Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

DS2 is fantastic. DS1 - > DS2 is Alien -> Aliens. Very different, but both excellent in their own ways.

And maybe DS3 -> Alien 3 in the sense that... some good ideas, not terrible, but not really want fans of the first two wanted in a third entry.
As someone who has only played about half of DS3 for my exposure to the series, this was an awesome explanation. I also bounced it off my friend, with whom I have been co-op-ing DS3, and he agreed that it makes lots of sense (he’s a huge fan of the series) - not that the opinions of strangers on the internet or their friends should affect your night, but just wanted to let you know anyway.

Edit: PS - I’m one of the few who actually enjoys Alien3. As you said, definitely not the same as the first two, but I still enjoy the heck out of it.

I've been able to start things up in Michigan, had to try a few times on Evil Within 2.

Pro Evo Soccer 2019 is showing up free, might just be a free week with Gold or some other thing with Game Pass and such

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/pro-evolution-soccer-2019/c4vj59k5z2pn?activetab=pivot:eek:verviewtab
So this page says play with gold sub but, if you scroll down to the "included in" section, there is a version that shows free. I clicked over and clicked "get" on the store page for it and now the original link went from play with gold sub to you own this. Link to that below:

i don't think so, it was the same game play in a less creepy environment

i also prefer Issac not speaking
Not even close to the same gameplay. Gameplay in DS1 is as different from DS2 as DS2 is from DS3. Weapons were added that changed combat and kinetic/stasis underwent big changes. Even the set pieces in DS2 were markedly different including a few 'defense type' fights where you knew you'd have to defend an area and could prepare (I found those particularly fun.)

What are the chances we get an announcement tomorrow on N7 day that the 3 original Mass Effects are now 4K on X1X?

Andromeda has apparently leaked but maybe that's the tip of the ice berg.  One can dream......

That's some interesting speculation about ME1-3 getting the X1X enhanced treatment.  If you guys are correct I'll be a very happy camper tomorrow.

If that comes to pass I'm going to have to go buy an Xbox 360 to get the series while it on sale with MS credit. I know I could get the trilogy on disc for probably less than what it's on sale for now. That's just how much I hate having to put discs into systems.

Let me be clear though, I respect everyone who like discs and builds their collections that way.

If that happens at least no one will have to read my complaints about buying 360 games anymore. Unless they announce the week after that they finally solved that problem.

Kinda reminds me of Mass Effect 1 to Mass Effect 2. Lots of "changes," but it was a different experience. I chalk it up to EA. They're the publisher in each of the ME and DS series. And for the record, each game in those series(Mass Effect and Dead Space), the originals were vastly superior to any of the sequels imo.

ME Andromeda going X Enhanced tomorrow for N7 day would be pretty cool. I played about 3 hours in last year, but haven't gone back since. Would def start over again if it happened. But if ME 1-3 went X Enhanced, I'd keel over in happiness. Early Xmas present indeed

Man, I’d love to see that classic ME1 texture pop-in in glorious 4K!

Been having a blast with Grip. Starts out kind of cool but stick with it and it gets really insane starting with the tier 2 races. Combat is fun and some of the courses are dizzying. Great GamePass add!

I don't know if anyone else uses it but I'm not a fan of the gutting of ubisoft club app. I liked being able to go in and look at all the games I had, what they had coming up and what games of theirs I didn't own. Now it only shows the last ubisoft game that you played and the tasks/rewards for that specific game.

well i must have played it wrong

i played the games back to back and i just remember using the plasma cutter, stomp the necromorph, repeat

DS3 gets a lot of crap (righfully owed) but the co-op sections were pretty good considering both players got to see different things.

I too bought it and will likely never play it. I have the code that came with my XBox One X that I haven't redeemed as well.

PES 2019 also seems to be free now too. Not going to bother with that as I will NEVER play it and have ZERO interest in it. Not sure why I grabbed PUBG either though. lol

Do you have Gold? I had an install now on XBox One button. I am not home so can not verify it actually is downloading and would be playable. Nor do I really care. I will probably delete it when I get home (if it downloaded at all) anyway.

Wonder what is going on here.

Some people are saying the free PES and PUBG are free-to-play weekends (which could be true as these typically activate way before the weekend starts), while others are saying that it seems like they own it outright now.  If the latter, I wonder if it's related to X018.  Maybe these games are free to claim in celebration of X018, but haven't been officially announced yet since X018 is still a few days away?  Just speculating.

They did tease that a big PUBG announcement will be at XO18. Some are speculating that the game will go F2P, but I don't really see that happening before it launches on PS4. I think it isn't going to do super well releasing this late in the game, but that would still be a LOT of purchases they'd miss out on by going free now. I also don't see why it would be free first on Xbox with nothing happening on the clearly favored PC version.

