Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Gears stream tonight at 6pm Eastern for the Pink Phantom Lancer. Final one to be made available, with the Torque Bow and Boomshot availability window ending tomorrow morning (complete 2 Escalation matches).

Today's Year of the Dog skin is the Retro Lancer. Gnasher will be tomorrow as the final skin in the set.

I survived the week without needing to use a bonus, finished 281 above the cutoff. Stayed up way too late playing last night. Started Shadow Warrior to knock out 2 achievements for the Xbox Quest. Since it was getting close to midnight and I hadn't unlocked an achievement for the day, I switched to Double Dragon Neon for the 1 pointer for starting (62 day streak), and played a bit more of that. Then back to Shadow Warrior for 2 pops. Then started Gone Home. Got everything except the all journals speed run and the developer commentary run. Took a number of tries to get the 1 minute speed run, but only around a dozen vs. some others in the TA comments. Went to sleep around 5:30am around 370 below the cutoff but didn't force a scan. Alarm went off at 9:30, finally started moving (aside from shutting off the alarm) at 9:55 to check where I stood, and was still up by nearly 300, so I felt safe.

New bonus for earning 3k GS will be tough, particularly since I knocked out Refunct and Edith Finch in prior weeks.
When I left for work I still was 300 something above, came back from work and was almost below the safe one and no time to get more achievements in soo I had to use one sadly, would have been great to make it by just 1 point above haha...

As fpr this weeks bonus...I guess the cutoff will be much higher this week since I feel even if some won't reach 3000 GS many trying to go for it so the cutoff might be higher as well.....I still have some Games (telltale for example) to get there, on the other hand I don't want to use most of my easy completions yet...

Any opinions on sub $500 4k TV's for gaming? I'm only using a X1S and don't plan on upgrading to an X any time soon.

Just want a decent value. Can't convince myself to spend 1k plus on a Tv. Looking at TCL55S405. They also have a TCL 49" that has HDR...just not even sure if my eyes will pick up the difference. I sit maybe 6 feet from the tv, if that changes anything.

What happened to the official "here are the deals with gold" thread that spontaneously incarnated on Tuesday? That guy even changed the font. whaaaaat

Doesn't sea of theives come out this week?

Did we ever make a cag clan? I'd be down to play but I don't have a mic know that I sold my Kinect Xbox. I guess it would be pretty tough to play without a mic though

I have a few codes for the Game Pass, and I still have the free month offer in my messages on XBox. My question is does the order I use them in matter?

it's actually not too bad without a mic because there's quick chat, and the options change depending on what item you're holding so you can say pretty much anything....even down to "last banana!"

Spend another $100 and get the TCL 55" P605, can't preach this enough...

Tuesday was amazing, so I am predicting no BC games today. ... Microsoft can only do so much in one week.
Nooooooo.....surprise announcement of Kingdoms of Alamur incoming!

** please ***

Edit:

And fail...

It’s time to kick Rhode Island out of the Union. If they can’t give us our right as Americans to play Kingdoms of Alamur on our Xbox Ones, then they do not deserve to be a part of this country.

Take up arms if we must. It’s time. :)

And the convoy of amazing special edition controllers continues. I just wish we could get more special edition consoles!

https://twitter.com/majornelson/status/969257427928604678

Larry tweets at noon and it's about military color custom controllers. This isn't the announcement we wanted, Larry!
I assume we're looking for a tweet about KoA:R going BC?

I'm not sure what kicked up all this dust about that game but I absolutely believe it would be the last game to go BC. If it ever goes. Which it won't.

Which is not what I want, I lerv that game.

There's supposedly a bug right now that displays your real name under your gametag even if you had it disabled previously. To check if it's off, on Xbox.com, click on your profile icon in the top right corner > Xbox Settings > Privacy and Online safety. The URL is https://account.xbox.com/settings

I asked about dragons age 2 going bc, and somebody mentioned KoA:R, which I had not heard of previously. That was the butterfly that flapped it's wings in Africa. I think ms put it on sale just to fuel the discussion in the thread.

It started because MS has been really smart at coordinating sales with BC announcements since the New Year. You're right, though, Amular is unlikely.

Another month of positive progress on the backlog. Started 9 games, completed 8, only got 2 new games
WHERE DO YOU GET OFF SAYING SUCH CRAZY THINGS ON THIS SITE, SIR??

I Bought like 20 or so games this year so far for the backlog monster and MAYBE beaten three. Now that deserves recognition and praise! *awaits praise*

You want crazy? How's this for crazy? One of the games I started was Destiny on the :360: and I have to say I am really liking the story so far.

While I agree, the S series is $370 at Best Buy and $350 IN STORE CLEARANCE at Walmart while the P is $600 at Walmart and $650 at Amazon (better remote) when Amazon has it in stock and a 3rd party isn't selling it for $800. price difference aside pay more for the P. Or wait on next year's models that were a big hit at CES. I'm doing the latter.

For anyone considering the 5 movies for $25 promotion, I purchased my 5 movies for $4.99 each yesterday around 3 pm PST and received my $25 giftcard code via email around 10 am PST this morning.  It wasn't a great selection of movies but you end of getting 5 free movies and you end up making 5 cents on the deal.  Not bad.

I can do better than this. I purchased mine last year when they had a similar deal of $5 and get $5 back. I bought about 8 last year and got about $40 back. I noticed many of the same movies were available this year in this similar deal so I ignored it. I just got an email code from Microsoft for $25 and was able to redeem it. I assume this is some huge oversight glitch in their process. I'm tempted to buy a couple more movies to see if I can get another $25.

Your $25 is prob from playing free to play games.

With the $25 movie thing, I’ve read some rumors that Microsoft’s Movies and TV section may go under just like Groove. But that could be a very good thing. They would most likely fold into another streaming service like Vudu or FandangoNow.

That, in turn, would finally make MS movies in the Movies Anywhere program. I wonder if that’s why they have not made any moves to get in MA, thinking they may not be around much longer to bother with it.

It has always surprised me that there's even room in the market for MS to have a movie/tv marketplace, especially when it was mostly limited to the 360. Windows is so widely used that expanding it into an OS feature with an app store kind of makes sense now. But still... I'm guessing the people who buy a lot of content on there or spend $20 on a movie which is locked into their service are few and far between.

A buddy of mine has spent a ton of money for music videos he bought through his :360:. Somehow he no longer has access to those though on his :xb1:.

There are still a surprising number of players in the field and given that services like iTunes, Vudu, etc. are so huge, my only conclusion is that there must be a large profit margin (and/or easy money) in it so it's worth even a relatively small customer base. Otherwise, it seems like Microsoft should know they have little hope of winning the war (unless they do something drastic).
