Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I Really wish the Fast and Furious game was a VR game and you just play as Vin Diesel and have to constantly talk about family and get into fights that you contractually can't lose.

On TA end of the year I went with Control over Sekiro, but it was neck and neck for me. The collectibles in Control pushed it just a bit over the edge for me, but love Sekiro also. Great time for a Souls fan if were getting a Bloodborne 2 and whatever Elden Ring is soonish.

As soon as you get out your ship. Swim left until you see an island with a big black mountain on it. Go left on the beach on the island and go up the beach trail on the mountain and you'll find a purple glyph, pick it up and go back down then keep going straight and you'll see a forcefield around a door. Use the purple glyph to turn the forcefield off. Then go inside until you find a green glyph. An achievement will unlock. Takes less than 5 minutes.
Thank you very much! This will make going for the 200 points much easier, then I can play at my leisure.

Like being in an actual ocean, been swimming and not finding any land. No focal point for me to swim to.

I am kinda surprised they revealed this at the Game Awards but they need to be one step ahead of Sony to be competitive next gen; smart move on their part. It looks like a small form factor PC, I like that the controller is mostly the same; share button is a plus.

I have a One X so I'm telling myself I don't need this at launch, even though it would be nice to have. I am probably going to wait 1-2 years after launch for a slim version; it'll be cheaper too Lol.
I already decided to wait a year after a console comes out to get them and I’ve pretty much yet to that practice. I’ll definitely get the new Xbox but I’m tired of all the hardware changes, hardware problems and redesigns for all systems that happen in the first year.

Can't wait until they admit that they were insane, and make a slimmer and more powerful one down the line. Maybe the Xbox Series XS.

Wow! Wasn't expecting that. The fact that it's called series X makes me think the Xbox one X would maybe be compatible with the games... Considering it is an X system making it pretty confusing if it wasn't series X compatible. We'll see though!
This is my big question now that I've taken the leap to an X. The fact these consoles are launching head to head has me super excited to see who takes charge. Game Pas Ultimate is the leading reason I'm considering a complete dissension from Sony because I'm tired of the same 3rd person action adventure formula of every fucking first party game they offer. Now that Uncharted is dead, they have nothing of value to offer for me. MS may not have a strong FP line-up, but I don't give a damn if all the new games coming out are just going to be free to me on GPU.

Whatever happens, I'm excited again for once.

GOTY: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Only game that seemed to be universally loved; I didn't even finish it. Got to the last boss and saw that it was just going to be a tedious grind of learning (3? 4? 5?!) phases just to beat and said not worth. I don't think any games were worthy this year IMO. Nothing blew me away or had me remotely engaged enough that I didn't want to put it down. Kinda weird too, since I usually finish games but this year I think I've completed maybe 1-2.

Welp, good thing your votes dont count. Apparently said 8/10 game (realistically is a 2 MAYBE 3 /10 at best) is GOTY. Yikes.

lmao I manage to fail some more

first i did it and was all excited and nothing happened

then i thought shit maybe freedom mode doesn't get them so i redid it in survival and once again nothing happened....

then i realized there are 3 in the valley hull one is a little sneaky and it finally triggered, thanks so much

anyone playing for achievements for points 100% do this method so it doesn't ruin the game for you with frustration

I'd recommend if anyone wants to enjoy the game just count on getting this one easily down the road and just play the game without achievements in mind.
I must somehow be misreading these instructions. I thought I was halfway between the two, swam right, but then about 1500m from the lifeboat a large sea creatures kills me. Neato

I call him the ghost shark

there is a dark grey cloud that you swim towards that eventually reveals the island

go during the daytime to keep track better. I've gone 4 times and only got ghost shark'd once because I went night swimming and there is all sorts of weird shit out there at night, beware the shrieking eels. they always grow louder when they are about to feed on human flesh

That new Sex Box thing is NOT going to fit in my entertainment center.

#whatshesaid
Will not fit standing up in the entertainment center I put my consoles in either.

I am probably not a day one adopter anyway. Will see how it shakes out and how reliable it (and the PS5) are before buying either.

The height doesn't bother me personally, I can see how folks with jammed or tight entertainment areas might have an issue with the height however

Never 😉

I'll get it day one.  As I said, I'm saving up my rewards points and hoping to have $200 by the launch.  Even at $499, $299 out of pocket is a no brainer.

Interesting to see the variety of reactions online, from folks who are super hyped now to people who think it's the Wii U equivalent of impending failure.

I think the name is pretty dumb, but in a world full of New Nintendo 2DS XLs and Switch Lites that don't switch, I really don't think it's a problem. It's a giant fucking tower, consumers will be able to tell the difference.

It's a dumb name, but that's nothing new. The form factor is a new and different sorta sexy, but my first thought was how that's fitting in anyone's setup.

