This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Enemy Within is an expansion to Enemy Unknown, but on consoles is packaged with the original as a separate game. You should be able to disable it though and play vanilla XCOM. From what I've read it's a very, very good reworking of the game so I would shell out the extra and get the whole package. XCOM is really excellent, and there is a ton of content there just from the base game so you will most certainly get your moneys worth.
On consoles, you can't play vanilla XCOM: Enemy Unknown with EW (you have to play with all the extras, except for the Slingshot DLC, the 3 new Progeny missions, and the second wave options, which are all togglable). And I agree, XCOM is really excellent and EW is well worth picking up (whether you already have EU or especially if you haven't). It really is a great game (I just wish there were more similar games in this genre being made for consoles this generation).

Oh really? That's weird, I didn't know they'd made it like that for consoles. Well in that case I couldn't really say which to get since I haven't gotten to playing EW yet, but definitely pick up one of them, it's a great game (coming from someone who typically doesn't like strategy games).

So I just got taxed for the first time on here :/

Guess no Bioshock for me (Unless I should just buy 1 and pick up 2 later?)

It's alright, but it did have one of the best glitches I've ever encountered in a game. One of the missions I was suppose to tail someone and all was going fine, until that car somehow going at the speed of 30mph was able to knock over a police car infront of it and kinda blocked itself in. The cop got out of the car and immediately arrested the guy and I failed the mission. When I replayed it again there no police car.
Funny moments like this i enjoy rofl

It's like the Pulp Fiction of games. (showing my age)
What is this Pulp Fiction you speak of? :whistle2:k

I grabbed all the Sleeping Dogs DLC since I own the Bioshock Ultimate Rapture Edition (sealed still) and have no interest in the others at the moment.

Thanks for the new thread Bloomy and thanks to Necro for all the hard work on the last thread during the busy sales! You guys are awesome.

Damn. Big sales this week... Bioshocks are great. Still haven't finished 2, but I am probably in for Minerva's Den. May pick up 1 and 2 just to have them on demand.

If anyone hasn't bought Borderlands 2 and doesn't buy it for less than 10 smackeroos, you're not my friend. It's so much fun. At $10, you can't go wrong.

Grab 1 and pick up 2 whenever. 1 was made to be standalone, and 2 was completely added on. 2 is a great game for what it is, but it sort of feels like a game built with all the scrapped ideas (though it isn't) albeit a VERY similar one, and one with much less impact story wise.

I didn't like bioshock (and infinite) at all. I liked the multi in bioshovk 2 though (even if I had to stop because 2k patched the pc version to steam and I'm not going to start over because they're lazy devs not implementing a launcher like toy soldiers' devs did)

I forgot I already have Minerva's Den. Is it worth digging out Bioshock 2 to play it? Also, Mafia 2 is a great little GTA lite if you want the whole style over substance thing. The game has an amazing personality but after GTA 5 I'm sure it looks empty and dated. Still, I thought the writing and personality were great.

Finally, I couldn't really get into Blood Dragon but still wanted to give Far Cry 3 a shot. Would I like the original more? I found the Blood Dragon pacing to be kind of slow, probably because I'm so used to the heavy scripting of all post COD shooters.

My first bioshock game was infinite. Based on how much I loved that one, I went back to Bioshock 1 for the first time last summer and really enjoyed it. It is well worth the $5 for anyone on the fence.

Borderlands 2, and its DLC, on sale for the 242049th time. Eh, whatever. It's good prices lately but that game has a ridicolous amount of DLC, so waiting one more year or so is probably the best idea (I regretted buying the game + season pass at full price: not as fresh as the first episode, DLCs with less content, and tons of stuff not included in the pass). As it seems they'll be putting the things on sale every 5 minutes anyway, may as well wait until it seems sure they really finished the DLCs.

For $5 each, jump on the Bioshock games. I gotta say I don't love 'em, for some reason the gameplay doesn't want to click for me, despite being an FPS fun. Feels clunky, slow, and the respawn system combined with questionable enemy behaviours and linear (yet still confusing) level designs don't help. The story is nice and the atmosphere is unique though, so for this price I recommend it even if you enjoy it just as much as I did or less.

Spec Ops for 7.50 is where it's at. Heard a lot of great things about it, been tempted to get it for 20$ or so as well, but this price is brilliant. Will definitely pick it up.

