Apparently Sega is thinking the same thing.
My freshman and sophomore years of college are filled with fond memories of playing the first two Shenmue games. Absolutely loved them, would play HD remakes, and would drop $60 for a third installment (assuming reviews are decent).
It's possible that the lawyers discovered a contract or licensing issue from the original release that's holding it up. It would either have to be complicated, involve someone really stubborn, or be really expensive to solve for it to take a year.
I remember reading an article about Shenmue being locked up in a big legal mess. It wasn't in regards to Shenmu HD tho, it was in regards to a sequel and it was a few years back. That said, if it was locked up in legal battles back then, it could very well have something to do with current issues.

As for Xbox Live, what in gods name is happening with the sales? One game this week with 2 avatar items? In all honesty, I cant remember the last sale that I saw that was really impressive. Xbox Live is now loaded to the gills with games, its got to be well over 400 games at this point, and the best they can do is one game? Of course this was preceded by that lame Lego sale last week. Whoever is in charge of sales over these is really dropping the ball. I think its time to write an email to MS's gaming dept.
A couple more sales/drops and one is gold exclusive:

Prototype is the games for windows version.
Thanks for the heads up about NBA 2k12. Might have to get it since I missed it the first time.

Golden Axe and Streets of Rage Sega Vintage Collections coming to XBLA - with screens!

I just got NBA 2K12 a couple of weeks ago, so I'm interested in the DLC. What's this I hear about it breaking achievements or whatever?
Nice! Considering my pal 4 states away and I bought SoR 2 on XBLA years ago just to play online together, we'll jump on at least one of these for sure. (I'm pusing for Golden Axe this time around). Thanks for sharing!
I bought Golden Axe on XBLA last year for 200 points, considering how I love the game and it's been a while since I played the more difficult Arcade version, I picked it up.

It is slightly irritating that they are once again releasing the Arcade version in this collection considering how I already have it and would like to play the Duel mode and extra level in the Genesis version, but I have never played the third game so hopefully the price is right on this. New achievements will be nice as well. I'm guessing it will release for 800 points, they might try and push 1200.

Streets of Rage vintage is great news, the more beat 'em ups the better, old and new.

I read the DLC makes it that you're unable to acquire "The Whole Shebang" achievement(complete every achievement in NBA 2K12).So unless you absolutely need every achievement, you should be fine

Extremely disappointed the Golden Axe collection isn't going to include the arcade's sequel Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder, despite including the first arcade in place of the first Genesis game. If they'd included that one, I would've bought it in spite of already having all the other games via the Sonic Genesis Collection.

I know I missed out on the EA sale in January but does anyone have an idea for when I can expect another sale on dlc for mass effect and dragon age because I want to play through both franchises from start to finish this summer.

No way of knowing man. 99% of the speculation here (including my own) comes back fruitless.

That's right, major disappointment. I wonder why they didn't include it. The first game is very short as it is.

Didn't see it mentioned but it looks like MW3 was released as a GoD and has an intro price at $40. DECENT, but not outstanding, price seeing as how they usually keep shooters at $60 forever. I'm gonna splurge and just sell the disc. Been getting really lazy about swapping discs.

$40 is just the promo price for the first week or so. Then it will hop back up to $60.

Not to get too OT, but speaking of GoD, when did the option of paying with points go away for SSIV Arcade? I was finally gonna break and get it and now it only takes $.

It still comes up on the 360 with that option for me at least.

On xbox.com: Underneath the price near the top right of the box that pops up when you try to buy should be text that says, "Use Microsoft Points." Click that to switch.

On the console: there should be text that says you can switch by hitting x (or maybe some other button). It's possible that it doesn't show if you don't have enough points.

If you go to the payment screen, you can hit X or Y and it'll charge MS points.

Hell, on my dashboard the other day it was asking me to spend points and didn't even list cash prices (DR2, MW3, etc)

Say what?!?! I just spent $40 when I could've used points?! I have thousands and thousands of points from numerous sales. Marone. Shame on me. Thought it was only an option on a very limited number of games. I'll go back and check on SSIV arcade.

I picked up the Toy Soldiers "Napalm" pack.

