This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Since there's a lot of debate on whether you should get Duke Nukem or not, I'll break it down. 5$ is a fine price given the content: a fairly lenghty campaign by today's FPS standards with plenty of secrets and easter eggs, and a decent multiplayer (though laggy and might possibly be pretty much dead). At least 950G is fairly easy to obtain, the last 50G you'll likely obtain are for finishing the game on the highest difficulty, which is a bit hard at some places due to some meh design choices, but it's still easier than playing a COD on the most difficult setting.

The main dividing point of the game is that it's pretty much an old game, and that it has a lot of the shortcomings you wouldn't expect from a game actually parodizing modern FPS games. If you like old school shooters, Duke Nukem Forever does give plenty of explosive action, albeit in more linear levels than you'd expect from a classic shooter. The secrets are all there however, and so are the unique and bizarre levels. The Duke Nukem style is untouched since Duke Nukem 3D: if you find his sexist, macho attitude funny, you'll have a blast because his one-liners are often hilarious, with (as expected) tons of references and easter eggs on the likes of Halo and Serious Sam.

The reason many disliked it is because it just doesn't hold up with modern shooters. As it is currently 5$, that's a price you might definitely justify, but compared to what you get nowadays for a full price FPS, DNF can obviously be disappointing. Graphics are pretty bad, plenty of glitches (though it is patched since launch), lenghty loading times, linear levels, a gameplay that does indeed feel old, and the whole thing looks like unfinished, given its complicated development. But it's got plenty of humor and old-school Duke action, so if you're into a ride of badassery in his form, 5$ is definitely worth it for what you'll get. If you dislike (or don't care about) Duke's humour, you don't like the idea of a linear old-school shooter, or simply you're craving for a up-to-date FPS experience, DNF will disappoint you. If you can look aside all the technical and design choices for the sake of the fun of Duke's character and of blasting big ass aliens, get it. Simple as that.
Well said and the load times were definitely very bad. My general recommendation is that if you are old enough to have played Duke 3D when it came out and then followed the whole saga of DNF's development, it is worth playing through for the sheer curiosity factor - and amazement that the game eventually came out. If you are younger and none of the above applies then you should skip it.

Not sure if XBLM joke or legit pot price criticism, or both :p I saw some chap's receipt for 3.5 grams come to 60 and change, and while that may be a shocker for some out there, that is sadly a passable price out here in our "marketplace."
Yikes. I was hoping to enjoy some legal pot in the near future (wife should have less of a right to complain if legal), but that's fucking expensive.

Saints Row the Third. She plays one of the twins.

Er...I mean, who's Sasha Grey?
Viola DeWynter. She was written out of Saints Row IV though. I guess they couldn't get the actress back-- she must have been busy doing something else. Though I simply can't IMAGINE what else she would have going on. Just no idea. :whistle2:$

She retired like a year or two ago.

...Or so I've heard about this person I have no idea whom she is.

Obviously she was out volunteering at homeless shelters and performing missionary work in Rawanda.

First we need to go through people asking if the deals have gone live yet, where we are getting the deals from if Major Nelson hasn't announced them yet, and whether or not you can pay with part MS money and the rest with a credit card. As much as I miss points, at least we don't have the question about how to use points on certain purchases anymore. Did I miss any others?
I prefer when they have no idea about Spylon's xbldb. And asking if we can use converted credit from the website.

Anybody having problems downloading today? I can barely get to 5% before it stops with no error code.

EDIT: Apparently it's just my shit internet. It's getting 1.5 Mbps down  :wall:

Damn all these $5 games. I know I'll never play them, but I LOVE having games on demand that I CAN play if I want to...

Probably going to pick up Bioshock 1 and 2 before the sale is over, along with Minerva's Den. On the fence about Spec Ops... Tempted by Mafia II, too.

Play the Mafia 2 demo. Its really good. Now I just bought the game llol.

Far Cry The Wild Expedition announced on Feb 14. Includes 1(classic), 2, 3, and blood dragon.

Maybe some of you prefer to wait for a physical copy instead of getting it digital. I know I probably will get FC classic digital when it goes on sale... in the future ;) Already own FC3 & Blood Dragon from previous sales. So I won't get the disk compilation.

Something about not including Classic in the US. Idk.

Its ass backwards. Says it doesn't include Classic, but it is on ps3 only.

Someone make sense of it.

Is this a remake of the real Far Cry 1 that was only on PC? Is this going to be a $60 game?

Yup, the HD version of the first FC. $30 I guess, since it will be 30 pounds in UK.

Your link It does say that it includes Classic. Scratch that. So in North America it won't be released with Classic. Idk why. Let's hope it's a misunderstanding. And that only on PS3 seems like a bad joke.

edit: allgamesbeta does say it will be released in UK (nothing about the rest of the world): http://www.allgamesbeta.com/2014/01/far-cry-wild-expedition-announced_9.html

See what I mean. Confusing as shit. Oh well. Never played the original so I guess I'll just pick up the standalone version.

