This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Because if it was even 25% off, it would be the same price as just episode 2 of the DLC, which would be stupid of them to do the day it releases.
You know, I'm really glad you guys started mentioning this as I wasn't paying close attention when I first looked and was contemplating buying the discounted DLC till I took another look at the season pass and realized it's really the better deal even with the discounted prices on the others.

No, the XB1 games you see listed (and their 360 counterparts) are currently NOT on sale yet. If you look at the fine print those 3 titles won't be on sale until Friday, and will last through next Monday. That's the preview he's referring to, showing you that they will be placed on sale soon.
That may be all that is on sale but on twitter major nelson posted "This Week’s Xbox Live Store Deals are now available. Plus, a preview of some Xbox One sales starting this Friday"

So is Tomb Raider worth it at 30 bucks if you have never played a Tomb Raider game? I would be getting it on the xbox one possibly.
I don't have a one and have only played it on the 360 but yeah probably, and to be honest no previous Tomb Raider experience is needed as it's a totally different and better game in my opinion.

I understand, but I guarantee that he's referring to only those three games, and no more.
If I had to bet I would agree with you but his wording has me hoping and my wallet scared. Going to get Thief, Tomb Raider and Metal Gear on Friday. Only XB1 games I am waiting for are Dead Rising at $40 or less and Ryse at $30 or less so if either comes this soon I would be pleasantly surprised.

Thief gave me a headache so I barely was able to play it. Expect a lot of camera movement if you are opening up everything.

Might bite on Tomb Raider. It is a short game and wanted to rent it, but it is not available anywhere.

I'm still all for waiting for Tomb Raider to be $30 for a disc version. Haven't played it on 360 so if I waited this long to play, I can wait some more for XONE.

The multiplayer is basically one match with the same people. Also, I recommend not going for 100% due to the time consuming online achievements.
How time consuming are we talking? The most lengthy achievement I ever got was King Of The Scrapheap for Transformers: Fall Of Cybertron. Took a good two weeks to max-level all four classes.

My brother in-law bought thief and tomb raider for $29.99 each through square enix online store. Should have been 30% off but since thief came with a free shirt we think it made the entire order 50% off.

What's with this Sacred Citadel thingy, almost a month since i fed the backlog. It's getting hungry and with Dark Souls 2 finished i neeed to calm it down.

Anyone playing multiplayer on Tomb Raider? Is it active or not? When I start playing I'm planning on shooting for 100% cheeves.

Not sure if they patched it, but when I played the multiplayer (I think within the first 3 months of release), it would randomly reset your progress. I was 3/4s of the way towards the max level and got reset to 1. Similar thing happened to another of my friends. So we didn't bother to get 100% of the cheeves and just traded it in.

Also, be prepared to be spawn trapped. Easiest game to spawn trap that I have ever seen.

Looks like the big Project Spark announcement was that Linkin Park made a music video in Project Spark and you can remix it yourself in game.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfnhGW2Q_y0

I know it's not the same but I have Spartan Assault on my Windows phone and found it incredibly mediocre. Even accounting for virtual controls I think it's a 5 dollar game and only suited for people who can't get enough Halo or deeply love any sort of twin stick shooter.

Also, there's no way they could have classed the game up enough to escape the "I'm playing a phone game on my Xbox" feeling so there's that.
This exactly. Still haven't beaten it on my phone. I wouldn't imagine actual sticks to be that much of an improvement to make it worth it.

Yeah I'm a big Halo & Auto Assault guy but I could say I could wait for 5 bucks for Spartan Assault.

Also that Linkin Park Project Spark thing just reminds me of a crappier Runner 2 experience lol.

As for Season Passes I'm thankful I jumped on, Bioshock Inf and Borderlands 2 are on my list.

Damn autocorrect

I was playing Tomb Raider about this time a year ago and the online wasn't time consuming. It's like playing any other game where you rank up, which will take at least a few days to weeks depending on play time and skill/luck. You'll have some difficulty finding Ranked matches some times, but if you play on weekends you'll probably find a (player) match. I'm saying this a year later, so it could be harder to find matches.

Aside from stacked teams of high ranking players, spawn trapping, and people hopping around instead of running to abuse movement speed and targeting, the game was fun. I actually enjoyed playing it, and liked the idea of traps and vertical design. The maps could have been larger, and having a large group of players in some of the smaller maps can be chaotic, but I guess that means more fun as well.