Beat the first two campaign missions. There was some major slowdown in the first one, but it's still fun. Maybe I just had too many level 3 mortars on the screen for the game to handle? Not sure how long this campaign is, but I'm on the third mission right now. Enjoying it.
No way of knowing man. 99% of the speculation here (including my own) comes back fruitless.
Probably going to be awhile I'm afraid. There were a TON of sales last year and I don't see EA doing it again for a long while, given the bad reception ME 3 got, ME 1 (not EA but MS) disappearing from retail causing prices to go up (GS charges $30 used now), and Dragon Age 2 not doing as well as Origins.

I would think the DA series DLC will go on sale before the ME series DLC just b/c only 1 of the 2 DA 2 story DLC's have been on sale and a new DA game will be coming sooner than a new ME game. EA wants you to buy/download free ME 3 DLC to keep that disc out of Gamestop's hands rather than having a sale on ME 2 DLC.
Apparently Sega is thinking the same thing.
Sega's dead to me until I hear about Valkyria Chronicles 3 in the West (FYI it came out in Japan a little over a year ago.)
So why limit it to 2-player co-op when the games have 3 characters? Even the SUGC versions had 3-player local co-op.
Golden Axe 1-3 are 2-player games.

My guess is probably just 3 missions in each dlc pack. But let me know for sure when u finish it up.

I keep checking xbox.com and my 360 to see if Walking Dead goes up early, lol. I cannot wait to try this game out.

The whole achievement thing for The Walking Dead is messed up on Xbox 360. The first episode offers 100 points and I'd guess that the rest of the episodes will offer another 100 points as DLC, which makes it seem like Microsoft was driven crazy by Pinball FX2. As a comparison, the full season of The Walking Dead offers a platinum trophy on PSN, which is the equivalent of 1000 points on Xbox Live.

Telltale said that the achievements are bland because they had to submit them in advance. Expect them to be simple "complete part 1 of episode 1, part 2, part 3, etc." Since the story supervisor has said he hasn't written episode 4 yet, or at least hand't as of a week or two ago, you could understand why that might make it difficult to do them properly.

I'm guessing that with the max gamerscore doubling to 400 gs, the XBLA DLC achievement cap went from 50 to 100. Since subsequent episodes are being done as DLC that could mean 500 total with 400 already set in the first episode download, even if only the first 100 are achievable right now. Of course even that seems like it'd require special consideration with Microsoft's rules.

They're all named, so they have a pretty good idea what's going on for the entire season.

I did say the rest of the episodes would offer 100 points each, which is 500 according to my math. I'm guessing that their desire to avoid the MS certification system is the big problem since they can't afford to mess with inevitable delays, so maybe they could've gone the Games on Demand route to offer something of a full season subscription for $20 to simplify things.

Yep, turns out there are 3 campaign missions in the "Napalm" pack. The final mission has a very anti-climactic and unchallenging boss fight.

My point about the 500 gs was just that they aren't doing anything crazy with achievements as it will be a standard XBLA game number. And as far as complexity of the achievement they have probably had an outline for the season for awhile with all of the major story beats, but you won't see anything like "find a way to avoid confrontation with the roller skate zombie in episode 3" or "get from point a to point b in less than 3 minutes."

And yes, they've said episodes 2-5 were DLC because that's an easier certification route and because they don't need to be assigned a release slot among all of the other games coming out. Games on Demand would make sense, but maybe Microsoft wouldn't let them sell one of those piecemeal. There's probably also some marketing guy at Microsoft scratching his head and still trying to figure out how to advertise Games on Demand. I still like someone else's idea of offering up episodes 2-5 as a season pass for 1200 msp to compete with PSN's $20 deal.

I can see the entire achievement list in front of me. There's eight for each episode with an achievement for completing each of the seven chapters and one for finishing them all, though it's kind of redundant to reward you for competing the last chapter and the entire episode unless you can somehow play them out of order like a mad man.

They don't even need to advertise it as a Games on Demand game, as they can just call it an XBLA game because nobody really cares about the difference as long as they get all of the episodes in a reasonable timeframe.

As someone who has 5 strongbad games taking up space in my psn library, having all 5 walking dead episodes launched through 1 game is a really good idea.

Sorry for the newb question, I haven't purchased a lot from Xbox Live. I just found the whole games like Crysis and Grand Theft Auto only have the Credit card or Paypal option (Dollar Amount) to purchase. But the DLC have the MS Points option. Can I use the MS points to buy the whole game like Crysis? Thanks a lot.

Press X for points.

Flip back a couple pages. Someone just asked this again (again) recently. (hit the X button at checkout)

EDIT: I've seen posts saying it's X or Y. Just did the leg work and confirmed it is X at checkout.

