Not mentioned by major coming up is some dlc for mark of the ninja. Saw an ad for it on the dash that linked to just the game, but used Internet to see that some levels and weapons pack are coming aug 16. For 400 msp. Sweet.
I think the Mark of the Ninja DLC only adds 1 new mission plus the other stuff

Sales this week seem kind of weak, but Rumble Roses for $10 the week after seems pretty interesting. I suppose I'll need to re-buy Gold, but I need to practice VF5 again anyway.

No, I don't have any shame about playing porn games.
Just so everyone knows Rumble Roses has been $9.99 Preowned at GS for the past like 3-4 years. So its cheaper to buy physical.

Rumble Roses is a completionists nightmare. And if I remember correctly I think that game is from like 2006 near launch.
It really is. I Beat it with one character and looked at the achievement list and said fuck it after about 12-15 hours and only getting one achievement. Not to mention there's really a lack of any gameplay options in the game.

1 New prequel mission where you play as the tattoo artist, new lethal takedown, one new non lethal takedown, commentary on levels and I think a new costume ability. Oh and adds 100 new cheezmints.

The Hitman HD on the marketplace only includes 2 games. Blood Money is separate (and also on sale). From the description on xbox.com:[/quote]
Ah good to know! I thought $15 for 3 games was a steal, but for 2 makes it less so lol. That does make it easy to keep my disc and solves that. Now whether I should wait for a $10 version of the HD set or not is still debatable.

I'm sad 360 users have to wait an extra month for DuckTales too... So I bought it on PSN. I couldn't wait a month. My nostalgia demands it today ;)

I think will skip this. Doubt this mission will last longer than 15-20 minutes.

Hell, in last couple of months i bought some GoD games for the same price or less (Bully cost me only 100msp) lol.

Dammit, I'm tempted to pick up Hitman Blood Money for $10, but I'm waiting for Hitman Absolution to hit $10 again, as I missed it at that price somewhat recently when it hit that price point, and I'd rather buy that one.

I'd normally say no as well, but goddamn Mark of the Ninja was so good that I feel I have to buy it out of principle.

Yeah, it is. For completion (achieves) you have to buy all the stuff in the shop with each character...including the 30 create-a-character slots. Ugh. Personally, I think the PS2 Rumble Roses was more fun.

If you don't care about used, Gamefly has it for $10 right now.

- Silent HD Collection - $20 (Great games, but this is another one where the PS3 got an extra patch that the Xbox didn't (mostly likely due to the patch cost and the small Japanese Xbox fanbase), which addressed the FPS issues, this is a decent price though, since a new copy runs for about $30 is getting increasingly harder to find).
I was thinking of buying this until you mentioned the patch. What is the issue with the Xbox version exactly?

I am downloading the Hitman:Blood Money demo to try it otherwise nothing for me this week.

Next week looks better with Peace Walker and (maybe) Zone of the Enders purchases.

What is Otomedius Excellent?

Konami lost the code to the original games so they had to build a lot from scratch or beta builds of them. Not a lot of QA was done on this release so it's very buggy and had issues where textures don't load or even with frame-rates. Plus for some reason some idiot at Konami who didn't understand the whole idea of Silent Hill decided that for an HD release that they should remove the fog. So there's no fog in Silent Hill 2 and the game looks and plays like garbage because of that. On top of this there are countless bugs and glitches. Many reviewers considered the HD version broken and gave Konami hell for releasing a patch for the PS3 only. Watch some video reviews to find out more. But basically this was re-released without any love and it shows. It's a soulless release of one of the studio's best and most beloved franchises that was likely rushed out for a cash grab to coincide with Downpour. I haven't played it but I've heard such bad things that, despite loving Silent Hill, I don't know if I'd even want this on my console.

I liked FFXIII.

Will I like El Shaddai?
Here's El Shaddai in a nutshell. You walk through empty but pretty landscapes til you get to a spot. Bad guys appear. You hit one button repeatedly to wear down their armour and then kill them (or you steal their weapon and kill them). If they hit you enough you have to hit a button to clean your weapon from their filth. Continue and repeat this for a number of hours. The game's story makes very little sense. It's sorta even less coherent than Bayonetta. The game looks great but the gameplay is just bland. The visuals are pretty but the bland gameplay just makes it hard to want to proceed. Is it worth $5? Yes. But really it's not all that great of a game.

How's El Shaddai, it looks intriguing.
depends, do you like to take drugs while you game? if so you might enjoy it. i'm pretty sure i only liked playing it when i was really high at 4am deprived of sleep. it really excels in those conditions. others, not so much.

If you close your eyes and squint really hard, I mean super hard and then have someone poke your eyes as you do that...you'll swear you'll be playing Final Fantasy XIII-3 and that's Lightning on the screen. So yes, yes you will. Though there are no tough mom's in this game.

If you like games with two buttons you'll enjoy El Shaddai.
If you like games with two buttons, you'll like One Finger Death Punch. ;-)

I passed on El Shadai when it was only 240 points, so I'll pass on it now. Seems like a decent value still, but there's other games I'd rather spend my time with.

