Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Grabbed Just Cause 4 Complete Edition $24.49 and Watch Dogs 2 Season Pass $15.99, total $40.48. I had enough to redeem a $3 Microsoft Reward money then I bought $37 gift card off Microsoft.com and paid the .09 cent remainder with PayPal since I had change in my account. It instantly gave me back that 5000 pts Rewards plus 1000+ pts from Shop & Earn. Plus I always use bates cash back when I buy the games off Microsoft.com, pretty sweet. Really loving this Xbox Rewards and ecosystem. With the free $6 from Rewards, I’m eyeing Injustice 2 Legendary $14.99 even though I already have the standard version, the Ultimate Pack is $19.99 which I think includes crystals or whatever but I just want the all the characters, we’ll see.

Ah, you are right, it looks like they upgraded to Sata 3 on the S and X models. I still believe the speed difference is just down to variances in HD hardware. Nowadays both my X's run my primary games off of a 500GB External SSD. Definitely recommend that to boost the loading issues. I mainly game on PC, also on SSD, and when going back to spinning disks, the load times were unbearable. It seems that Sony is going SSD next gen so I hope that MS is following suit. Can't recall if they mentioned that.
Like I've said before, you want a speed test for an external SSD vs whatever else on the Xbox One X. Red Dead 2, If it's not on the SSD I get anywhere from 8-11 of those old timey fade in fade out pictures every time you start the game and sit and wait. Once I got the SSD external it was always 3 and saved my sanity and got me through the whole campaign at 100%.

The only thing you can check is how many points you received from a purchase aka "Shop and Earn History". Did you buy anything or complete any quest?
Do you get points for buying stuff? Bought a couple games less than $5 which were my first purchases since signing up for rewards, could that be it? Never completed any quests specifically.

So I checked Gamestop just for shingles, and I was not disappointed. Battleborn is currently selling back for 75 cents store credit. Good to know it still has SOME value.

In other news, I received a message saying that my Rewards points from Game Pass quests would expire on December 2nd. Anyone else heard of this happening? Now I may have to turn my points into funny money.

Yes almost all digital items bought on the xbox store receive points. If you have xbox gold you get 20 points per $1 spent on eligible digital content. If you were part of the old Xbox rewards My VIP Star Rank you can get up to 40-100 points per dollar spent depending on your star rank till March 1 2020, unless they extend it again. Right now I get 100 points per dollar spent, I'm going to miss it when it's gone.

It just means you have some rewards points to claim somewhere, either on a punch card or one of those new rewards quests.

It's a very very long time sink TA's estimate is 200 + hours and I'd say that's pretty fair. The problem is some of the characters have ridiculous requirements for their achievements, like do something 100 times that you can only really do a couple of times during a match unless you go into a boosting session specifically for it. Evolve and Titanfall 1 were far easier.

Got 100% in titanfall. It was rough and a lot of repetition to grind stuff out. My leaderboard time on the xbox stats page is like 165 hours, and I still have 4 people ahead of me on my friends list.

May have to check battleborn out before it is done. Anyone play it recently and know if it's active? Would I just be wasting time searching for a match constantly? Don't think I'd want to 100% it unless I really like the game, which I don't think will happen.

Wow that's pretty cool. Never wouldve known about it if you never said anything. Thank you!

Yeah and the problem is, I’ve played Odyssey now so how am I supposed to play any older ones?
That's the fear(?) or uncertainty that I have as well, that once I go Odyssey I never want go back to...uh...Unity? Sure that works.

Ordered the Samsung T5 external SSD from Amazon Warehouse, which has 20% off right now. Not a bad deal at all. Thanks for all of the feedback!
Here's hoping it's only a damaged box then.

And RIP Battleborn a game that I probably also said RIP about 3 months or so after it released, but now RIP for sure for a game I thought went free to play on consoles, but somehow didn't.

For those with 6-Series TCL Tvs or newer, the IPQ calibration app should be out now. I haven't messed around with it because I already calibrated mine with RBG lenses and I like were it's at, but I'll probably test it out soon.
I tried with my galaxy 9+, it'll download the app but when trying to pair it just spins. Looks like they still recommend the pixel phone.

Edit: Iphone will have it's own app to work with.

The Guacamelee 2 DLC is on sale on MS store... but so is the complete pack.  I've almost 100%'d the base game thanks to Game Pass (just saving the last few easily-poppable achievements for the inevitable TA 12 Days of Xmas challenge)... and now I'm spending way more brain cycles than I should in deciding if I should just get the DLC for 2.78 (knowing I'd have to finish the DLCs before it left GP) or the game+DLC for 5.62...

On one hand, I know it's less than $2 for the peace of mind that I can play it whenever I want... on the other hand, I don't know if I'll ever come back and play again since I've done everything in the base game on Hard Mode.

$2... but also, two dollars.

In other news, I received a message saying that my Rewards points from Game Pass quests would expire on December 2nd. Anyone else heard of this happening? Now I may have to turn my points into funny money.
Where did you see that message? I haven't seen one and have quite a few points saved up.

Might as well get the complete. If you enjoyed it so much to go 100% might as well throw the developer a bone at the cheap price so they make a third. If you just buy the dlc and the game leaves gamepass the dlc is useless.

Xbox has this weird Game Pass section that you have to actually scroll to on your Xbox in order to receive the points. Click on My Profile. Right bumper over to Gaming. Then scroll down to Game Pass Quests. You'll see a little tab that says "Turn in quests".