Be aware that if you are after the achievements, the hardest one for me was the 20 Turret Kills. The turret is only found in a few levels, is usually poorly placed, is very weak, and you shout loudly when you get on it (broadcasting that you're using it to everyone), and it's loud and slow to start firing. Essentially, if you're slightly aware and competent at video games, anyone attempting to use the turret is an easy headshot kill, as their turret fire will take a few seconds to kill you. One match I was lucky enough to get 7 kills with it, and that was a record for me. Other matches, I would struggle to maybe get a kill, and it frequently resulted in me dying via a headshot and just getting assists.

Things like getting two kills with one explosive you'll get accidentally. In some matches you can spawn on your teammates, like the Battlefield games do, and you might coincidentally use an explosive on someone as their teammate spawns on them. Also, killing someone off a zipline is hard because a single shot knocks you off it. That means you have to kill a person in one shot. The best way to do that is to be by a short zipline, near the end of it, and surprise blast someone as they ride it. The issue with longer ones is that people may drop from them sooner by choice. I used the starting shotgun with the upgraded power, and blasted a guy riding a short zipline out of the spawn on the muddy village map.

Be warned, I also liked the multiplayer in Bioshock 2 and Gears of War (even with the flaws they each had), so I expect to hear I have horrible taste, even though I just play games.

Yeah... Not speaking to whether it's actually worth the price or not, but the Infinite season pass is pretty crazy compared to other season passes and the difference between paying for the parts separately. Like 50% savings versus $40 for both Burial at Sea episodes, Clash in the Clouds, and the powerups. I think when they set the price for the pass they didn't really have a plan for what would be in it and how much each thing would cost.
The season pass content costs $35 separately, so the savings are ~43%. The Columbia's Finest Pack is not part of the season pass, and the power ups that are unlocked with the pass are different. Will make note of that in the OP.

The percentage is probably still better than most other season passes, but that's because the sum of the DLC prices ended up being higher than originally announced, which was ("nearly") $30. The $20 pass would've been 33% off, which is the same percentage as the Gears 3 pass ($45 vs. $30), and what Borderlands 2 ended up at after the first Upgrade Pack (level cap raise) was added to it (also $45 vs. $30). Gears Judgment is only 20% off ($25 vs. $20), though the double XP in the pass adds some extra value that isn't available separately. Mortal Kombat and Wolf Among Us are 25% ($20 vs. $15). Injustice was similar, except the extra skin pack included pushed the percentage to ~35% ($23 vs. $15). Are there other passes?

Didn't Forza Horizon and CoD games have season passes as well? I Know Mortal Kombat did too along with Assassin's Creed III and I think WWE's All Access Pass counts as season passes as well.

EDIT: And you already mentioned Mortal Kombat, eh, oh well. BASK IN MY MISTAKE!

Look into rol play communities ;) But it has its disadvantages: I had to buy mass effect 3, skyrim and such on day one, ouch.
There's RP communities outside of text scenarios or erm.. "adult" things? You learn something new every day.

The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct - $12.49

Halo: Spartan Assault - $9.99

Thoughts on these games?
Survival Instinct is pretty bad. Keep waiting or rent it. Spartan Assault is okay, I'm just gonna keep holding out for $5.

Yeah so... Where the hell is Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate and the Castlevania LoS 2 Revelations DLC?
Blackgate HD is next week, iirc. And wouldn't even release until a Wednesday. The LoS 2 DLC is supposed to be out today though, afaik. So that's a fair question, just give it 'till the end of the day.

I got it at launch, probably wasn't worth it (GCU helped), but I would say it's worth it at 30, wasn't nearly as bad as the reviews made it seem, I haven't beat it yet but the beginning was pretty slow though.
The ending is terrible. Absolutely terrible, both in what you have to do, and story-wise (there are cutscenes clearly missing). I think it's part of the reason for the low reviews. The game itself is.. not so good, the issues mentioned earlier are legitimate, even on the next-gen versions. As a whole It's not TERRIBLE, just a lot of wasted potential. And if you are a fan of the originals (like me), pretend those never existed because the game is a complete slap in the face to previous fans of the series (seriously, the game makes a point to mock previous stealth game concepts). It's also a bit short, but there's a decent amount of replayability.

The game had a lot of troubled development, so I wasn't really surprised by the outcome. Also, get ready for cockrings jokes and a LOT of dubstep. I wish I was joking, the soundtrack is so out of place and clearly put in for mass market appeal.

Iirc, originally they were going to have 3 add-ons priced at $10, meaning you got one for free. Then for some strange reason, Clash was only $5, but the Burial at Sea stuff was $15 each (guessing it was so they could get more money..), so you strangely ended up getting one of the most expensive DLCs for free. Really odd situation, but since Levine and his team did that DLC the right way (creating it after launch, and not cutting things out, closer to an expac), it's forgiveable. Though they also did Columbia's Finest.. which is the wrong way to do it (and didn't even include it in the Season Pass for whatever reason).

