This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

I've said it before but Halo stuff is one of the few gaming properties I'm a sucker for. The price drop on SA caught my eye and is almost enough to make me bite with my new X1. BUT, if it's truly a permanent price drop what's the rush? I will see if it ends up a GWG soon or gets a bigger sale.

Probably this means that we will see a sale on Half Minute Hero pretty soon. Great news for those who care (count me among them).

I tried finding it but couldn't find anything beyond the vague 'three content DLCs for the price of one!" jargon... What would buying the Infinite season pass ensure me today? Clash in the Clouds, Buried At Sea 1, and Colombia's Finest Pack? Sounds like it's better buying it piece-meal as is now since they're on sale.

Clash in the Clouds and both Buried at Sea episodes. You don't get the Colombia's Finest Pack but you do get a different pack with similar style stuff in it.

I have a query, maybe someone with an XBone but no 360 who is on this thread can check it out for me by telling me if they can purchase free GWG XBLA games for the 360, but does Xbox Live Gold for one system allow you to purchase free Games With Gold for the system you don't own. Hence will I as a non-XBone user or owner be able to amass some free games when they do start doling them out for that system so that in a few years time when i do own an XBone (if ever that happens) I'll have a library ready to game with?

Except do realize that the XBLA version of Half Minute Hero has less features than the PSP or PC version. I think the PC version is now considered the best one to buy. Also if anyone is interested that sequel mentioned came out in Japan in 2011 for the PSP. Looking forward to a USA release :)

I imagine they've thought that though, and will likely put restrictions on how game licenses are acquired. For the Xbox One GWG games, I'd bet they force people to purchase through the console itself. I have a friend with a One, so I plan on signing in with my profile when the program starts to see if I can snag games that way.

I always end up buying games for my little brother's account on the website. I'm not sure if that answers your question even remotely, but I know that works. I also do it with my account, although I do own both X1 and 360.

Yeah, right now you can't get anything for the Xbox One through the website, aside from anything related to codes you redeem.
(XBL Rewards sent me a code for DLC for Ryse and that worked perfectly), so you need a box in order to buy anything.

As for an Xbox One user without a 360, it's easy enough to buy GWG 360 games through the website, as long as you have a payment method attached (I have a used up prepaid debit, for example).

Everything about these games looks terrible.
Half Minute Hero is an amazing game that's worth a try. When I owned a PSP it was one of my go to favourites for a quick play as most levels take under 2 minutes to complete so it was perfect fodder for a subway ride. There is a lot of replayability as well as you get certain ratings/bonuses based on different decisions you make (each level usually has about 2 or 3 different ways to beat it). The XBLA version is good. I don't like the updated graphics and find it annoying that I have to change it each time I start up the game. The music is phenomenal and there's a lot of great humourous moments in the game as well as a lot of various branching. Sadly the XBLA version is missing the fleshed out other modes such as Princess and Knight mode that are watered down. The originaly graphics are meant to look really ugly and pixelated, that's sort of the joke as there's a fair bit of meta humour about the game.

Ultimately it's a great experience, though I do prefer it on the PSP to what they released on XBLA. It's still fantastic if you can grab it on sale especially if you're an old school gamer who remembers playing Zelda and other Zelda-likes back on the NES. It still cracks me up that the fighting in the game is essentially just running headlong into your enemy into they run out of health. The combat has zero depth but there's a fair bit of strategy in knowing when to buy additional time and some interesting puzzles that often depend on precise timing to find secrets. Definitely worth a trial in the very least. But yeah, wait til it goes on sale as I wouldn't buy it for full price.

Thanks for the answer guys. It looks like it pays to know someone with an XBOne to do that for you. Though hopefully they'll sort out website purchasing so we might be able to just do that on there. It'd be great to have a few games for whenever I do grab an XBOne - fingers crossed that MS doesn't put too many hurdles for me to jump through to manage that.

You can actually order XB1 games through the the website. If you click on the games tab one of the tiles at the top states Xbox One Game store browse now. I have ordered from there before and would imagine if they had free games you could order through there without a console.

Blackgate was SUPPOSED to be out today. Got postponed til the 2nd. Castlevania dlc got postponed til tomorrow as well.

I was gonna post about this earlier, but no one replied to my original post and just assumed no one would give a shit.
Where did you hear that Blackgate was coming out on the 25th? Every single announcement back in February(by WB) said the game was coming out April 2nd. I have literally, never heard of a different release date other than from you. http://www.savecontinue.com/2014/02/batman-arkham-origins-blackgate-deluxe-edition-announced-by-warner-bros/

This week is meh, as usual. Will wait for a good publisher sale or something cause the DotW has been crap/repeats for a while now

EDIT: Not meant to be condescending to you, just wondering who the heck made this false release date for Blackgate. Perhaps the same people who predicted Batman Arkham Asylum and Ninja Gaiden 2 was GwG freebies??

