....Did a bunch of posts get deleted out of this thread? Or am I making that up?
Either this, or the Wii Storage Space thread. There are a bunch of posts that are gone, though, and I don't know why - they were on topic, they weren't hostile or disruptive...and now they're gone without any kind of explanation. :whistle2:k

What in the fuck is going on with the mods these days?

Whoever has the power trip - go take a nap. Seems like you need it. Now you realize what your nanny was talking about when she said you'd get cranky in the late afternoon.
What in the fuck is going on with the mods these days?
I don't know, but it seems like there have been more and more questionable or just plain bad judgment calls as of late. Not enough to cause significant problems on the site, but there's been a noticeable increase in the past year or so.

Seriously, why were those posts deleted? Is there any good justification for that?

Well did someone complain? And if someone did, were they in the conversation? Were they out of it? Or was it just some wayward mod pretending they had a clue, even though they clearly didn't?

All the posts were on topic and were genial to each other. There's no damn reason until someone speaks up, and I'm betting no one will.

And since it seems like we're never going to get an answer on this, I might as well bitch about it, right? Or is this going to get deleted and/or accrue some internetz demeritz too?

It'd be one hell of a stretch to justify infractions for this conversation. Of course, it was a stretch to delete the other conversation too.

Well the storage thread is still there, and doesn't seem to have lost any posts.

Of course, it didn't gain the ones that were deleted out of here either.

Doesn't matter though - the issue is what is going on here.

You know, mods - you're an authoritative force. Which means you are subject to criticism when you overstep your bounds.

I'm really sorry you think none of us are intelligent enough to notice a bunch of deleted posts, and therefore have reason to ask why they were deleted.

I hope lilboo sees this. I imagine he's the only one around here that would get any kind of honest response.

I'll admit one of my posts should have been toned down... but most if not all of the other posts by everybody were fine...

Nintendo's cocky attitude is just pissing everybody off. If it weren't for those DAMN GEEKS AND OTAKUS, nobody would have a storage issue.

Bottomline is now Nintendo is rolling in cash printed by older, less spendy gamers. Gamers that might stop at a DS Lite and Brain Age 1 & 2, or gamers that had a Wii for a year and just own Wii Sports, Wii Fit, and maybe a game like Wii Play or Game Party etc.

But what happens when these people move on? What happens if Nintendo's next console doesn't do so well because of some boneheaded decision similar to carts with the N64, releasing GB Micro when SP was doing so well, E-Reader, GBA->GCN cable, etc.

Nintendo is making a HUGE mistake alienating their diehard fans instead of embracing them. Because now their fans might not get them through another N64/GCN. (I think the N64 and GCN are great systems, but seriously, they were a flop in comparison to Wii/DS)

"Get them through it?"

The N64 and GameCube may not have been the most popular consoles in their generations, but they still made more than enough of a profit to keep Nintendo in the game.

Besides, even if the Wii's successor falls off the map, I don't think it'll be a problem. Given how slow Nintendo has been to respond to the casual market, I don't think they'd have a problem making a quick retreat to safer waters, and the kind of amazing franchise titles that kept the N64 and GameCube alive when third party support couldn't have.

Nintendo Europe’s senior marketing director, Laurent Fischer, has issued a statement to videogaming247 saying he regrets saying that only “geeks and otaku” care about the issue of Wii storage, and never meant to cause offence.

“I have huge respect for those who, like me, share a common passion for Nintendo and want to make it clear that I would never use and I didn’t use this terminology in such a context or way to cause offence,” he said.

“I regret that this misunderstanding has created such offence and disappointment within the community.”

Can't we all just get along?

For crying out loud. Those posts were still on topic, and at the very least they should have been moved to the storage thread if a mod felt otherwise. There was a legitimate discussion on the pros/cons of Wii storage (or lack thereof) with concerns to the VC.

Unfortunately, we can't make a real counter complaint due to lack of reasoning and who might have done it. Real smooth.

1. I don't know why the posts were removed, but why is Lilboo's dirty comment still there when my post saying hit was nasty was removed
2. I am the only one who is impressed that the nintendo rep knew what Otaku is? THey're idiiots for allienated the people who would spend the most money, but they are worldly.

