There was also the 3rd party XBand that allowed people with a Genesis or SNES to play each other online. I think it might have had leader boards and stuff too. (Even the name is similar to XBox)
Not to get into this argument, but the SNES had something in Japan called the Satellaview, which was an online service that allowed people to download games.

It's not quite the same thing we'd think of today, but it's close enough to be considered in terms of online gaming.
Touche , don't know how I completly forgot about that.

I suppose on that same note , I should have taken note that the N64 had a simple online service along with the 64DD in japan.

Edit: ChibiJosh you read my mind. I was gonna mention the Xband , but didn't since it was 3rd party.

I am having trouble with my virtual console games. The screen is all jerky and flickers on and off while I try to play the games. This goes away when I play a Wii/GC game or go to the Wii menu, it only happens during the games. Any ideas how to fix this?

I'm sure they wanted to launch the SMS area of the Virtual Console with something about as close as they can get to a "franchise character" for that system, but releasing the SMS Wonder Boy when they already have the NES Adventure Island available is lame as hell. It's the same fucking game.

It should have been an Alex Kidd game.

these are for if no one knows about what Strell is talking about. There some pretty quirky stuff released on the satellaview..this was XBOX live before XBOX Live with weekly releases and news and stuff.
That is the least likely thing ever.
Are you forgetting a series called EarthBound? (or Mother, I suppose)
The least likely thing ever would be Earthbound getting any sort of US virtual console representation.

1000 points for Cruisin' is silly, IMO -- it's not that good. 500 points, sure, but not 1000.

San Francisco Rush, on the other hand, is a steal at 1000 points...!

I'd love to see both the Rush games from the N64 on the VC. I'd happily blow an entire Points card for those two games.
i kind of want cruisn usa but don't want to pay 10 dollars. hmmm
I was the same way. Then a couple of nights ago I got the chance to play the arcade version and was not impressed - for not much more money you could get Excite Truck, which is much more fun.

Always been interested in trying the cruisin games , but always passed them up due to there mixed reviews. Might end up downloading USA now , and hope they eventually release World and Exotica as well.

I already have San Francisco Rush "Alkatraz edition" on my midway arcade treasures 3 game , so I'm not really interested in the 64 game , rush 2 on the other hand I'd like , especially since I never really had the chance to play it.

Yeah, Japan can go fuck themselves.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Famicom, 1 player, 600 Wii Points)
Sky Kid (Famicom, 1-2 players, 500 Wii Points)
Cheetahmen II (Famicom, 1 player, 500 Wii Points)
Musha Aleste (Mega Drive, 1 player, 600 Wii Points)
Crest of Wolf (Riot Zone) (PC Engine, 1 player, 800 Wii Points)
Legend of Valkyrie (PC Engine, 1 player, 600 Wii Points)
Man, Nintendo sure can hold a grudge, World War II ended like 63 years ago.
Next weeks VC Tuesday in Japan:

Mother 3 (Game Boy Advance, 1 Player, 800 points)

Best. Quote. Ever. ROFL

Edit: I wonder if it's the Japan headquarters responsibility to tell the US office what to release for the VC?

I didnt know Gamestop reduced wii points cards from 25 to 20(the VC channels price). I bought one to replace the sonic and the secret rings box I lost (been keeping it in a sleeve for a while now).

Anyways, I flipped throught the ''manual'' and promotional stuff, and realised they still have Project Hammer in the upcoming games leaflet :D
Wii points cards come in cases? I always see them in those clear blister pack things.
Complete with cardboard disc. I wonder if it loads into the wii...

*runs off to check*

I never realized the case version was an actual product. I always thought that was just a display GS used for their shelves! I've never seen it in any other store.
Should I get my hopes up for some tmnt 2, and 3 on nes. Also Iv on snes that would be awesome... maybe one day...maybe one day...
The original TMNT is out, so there's nothing stopping the other games.

I'm thinking nothing.

I'd like to see TMNT 3 and the genesis one myself since I've barely played either of them compared to TMNT 1 , 2 and 4.
Dude said that the disc was made out of cardboard.
I did the exact same thing. I completly tuned out the part that said the DISK was cardboard.

I expected Parasol Stars to be on the virtual console already... I'm pretty shocked it isn't. My roommate and I were playing Bubble Bobble tonight, I started telling her how awesome Parasol Stars was, tried to download it but couldn't find it... unfortunate. That's my #1 pick.

For those who can't figure it out, send an email with the following games:
EarthBound (SNES)
Super Mario RPG (SNES)
[wild card, but make it good]
[wild card, but make it good]
[wild card, but make it good]

My wild cards are EarthBound (NES), Super Mario All-Stars (SNES), and something else... can't quite decide.
I don't think asking for LoZ:MM will do any good, they probably have that waiting for a special day.

Ya know, I thought that it's a pretty good idea until I read this.

What classic games do you want to see come to Virtual Console? Send us up to five picks (only for systems currently represented on Virtual Console) at [email protected]. We'll print results in an upcoming issue. Note: This is for polling purposes only, and will in no way determine future Virtual Console releases.

Hm ya, I agree with Boo.

I'm still waiting for Aerobiz/Aerobiz Supersonic, along with Zombies Ate My Neighbors (wasn't that already rated like in early 2007?)

I emailed:

Earthbound SNES
Super Mario RPG SNES
Final Fantasy 3/6 USA SNES
Shining Force 2 Genesis
Chrono Trigger SNES

I hope any of those games come soon :D

Even if it isn't official, would it really kill you to take 2 minutes to send an e-mail? There's no harm in doing it. Maybe Nintendo will take notice when something like Earthbound has 80% of the vote because of people like Starmen.net.
