Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Just discovered Amazon has been charging me for a Music Unlimited subscription since January, for a total of $47.94. Got them to reimburse the entire thing, I never subscribed or used it. So maybe check your credit cards?
They did the same thing to me that time that they offered a free gift code for trying out the Music Unlimited service. I don't know if I forgot to cancel in time or not, but I was charged for a month. I got them to cancel it and refund the charge, but I will never do anything like that again for a $10 Amazon code.

That’s really surprising. Thought they were already low on stock.
It likely has a lot to do with the reported screen uniformity issues combined with increased competition from this year's Vizio P series which is getting stellar reviews and only about $150 more for the 55", $100 for the 65".

Just a heads up if anyone is still thinking about picking up this years TLC TVs. They should be on sale tomorrow only 10% off at Amazon and BestBuy as well as other retailers.

Re: these TCLs - is the 4 series worth it? I’m definitely a cheap ass, and I don’t really *need* a new TV, and also I don’t have an Xbone X yet, so totally using the 4K outside built-in streaming won’t be much of an issue, but the $340+ price seems damn good. Any thoughts?

With tax, the 5 series (43") comes out to $330, which still seems like a pretty damn good deal, but knowing the 4 series is almost 1/3 cheaper... $265 with tax for the 43".

I recall awp said the extra oomph with Dolby Vision / HDR10 was worth it. Convince me and ziggs?

If I got the 43", it would go in my bedroom. I may splurge on a bigger, nicer one for my house later in the year, once my housemate and I rearrange some things.

Also, I understand the One S will upscale on 4k TVs, I'll be mostly doing 1080p content (and still play my 360 a lot), will that look hideous on a 4k display? If they made 1080p HDR displays, I'd probably go that route instead. Sony is supposed to put one out this year, but I'm sure it'd be expensive since it'll be brand new and no one else is doing 1080p HDR right now.

Dontnod continues to demonstrate their ability to tell stories and create moving narratives. Another outstanding effort with Captain Spirit. Maybe these types of games aren't everyone's cup of tea ... but for those looking for this type of experience, Dontnod delivers again.

I have last year’s P607, which is more comparable to the new 6 series (though some things are supposed to be even better with those). But the 6-series and my model only come in 55” and now 65”. Those models are where you have the jump in quality with the brightness and local dimming for HDR and Dolby Vision.

I can’t really speak to the smaller 43” models. I’m sure they are good and am also thinking of one for my bedroom. But the ones people rave about are the P6 and 6-series 55” models.

Might be bigger and more money than you want to spend but they are awesome TVs and still way cheaper than the competition for that size.

Speaking of TCL, I know I mentioned it before but anyone have a remote code that works? I found T4398 online that people said worked but it doesn't turn my TV on and off with the xbox like i have it programmed to.

I'm thinking I'm going to go cheap on a 43", because it'll still be a significant upgrade for the 25" monitor I'm using, and when I get something for a living room space, I'll splurge.

Also: good deal for everything if you haven't dived in yet. Pass includes FC3 port.

1080p will look like what you're used to already, no worse. At this price, you won't miss HDR. Save up and go big with HDR for your living room TV later :D

I just picked up the ACA NeoGeo Metal Slug 1 and 2 releases. I have 3 360 through BC. Does the recent ACA release of MS3 have any advantages/disadvantages over the 360 version?

I think the 360 version had a horrible smoothing filter that you couldn't disable.

Edit: The 360 version has online multiplayer (not sure if it still works).  I think the ACA version is local mp only.

I only have the 360 release but I think the main trade off is the online co-op if you have someone to play with the 360 version, while the One version should have 1000 gamerscore. Most of the achievements are tough as nails on 360 anyways.

I think the ACA NeoGeo games have the standard emulation filter and aspect ratio options, while the 360 version only has original and widescreen resolution options if I'm remembering correctly.

From what I've heard, the only version to avoid is the Anthology PS2 to PS4 release, which has added input lag.

Best Buy has Destiny 2 for $6 listed under My Rewards, shipping should be free. Have to activate the deal before applying it in the cart.

For $6, I'll play the campaign and likely enjoy it just fine.

Is it a specific offer for you? GCU something maybe? I'm not seeing it.

