This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Shit sucks but this can happen with any business you make purchases with using a card. Its not like it was MS's fault. They have security measures in place to minimize shit like this from happening. Some scumbag hackers are just that good, though.
That's not his point at all. He's saying it's stupid that you need a credit card at all for even a free purchase. It didn't used to be that way under the points system.

With Dust being on sale so many times lately, I can understand why some CAG's might be annoyed with it being GWG.  But I haven't played it or Saints Row 3, so these are fine with me.  Still, with the high quality stuff happening on PSN, I think SRIV would have been a bigger statement on Microsofts part.

How is it not Microsoft's fault when they know for years that people are having access to their accounts compromised by the same techniques and exploitation of their own security checks? Not days or weeks, years. Kotaku published this in 2012 and I had first heard of it at least three or four years before this (and happened to me in 2010 or maybe 2011 if I remember right): http://kotaku.com/5913228/report-how-scammers-are-stealing-xbox-live-accounts-and-what-they-do-with-them I don't think that article even mentions that you could basically endlessly brute force the Xbox.com login to get valid account emails when this was at it's peak. Of course that kind of thing can happen anywhere but it doesn't excuse it, especially when it was an ongoing problem that MS largely turned a blind eye towards.

Not to mention that Sony lets me purchase free things from their web store without having any card associated with my account.

For anyone who has played Dust did you have any problems with it crashing and going back to the dashboard? I bought the game awhile ago and just decided to start playing. Once I got to the second chest in the game I tried opening it and it was like I wasn't pressing the input buttons correctly then it would crash. I finally got it to go through after a few tries, just wondering if it has happened to anyone else.

I never ran into that glitch, though I did have a point where my save got corrupted so I could no longer progress (reloading an earlier save fixed it, so be sure to keep multiple files).

I Beat Dust a few weeks ago. No problems besides being able to find one of the cannon's for the damn achievement at the end.

After all the talk in here earlier about Garden Warfare, I'm thinking about getting it. Anyone know how populated things are on the 360 side? I don't want to spend the money on it if it's going to be rough finding games.

There are so many games in the backlog it's insane. Do I wanna be a Jet Li badass in this game? How about a cybernetic gigilo assassin? Or a gang leader who is now the President of the United States with awesome weapons at my disposal? Or a Don of the mafia who harbours this evil inside which can rip just about anything to shreds with it's tentacles?

Yeah, just too much to choose from. I'm going back to Viva Pinata now.........
You should definitely play those games first because Sleeping Dogs absolutely shits all over them. You're just not going to want to play those games after finishing SD because you know you'll just be disappointed.

Just to let you know, Killer Is Dead is not that great but it does ooze style. You should also probably hold off on Saints Row IV until you finish III, courtesy of GwG. The Darkness II is great but don't forget to play online multiplayer - it's easy to overlook but it's ridiculously fun and more importantly, it's a side story that adds to the plot. It's really well done.

The game does not feature an in-game counter, but I rarely run into the same people (that I remember, of course), and any time I play I run into full or almost full servers. There doesn't seem to be a lack of players, albeit it's hard to quantify.

its pretty popular i think just as much as the xbox one is

never had a problem finding a game packed with people just get use to the 12 year olds on the mic

other then that its smoove sailing

I'd like to see a sale on stuff that has never been on sale (yeah I know you hear that a lot on here)

I'd totally buy Bankshot Billards if it was $1-$2

I would like to see a sale on Rush'n Attack Ex Patriot and Half-Minute Hero: Super Mega Neo Climax
These are two games that have been on my wish list forever and I don't think they have ever been on sale.

So I got to the first treasure chest in Dust and it sent me to the dashboard lol. I had just hit skip during the dialogue part and then the black screen popped up and I'm looking at my arcade games.

You know, come to think of it when I played through about a year ago, had the same thing happen to me a couple of times during playthrough. Was pretty fun though so I stuck it out. Those awful VO and cartoons though, blech!

Maybe try the Wii Shop Channel on your Wii console. Where every sale... is a dust sale.

YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH
I see that you're trying to be funny, but you sound a tad ignorant. 40% of the VC games have gone on sale so I can keep the CAG mentality and wait for games like Link to the Past and Golden Sun to go on sale. It'll happen. Just gotta be patient.....I do want there to be more sales but it's always a balancing act by these companies to keep the hardcore, the ones in the middle and the ones who play every once in a while happy

I might as well pile on the misery that is Dust....I was playing and the system froze and then when I returned it had also wiped my save.  :)  Haven't touched it since.  Too bad as it was entertaining.  I just didn't feel like replaying it with my collection of other games needing to be completed...