Bookmarked this post. Thanks man. I don't plan on playing it for a while (still have a small backlog to work through) but this is good info.

Blackgate HD is next week, iirc. And wouldn't even release until a Wednesday. The LoS 2 DLC is supposed to be out today though, afaik. So that's a fair question, just give it 'till the end of the day.
Blackgate was SUPPOSED to be out today. Got postponed til the 2nd. Castlevania dlc got postponed til tomorrow as well.

I was gonna post about this earlier, but no one replied to my original post and just assumed no one would give a shit.

I care man, I care. Weird about the DLC postponement. I'm hoping Blackgate being delayed means Skullgirls Encore comes out tomorrow.

Thank you :')

Maybe. That'd be nice. With the postponement I'm now gonna reassess my funds. I've got a limited supply of Xbox credit on my account and with some X1 games on sale starting Friday, might have to get that instead.

I tried to remix the Linkin Park song and all I accomplished was making them sound like chipmunks.
If there was an Alvin & The Chipmunks do Linkin Park songs album I would nod my head in approval. I Wouldn't buy it, but I'd merely nod my head in acknowledging it exists in the universe.

Also, I meant to type this. The explosive achievement can also be done on territory matches (or whatever they're called). At some Rank you unlock a remote explosive to use, and it's best to put it in the territories as the game tells you how many people are in a territory ring via a hologram number above the ring. If you see 2 or more people within it, and placed your explosive near a place people cluster (like cover or larger objects to avoid gunfire), you'll probably get an easy double kill from it. Just be patient, and let them get comfortable.

There's probably people from this site who still have the game and play it, so you could always ask for help in the thread for the game here.

I have not played Bioshock but I keep thinking it's going to be on GWG. I'm thinking of biting it for $5 but I wonder if it will be Aprils GWG right after I buy it.

I feel as though I made this huge effing mistake trying to support the "all digital generation". Has Thief even been out for a month? I was excited for it, played it for an hour or two, then remembered I have to 100% Age of empires online and dawn of war II before the server shutdown July 1st, and then titanfall came out. Everybodies DRM fears aside, if microsoft would have stayed the course, we could have bought the discs from best buy using GCU, installed the game and never touch the disc again.

Well, luckily the GWG for April should be announced at the latest on Monday, the 31st, so you'll have time to decide.

Spartan Assault isn't a bad game per say, It's just that It's basically a glorified mobile game. I'd say even at $5 I'd recommend getting something else. It will probably be one of the first free Games with Gold games for the X1 outside of Loco Cycle and Crimson Dragon.

I know this is sad but, I'm probably going to grab Tomb Raider for X1 despite owning it on the 360. It was my GOTY pick for 2013. I'll probably triple dip when it goes free on PSN+ for the PS4 lol.

I've heard nothing but bad things about Thief on every system, including the PC. Stay away.

Bioshock Infinite my GOTY runner up from last year as well. Easily worth that price*.

* As always, a opinion. I did not play The Last of Us, Mario 3D World, Link Between Worlds or Saints Row IV. From the brief time I spent with Fire Emblem I'd say It's #3 or #4 on my list.

Infinite seems great at that price, but I think we will see that price again as Bioshock goes on sales 4 times a year. What say you horde O cheap bastards....pull the trigger or wait and work the back log? :)

Spartan Assault is a lot more fun on the xbox one than on windows 8. I know you can use a controller on the pic version, but it plays really well. Since I got it on windows 8, i was able to get it for 4.99 on the xbox one and 360.

The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct - $12.49
Haha, not even if it were free, Microsoft...not even for free...

Not only would I not get it if it were free, but I wouldn't even do what I've done with all of the other GWG games: purchase then delete install when it starts just to have the license...not even the license for free....

Robert kirkman did an askmeanything, and made repeated jokes about how shitty survival instinct is. When asked why he said he doesn't control everything in the IP, and said "it says AMC at the start of the game, if it said my name I'd take responsibility for it. "

You just jinxed it..this game will be GwG now I swear...lol

Who had the google doc or spreadsheet that listed every XBLA game released and if/when it had gone on sale?  I'd like to take a look at that again, anyone with the link?

Also, Double Dragon Neon will prob go on sale next week b/c I think I'm caving now.  And, Dustforce, w(where)tf.

Pretty sure that was Tyler, though I don't know that he updates it anymore.
It was Tyler. Also, I don't think the list needs much updating honestly (due to lack of new sales/new titles added to Marketplace). Maybe Bloomy will update it? :p