The points only expire if you don't "turn them in".

Thank you for that. I was able to do it from the Game Pass app on my phone, so that's another option. Turns put, it was the daily/weekly/monthly quests that finally kicked on for me that needed to be turned in.

3 months of XBL should give you 2 months of GPU when you redeem it.
Hmmm, when redeeming it said it would give me 1 month only, so I assumed I'd be able to use the enable autopay trick for the other month but that didn't happen. However, it did give me 1.5 months after checking my updated expiration date. Guessing the only way to get the trick of an extra month free only works with Live accounts OR if redeeming actual GPU time cards. At any rate, Newegg has these all for cheap now so I guess the value of the 3 months got kinda washed out. Waiting for my Night Ops controller to come in tomorrow before I open the whole thing and give this beast a go. :)

I think 3 months of Game Pass would give you 2 months of GPU. GP seems to have a better conversion rate than XBLG.

I have to reboot my Xbox one X because it lags once it’s been going for a few days, it’s a weak system but the consoles are 7 years old next year so I’m ready for a hardware upgrade. Yes I know the X is not 7 years old, but it’s still weak compared to where PC is at now. I feel like the Kinect really screwed Xbox this gen so I’m ready for a system that is designed without that gimmick in mind. I’ll probably be in day one for the Scarlett as long as it launches with a game I want to play.
There is no PC or laptop that you can buy for $350 that is as powerful as the X and comes with a 4K movie player.

Not the argument I was making, I’m saying I’m ready for the $499 4x more powerful Scarlett cuz the X is still limited by being part of the Xbox One family.

Budget $450 pc would be way more powerful at this point but it’s hard to go cheaper then that on pc cuz they stop selling outdated parts. I bought a $550 pc over a year ago that’s more speedy because it has an SSD.

Spent my snow day going through XBox Indie Games on Game Pass and decided to try Descenders. That...is a weirdly comforting and fun game for something where I'm pretty sure I'm crippling a man to death on a bicycle.

I'm kind of surprised this is happening, I didn't know CS:GO did promotional stuff. I guess it makes a lot more sense than Team Fortress 2 at this point though. These are stickers you can decorate weapons with, but it sound like they come out of lootboxes. The music is a cool bonus for a Steam purchase, it sounds like it's the original version of some Halo 2 music. I wonder if anything CS:GO or Valve will make it back into Master Chief Collection.

Sweet, I've been waiting for Prison Architect DLC to go on sale since it has 400 points of achievements attached to it. The Full DLC is on sale for $7.99 but if you just want the DLC with achievements, 'Escape Mode' is on sale for $4.49

I posted a dozen pages back that I was having issues with long load times and crashes. I finally got fed up and did a factory reset with the option that DOES NOT delete your games or apps. This fixed ALL the lag and loading problems on my X

Kept getting the dreaded troubleshooting menu on my x over the last couple weeks myself. Finally would not boot at all so had to do factory reset...thankfully all is fixed now and only had to redownload three games I play regularly that was on my internal drive. I tried keep games and apps but that didn't work.

EDIT...oops quoted wrong post...my bad

I noticed there is yet another new "tile" in the MS Rewards App on the Xbox dashboard. Get 50 points for just getting any achievement, wording makes it sound like it's going to be daily for awhile so worth loading up I suppose.

That's freaking awesome! I've been on a daily achievement steak since July so that'll be a nice little bonus.

A few months after release, they substantially dropped a lot of the requirements to more manageable numbers. They still take awhile, but a lot of them are complete-able within 10 matches or less where it used to be 50 or 100 matches per challenge.

Haven't played in awhile, but they've updated matchmaking to supplement with bots which makes finishing the challenges easier. Traffic is pretty light, though I've seen it occasionally pick up at peak times. There are some challenges you're going to want to find a group to work with, but lots of it is manageable solo.

Honestly, it's such a shame it was crushed so hard at launch by Overwatch. I think it's a great game that's been overlooked, and the low traffic just smothered it further. It's the only MOBA-style game I've enjoyed and has some great Borderlands humor in the PvE missions. I think I'll make an effort to try and finish it before it dies.

Fortunately, its characters will live on as the most laughably forced in cameos to Ready Player One.

Do you think it's still over 100 hours to boost?

Did you get an achievement to see if it works? I popped one, clicked it and didn't get a check mark.

Yeah, It worked for me, but it's the MS Rewards app for the Xbox One, so it's sometimes so hit or miss. Took me like 3 different games from their "Femme Fatale" list to find one that worked. It's very odd because the tracking on the new Quests thing inside the GamePass app (maybe only for insider rings) is amazing at tracking, pretty much instant in most cases.

I went ahead and tried out the TCL IPQ app tonight to see if I would have the same problem. I have a Galaxy S7 and everything worked fine. I'm actually glad I used the calibration app because it adjusted my white balance and I don't have equipment to do that otherwise :)

A couple months back I did have a problem where my laptop stopped connecting to my 6-Series and had to do a factory reset on the TV. I hope you get it to work

MS Rewards Reddit says there are emails going out for $5 and up from Microsoft. I know I'll never see one but the subject line says...

"Title of the email is "Get a free $5 gift card before they’re gone" scratch off have $5 Microsoft gift card. Came in my email about an hour ago."
