Just to be clear that's in the expansion pass and not the SP (season pass). I'm sure you know, but would hate for you to get the wrong thing. There is a lot of confusion with this on the interwebs.

1) fuck, even in the future nothing works! Seriously, though. You're a bunch of scientists, not military badasses, isolated on a remote planet that has who knows what types of alien life and when a sensor just drops off the radar you just assume it's a glitch. Hell, no. Maybe it's a glitch, maybe it's not, but to just assume it is a glitch and just walk away from monitoring the sensors right after is extremely stupid and the character wasn't written as an idiot beforehand so I do say that's bad writing.

3) I presume this is about the run from the wheel of death. Run away at an angle. It's not hard. I've done it when an idiot coworker blocked a giant oak tree wrong and it fell the wrong way. Sure, you can chalk it up to panic, but it's such an overplayed movie trope.

4) I really should. Those two were scared shitless of encountering a creature. Made no sense to me that when they see one they want to stick their faces right in its face and have no concern for themselves anymore whatsoever.

At the end of the day, I have my opinion and you have yours. Plenty of shows/movies/games have holes in the writing, but we still enjoy them. The new Lethal Weapon show has plenty of basic writing, logic leaps, and good writing, too, but I find it to be one of the most enjoyable new shows on tv. I was just frustrated because I had high expectations. It does have good moments and insight on the franchise, but the hinderance from development hell and rewrites took a toll I cannot ignore. I saw it on opening weekend so I started the "hate train" rather than got on it and I find it ironic you state I feel it's better to fit in than think when actually thinking while watching the movie is how one sees its issues.

Regarding movies...

I was born in 1980, and loved ALIENS as a kid.  I probably watched the VHS at least weekly.  Never saw Alien until probably 5? years ago, and loved that as well.  I also really like Prometheus, as I went in blind and wasn't expecting anything.  I'm really excited for Covenant.  I had no clue it was the sequel to Prometheus.  I just figured it was another after Alien film.

Which of the Alien movies are worth a watch?  Not sure which I've seen of all the versions they have out.  Do they all feature Sigourney Weaver?

Everything after Aliens sucked rhino dick. I will admit the Aliens 3 director's cut was better than the shitshow original but not by a whole lot.

I think you will like Alien 3 if you go into open minded and the directors cut like mentioned above is vastly superior. Alien Resurrection on the other hand is a steaming pile of flop and best avoided by everyone.

Then you have the AvP movies which are mediocre popcorn flicks that don't have nearly enough Alien against Predator combat but can be kind of entertaining.

Yeah I believe I've seen all of the AVP movies. They're exactly what you described. Popcorn flicks. But then again, so are the Fast and Furious movies, and I like those for some reason. Wait... I don't think I've ever seen any besides the first two more than once

 
Alien 4 really is such a disappointment. The premise was kinda cool and there was a novelization which had a lot of narration with Ripley's psychological state which added a lot to the story, but god that movie was bad.

Alien 3 was a good character film for Ripley, esp. the director's cut, but they sure went out of their way to ruin all the storytelling James Cameron did w/ Aliens. Also, the early 1990s CG has aged terribly, and I wish they would have just went with suits/props/puppets like the first two films. Apparently Covenant is using a lot of the same techniques from the first two films, which has me really optimistic.

 
Ridley Scott and James Cameron are the only ones I trust with the Alien series. For me it goes:

1. Alien
2. Aliens
3. Prometheus
And then a pretty big drop to....
4. Alien 3 (although the director's cut was marginally better)
5. Alien 4

The AVP movies are not even worth mentioning IMO.

I too have high hopes for the rest of what Scott has in store for us. The trailers for Covenant look awesome.

Finished Avatar. That brings my total of games finished this year to 1, lol. Started Green Lantern yesterday and almost half way through the game lol. The no camera control is a bit annoying.

 
finished shadow warrior then jumped right into new game plus to pick up some extra achievements combat is lots of fun though I don't like the control scheme

I Would hardly place any of the blame on Fincher. Alien 3 was famously known to have a troubled production (to put it lightly) with the studio constantly interfering and nearly made Fincher quit the movie business altogether.

You guys, I'm loving this Alien movie discussion because it's putting all the 30 or so hours of bonus features from the Alien quadrilogy blu-ray into use for once.

Anyone finish the Zombie? Campaign from Black Ops III?  I think it's called Nightmares or something.  I played the heck out of the multiplayer on that game and traded it in with the thought to pick up the game again when it was dirt cheap and play through that campaign.  Any feedback on it?

I picked up gta online for the first time in months to play tiny racers. It's so so.

Too easy for people to be cheap, and the distance from the leader before you blow up is too short. Once the leader gets too far ahead, there's no chance of catching up in time.

So Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is a lot better than I was expecting.  Never would have tried it if not for GWG.  Even as a solo it is fun. Just put the AI on the shields and you can pretty much handle the rest.  Definitely recommend people try it at least.

 
I actually was liking Alien vs. Predator for a while until that ending that lead to the second movie. Because wow, Requiem was pretty bad.

And am I the only person who liked Alien Resurrection?