Play the demo for it. I wanted it from before but the disc version is around $20 used so I bought it here :D

I lol'ed a little bit when I saw this on xbldb but if you weren't able to get Aqua from the McDonalds Xbox promotion, it went down to $4.99 in the XBLM.

mcdonalds had a promotion in december where they gave out xbox ones and xbox digital codes
You were much more likely to get the latter than the former, though. By the end I was swimmin' in The Maw codes... evidently the game went over like a wet fart when it was first released. I feel like I was the only one who actually paid money for it!

My Bioshock download keeps erroring :(
Happened to me with both Bioshocks.

I cleared the cache, redownloaded the profile and then downloaded Bioshock from the sales tab (instead of from purchase history) and watched with baited breath as it took almost an hour to download.

Don't worry you're not the only one! I bought it like 6 years ago. Possibly more I don't remember the release date but I got it within a couple months of release back when I bought every arcade because they weren't released as fast as nowadays.

That's right. The Commander Edition (a.k.a. console edition) is the original XCOM: Enemy Unknown with the expansion material already mixed in. You can't play the original XCOM: Enemy Unknown without all the new added stuff, but you don't need to own a separate copy of EU to play EW (like you do on PC, where you need to own the original EU in order to play EW). I think ethreet just wanted to know if the digital download was the same as the hard copy "Commander Edition" (which it is; all console copies are the "Commander Edition").

So, EU is included in EW in that you don't have to already own EU to play EW (but you can't play vanilla EU without EW, it will have the extra stuff already added in).
Because I'm an idiot, I don't totally get this: If I buy this digital Enemy Within, I get ... the campaign of Enemy Unknown, but with all the extra gameplay features of Enemy Within, so I can't play the Enemy Unknown campaign as it was originally intended to be played?

Sort of like if you buy a remixed CD, you aren't also getting the "original tracks" as well.

EW includes EU as a framework, then adds more missions, another threat from Exault, and more resources (genetic mods, mechanized soldiers). You can not choose to play EU through EW as it was originally released, no. But even with the added elements, which - imo - are fairly substantial. the main plot - of responding to an alien invasion - remains unchanged. EU is great, EW is even better.

fyi, Enemy Within is $25 used at GS. With PUR and the birthday coupon that brings it down to $18 + tax. In case anyone is low on hard drive space.

Happened to me with both Bioshocks.

I cleared the cache, redownloaded the profile and then downloaded Bioshock from the sales tab (instead of from purchase history) and watched with baited breath as it took almost an hour to download.
I just kept deleting the partial download it would leave and trying again. After failing three times, I sat and watched it download the entire time, and it finally worked!

MS barely keeping 360 servers going and min work so expect to get worse over time.

The Maw is actually a pretty good game though. I enjoyed playing through it. Kinda' offbeat and fun. The kids thought it was hilarious to watch me play it.

Yeah The Maw is actually fun. I got it as a free bonus for purchasing Bastion (which is far superior), but I ended up finishing The Maw and even picking up the DLC for it.

I loved The Maw and my kids thought it rocked.

Nowadays? There will be only two arcade games released for the whole month of January I believe (Assassin's Creed Liberation & Rekoil). February has none. At least none that were announced in advance. Sad!

Btw, I know exactly what you meant by your statement, so no need to explain. ;)

Still, I'm quite happy that since I got the AC4 Season pass, I'll get Liberation HD half off :)

I was gonna buy bioshock then found out i had already bought it,  i ended up getting bioshock 2 and the addon.

I have too many games that i dont play,  i have a collector addiction i think.

Trying to work my way through my growing backlog, but I think I'll have to grab Bioshock 1 & 2 along with Minerva's Den, just because of the reviews everyone is giving it on here. I can wait for Far Cry 3 to drop further in price. Still have to start Dark Souls & Metal Gear Rising.....probably time to start pining everything I have to play

Far Cry on PC or this instincts evolution 360 thing?
The one on sale is Far Cry Instincts Predator. I think Evolution was original Xbox.

Far Cry Classic comes out next month.

edit: *facepalm* at the Slipknot vs. Bieber ad in the music section of dashboard.

I have fc2, 3 and blood dragon already. Instincts came out on regular Xbox. Instincts evolution was both old Xbox games in HD. they are supposed to be console versions of far cry 1 but not open world. If they are good I'd try them but I'm curious to see if the original far cry will be standalone.

FarCry Classic comes 02/12 for £7.99, but yeah XBLA is pretty much dead.

Just read about Wallace and Gromit delisting from Xbox Store. Man, they should have offered these at crazy low price during Christmas sale. ;/
