Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Lots of updates for BC games.  From what I have installed:

Alan Wake's American Nightmare

Oblivion

The Witcher II:  Assassin of Kings

Bejeweled 2

Doom

Doom II

Feeding Frenzy

Feeding Frenzy 2

Heavy Weapon

Probably others.

Not saying it's indicative of the state of Xbox at all, I really liked the adaptive controller segment and the talk with No Man's Sky dude and the State of Decay 2 devs, but wow what's really going on over at Microsoft, they are making a 4 player Halo Arcade on the rails shooter? Stuff is really going to be ugly when Spiderman hits PS4.
I have only seen one gameplay video of Spiderman so this might have changed, but it looked filled with quick time events which sucks IMO.

Installed the Xbox May update today. What happened to being able to put games into groups? I was looking forward to that.
They're still working out some kinks, so it wasn't rolled out very far (just a fraction of Alpha Insiders have it now).

Next question, does Fallout GOTY go on sale for 20 or is it just base game? Thinking of jumping on that $10 Amazon price, but I'd pay an extra 10 for the extra stuff even though I detest the base building.
Cheapest GOTY has been is $30. FYI though, the cheapest the SP has been since the price hike is $25 so if you want the whole package the GOTY is still the way to go even with the base game at $10.

Awww super lame that they're skipping the middle month deposit. Was really counting on that deposit to hit by Monday for a pre-order. Hate when they pull crap like this. Now because I'm going to miss out on the pre-order bonus stuff I just won't buy the game at all until it hits a decent sale. Thanks MS.

That's actually a blessing in disguise. Pre-order crap usually sucks anyways. You'll save a lot more money in the process and (hopefully) have fewer games in your backlog when that inevitable sale takes place. Nothing to be upset at here.

It’s strange how it works if your not used to it. The deposits are around the 15th and 30/31st of the month. Around is really the key word here as it’s random. It could be the 14th or the 17th etc. Twitter is the only way to know each month. This month it was the 10th. It is also confusing if you don’t get how they actually deposit the credits. I will give an example with how it worked for me this month. I had under 2k and 5k is the minimum for auto deposits. As the program was ending and I didn’t expect a restock on gem items I triggered a deposit at 2k. This now locked in my deposit amount. The gem restock happened I got 10k and decided to do the monthly survey. As I had already requested a early deposit for the 2k even though it now said 12k it was locked to the 2k. So I got a deposit on the 10th but the credits from the gem restock and survey will not hit my account till the 31st. Even without requesting a early deposit they still don’t always deposit everything at once depending on when you bought something, the delay in posting to your account and the deposit times.

Almost identical situation to mine. Except I had just over 5k sitting ready for auto deposit. With the gem restock I added 15k. The 5k got locked for auto deposit on the 10th, but the 15k was added after the deposit lock but prior to the auto deposit. This made it appear that I had 20k in time for the auto deposit. However I currently have 15k awaiting the next deposit.

So they replied to my tweet and apparently only credits earned in the previous month get deposited into your account on the 15th. Most credits (except, I assume, those at the very end of the month) get deposited on the 30th. That makes sense as to why we didn’t get ours on the 15th. Think most of us did the points thing earlier this month.

Political rant:
I’m sorry but when the fuck is this country going to take gun control seriously? This is insane and while the NRA will continue to cry about taking people’s rights away, more people will die. We don’t need to “take everyone’s guns away” but we do need common sense gun laws. Period.

Middle Earth: Shadow of War is also Free to Play this weekend, just as a heads up.
It's also on sale for $9.99 at GameStop tomorrow only, with the caveat that you have to have PUR membership. But that plus the expansion pass that's on sale for 20 on XBL nets you everything for 30.

That sucks. I asked for clarification on another tweet they made which said there are two deposits each month because that clearly did not happen this month.
it did, on the 10th https://twitter.com/XboxLiveRewards/status/994645889699532800

Yes, as explained in another post, it only deposits credits from the previous month, which explains why most of us did not have them deposited.
Yeah they seem to have some sort of rolling balance system so whatever is in the account during the 2nd half deposit period in the prior month gets deposited in the 1-15th period the next month. I do wonder if that will semi screw people who earn anything in this final period before the switch over occurs.

soooo the random number generator came up 7, sooooooooooooooooooooo Z-saber wins!

Now, because you already won before, I'll give you a few options :

1. you can take the game

2. you can choose to give the game to someone else

3. if you're not really interested in the game, you can pass on it completely, and I'll do a 5 dollar game next week. (which means you have a chance to win nothing, I know I know, how could I do something like this, build up a little boy's hopes and then smash all his dreams to pieces. I'm an inhuman monster!)

But none the less

The choice is yours and yours alone!

The game was Penarium, yes? I hadn't ever heard of it. Let me check it out and I'll give you a decision. Likely just going to pass though unless it looks awesome.

I don't think so. I think if I read the details correctly we stop earning points as of 5/31/2018, but the rest keeps rolling until 6/15/2018. Which in turn should cover the last deposit.

Not looking good for best buys GCU twitter and reddit are saying it’s gone. No way to renew. According to the employees on reddit you keep benefits till it expires. Not official yet just rumors

Today I checked my best buy account and I preordered Red Dead on what I think was the last visa check out sale 15 months ago. So if it doesn't get delayed again I would've preordered it 19 months before release. At least it was nearly 50% off and I hope they add a $10 reward certificate for it, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I also got an email from the only game I funded more than $1 on kickstarter and I'll get a digital code for it. It's called The Shape of the World and it's releasing on xbox June 6. It's a walking simulator, I haven't really looked into it much so I don't know if it has a story or what it's like. The kickstarted ended July 1, 2015 with an estimated delivery of July 2016...I'm glad I knew from others not to expect it to make that date.

Dammit! My GCU expires in October. Guess I’ll have to preorder anything coming later early if I really want it on release.

2018: first you took Toys R Us, now GCU.... they say death comes in 3's... is GameStop going this year also?

tenor.gif

At least the Golden Knights game starts in 45 mins... please win for me tonight...
I still wouldn’t cry if GameStop was taken.

Wondering if I should preorder a bunch of games from Best Buy. Could always cancel them but lock in those GCU discounts.

I Think because it doesn't show up on the initial product page, but in the cart it comes up with the GCU discount.
This is true. Tried it on a game and it shows up as soon as you go to the cart. I think they’re just trying to hide it the best they can even from people who still have it. Just wondering if they’ll refund those of us who have it long-term if they’re going to eventually just cut it entirely.

On an entirely separate note, I played a little of Korgan, and yeah, it’s kinda simple, and not a great amount of fun, but then I looked at the credits and saw that it was just one dude who made the whole game with a little help from artists and the people who did the music. Makes it a bit more impressive. Just my two cents.
