Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Question:

What's the most reliable way to setup an email price drop alert for an Xbox One bundle?

I want to buy The Jackbox Party Quadpack as soon as it drops below $74.99.

Apparently StoreParser's email alert system isn't reliable from what I've read.  CAG's & TA's alerts only works for individual games & items, not bundles.

What say ye?

Recent play thoughts:

Revisited ReCore this morning for some achievements because without them, there's nothing left to do in the game. I have all but 3 and they are so tedious, I probably won't bother, but then again, I may pick it up on another Saturday morning when I need to turn my brain off after a long week.

Valley is way cooler than I thought it would be. It has an interesting narrative to give you reasons to run around, it has a good balance of linear levels which are still open for lots of exploration, and it doesn't overstay its welcome. Easily worth the $4 I paid, would recommend next time its on sale.

Mega Man 9 is as good as I remember, but playing as Proto Man may result in me breaking a controller in half.

Give it another 5 years, it's still a little early for 90's nostalgia. I also think 8/16bit gfx age better than early 3d.

I bought a 360 because of Turok, but I thought it was co-op and I think I got bored around the second or third level. Whereas 1&2 I beat on n64, and I have zero desire to beat my head against that wall of terrible fps platforming again.
For what it's worth, the HD port of Turok 2 actually has a ledge grab, much like Doom 2016, to make the platforming more forgiving.

Turok was good for the neck splattter arrow shot, with it shooting out the side, the fog was laughable even then. On system release err 2 months later it was no Moral Kombat Trilogy or Shadow of the Empire, don't know if  annything else decent came out right before the holiday deadline that year

Only thing I remember about Turok 2 was the Cerebral Bore. The fact I even remember the name of that weapon proves that game definitely did something right at least at that time if I remember the name of their original weapon.

While Turok 1 I remember fog, bad platforming, teleporting dinosaurs and it came with a free comic book where Turok got out of the situation with the main boss by telling a baseball joke.

Wow, almost missed the 50% deal for game pass. It hasn't shown for me till this morning of the last day of the sale. Going to load up for a yr worth.

I replaced the thumb sticks in both of my 360 controllers over the last couple days. For $5 for parts and elbow grease for installation, it makes a world of difference. They feel like new controllers again. But there’s a down side. Both controllers had a surprising amount of dust and dirt inside. I’m guessing it’s due to the gaps between the triggers and the controller shell. And the black controller, for whatever reason, was much more difficult to clean.

I haven't played Turok 1  in forever, but Turok 2 is legit a fantastic game. The level design alone always makes it a treat to play.

Still, $20 each with the bare minimum in graphical (and probably in gameplay outside of a stable framerate)improvements is a terrible deal.

Should have been a double pack for $20.

I cannot imagine the original game has aged well at all in any respect but I watched a video review for Turok 2's PC port and it has aged much better. I won't be paying $20 for them but I might revisit the second one if it goes on Game Pass eventually.

EDIT: Here's the review of the PC port I mentioned-

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnDpmmf8sPE
That video CLEARLY shows that it's a remaster and not a port...

Although I was never a fan of the Turok games, I find it interesting that nobody seems to be fawning over this upcoming release when they are no worse than something like Battletoads. Maybe the recent glut of retro releases has finally killed the general nostalgia for old games that no longer hold up.
I wouldn't fawn over either since I have no nostalgia for them.

Agreed. Remasters usually just uprez and clean a game up.

Shadow of the Colossus this is a remake. This is not.
Yep.

Dead Rising on X1 = Port

Bioshock = Remaster

Gears 1 Ultimate = Remake

If we really wanna split hairs, when I said 'PC port' I was referring to the PC port of the T2 remaster to distinguish it from the X1 release.

I still play Turok games here and there on my N64 and the first one is still a lot of fun to me, obviously not for anyone else here lmao but as long I as like it that's enough for me lol

Walmart has a controller + 3 months Xbox live for 43.99, don’t buy it they’re cancelling the 3 month cards and just giving $5 back.

Don’t see how they’re even allowed to do that, I would’ve bought a different color controller from somewhere else if I knew they were gonna pull this shit.

Finally saw Black Panther today. Great movie. Also didn’t realize Chadwick Boseman is from Anderson, SC about 30 miles from me (and where I was living when my oldest son was born).

Just read a story that he bought 400 tickets for underprivileged kids in the Upstate to watch the movie. Pretty cool.

Turn on my One and was on the home page. Saying don't miss out last day 50% off game pass.
Been turning mine off/on for about half an hour now and nothing.
Even turned off via settings and unplugged.
No such luck for me.
Went into the store for it too and do not see it there either.

You ever go see Radio at a football game? Always thought it would be cool to do so, but never had a Friday night off.

I went to a few games at Hanna covering them as a freelancer for the Greenville News but didn’t even know who Radio was at the time.

Only lived in Anderson for a few years before moving to Atlanta then back to Greenville (and I’m originally from Philly).

I guess Boseman went to Hanna a year before we lived there. He graduated in ‘95.

I got restless on call today and ended up beating all of the challenges for MM9 in the MMLC2. They're very tough but mostly fair, minus beating all of the 8 main bosses with just the mega buster.

Finally tried Clash of Monsters. Worth it just to laugh at invisible man vs. invisible man.

Was gifted Dynasty Warriors 9. Downloading now.

Edit: Dynasty Warriors 9 says unavailable until March 12. Google is saying the release date was Feb 13.