Thank you so much.

"how do I pay for GoD with points?" is to the XBLA thread as "after my ps+ expires do i lose my free games?" is to the PSN thread.

No offense to you foreinter, but i cannot believe how many times this question has been asked.

Played through Walking Dead Episode 1 last night on PS3. Earlier comments about it being faithful to the source material are accurate. It is about characters and their stories. If you are a fan of the books (like me) I can't see you not liking it. Even though I don't usually like adventure games, I found it to be quite enjoyable.

The trophies on the PS3 are exactly as Tanuki described the achievements, 1 per chapter plus 1 for the whole episode, 8 total for each episode. I actually like the decision though as it allows the decision making to be natural and not influenced by going after a trophy/achievement. In a game where character choice is the keystone this is important.

wEEman: Thanks for the lowdown on TS:CW DLC. That is disappointing as I enjoyed the game but not unexpected as I also found it to be a very quick playthrough.

Reading the thread is difficult. Much easier to pop in and ask the same damn question (or incorrectly complain about not being able to use points) for the 1011th time.

That sucks about Walking Dead's GamerScore. $25 to get a max of 500 Points is a bit disappointing considering that $5 games can now include 400 GamerScore.

I understand why they did it but I'm rather annoyed with the pricing of it being 25 dollars over 20.... Even steam users have to play 25 dollars too so I'm, not sure why the PS3 got special love...

The silly thing is I shouldn't be worried or at all bothered as the last set of MS points I bought were 30% off (35 for 4000 points) so its still cheaper on the 360 than it would be on the PS3. (But I remain annoyed and I'm tempted to wait for a sale now.)

That said I played the demo. Really enjoyed it for what it is. (Adventure games are not high on my list of things I love.)

Anyone know the "run time" on episode 1 by chance?

Well i don't care about amount of points. The thing i didn't like about Walking Dead achievements is - the are exactly the same - ''complete x chapter/episode''. Would be a bit more interesting to have at least few that required to make different choices through the game, but oh well. Enjoyed first episode and will buy all of them. Liked the characters, story, art style and pretty much everything. 400MSP for 3hrs was ok. Most of the developers charge 800MSP for shitty 2hrs dlc's nowadays.
I've heard 2 hours.
Took me a good 3hrs.

One more note about the "Napalm" maps:

There is MAJOR slowdown anytime you use the tank-mounted flame thrower. Like it almost brings the game to a halt. I thought it might crash or freeze the game was running so slow. This is like Goldeneye in a room with the maximum amount of remote mines going off slowdown.

The new minigame is basically a 3D version of Choplifter. Kind of cool.

Still need to try the new versus map.

Reddjoey, would you be so kind as to add that question to the FAQ in post #3?
I know I missed out on the EA sale in January but does anyone have an idea for when I can expect another sale on dlc for mass effect and dragon age because I want to play through both franchises from start to finish this summer.
In all honesty, if your talking the first Dragon Age, sell your copy and buy the Ultimate Edition on sale. It will save you money. That's what I did, sold my copy on eBay for 12.00 and then purchased the UE for less than 20 on sale. So I wound up getting all the DLC on disc, which is vastly preferable, for roughly 7-8 bucks.

As for Walking Dead, I found it disappointing, just like Telltale's last couple of games. I love adventure games and own almost every decent one ever made. In fact, its easily my single favorite genre of games. Its what I grew up playing. Zak McKracken, Maniac Mansion, Day of he Tentacle, Kings Quest, Police Quest, Monkey Island, Sam and Max, The Longest Journey, and on and on and on. This new style game that Telltale is making has FAR more in common with movies than it does adventure games and its just not my cup of tea. I will just have to wait for Tim Schafer's Double Fine adventure to get my old school adventure game fix. This was my last Telltale purchase, short of them doing an about face and going back to making the kind of games they used to make. Fat chance of that happening tho as they are obviously after a much bigger slice of the gaming pie and old school adventure games are a niche market.

Walking dead took me 2 hours 40 minutes for first play through. I got stuck on a couple spots for like 5-10 minutes because I didn't have hints on and didn't know what to do. 2nd play through took a little over 90 minutes since I knew what exactly to do because a friend wanted to watch me play it to see the story. I bought it on ps3 since it came out first and was a bit cheaper for the season.. mainly because it came out first though. I would have got it on xbox if it released the same day.
I would recommend for anyone who is the fan of the show or the comics to at least try the first one.