Nothing on sale with Dust? :/

Dust-inator is definitely cheap :D

I kept on reading how Deadlight has a pretty amazing Act 1, then the game becomes a load of BS. I played through Act 1, and thought: wait, this is what's going to be going on for the whole game, right? This is pretty good! Wrong. The game's very sluggish platforming along with some totally cheap level design, sometimes with barely visible objectives and broken checkpoints kick in hard. Also you lose your weapons for like 8 levels, which are a series of pretty dumb mazes of cheap traps. I thought this was supposed to be a zombie survival game. I'll force myself to finish it (I'm at the 10th or so scene of Act 2 right now), but man, one of the worst quality drops in a game that I can think of. First act was truly fun and rather brilliant overall, but just about anything after that is annoying. The easy achievements will likely motivate me to finish it.

Dude, the entire game becomes a death-fest once you enter The Rats maze. Thank god that game was only 4ish hours, I was getting sick of dying every 5 minutes.

Played the crap out of that game because it was the only pool game on the market but yeah I got that other, Pool Nation, one for $1 and it's way better. Trickshots and you know the ball not always scratching on you.

Exactly. Between the sluggish platforming mechanics (the jumping is beyond unprecise) and the trial-and-error level design (you usually don't really have a way to know there's a trap until you die from it once), along with checkpoints that become pretty rare and often have you redoing a fairly lenghty part. If only the whole game was like Act 1, the maze part is bollocks.

Dust is an amazing game (for those that haven't played). I was esp. very impressed with all the voice acting and the interaction between Dust and Fidget was awesome. Some of the best quotes you'd wanna use are in this game. XD

I completed Act 1 today and deleted the game lol.

If you didn't really like Act 1 either, Act 2 would have made you burn the console altogether, lol. I kinda think that the positive reviews it got were from people who didn't reach Act 2, kinda how the the raving reviews for Alan Wake's American Nightmare likely didn't get to the part where they would find out the second half of the game is nothing but a lazy rehash of the first 2 hours. The prospect of an easy-ish 400G is enough for me to continue, but gosh, I set myself the objective to finish Act 2 in one sitting but I could just not take anymore of the traps and the usuall clichè'd helicopter part.

Played Deadlight, you're not being fair with the game... it's total and utter bullcrap with a thick coat of shit. Well that is considering the original price and the relative hype it got. I felt the Act I syndrome too. Just entered the Rat's maze and i stopped playing it. I mean i've played both Dark Souls to no end, so i have no problems with dying a lot but this game is ridiculous there is no reward feeling is just a chore. I don't think i'll ever finish it not even for the easy cheevos. Just my 2 cents as they say.

Dudes, I didn't notice so much that downgrade in acts 2 and 3, if you like the first one I don't see why you wouldn't like the rest. Granted, the second act is more platform oriented, but it's not difficult by any means (though I also died a few times).

It's not a great game, but it can be completed in about 4 hours and achievement-wise in 5 hours max. At least it's not long. But yeah, if you don't find any fun in playing it, you're better giving your time to another game. In the end, the only thing we have is time, and it's limited.

I Had more fun playing Deadlight than I did Limbo and I died alot less. Yet Limbo gets all this praise for I don't know what. Something involving my dead sister or some other bullshit.

I enjoyed Limbo. It was a great game. It doesnt deserve AS MUCH praise, but it was good. Kinda dislike the "interpretive" ending though.

Just a quick reminder that burger time gets pulled at the end of the month. I may bite on it for 50% off
Annnnnnd ... it's gone.

Regarding the overused "May 4th" stuff ... it's funny that Xbox is happy to sell you overpriced GonD's, but they're not participating with Zen Studios on discounting any of the "Pinball FX2" tables. Oh well, be sure to grab SWP for FREE! on iOS this weekend, and let Zen know you like what they're doing! http://blog.zenstudios.com/?p=4525

I think it's okay they're not discounting the tables.. considering they just discounted them 2 weeks ago. :p

To be fair though, all the FX2 tables were on sale just 2 weeks ago.

So I got to the first treasure chest in Dust and it sent me to the dashboard lol. I had just hit skip during the dialogue part and then the black screen popped up and I'm looking at my arcade games.
Pretty much all of the chests have done that to me, very few of them work the way that they are supposed to.