Duke Nukem Forever for 5$. Come on, it isn't that bad if you know what to expect. I enjoyed the first time I went through it, and the multiplayer is fun, lag aside. Graphics are ass and the gameplay has TONS of faults, but the variety, the humor and everything are worth the price of admission. Plus it's easy to do at least 950G on it - the issue could be finishing the game on hard, but since the patches it is easier. Still, some turret parts and bosses are a pain in the arse. Funny how such a game parodizing all the bad aspects of FPS games from the past 15 years ends up having some of the worst turret and boss sections from any game I can think of.

The Far Cry games... skip the first ones, jump on 3 and Blood Dragon. Amazing graphics, great and varied gameplay, lovely story. Blood Dragon is hilarious if short, definitely worth for this price. Both are amazing single player experiences, though the multiplayer for FC3 is meh, and the coop is downright terrible. It still is one of the finest FPS experiences overall, FC3 (and the stand-alone DLC) are brilliant, though this kind of sale seems to pop up just as frequently as Borderlands 2, so you may get it now or wait 2 months or so, nothing really changes.

That's my two cents here. I hope it helps people deciding.

FC3 has similar pacing issues but is much more fun to jump in for simple exploration than it's Blood Dragon counterpart. As for Minervas Den, I HIGHLY urge you to give it a shot. It's not long, but it's a standalone story that is almost as good, if not better than the entire retail game it's added onto.

I'm fairly sure I bought Duke Nukem for less than $5 (maybe $3 or $4 new via BBY) and, after playing it for a few hours, I gladly lost money trading it in for $1 or $2.  Life is too short and I have too many games I actually enjoy playing to trudge through it just to say I did.  From what I recall, none of it was that entertaining and some of it was very frustrating (an elevator or turret section is where I stopped).  I'm all for a challenge if it's fair, but trying to overcome poor game design is not something that compels me to continue.

While I though Blood Dragon lost some steam after a few hours, as it was a bit too similar/lacked variety and the 'freshness' of the 80s themes wore off, I never was tired for Far Cry 3.  FC3, to me, was an amazing experience from start to finish.  Just don't buy the Deluxe DLC bundle.

I know this puts me in the minority, but I bought the Ultimate Rapture edition last year as I had never played Bioshock before and that seemed like a good time to give it a shot.  I played some of the first Bioshock and didnt like it at all.  Gameplay wasnt fun, story wasnt good, didnt like the location, just nothing clicked for me.  Ended up not even finishing it (before anyone says anything yes I knew about the story twist) and trading the whole thing into GS.  I just cant get into that series.  I will be downloading Infinite this month on PS plus but I cant even recommend the Bioshock games for $5.

On the other hand, I liked Far Cry 3 a lot.  Very fun game for exploration with good combat and even stealth!  If you havent played yet $15 is an easy asking price for what you'll get.  I paid $20 and got every penny out of it, and will probably pick up another disc copy when it goes below $10 again.

I guess we're... not friends...?

I couldn't get into BL2, not like I did BL1. I picked up the second game Black Friday 2012 for peanuts and had a miserable time slogging though it. The Updated enemy AI was just too erratic, and it probably doesn't help that I never multiplay... and apparently my favorite class, the sniper/assassin class is reportedly the worst class to pick as a loners? (I just chalked it up to being mediocre at FPSs, go figure.)

All in all, I picked it up for $15-25, and a year later turned it into $10 BBY cash, but I'll probably pickup the GOTY when it hits $20 as it inevitably will. $10 Games On Demand? Pass.

Purchases for this sale:

Far Cry 3 - Had to do it. I've been wanting to buy this game again for a long time. I only need 3 achievements so, its time to get it done. Plus I would really love to play the story over again.

BioShock 1 & 2 + Minerva's Den & BI: Burial @ Sea - Need I say more? Didn't think so.

Spec Ops: The Line - I like a good story, its fair to say its my favorite part of playing video games. I hear this game has one.

Thinking about buying duke, but I've heard its so terrible. But seriously..$5 bucks. It can't be so bad its not worth $5 right?

Are any of the dlc's woth getting for Bioshock 2 besides Minerva's Den?
Not unless you're dying for more less than perfect combat. I enjoy electrobolting a man while riviting him as much as the next big daddy but Bioshock 2 has one piece of DLC worth grabbing and it's Minervas Den.