I can't seem to get to the Xbox Live Store on PC right now, nor in browser.  I finally got enough points for the $25 gift card, and I was trying to buy Red Dead 2 but I keep getting a gateway timeout when I try to buy it.  Anyone else experiencing this?

Stayed up too late finishing Dead Rising 3 and checking election results. DR3s ending was a little anti-climactic but it was still plenty fun, I just wish some of the achievements weren't so tedious. I like the game and had fun chasing a few achievements, but driving around in circles for hours running over zombies for 100k+ is just dumb.

The Inside Xbox at X018 Mixpot will be more Sea of Thieves and Forza Horizon 4 in game content. Disappointing but expected at this point. It's been like that for a bit now, save for Outer Wilds at E3.

https://majornelson.com/2018/11/07/celebrate-x018-with-inside-xbox-at-fanfest-mexico-city-on-november-10/

Although if PUBG and PES 2019 are free to keep that kinda way makes up for the mixpot being thin.
Bad news for people wanting free games, great news for people who want a pair of pants in a car racing game!

Pretty sure it's Free play weekend for PUBG and PES. Both of them have the 'You can play this now with Gold or buy it to own forever message'.
Anyone notice that their weekend trials aren't always limited to the weekend? I've done a few of them (Overwatch and Conan, most recently) and it seems like it grants a 10 hour trial or so which lasts beyond the dates specified. I was able to play Conan 24 hours after the trial was supposed to end, and Overwatch still shows up in my ready to install list even though I don't own it (I didn't max my time on it).

Am I missing something, or is that how this works?

Real talk, every Dead Rising game does this. I'll play through the games several times and enjoy myself but I never 100% them because of tedious grinding kills. Or in the case of Dead Rising 1, I don't have the desire or patience to babysit the game for 14 straight hours.

The times and dates for the free weekends bleed over on both ends for most things. (I'm already able to hop into PUBG for example) As for the ready to install list, things like betas, demos and trails stay on there forever. I still have project spark, fable legends, and many other limited time things that are still showing up there. Gamepass games seem not to, which is nice. I just hide all the stuff I don't own.

I did the Zombie Genocide Master achievement last when 1000/1000ing Dead Rising 2 on the 360. I've got to say it was one of the most mind numbing grinds I've ever done. You really can't do anything else but beeline around the map getting the few items you need then just drive the same path around the courtyard for 6 hours. At least with 7 day survivor in DR1 you aren't so rigidly locked into specific actions.

I never cared to do so in DR3, but I imagine whatever number you need to hit isn't too bad with the extremely long time you have and how powerful the combo vehicles are.

Looks like it was only the Andromeda patch for today, they don't even mention the book that just released. If their store wasn't shut down I would almost say the first half of this video was an ad for it. It's also kind of funny the first thing they mention is community when they removed their forums quite a while ago now. The patch itself sounds like it's only the X enhancement adding HDR and higher resolution, no further bug fixes or tweaks.

Still better than last year, which apparently had two characters added to the multiplayer amid all the doom and gloom of the franchise basically dying still fresh.

So is PES not for keep? When I saw it on the website yesterday, it didn’t mention anything about limited time.

The tweet is confusing.

O

It's not free. It just came out 2 months ago. What company would give away a $60 product to millions of customers?
If it was FIFA I'd say they are banking on Microtransactions....but for PES, I don't think their microtransactions are anywhere near the Ultimate Team stuff in FIFA but who knows? No idea why they'd give it away for free.

So it's kind of hard to dig through but the RPGcodex forums have been crunching some numbers that Fig put out a couple days ago regarding Obsidian's newest game, Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. Basically they had to disclose numbers due to the investor gimmick the site uses, and people were able to extrapolate that into some rough sales numbers. It seems to have sold somewhere between 100,000 and 150,000 to people after launch on Steam, on top of the people who backed it. This number is significantly lower than the first game in a comparable time, which is not generally how video games sale numbers go.

It doesn't really mean anything by itself, but it does seems like it could push the owners closer to a deal with Microsoft.

I think they got the cell tower working behind my house. Lost cell service for a few minutes had to turn the hotspot off and on again. When it came back on my speed is now hitting 40mbps/23mbps before I was lucky getting 2mbps/.5mbps. Hopeful the speed keeps getting better.

I Don't know why, but playing Watch Dogs 2 and when I get involved in a police car chase the first song to come to my head as getaway music is Dolly Parton's "9 to 5" and I just start laughing to myself. Also disrupting someone from calling the cops on you then in turn calling the cops on that person and watch them get arrested is a feature I wish more games had.