This was my tip off that a bunch of posts had gotten deleted, actually. I saw LB's post and then someone's after it, and realized that your response was gone.

Great job, mods. Really.

Maybe , instead of continually rehashing of the Wii storage issue that has been beaten so thoroughly into the ground that everyone is completely sick of it, they just wanted the thread to be about, you know, GAMES?

Just a thought! ;)

 My dirty comments are just invincible!

But seriously. This is WHY I should be a MOD. People like Linkin just come and do whatever he wants to whatever he sees fit.. despite what's actually going on.

In other news, I am excited for the eventual Super Mario RPG. It WILL be here sometime in July. Why? LB goes on vacation July 11-19. So expect it to be that Monday.

I know you think you're big stuff because you have a thread on it in which you basically call out people with a different opinion than your own, but that doesn't change the facts here.

I didn't even bring it up in this thread, or at least didn't start the most recent discussion on it. So I have no clue why you are acting like you're somehow so much better than anyone else about it.

I'd point out that your specific comment has absolutely nothing to do at all with gaming or anything else relevant to this thread, and is actually far more justified for deletion by some insane power-trippin' mod, but I think you're cheeky enough to know that, right?

Not sure exactly why you would think I would think I was "big stuff"; everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion, even if I don't share it. I was just saying that we've all beaten this Wii storage issue into the ground. Seriously, what more is there to say? Wouldn't we all have more fun talking about the games we would like to have to occupy the space we don't have?

That's all I was saying. Sorry if I offended anyone.

I would love to play tecmo superbowl online.
The first mariokart should be online also.
And where are the good n64 games.:bouncy:

You have to realize, a lot of lilboo's posts lead or have some type of innuendo to them. So we all gotten used to them and well some people love his posts.

Well as for posts being removed, I am not going to really say anything. I am not mad that we were having a discussion about the issue, but the mods do have a point, having a flame war about a topic about the Wii will get us nowhere since we have no control over it. If we are just going to argue everybody will be getting more pissed and by the end of it and get nowhere.

As for Mario RPG, it will come out when there is no possible way that I could download it. So either my router will take a shit, my power will go out, or something that will prevent me from downloading the fucker, lol.

Except the mods haven't said anything or hinted that they have. They just up and took out 2 pages of material for no reason.

It wasn't even a flame war. I don't recall any insults directly aimed at anyone, unless I somehow missed every post on the matter. Seems like no one else found anything all that offensive either.

The only way it got deleted is if someone complained specifically and the mods took out everything, or a mod took out some reported post + many more that they deemed offensive, or they just happened to waltz in and - being thoroughly out of touch with this entire forum as they usually are - just went ahead and got rid of stuff for no reason other than their own clueless conclusions.

It doesn't help that there's threads about this issue almost every week and I never see them getting closed. See the threads about DLC in GH3 - there was one a few months ago, and then another recently. Both are directly related to this issue. Why aren't they closed?

Let's not play pretend when it comes to facts. Someone can either speak up with a warning or tell us to take it elsewhere. Just dumping some 40 responses without justification other than "I'm a big bad mod oogy boogy" is ludicrous.

A whole day and I know some mods are aware of this, but none of them have spoken up. Classy.

there really needs to be a system of sending out PMs when posts/threads get deleted and reasons within them.

Of course, it doesent affect me because my posts never get deleted because I'm awesome

They don't get deleted because they originate from the UK, and thus are covered in knicker puddings and meatpie crumpets, but protected by a police force whose hats are large enough to shelter many small mammals.

All manner of defenses so absurd that our powers of elimination are negated, replaced instead with pity.

Eh gobnah?

Right right wot wot.
I am NOT looking forward to tomorrow's releases

(Let's hope this works in order to get some good, decent releases)
If lilboo's wacky sexcapades can't do it, do you really think your lowly reverse psychology will? :nottalking:

In terms of WiiWare, we still have yet to see Gyrostarr, Magnetica, and World of Goo. World of Goo hasn't released anywhere, but the first two have appeared in both Japan and Europe. :whistle2:k

As for the VC front, an ESRB rating has got to mean something. That's right...it's Pro Wrestling time!

I actually have a theory now that Nintendo is trying to actively discourage further VC releases, and wants to slowly diminish it as a bullet point for their system.