I was excited for Half Minute Hero, but when I tried it I just could not get into it.  At all.  Maybe I was missing something.  If it goes super cheap, I'll pick it up.  Sometimes the demo isn't indicative of the full experience.

EDIT: Not meant to be condescending to you, just wondering who the heck made this false release date for Blackgate. Perhaps the same people who predicted Batman Arkham Asylum and Ninja Gaiden 2 was GwG freebies??
Yes. Condescending indeed. For that I say, "YOU DICK!"
But ill forgive you. Read here:

Ah, okay. The Microsoft XBL website listing leak. You must have missed the WB announcement then. PEACE

With all the backlash towards Survival Instinct, I have only one question:

Worse than Amy?
I had a free rental code from redbox and got Survival Instinct and I still got ripped off. I want my money back man. But really, that game had horrible AI, the environments were empty as hell when you were in em, the story was horrendous for a video game.....the list goes on.

I am ashamed to have TWD Survival Instinct on my gamercard. And I've played Avatar and imported My Horse & Me 2 for the achievements.

Update on Guardians of Middle-earth Online Impressions

OK, I had a lot fewer lag issues when I was playing Gold mode (no compatibility packs or maps downloaded). Since downloading them, there have been some horribly laggy games and lots of disconnects - if not me, someone in the match. Seems to occur with the Brazilian players. Still fun when I can get through a game with a full team, though.

Robert kirkman did an askmeanything, and made repeated jokes about how shitty survival instinct is. When asked why he said he doesn't control everything in the IP, and said "it says AMC at the start of the game, if it said my name I'd take responsibility for it. "
Did anyone ask him why the show has gotten so shitty? He's all kinds of involved with that.

Yeah, right now you can't get anything for the Xbox One through the website, aside from anything related to codes you redeem.
(XBL Rewards sent me a code for DLC for Ryse and that worked perfectly), so you need a box in order to buy anything.
as someone else pointed out, you can buy any game for the One online:

https://store.xbox.com/en-US/

I think it'll be the same when games with gold hits the One

That's.. new. I'm annoyed you can't buy DLC though, I want to crossbuy the Season Pass for ACIV before the deal expires.

Also, wow, is that all the games for Xbox One so far? That's a surprisingly short list, I figured there was more.

If MS starts going apeshit with X1 digital discounts, I'm gonna need a bigger hard drive, quickly.
That is one reason I've held out on all these great sales recently on the Xbone... In terms of straight price, $430-450 is as good or better than it's likely to get in the next couple of years... BUT there is the strong possibility that they'll do a version with a larger HDD. I'd rather have that than pack-in Titanfall or Forza.

Probably because, according to AMC, the show isn't making any profit. It is actually losing money.

I don't believe it, but that is what AMC was saying when they had that lawsuit against them a few months ago.

Yeah, amc also cuts corners to save money and have been doing so since the first season.
More insight on the shit they pull:

Wow. Did it really get that bad? I tuned out after S3 because I lost my viewing buddy and didn't have the heart to keep watching without her. If them losing money is true.. that's a shame, but it's not like I have a Nielsen box to do anything about it.

It's become extremely repetitive because they've never figured out anything for the characters to do except have looong conversations and then get attacked by zombies. And the conversations are a problem because they've failed to establish most of the characters as likable or interesting (Daryl is interesting, Carol is interesting, Rick is kind of interesting, but then you've got people like Sasha and Beth who are pretty much blank slates despite being on the show for years).

Plus it's fallen into a pattern where the show spins its wheels for five episodes, blows half the budget on an action-packed mid-season finale, spins its wheels for another five episodes, and blows the rest of the budget on an action-packed season finale.

Also, this may just be a personal pet peeve, but it's become absolutely ridiculous how the characters can arrive at a place that seems completely quiet and empty, and then suddenly get surprised by dozens of zombies coming from nowhere. It was scary and cool the first time it happened, but now it happens twice in every episode.

Yeah, I've read about AMC's money-grubbing ways back when Frank Darabont first got booted, but I haven't really checked up on a lot of the stuff that has come out since then (interesting video, rip44). I don't see how they could be losing money on the show since  the viewership keeps growing, but who knows.