Reveals were a little underwhelming last night, Wolf Among Us was the only really exciting thing for me. I need to give Hellblade another try. It seems like something that would be right up my alley but the combat just didn't click for me.

I'm just wondering what the price point(s) will be for the Series X.

It's an interesting look, I'm not really down on it. I think it's better than the totally bland things we got for the PS4 and the Xbox Ones this generation. I'm more interested in what exactly the "series" portion means. Probably really a stretch but is the Xbox One "X" part of the "X series"? They never truly maxed out that thing with games needed to run on the VCR and the S. I'm locked into Ultimate Game Pass until the summer of 2022 at the moment so I'll be in the market for something that can get the full use out of it. I'll see how all the information parses out over next year to see if I really need one at launch. With so much stuff coming to even the PC portion of GamePass if it's a situation where I can play Halo Infinite on the PC I might just wait till after the holiday rush.

That's more about you than the games that were released this year.

Same here, I was SO disappointed in Hellblade. Everything about it is so awesome except the gameplay, which unfortunately is a big deal.

Also, screw those gateway illusion puzzles to hell and back.

I must somehow be misreading these instructions. I thought I was halfway between the two, swam right, but then about 1500m from the lifeboat a large sea creatures kills me. Neato
I tried this and the other one posted a few times and this was the one island I eventually found. Only one way onto the island, and finally find the two pda's to pop the achievement.

Regarding the daily achievement quest for 50 pts, if you pop an achievement late enough, you can use it to get the next day's 50 pts assuming you want to wait until midnight to check it off. So one achievement for 2 credits. This is on PST with the achievement popping around 8PM, haven't tried earlier since I've off work late.

Yeah, the main issue with the name is they put an "X" in it, given we already have an XBox One X. I don't think there will be the confusion of the WiiU though. The BC all the way back is a great feature. I think the only issues with the form factor are from people that misjudge the size, when you can make it out clearly from the image based on the controller size next to it, it really isn't all that big. The tower form does make entertainment centers challenging, but I guess it is meant to be laid on its side as well.

Everyone complained about functional, VCR like designs of the original XB1. And now people are complaining about a sexy new eye catching and unique design. You can't win.

Sea of Thieves is running a "Calendar of Giving," which means there was be a certain bonus/item/quest each day until the 24th. Today is double XP in Adventure mode and the Arena. Below is the link from Rare.

"On each of the 12 days from December 13th-24th, various bonuses will be available - these range from new cosmetics and special Voyages to reputation boosts from one of the Trading Companies(sometimes all Companies, including the Sea Dogs). Check the calendar to find out which gifts will be yours for the taking each day!"

I'm going to be sad if there are no ports on the front. I love the look, it's bold and it sounds like they're going to deliver on crazy power with equally crazy cooling. The default controller improvements are a pleasant surprise. I was expecting a minor refresh. I'll never use the share button either, but metrics must say people like it.

Now make it $400 to come in strong.

Either they make games that run on multiple hardware specs, which is still easier than designing for PC, or they backtrack on the promise to make games playable on any part of the xbox ecosystem. If gamers really don't care about graphics and "never asked for it," they can play AAA games at 720p and 20fps or stick to pixel art indie games. That's fine by me, because I'm for sure going to be using the best hardware for the best experience. For not having to deal with drivers, directx, c++ redistributables, manually editing config.ini files, etc.. I'm very happy with console performance.

In this day and age, it shouldn't surprise me that someone's into roblox porn...

Nintendo: For revisions put "New" in front. For new hardware, add U or XL or Lite. No confusion there!

Eventually, Sony is the one going to look stupid calling new systems PS# when every other manufacturer is marketing what makes their new console unique. "Hmm, Playstation 9, Nintendo Traveller, or Xbox AR X?" Like, can you imagine if Nintendo was trying to sell the Nintendo Entertainment System Seven?

What's roblox? My son went to a friend's birthday last weekend and his parents mentioned Roblox or iTunes gift cards when asked about gift ideas and my wife and I had no idea what it was (and I stay pretty up on gaming). I went with an iTunes card since I could get it at the grocery store and prefer a card to a printout for gifts. Is this some kids online thing like that old Disney Club Penguin or something?

For a while it appeared Nintendo was just going to add a new adjective to the front of "Nintendo Entertainment System". Remember the N64 was originally thought to be called "Ultra Nintendo Entertainment System" then it went to "Ultra 64", then to "Nintendo 64". We could have been playing the "Spectacular Nintendo Entertainment System" or something by now. They would have to eventually move up to Trump style adjectives like "Bigly".

Roblox has a bunch of custom maps and mini games. It's a game a lot of adults don't pay attention to but it's big with kids. Both Roblox and Minecraft have 100 million players monthly.
