That's a tough one, they both have their shortcoming. I'd go with Alan Wake, I found some of the later levels in Orcs Must Die to be absolutely frustrating. It feels like the game should be built for cooperative play, but it's single player only. I feel like the game had a lot of potential, but the levels started getting too big for their own good.
Yes but you can always replay the level for do it better or change your strategy or if you have many problems you can always play in apprentice (easy) and then replay later in Mage (normal) when you have more traps or weavers (temporary support in exchange of credits that give you more speed, damage, improved traps).

Personally I never had much trouble with a map on the normal difficulty only to get five skulls.

Wow mega Atari sale. I'm not sure what to buy from them so looks like I'm downloading lots of trials today.

I'm definitely in for the PQ DLC and now I have a second shot at PQG after I play the trial.

I've always wanted the Alien Breed games so I'll probably nab those.

I own 1/3 of the Scratch & Match tracks and will buy the other 2. I'm excited!

I'm planning on buying Zeno Clash if the trial is enjoyable. The rest are in my library already.

Orcs Must Die! is really fun and I recommend that. For those saying it needs co-op, the sequel on PC includes it even though that doesn't help people with only a 360.

You must have been better than me at the game. I had to drop down to apprentice on 2 or 3 different levels. After failing a level 2 or 3 times (later levels each take at least 15 minutes or more if I remember correctly) I slowly decided I just wanted to be done with the game, that I wasn't having fun anymore. I guess the game just wasn't for me.
Hydrophobia....yay or nay?

I already know it was meant as a episodic game or whatever, and I've tried the trial in the past.
Hydrophobia was alright. I Didn't play it before the patch, but the game is a very basic platformer with some stealth elements. It never gets too frustrating and for 160 points you could do worse.

More so if you got a giant backlog you can probably pass. If you got sometime to kill for a 4-6 hour game that ends abruptly then why not?
Thoughts on Zeno clash? Thinking about getting it. Thanks.
First person weirdo facepunch the game?

Get it.
First person weirdo facepunch the game?
Pretty much the exact words that have made me pass on it multiple times haha.

This. Easily worth the price of admission for the strange trip.

It's no worse than the hundreds of posts telling me every DLC or game someone purchased and talk of personal backlogs.

I just had to research this one because I couldn't remember. Xbox Live Gold Trials do not let you take advantage of DotW sales. An actual Gold subscription is needed.
Would this be helpful in the FAQ of the original post?

It's already in the OP.

And that guy's comment was way worse than off-topic backlog and DLC discussion. He was trolling and trying to start an argument.

Unrelated, the OP is done except for the S&S App deals, which I'll get to later if someone doesn't beat me to it. If anyone feels that they can re-organize the random price drops better than how I did it, please feel free to do so. I just tried to group them as best I could, and tried to keep the most relevant content (i.e. Games and DLC) near the top.

As always, I think a special thanks needs to go out to Spylon. Not only does his site make organizing this OP much easier, but there are a lot of price drops this week that we might not have caught without xbldb.com.

Xbox.com updated the sales page reflecting the new DOTW, but the Special Sales page is no longer linked from there and it still shows the EA stuff. Is there any indication of the non-DOTW price drops on the Dashboard?

Can anyone check the Game Room to see if any Atari games dropped in price? If not, I'll check this evening.
Scratch and Match Winning Prize is Aqua, if anyone wants to add it to the op
Aqua is actually a pretty decent game for those who don't have it already. Can't beat the price tag. The only S&M game that was offered that I did not already have was Comic Jumper and I could not win that no matter how many times I tried. Speaking of Comic Jumper, the price inexplicably is still at 1200 MSPs after the price hike when it went on S&M.

If you're considering Alan Wake:AN and you have a PC, keep in mind that you can get the entire Alan Wake collection (original game plus extra Episodes, as well as American Nightmare) from Steam for $9.99 right now.
OMG!!! OMG!!! OMG!!!
Seriously, this one was never, ever, ever discounted as far as I can remember... snatching it NAO!!! :applause:

Also, about AMY... it was pretty much bashed everywhere, and for good reasons. Did programmers ever release some sort of patch to address at least the most game breaking bugs, like Dark Energy Digital did with Hydrophobia (not that they transformed it in a good game, but at least it became playable)?
It really saddened me that Paul Cuisset's new game after all this time was such a disaster, since his past adventure titles hold a firm position in my heart, so I'm willing to give him a second opportunity if someone can assure me that AMY is not the complete wreckage that almost everyone reported to be...
Someone posted a list of post-patch bulletpoints. I think I'm going to pick it up. Tired of shooters.
Thoughts on Zeno clash? And hydrophobia even worth 160? Thanks.
Hydrophobia's a fun five hour game. Some good shooting, puzzles, Uncharted-type of platforming (and swimming of course). I paid 400 back on another sale and I was satisfied.
Shouldn't the Sanctum of Slime game & DLC be in the OP? Or did they drop in price?
Neither are currently discounted, just most of the avatar stuff.
I'm really tempted to get the Ghostbusters jumpsuit for my avatar.
You're not alone lol