Whoop, I'm blind, found it.

I'd expect vanilla Destiny 2 to start getting a ton of fire sales soon here. It's already been hitting $10 pretty regularly and we're getting closer to the big expansion that will bring a new full priced or higher physical version that comes with everything.

Second Edit:
It added a Coldheart blueprint print to my cart for free too. I think these are mounted on plastic or canvas or something. They look pretty good.

Got one when the game dropped to $10. Seems more like laminated particleboard. Still a nice bonus
Is Destiny 2 worth checking out even though I never played the first one? At $6 I'm thinking about picking it up.

Edit: I'll probably just go ahead and get it. I feel like I'll ending up kicking myself if I pass.

I let a friend borrow my Xbox One X to try it out, so I've been playing some non-bc 360 games. Just finished Dust: an Elysian tale. It was a GWG a long time ago, but if you never picked it up it's worth a few bucks at least. It was enjoyable with around 10 hours of game play. Kinda surprised it's not BC though as it was almost completely developed by a single guy.

it got a ps4 port so the lack of BC is even stranger

You're actually more likely to enjoy it if you didn't play the first one. A lot of the problems the game has are greatly amplified if you were familiar with the much better systems in the first game, especially if you were playing it later on after Taken King had released and eventually made the game what it should have been.

Even as dissatisfied as I was with D2 I'd still say the core is worth $6. It just couldn't keep me interested for hundreds if not thousands of hours like the first. What I can't recommend is the DLCs, I never played them but from everything I've seen they are not worth it, and they're required if you want to get the upcoming $40 expansion that may theoretically make the game decent for the hardcore fans of the first.

Finished SOMA. Yes, is basically sci-fi Outlast, but a good sci-fi Outlast.

The story mirrors a certain plot point of the Westworld second season but since this game came out a year before Westworld, then is technically the other way around.

One thing though, I believe the game had one or two levels too many. It dragged towards the end but for the $10 I paid for it, give it a go once it goes on sale. Easy 1000 too (there's a "missable" achievement, but not really, unless you have no patience to wait 30-45 seconds).

EDIT: Soma's not $10 currently, that's why I paid for it when it went on sale a while back.

Game was great! I wish that dude would make a second one

I played a couple hours of it when it first went GWG. Enjoyed it but got stuck on something. Wouldn't mind going back and giving it another try.

The chips ahoy sea of thieves promo gives 5 days of live and 5 days of gamepass. It seems to redeem weird: first code gives 5 of each, second 5 of gamepass, third 5 of live, fourth 5 of each. It caps at 30 days each. Think I may finally try gamepass if I can get 6 weeks for free. I can ignore the backlog for a bit and try out the handful of games I'm interested in.

Thanks for the detailed info on D2, it'll be a fresh experience since I never played the first release. I'm sure I'll get $6 worth of fun out of it.

Second Edit:

It added a Coldheart blueprint print to my cart for free too. I think these are mounted on plastic or canvas or something. They look pretty good.
It's like a hard cardboard print. Be careful because the corners can dent easily, but it is nice to look at.

  1. The first expansion, Curse of Osiris, is generally considered a failure. It adds content but some of that content is questionable or lazy.
  2. The second expansion, Warmind, while certainly not perfect, is MUCH better than CoO. It has more endgame content and more grind opportunities. The story is a little weird though, like some things were left out that shouldn't have been left out. However, a not insignificant portion of the praise for D2 is the QoL changes they made at the same time Warmind released, and any of these can be enjoyed without the expansions. You do not need CoO to be able to play this expansion.
  3. The third expansion, The Forsaken, looks to be a darker tone - to the point that it has hilariously united the majority of the Reddit community emotionally. Also, there are a TON of QoL changes coming when the expansion drops in September. It will require both prior expansions to play, plus there is an optional pass to pre-order that will let you play content as it is released over the next year or so.
Also:

  • Next week there will be another update to the game to make available more QoL changes.
  • Yesterday on Bungie Day they announced Year 1 Triumphs where everyone that has completed certain things in the game will have access to free content.
  • There have been special events back-to-back all Season, with a few more scheduled for next few weeks. This is both good and bad because a lot of people are complaining about "Grind Fatigue."
  • A several week long (I think?) even called the Solstice of Heroes is scheduled to kick off at the end of the month and I believe last through the rest of the Season (through the release of The Forsaken), which will start a new Year/Season.
While the game did start out on very shaky ground, Bungie has spent lots of time making nice with the community and the game is constantly getting better.

