Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Shadow of war + expansion pass cheaper than definitive edition.
No difference right?

Edit: according to steam forums they are the same, but i forgot the definitive is $20 at BB for BF deals.
For you and anybody else considering Shadow of War (base+expansion pass or DE): keep in mind that the digital version is Play Anywhere, so depending on your play habits it may or may not be worth paying a little extra for a digital version over a physical.

I have a question about the current Game Pass quest. When unlocking the necessary achievements do/did you launch each game from the punch card in the Rewards app or just launch each game as usual (from the Dashboard or Games and Apps)?

I unlocked an achievement in Split/Second and it hasn't checked off yet. I see the tracking can be delayed several days, just wondering how everybody experience has been.
This punchcard you speak of is on the console Rewards App, right? For some reason the only punchcard I get is one for renting movies.

That's where mine was, had the movie rental one also, "October" survey for 150 points, and a bunch of other misc. things for 5 points.

edit: Oh yeah and an Red Dead 2 one for 500 points if you get 1 achievement.

Kind of cant decide on whether Ac Origins gold for $33 or like two $15 dollar titles would be better.

Death to the Outsider and maybe Evil Within ... Or Death and couple of BC games.

I'm not sure how you would launch them from the punch card but I guess you mean pull them up in the MS store and launch them from there. I didn't do that but maybe I should since my achievements in Split/Second, Forza 4, and Halo MCC haven't checked off yet.

I know a lot of you nerds are all in on iTunes for media. Currently has a bunch of complete TV series for $25-30, including:

The Office
Parks & Rec
Futurama
30 Rock
Battlestar Galactica
Avatar
Legend of Korra
House

I wish TV shows were movies anywhere. At this rate I'll probably end up buying an Apple TV.

So I got a bunch of achievements in games in all four categories the night I posted it. Only Horizon 4 and Sea of Thieves have shown up as checked so far. I went and earned a few more last night in two other games in the other categories and am waiting to see what happens. At least we know they don't have to be earned in order or anything silly like that.

btw

I did all 4 categories Monday and so far nothing

Also unlocked the red dead redemption ones and more Forza Horizon 4 Friday night and so far nothing

I'm trying to decide whether to get my nephews (12 and 14) Monster Hunter World or Sea of Thieves for Christmas.  Any recommendations?

I finished the first chapter of RDR2.  It's gorgeous and really well done; I'm enjoying it.  However, if you are of the "stop bothering me with plot and let me shoot people" mindset, you will not like this game.  You spend quite a bit of time riding horses through beautiful countryside having conversations with NPCs.

I Always appreciate games that give me a non lethal means to incapacitate somebody and instead just knocks them unconscious. Makes it easier to pop them in the head with an actual gun when they're just asleep on the ground.

Hitman has the best reactions by the people you're knocking out before they collapse to the ground.

I would guess Sea of Thieves out of those options, if only because Monster Hunter can get pretty complex with all the systems in place. They're old enough that they might be alright with that though, I would think about what kind of games they already play.

I know when the first or second game was out on PSP, my friends little brother was really into the series and he was around that age, and if anything those older games were more complex than World.

Buying the XL bundle gave me Basic MKX, and all the DLC as separate downloads. Should just be able to install the DLC and maybe a very small update for the game itself.

Loaded my account with $100 Microsoft funny money and there is one or two things I'm looking to buy but thats it.Looking at MK XL and maybe Turok but I feel that will hit game pass within 2-3 months.

Made my first 3 purchases:
Ms Pacman
Overcooked Surf and Turf DLC
Final Fantasy XIII

My kids want me to get the Goat Simulator DLC pack cuz they play the original quite a bit. They want Ben 10 and Cars 3 also, so I'll prob pick up all that before this is over.

I made out pretty well for $50 out of pocket (thanks wal-mart) and cashing in reward points,

Shadow of War deluxe whatever

No Man's Sky

Dragon Ball FighterZ

Hitman 2

All the FF13 stuff digitally

game share partner picked up Asscreed Odyssey and Overcooked 2, so I'm rolling. Still have $40 something left trying to stop myself from Divinity Original Sin 2, cause I know like FF XV by the time I get to it, will be so much cheaper.

I mean, I also remotely hijack cars in the game (Watch Dogs 2) either when they're going too slow or they're in my way (or just because) and have them usually steer into another car or into pedestrians on the sidewalk. One time I stole a car, but the person took it back so I made them drive into a gas station pump. So, yeah, I'm a bastard man.

i just redeemed $25 in rewards gift cards i see and hear you guys redeeming more...how do u guys get so many points?
Do every bing search, daily bonus and weekly email

Do every xbox gold quest

Do every xbox game pass quest

Wait to spend points, Never spend points except on rewards that are discounted

I just use all the life lessons and discipline I learned from Mr Miyagi and apply it to bing rewarding every single day of my life for every single point available

Dying alone and being forgotten are worth it when the hot deals come around

I did them all in order on the night it was posted here, in one short sitting, and Forza and indie has still not shown as check marked. Which is annoying because I don't want to have to attempt playing forza again.

Depending on your "Star" level when Xbox Live Rewards went down you also get points back for what you buy funneled back into MS Rewards until the end of this year. I cashed out 60k had about 2k left over, after using that and the $35 wal-mart credit I was back at 22k the next time I looked.

You must be at 100 points per dollar spent huh? I'm at a measly 60 per dollar.

I pushed for that 5 star level the last time there was a cut off date, how I ended up with something like Halo Wars 2 digital deluxe $99 edition that didn't include the DLC. In the end it was worth it because they rolled it over a couple of times as the programs have changed. Supposedly all gone after this year though.

How does this work when the credit is automatically deposited in your account?
you can use it to buy a gift for whatever account you want the game

I don't do multiple accounts for myself but i do all the reward/quest stuff for my nephews account to keep his live active and paid for through the points

and the rest gets gifted to uncle grinchwulf
