games were greatest hits if they were popular. You think Sony really cares about bothering about other games if no one is buying them (and they aren't as easy to emulate compared 2D 8-16 bit games). Also, it's not just a matter of doing a straight emulation, Sony has to reconfigure the game to work on BOTH PSP AND PS3. On the PSP, they gotta think of a control scheme that works, along with adding settings to the game. And it's not just doing the emulation, they gotta play through the game making sure there are NO bugs and runs efficiently. If Sony was just putting PS1 games to be played on PS3 (not PSP), their job might be easier.

And even if Sony puts up more PS1 games, I guarantee people will still be bitching, because I almost guarantee they aren't putting many (or if at all) niche games like Tomba, Wild Arms 2, etc. They'd probably put stuff like Syphon Filter 2, Crash Bandicoot 2, Sypro The Dragon, Cool Boarders 2, and a bunch of other games that don't hold up too well now (I could see them putting up Twisted Metal 2, which some may want).

However, if Sony ever does put more PS1 games up, it won't be until some sort of pre-paid cards are out.

If you want to complain to Sony, doing it here will not help; however, doing at this place will. I already contacted them myself before and told them my complaints. They DO listen.

As for other demos, blame third parties for not having demos up. As for 1st party demos, the Lair developers admitted they were very busy trying to finish up the game and there would be no demo until they finish the game (there's an old Lair demo from the Consumer Electronic Show, but it's buggy and if Sony were to release it, Lair would lose more potential sales). Ratchet & Clank, Folklore, etc. will not come until near release. Not just SCE does this, MS does this with their demos too (Blue Dragon demo didn't come until just before a month before release, same with N3, etc. Some demos came after, like Viva Pinata. Sony and MS are no different with their disc based game demos, it's just that MS has the 3rd party support while Sony does not).

Read the post above your post.

The Superbad trailer was great. I'm definitely going to see it. I need to pick up Piyotama, as it looks like the type of puzzle game I enjoy and it's cheap.

The PSP has the same button configuration as the PS1 (besides the second analog stick which is still the Sony's biggest PSP oversight).

And what's wrong with demos coming out a month before release?