6 dollars is what i would say vanilla destiny 2 is worth, with GCU its even better. best bet is waiting for them to release the complete edition, l got taken king edition for very cheap pretty soon after it came out

The mechanics in D1 were perfect to me, the character classes felt different, there was real variety between weapons and especially the rare ones, and movement felt great. If Bungie knows how to do anything, it's to make a mechanically satisfying shooter, so I'm actually looking forward a lot to revisiting the game. Would consider a complete edition but I doubt I'll be buying any expansions.

Darksiders I-III collection for $40. Includes the Blades and Whip Edition of Darksiders 3. It worked for me so I would get it while I can. Credit to dealwars over at Slickdeals.

When I bought it, I looked at the Bladea and Whip edition and it does say that I aready own it (on the DS3 preorder page) so it isn't YMMV.

I didn't want to make a new thread, so I hope this reaches a good amount of people😎

Same thoughts here. In for Destiny 2 at this price. I played the solo campaign of D1 for 20 hours until then sold it. Will do the same for this one but with GCU and a reward cert it was free. Looking forward to seeing it in 4K with HDR on my X1X and sony x900e.

That’s definitely a mistake. The bundle is only supposed to include Darksiders and Darksiders II. I believe it’s supposed to be a bonus with the Blades and Whips edition.

I already own D1 and D2 so I’d be scared to get it and be stuck with $40 worth of nothing. Even if you get D3 B&W, I wonder if they’d pull the license later.

B&W edition talks about including D1 & D2, so it sounds like someone mixed up the bundles. What's also weird is that if I goto the B&W page, it says I already have it pre-ordered which... no.

Take a screenshot of the "included in this bundle" so if they pull the license for d3, you can ask for a refund.

Quite tempted to pull the trigger on the bundle, even tho I have the first games on Game pass and never played them. Damn backlog be like:

Ah fuck it. I got the Darksiders bundle and took screenshots to prove what I got. As someone on SD noted, they had a similar error with the RE bundle last year (which I also got :) ) and never pulled the licenses. Fingers crossed!

Still ain't even play the first two Darksiders on my 360 and I've skipped out on the HD'er remakes for cheap on Humble Bundle and the current PSN sale. I Can wait for Darksiders III to go stupid cheap or GWG

I had preordered DS3 through Best Buy to lock in my GCU discount. But this is even cheaper and digital. Going to keep the BB preorder for now just in case MS nerfs this.

And I'm sure their reps will get a good chuckle out of your screenshot as "proof" of deserving an obvious error. :)

This one is just too risky for my blood, I've already got the first two (actually have both physical), so overpaying for the digital versions again if they yank 3 from it would be very bad.

So how is everyone organizing their groups in the latest update I’m struggling with the 160 games I have had installed, open to suggestions

Anyone know how to do the quick start up on games or is that for alpha/beta members? I only want to do quick start for WW II.
I *think* that feature is available to all users, but it isn't necessarily available on all games. It's a small subset of games at this point.

Not sure what the big risk is, and I didn't get the sense anyone was thinking that taking the screenshot means they are entitled to the game. I'd for sure what a refund though.

I've been keeping up with the updates for the most part. They're just coming at a snail's pace and some ridiculous stuff is taking way too long for seemingly no reason, little stuff like the ability to mass delete shaders.

A lot of my big complaints are being addressed with Forsaken, but I don't know if it's going to be enough to get me back in. The weapon slot changes, return of random rolls, supposed fix of the terrible mod system are what are sounding good to me, along with the idea of the Dreaming City (?). I've never cared about the Triumph system as it just felt like a lazy way to drive grinding, in the past just giving a few cosmetic rewards out for a TON of effort.

The real thing that grinded my gears is that the game came out in such a bad state, showing they learn nothing from D1, which also launched poorly and found a year to really find it's footing.