I think I can stomach 80 points for some digital clothes haha
Can anyone comment on The Undergarden? I know just the DLC is on sale, but the game is cheap too and if I'm going to bite, I should get the DLC too (since it has cheeves).
Haven't bought the DLC but the main game is ... different. The best way that I can describe it is as a 2d puzzle platformer, only without platforming. There's no concept of health or dying, and you can fly at any time. It's a stress free zone-out game, which is either great or super boring depending on your personality / mood. It also allows drop-in/out couch co-op. It's just about perfect if you have a SO that struggles with more demanding games.
You're not alone lol

LOL, every time I see Kitaro in your signature the words "toilet seat licker" pop into my mind. I really need to watch that show again, it's been many many years since I've seen it.

Just when I thought I would get a break to actually catch up on my backlog. Yet, I am pleased to see that Puzzle Quest (1) will be removed from my "done" list back to my backlog with the DLC finally at a lower more palatable price! I still have to decide if I want XBLA Yar's Revenge or just continue playing (backwards compatible original Xbox) Panzer Dragoon Orta and saving by not buying. I will once again withhold purchasing the Alien Breed games until I actually work my backlog down (so chances are next to nothing).

Strangely enough, the low level of critical response towards Amy intrigues me greatly, since my odd taste may actually find amusement with the title. I haven't tried Amy yet, but it sounds like a nice experiment. However, I already have it in my mind to skip out on Earthworm Jim HD and Zeno Clash UE at 400MSP because neither appeals to me, so experimenting with Amy (if I do purchase, it would be a blind purchase) is risky for me at 400MSP.

With all my interest and need to reduce my backlog, I am sincerely hoping these are all just price drops opposed to a temporary discount. I won't take the chance with the Puzzle Quest (1) DLC and maybe Yar's Revenge, but the rest I think I may have to roll the dice.
Earth Defense Force 2017. This is one I missed out on, but a lot of friends recommend it to me as they say it feels like an oldschool Dreamcast game. Checking a few places for a new copy, it seems to run much more expensive than that. I really like supporting Japanese games seeing international releases since there are less and less of those these days. As far as buying new, is this a pretty decent deal?
Woo! Dreamcast love! Well, from someone else I know they said that practically nowhere in their area of Japan carries anything for the Xbox 360 in stock and the main recourse for the 360 are online retailers like amazon.co.jp. Also more and more multi-console releases (in the USA) developed in Japan are not multi-console in Japan, like Metal Gear Rising: Revengence is PS3 only for your region; probably when Persona 4 Arena couldn't break 10,000 unit sales in its first week for the 360, Japanese publishers are probably losing money producing games on the 360. Given the age of the game and an actual sequel, Earth Defense Force 4, is due out sometime this year, I think getting the game new in your region could be a bit of a challenge. Even the dashboard for my Japanese Live account is refreshingly empty and barebones, all this bleakness indicates it may be best to get what you can at this time for the 360.

EDIT: according to playasia, the US release of the game is actually an uncommonly US release region locked from Japanese systems, so if you have a Japanese 360, the Games on Demand Earth Defense Force 2017 will likely not work for you.

EDIT2: If you have a Japanese Xbox 360, the price for Games on Demand Earth Defense Forces 3 is cheaper at 840MSP! Of course the original disc game was region locked to Japan, so if you have a non-Japanese Xbox 360 it would likely not work.
Check your local Walmarts, I found a ton in the clearance section of mine along with Enchanted Arms, they were 7.50.

Didn't think i was a deal, but then again I guess everything is a deal to someone?