I was under the belief that the combo/combat system was timing based in El Shaddai.  So it's not really about spamming attacks, but pacing your attacks to pull off better ones.  Is that not right?

I think you'll like it both games try to shoe horn-in both leads as the new messiah sent down to save Earth from its final days FFXII was less believable because its a girl lead. El Shaddai is a game about pro christianity its not a very good game. You just mash X a lot and block sometimes repeat until Satan is defeated I assume hes the final boss I stopped playing 30 mins in. I played a better hack n slash game -- Ninja gaiden 3.

Well if it sucks sober I'll get high and play it at 4am. So I'll get it.

Question: Why did Summer of Arcade start at the very end of Summer to the point where at least half of the games are actually being released once Summer is over and school has begun?

I don't care how emotional Brothers may be, it plays like boring ass and it's 3 hours long.  I couldn't finish the demo as the only thing I could do was spit in a well, push open fence doors, and talk gibberish to a bum while showing him a scroll before I had to turn it off and delete it.

In other Brother news: I bought Undercover Brother after hearing Wombat rave about it (on UnOp).  The only thing funny in the entire movie was the scene where he imitates Bruce Lee crushing his foot into a guy creating a crunching sound, then they pan down and show he's crushing a bag of Lay's Potato Chips.  The guy says "aww, I just bought that bag!".

Still playing nothing but One Finger Death Punch.  I finally beat the campaign and unlocked master.  My gamerscore is currently stuck at 69,420.  I keep getting the urge to play an FPS and randomly call people gay.

Human Revolution looks awesome, it's been one of the few games I regret not picking up yet (particularly when it was 800 points -_-). Should I really just wait for the $30 director's cut? Mainly because now I have a lot of free bing points/points from a survey site and kind of just want to bite on it now since it still seems to having raving reviews everywhere.

El Shaddai is beautiful but rather boring. It reminds me a lot of the Cel-Shaded Prince of Persia that I hated but was so beautiful to look at.

That game is in my backlog to lol

I was under the belief that the combo/combat system was timing based in El Shaddai. So it's not really about spamming attacks, but pacing your attacks to pull off better ones. Is that not right?
Yes it sort of uses a hidden combo system where if you pause between certain button presses then it changes and improves your attacks. Perhaps that's something that comes in later in the game (I've only played the first 2 levels, got bored and backlogged it). But I just found if I spammed the X button that it worked just as well. And considering that there's no visual cue for combos or even some sort of combo meter, I just never bothered trying. The combat is annoying and tedious at times because you constantly have to purify your weapon through a long animation which breaks the flow. This is even more of an issue for the Gale (ranged weapon) as it gets defiled super quick. The good thing about the Gale though is that if you hate the combat moments you can bypass most of them by doing an air dash that just gets you to the next section of the level.

The game suffers mostly for its 3D platforming though as it's often really hard to tell where you're going to land. That and some jumps are almost impossible to get to with the double jump. You actually have to learn a technique where you fall off a ledge rather than jump off it as that gives you a 3rd jump.

I do like the way that the health meter is replaced by clothing. So that as pieces of your armour come off it means you're getting closer to death - that actually makes sense rather than just some meter. So there are some good design ideas. But when you die all you have to do to continue is literally button mash (yes they stole the mechanic from Mike Tyson's Punch-Out) to get back into the game.

All in all it's not a horrid game, just tedious and boring. Amazing when a game like Papers, Please excites me to no end but El Shaddai feels like an office job. Your first run through it clocks in at 12 hours and I think you need to beat it multiple times to unlock various difficulty achievements. Basically if you're a gamer who needs 1000/1000 I think this game isn't hard to do that but just long and repetitive. So keep that in mind.

^ This is a perfect explanation of what went wrong. I admit I completely forgot about the lack of fog though, well-put. I personally had no other options when it came to Silent Hill though (no PS3).. so I just kind of sucked it up. I think it helped that I never played the originals.

I didn't receive the 1600 points for purchasing 5 games on demand, nor are those points pending. I'm not in the beta. Is there a way to contact Xbox Rewards directly, or is posting on their support forum and having who-knows-who respond really the only way to resolve this? That seems absurd. Anyone know a phone number or email address to use? Thanks.

When I didn't receive my 240 MSP from a promo, they said I had to post in those forums.  Maybe they've added better contact information since then, but I'd bet not.

For those who are playing the WSOP: Full house pro Beta, do you get the feeling that this is almost exactly like the old game, with less polish and more lag? I know it's still a beta, but all I kept thinking while I was playing it yesterday was: "What's the point"?

Exactly what I thought, lol

Thanks for the RB DLC notice. It's mostly RHCP songs which is one of my favorite bands. I think I own everything I want already, but will have to give it another look.

Like delisted games, will I be able to re-download already purchased tracks or will it be a weird exception where they'll be completely gone? I don't remember how it worked with the other delisted tracks.

If you already own them then you're good. You'll still be able to redownload them in the future. But if you don't buy these before the get pulled, no dice.