I can't really figure out why exactly. Maybe they are finding it more difficult than they planned to get all the licensing/rights in order to release various games. Or maybe they have seen the increase in emulators/homebrew leading to a decrease in sales (which I want to point out I am framing from a PURE PARANOIA angle, and not from any sort of honest factual basis, much like the RIAA/MPAA's actions for the last 10 years). Or maybe no one wants to release their games on the VC because either Sony or Microsoft is offering them the ability to do so on their own systems, perhaps even paying them up front. Or maybe companies want to release updated versions (Bionic Commando). Or maybe companies simply want to hold onto their properties (Squeenix).

Whatever the reason, I think Nintendo might honestly try to transition VC releases into Wiiware releases, headlining the entire downloadable-game angle as something that includes "fresh new software." This will allow them to say that a Wiiware game - for all intents and purposes - is "equal" to "2-3 VC games," since it is "new" and has "new graphics" and "offers new gameplay choices."

This all said, despite the hopeful-lessness (a word I just made up, signifying false hope despite initial hopeful appearances) of Earthbound being rated and SMRPG supposedly coming out, I'm really thinking the VC is falling out of the picture. I'm sure the 10 million downloads in one year doesn't help Nintendo's bean-counters, since they know that represents a small number of people honestly using the service. Further, if GoNintendo's reports are to be believed, then only Nintendo first party software consistently sells well on the service (the top ten is repeatedly Mario and Zelda titles), which basically says to third parties that it's a wasted endeavor that won't have good returns.

I really, really hope I'm wrong about all of this. But Nintendo knows they can kill two birds with one stone here - slow/stop the VC releases = less space can be taken up by them = Nintendo's asinine way of dealing with that issue, and getting people like me to shut up.

So yeah. Faith = zero. Levels have been falling rapidly for months now, but this is literally rock bottom at this point.

I mean we've reached a point where even us hardcore-ites with disposable cash simply don't fucking care about the releases. That's just pathetic.
Or maybe companies want to release updated versions (Bionic Commando). Or maybe companies simply want to hold onto their properties (Squeenix).
This is the reason I keep coming up with. Because our beloved Square-Enix likes to keep their properties close to its breast, I'm expecting to never see any of the titles I really want, of which include Chrono Trigger and Mario RPG. Not to say that only Squeenix is thinking this way; they may simply be the only ones to admit it. Given also the major slowdown of VC releases, I have supremely low expectations every week, and so far, they have been met.

Aside from a brief inquiry into anyone knowing what may be on the plate for tomorrow, I have to ask... what is that whole "I want to music" thing about? Where did it come from? I can't figure it out! :bomb:

Can you PM me about IWTM too? I think I get it but I'm not 100% sure.

And how many points is Magnetica in Eur/Japan?

I was curious about it as well. I remember reading an explanation about it in the OTT , although I don't know how much truth there was to it (not that there was anything wrong with the explanation given per se , I'm just sayin).

I will be extremely pissed if that is true. The VC was the main reason I wanted the Nintendo Wii, and it was also the main driving force behind selling off my other systems, since I figured the Wii would give me a good mix of old and new. So far, I've been pretty much completely wrong in that thinking.
so again, what's coming out on monday?
Just like the last month, you'll have to wait until tomorrow.

Wiiware is nice but FF:CC is no Pilotwings 64 or Mario RPG. If you want to stop this service, I know that I will be getting my games elsewhere.
so again, what's coming out on monday?
No one knows, but don't get your hopes up for anything. For me, I am getting up, logging on, seeing the crap on the VC, saying fuck you Nintendo (for the crap), then playing Warcraft, lol.

Unless Mario RPG or Earthbound comes out because then I will be cleaning up myself after I shit my pants in amazement, lol.

We'll, Nintendo thinks we don't deserve Super Mario RPG, Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, and other good games since we're geeks and otaku.

And just to really piss on all of you, the next Smash Bros. will replace Mario, Link, and Samus with a Michael Jackson Mii, Prof. Kawashima, and a Nintendog. The new third-party characters will be Guitar Hero III Slash and John Madden.

Yukine is just jealous I create things and he doesn't.

Don't worry, yukine. Your mom and I still consider you the crappiest thing I've ever made. Because I am your daddy.