Anyhoo, if you have a Walmart near it might be worth looking where they normally have a holiday clearance section. I wouldn't waste gas going around to a ton though.
In my area of the USA, they are only recently opening up some Walmart stores, but I am sure none will just have that in stock. I am willing to pay double that for a new copy on disc! So if anyone can, message me and I'll get my paypal fired up ^^.
Doubt anyone will buy the NG3 stuff, but if they do fair warning: http://gematsu.com/2013/02/ninja-gaiden-3-razors-edge-coming-to-ps3-xbox-360 Razor's Edge coming to the 360/PS3 in April according to a Japanese retailer.
I am curious about the game, I still have much of Ninja Gaiden 2 (Xbox 360) to finish. That's good to know that I could hold out on the sequel for a lowered price with the DLC. Like Divinity 2 gaining an improved version later, making not only waiting on a bargain appealing but also appealing for added benefits (similar to my waiting on Forza 3 getting a complete edition, but Forza 4 doesn't seem to be cooperating with me). If only Tecmo-Koei would release an edition of Warriors Orochi 3 that had all the DLC, I'd be happy, but no, they choose Ninja Gaiden 3 for improvements and added content, such is my luck.
Thoughts on Zeno clash? And hydrophobia even worth 160? Thanks.
The resident PS+ pusher on this thread of late (potentially ignored by some here) will point out that, yes, Hydrophobia is one of the games on that service and it does offer more than the earlier 360 release. I purchased Hydrophobia at that price a long while back, and it was after the patch that had improved it (so I do not have a reference point to when it was really bad). The game is short without anything spectacular, it was intended to be a trilogy, and the endpoint of the 360 version is pretty abrupt without any sense of closure [I read the PC/PS3 version goes a bit further but still has no closure]. Visually it isn't bad, the play mechanics is like a cheaper Dead Space with Gears cover system. As a budget title, it is fine, the game offers some avatar parts, so the price of 160MSP can be considered a couple of cheap avatar parts with a sub-par game all for the price of an avatar part from a few days worth of Bing searches =P. I think I ended out very happy with the game primarily because the price was so low.

Zeno Clash UE, my thought which blocks me from even trying the game is: "this looks like Elder Scrolls non-mod NPC levels of ugly, without the benefit of being Elder Scrolls" [I didn't play the first 2 Elder Scrolls, so non-mod NPC looks just based on Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim]. I hear it is a unique and interesting indie game, but I just can't have that level of fugly staring back at me, I'm that superficial I guess. The game may be good enough such that it is getting a sequel, at least the trailer for the sequel doesn't appear as screen-filling ugly. I would not know, so I hope someone else can give you a better idea.
Scratch and Match Winning Prize is Aqua, if anyone wants to add it to the op
Woot! I will try and likely not win every day like any other time I have tried. Glad to know that it would be worthwhile for me to try it daily, unlike the times it is an avatar part (in my opinion).

Anyway, thanks Tylerh and everyone for keeping the OP updated. This thread delivers ^^

Sounds like the patch really fixed a lot of the issues, but the games name was through the mud already to undo any of the damage.

Has anyone one here actually played it and have a view on it?

"YES MY QUEEEEN!"

I like to watch the swimming pool scene every now and again for kicks lol

Been waiting awhile for American Nightmare to go on sale, loved Alan Wake so I gotta pick it up; I've heard a lot of good stuff about it.

Not only does crono post a metric ton of text in the body of his messages, he also found the need to write a bunch of stuff in the "edit reason" field. Have you even come across an comment field you didn't want to type in crono? ;)

To answer your question, YES ... "Title:". The edit reason text has always been my "signature" since I do not have those fancy images to show off at the bottom eating up space and/or mobile bandwidth. I could, in theory, start prefacing all my posts by having the title be "warning, text wall =P" but I figure just seeing it is warning enough =P

Is this Matt Hazards first drop? I feel like I have been wating forever for a drop, not sure about 800msp tho. Ive been digging the amount of sales since December I got 32000 MSP during the target half off deal and have gone through half of that on games that are on sale for 400-600 msp.

Awesome! Picked up the Alien Breed episodes (2 & 3). I missed out on the sale of those like two years ago or more and have seen it on PS3 on sale but not XBOX since then. I had grabbed the first one and when I liked it enough to get the last two, it was too late, and thinking they'd go on sale again soon was a HUGE mistake. Glad to finally get that over with!
There's Onechanbara DLC?? Hmmmm I doubt it's very good even at half off. Anybody have it?
I bought the "full pack data" when it released. You get Reiko (who I hated fighting as a boss),a young version of the final boss lady (with a head that seems a little too big) and Misery, another boss (she had a big sword IIRC). They were fun to use and I don't regret purchasing it at full price, so I recommend it if you liked Onechanbara. I don't remember the costumes they added, so I can't recall if they were good or not. They don't add any achievements, though, if that sways you either way. I was surprised to see such old (and I figured forgotten) DLC go on sale, so maybe the Samurai Warriors 2 DLC is next!

I have to jump on Hydrophobia. Last weeks DA2 and KoA DLC sales left me with 1060 MSP and it bothers me when it doesn't end in 00. For 160 MSP, though you can't go wrong, right?...Even if I'm buying in the blind? No demos, videos, or reviews.

I'm telling you now. Avoid it.

There is nothing redeeming about it.

Over on the PSN side of things, Puzzle Quest Galactrix and the Alien Breed games went down in price as well, as did some of that Ben 10 stuff. Galactrix and the Ben 10 stuff is labeled as a "Price Change" (which usually means price drop) and the Alien Breed games are labeled as "Sales". That may be some indicator as to which of these pricedrops are permanent and which are temporary.