Ryuukishi hit on a lot of the problems. The vast majority of the episodes are meandering and the only time it approaches being good is when it rips off a moment from the comics (in a mostly unsatisfying way). The biggest problem for me is the writing has been across the board terrible this season. Like really bad. Not to mention characters making stupid decisions pretty much non stop.

"Hi, I am a high-ranking government scientist, and I alone understand what caused this zombie outbreak, and hold the key to stopping it. Sorry, I can't give you any proof of my identity or credentials because that's classified. I also can't share any useful or interesting information about the plague because that's classified. I can't say what I was doing in rural Georgia because that's classified. And don't mind my mullet, all high-ranking government scientists have awesome mullets."

"Sounds legit! Let's lay down our lives for this man!"

Very few projects in Hollywood are "profitable." Check out the source link for the Harry Potter movie that "lost" money, which has a leaked financial statement showing a breakdown of revenues and costs. Warner charged itself a couple hundred million to distribute the movie, thus helping ensure it stayed in the red. Frank Darabont claimed AMC did something similar to hide profits on the series. Given how long he's been around Hollywood, I think it's odd that he'd sign any kind of contract offering him a part of the profit and not the gross, though the video Rip44 linked to implied that people were willing to take less money to work on the series / with Frank / with each other.

It's been said the most creative people in the movie and TV business aren't the people making the content, but the accountants.

A lot of people are OK with that because it's pretty much straight out of the comic. Of course, the show added a twist that should have been brought up and at least gotten explained by now, even if it led to more of the same from that character. [customspoiler=Spoiler]The stop at the CDC didn't happen in the comics.[/customspoiler]

Walking Dead does give me the benefit though of finally being "that guy" in saying "The book is better."
And its not even close.

I said from the start the damn show should have been on HBO. That's the only way it could have matched the comics intensity. AMC isn't doing the brilliance of TWD any justice.

Couldn't have said it better myself. The network did a show on SPAWN for god's sake (and it was pretty good too), TWD would have been easy.

Haha I echo you guys soooo hard on that. I literally said oh well they had a good run when I read that the show-runner of that show "left" the show.

Ehhh, I think only way Walking Dead could've ever been done is if HBO just made the trade paperback volumes each into movies and wait 6 months to a year before doing the next one. That ways it could be going at a brisk pace with little slowdown and no worries of catching up. Otherwise, as a series based on an ongoing comic that has a tight formula and continuity? No fucking way it would work as a weekly series,

They could've done it on HBO with around 15 episode seasons and got rid of all the bullshit filler that amc forces in it to be more dramatic.

Another day, another greedy thing to be mad about. Never ends, does it?

The Walking Dead is indeed superslow lately, but I can't really hate it - granted, I did not read the graphic novel prior to the show, and to avoid spoilers of any kind, I am holding off intentionally until the show's done (or when I'll be done with it). It's hard not to point out, however, how the action seems to be decreasing, which can make for more character knowing and bonding and stuff, but as a matter of fact we just knew something about Daryl, who's been there for pretty much the whole show. There's the drama, the romance, and I wouldn't say it's a bad show as it's still one of my favourite things on TV (and I watch A LOT of shows), but it's a series that changed. Seeing all these budged cut talks, I say it makes sense - lately, mid-season or season finales aside, what we get is people walking in the forest and talking. Ultra-cheap, especially if everyone involed is underpaid. I don't buy the crap about their losses, the show can't be more expensive than most big shows nowadays, and TWD is breaking records year after year, broadcasted in just about every country, has multiple videogames (one actually based on the show, even, so that's AMC's money right there), all kinds of merchandising and stuff... I don't believe it's not making a profit, if TWD doesn't make a profit, no show does. Those ideas mentioned by Sam Witwer (who I really like for his performance in Being Human) sound awesome, and while I enjoy the show, it makes my heart ache a bit that in order to save money they're not going to do any of those. It's a pretty sad situation, but at least for me, the show is enjoyable, just need to "forget" what it was and what it could have been.

I picked up LocoCycle from the web store when it dropped back in January, or whenever that was, so it's been there for a bit. The disappointing thing is that I don't think there's a way to queue downloads from the website, so I had to start the Xbox One, find the game on its store, and start the download from there.

So, all this talk about buying through xbox.com, Crossbuy and whatnot...

Can anyone please confirm me if Crossbuy works for someone who does not own an Xbox One? I own Call Of Duty Ghosts on X360, and there's the deal of getting on X1 as well for 10$, I think it's up until May or something. I'd gladly spend 10$ on it just to have another X1 game when I'll finally get the console, but is this even possible to do right now? I'm a CAG, not gonna spend 10 bucks if I'm not sure about what I'm doing :p