Got a PM from Xbox about January Game Pass quest rewards, which was a $5 code. Had to redeem it in a browser since the redeem link for the store wasn't working.

I loved those games back then, but they are painful to look at now. Could never beat the first one without the infinite ammo/all weapons code. The platforming in that game sucked :)

Also saw Black Panther tonight with the wife. I think I have a crying problem. Cried at least 3 times during the movie.

edit: dang... gotta watch a walkthrough of Turok 1 and 2 for the nostalgia on youtube now...

Been playing through Dragon Ball xenoverse and finding it good. Wish you had option to retry in the parallel quests, instead of having to wait for loading screens and walking back to do quest again. Weird how you can retry only in the main quests but nowhere else. A run or fly option would have been good too going around the map. Hope xenoverse 2 fixed these problems.

Apparently it's been so long I don't recall any platforming or fog in Turok. Honestly the only clear memory I have is where to get the pistol at the very beginning of the game. The rest is a blank. I loved that game, first game I bought for my n64 for something like $82 and change, tax free. Man, fuck Nintendo and their pricing policies in that era. By the way, my copy did NOT come with a comic! I am very sad now.

My mom was so pissed at my dad when she saw it was M rated. Hehe.

Found my Turok 2 for N64. It probably is the only N64 game in my collection I never played, box still in great condition and bumpy cover art that doesn't seem to be done much these days. Those were the days when I played everything I owned.

That Turok 2 remaster looks great. I really enjoyed the game back in the day even with the frame rate issues and the awkward N64 controls.  The game had a pretty cool atmosphere about it. It was one of the few games that took advantage of the N64 memory expansion pack.

Never had a 64 growing up as me and my older brother opted to get the ps1 instead anyways all I remember from Turok from when elementary friends came over with their 64 was the armored car fight .Also had them gamepro magazines which I subscribed to and had some cheats to turok.Yup that was back in 96 I believe.

Since we're sharing Turok stories:

Turok will always have a special place in my heart.  When I was a kid, my older brother got an N64 and Goldeneye.  It was the most incredible thing I'd ever seen, but he wouldn't let me or my little brother ever play.  It was his and that was that.

We got so upset/jealous that my mom went out and bought a N64 JUST for my little brother and I.  We were not a rich family, so this was a HUUUUGE deal.  She didn't want to buy Goldeneye since "it'd be dumb to buy that game when we already have a copy of it."  So the game my mom bought with my n64 was Turok:  Dinousaur Hunter.  Of course, my brother still didn't let me play Goldeneye, and he had no interest in Turok.  I think very few would argue that Turok is on any level near Goldeneye, but man did I try to convince myself that they were.

I did enjoy it, but I dont think I ever played it without cheats.  I think I turned on the invincibility code on day 1, and never even attempted to play with it off.

When Turok 2 was revealed in Nintendo Power, it was one of my most anticipated games ever.  The graphics looked so incredible.  I really didn't think they would ever get any better than that.  I got it for Xmas soon after its release, and thought it was absolutely amazing.  I went on to buy Turok 3 and Rage Wars.  Turok 3 was not nearly as mind-blowing as Turok 2, but Rage Wars was very neat.  There is a bug in Rage Wars that renders the game unbeatable in the co-op campaign.  Seriously, look it up.  The only solution was to mail back your cartridge and have the devs fix it.  There was no such thing as patching back then.  The game just shipped broken, and too damn bad.

Fun fact:  Even though my brother never let me play Goldeneye, somehow word got around that I was insanely good at video games.  So neighborhood kids used to lend me their copies so that I could unlock the Invincibility cheat for them.  I'd unlock the cheat for them, and give it back a few days later, and the next kid in line would lend me their game to do the same.  During this time, I played enough Goldeneye that I didn't feel like I ever needed to purchase my own copy.

Having said all this, 20 dollars each is ridiculously high for Turok and Turok 2, in my opinion.  I will definitely be waiting for a sale.

I ain't got no switch. Should be on the One. Best Online play currently in gaming in my opinion. Should port it to all systems and do like Namco did with Soul Calibur and add system specific characters. Be gangbusters!

The Turok on 360 was very disappointing, but I'll always remember the rocket Launcher explosions. They were great.

The original Turok games were too scary.

Oh they are way too difficult lmao, but I loved the worlds and the weapons, Turok Rage Wars is probably my most played game out of everything I own on N64 :p But yeah the platforming wasn't exactly easy/well made haha.

Lol I was in like the top 100 on the online leaderboard on that one me and a friend loved it and played so much with the random raptors running around the maps and the bow/sticky gun were so much fun

By the time I got around to playing 360 Turok in 2011, there was only 1 person online and he kept hounding me to boost achievements.

Also that rendition of Turok was a dark, edgy adult version of Sokka from Avatar.

I enjoyed the game, but was disappointed because an article previously in either Game Informer or Xbox Magazine mentioned a cool map feature that I don't think was in the game when released.

Roughly from what I remember, the article mentioned how one map for CTF has holding areas for dinosaurs on each team's side that could be opened. Do you open it as a defense or will the other team use it to cause chaos in your own base? Looking back now, the idea doesn't sound that great, but at the time my little mind was blown.

Lmao sounds pretty accurate to any old game that had online achievements after the first few months :p

I think I remember reading about that as well, I was also excited that one of the dlcs I believed added a T Rex into a multiplayer map, was pretty insane lol