The story is pretty good and fairly well written but the gameplay is very "comical". It's just a standard, run-of-the-mill third person, Gears copycat shooter with bad controls.

P.S. Does anyone know how I can get $1 of Microsoft Credit, or have pity on me to donate $1 ? I'm literally $0.65 away from Bioshock 2 all because Microsoft decided to start charging me tax now.

Are you paying with a linked card or with money in your microsoft account? Just curious as I've seen people mention paying tax a lot... and I've never been taxed, wasn't taxed today when I got Bioshock.

I can deal with bad gameplay for the price.

Buy? Don't buy?

Also, Duke Nukem is tempting. Only missing two achievements in that game for the 1k, but a lack of hard drive space is making me hold off. Plus I remember trying the harder difficulty when I was renting it (but not having time to finish) and thought it was BS where the game isn't harder, the enemies just become more bullet spongey.
The insane difficulty is specially hard in the "on rails" sections of the game and... Octoking, God, how I hated that boss. Also, the final boss needs a little strategy to beat on insane (if you can't find out, youtube is your friend :booty:).

Loved the game and it's extra campaign DLC.

I Thought it being universally panned would be enough to say Duke sucks and was never close to worth the wait. I Played it and it's boring as balls. It's not the most awful game ever released, but this whole console generation has had so many good FPS games that why bother with something less than mediocre.

Nice to see that someone else on this website atleast enjoyed the game. Is it perfect? Not even close, but decent, that it is. I do wish the dlc also would go on sale. not once has it gone on sale.

Duke isn't bad, but it is also nowhere near the game that diehard fans have been waiting for. I really enjoyed it. It's the same Duke, but with linear level designs.

I'll add my two cents.

Far cry 3 - if there is somebody that has an interest in this game and doesn't pick it up at this price, that actually makes me a little sad. It is one of the most fun and satisfying games that I have ever played, bar none. The first person animations are fantastic and remind you of mirrors edge, the graphics are amazing, the story is good, and the gameplay is perfectly balanced. I just don't understand how somebody who hasn't played it could pass on this game, it is easily one of the best of this generation.

Blood Dragon - if you like far cry 3 and you have a soft spot for 80s action films, this is one of the best purchases you'll ever make.

BioShock 1 and 2 - both great games and well worth the money. BioShock 1 has a better story and BioShock 2 has better gameplay.

I love these big games on demand sales, so it's kind of sad that nothing appeals to me. Either I have it or I'm not interested. The two that I considered were spec ops and mafia 2, but mafia looks tedious and spec ops looks depressing.

I'm glad there are some good discounts - Far Cry, Borderlands, Bioshock, Mafia - but I was hoping to take a break from all the stuff I purchased last month.

Unfortunately I am in Canada and it's not available to us :(

About the taxing issue, I've been taxed only when I use my credit card. What I've been doing is this: when I want to buy something I buy Microsoft credit off amazon. When I get the credit entered on my Xbox and buy something it isn't taxed. If you want to avoid being taxed simply buy amazon credit to get around it.

I get charged tax when using Xbox credit. fuckin dumb!

Oh my lanta my prayers have been answered! I've been waiting ages for Bioshock 2: Minerva's Den dlc to go on sale!

If anyone has not played either bioshock's, I cannot recommend them enough; definitely one of my favorite series for the Xbox 360 and worth every penny to me.

Spec Ops: The Line was also a great play, awesome story, and fairly easy achievements. Not a whole lot of replay value, but with it being so cheap it's worth at least one playthrough.

I'm curious about Mafia 2 though; if anyone has played it extensively, is it worth a buy? $5 isn't much, and if it's halfway decent I'm sure I'd consider buying it and playing it eventually.

NOTE: On the Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance Lim. Promo. Ed. was released only as a preorder bonus for purchasing MK: Armageddon. As such it is available in very limited quantities and comes with a new insert that is not available in the regular GH version of the game as well as a slightly altered cover fact on the DVD with the words "Promotional Copy Not For Resale" this is also printed on the insert as well. Midway did a similar promotion with Shadow Hearts: Covenant by giving Shadow Hearts away for free.

Yeah. fuck those people. I actually LIKED MSPs. Their point denomination sales could've been better and made points make sense. i.e. $1 = 100pts.
