What a poop-shoot.

Perhaps next week, we'll actually get something worthwhile.

I may bite on the SoA this year. Depends on how the demos feel for Deadlight, Dust, and Hybrid. Tony Hawk is a definite for sure. I would say it also depends on the price points, but I'm willing to bet anything they'll all be 1200 points.

As for sales, might have to try the demo for Boulder Dash since everybody keeps talking about it. Otherwise a pass for me. One thing I was thinking of...they haven't done a DLC sale yet for Dragon Age II, have they? Probably one game you would think would get one at some point.

They did in first week of January. Only one that wasn't on sale was the one with Felicia Day if I remember right.

[quote name='sicsonic']Yeah Hybrid was a real dumb choice for SoA. Wreckateer looks like a crappy version of Boom Blox for the Wii, and while Tony Hawk looks ok, remakes should not be a part of SoA. Bad form, m$. What a way to start the beginning of the end of the promotion. If there is a SoA next year, I'll guarantee it'll be the last.[/QUOTE]
Yeah, what was MS thinking publishing a game that core games are having fun with on Kinect?
IGN: Wreckateer Does Kinect Right

[quote name='airco']Since when has IGN's opinion ever been anything more than advertising for whoever buys them off?[/QUOTE]

I was thinking this exact same thing when I read that guy's post. But hey, look at his avatar. ;)

I wasn't impressed with Wreckateer from that tiny demo, and I barely watched the other two vague trailers that came after. Meh, we'll see how good these "awsum" games are when they actually get released.

[quote name='GUNNM']Borderlands DLC has to be selling well for it to go on sale every 3-4 months[/QUOTE]

but if it is selling well then why would they do a sale on it?

anybody that has seen the Hybrid clip in that summer of arcade video think it sort of reminds you of nexuiz. they had that in the last promotion and they put a game that looks simililar in this one.

[quote name='airco']It's hardly surprising for Microsoft to fail at everything they do. But hey, at least SoA has more games than the entire MS conference.[/QUOTE]

Pbbbft... It's hardly surprising to see this opinion from people who are only consumers of technology and know nothing about it as an industry.

Tony Hawk is the SoA game that I will most likely get for sure, the others I will try the demo....except for Hybrid, there's probably no way I'll end up buying that one after the beta.

[quote name='basis']is Sega Bass Fishing the same as the one in the Dreamcast collection retail disc?[/QUOTE]Yes, it's the same one that comes with Sonic Adventure, Space Channel 5 Part 2, & Crazy Taxi.

Speaking of which, wasn't Sonic Adventure 2 avatar stuff suppose to be out today?

Thanks.

Borderlands sale again. Wow. I would guess this dlc has been on sale more than any other dlc/game? The only one I keep passing on is new revolution. Looks like boulderdash is something I will look into.

Someone being a Negative Nancy? :) You hold the opinion MS fails at everything, yet you are here in the xbox thread.

[quote name='Decker']New Revolution is by far the best of the Borderlands DLC, FWIW.[/QUOTE]
Perhaps I will pick it up then this time. I didn't pick it up on the last sale because I figured it would be on sale again. :) Give me a reason to pick up borderlands again too. Thanks.

I tried the Boulder Dash demo last night and I wasn't impressed. Despite MS points burning a hole in my pocket I'm going to hold off.

[quote name='ShinSolidus']Think I'll pass on the sale this week and go after that Streets of Rage collection. Although I am tempted to get Boulder Dash...[/QUOTE]

I played Streets of Rage off the Sonic UGC Last night. Man has this game aged or what? I don't remember it being so crappy and.....sloooow! That goes double for Golden Axe.

[quote name='yamayama']A lot of stuff doesn't get updated... Just saying.

I usually just watch the latest posts in the thread now.

[/QUOTE]

It's a combination of moving, summer classes, and a new job. It's hard finding that balance where everyone is happy with the amount of attention I can give them.

That said, the OP will be updated when I get out of class at 2pm. I have to be at work at 4, so I think I have enough time to make it look nice.

Golden Axe and Streets of Rage exist in a special hyperbaric chamber within my heart. No amount of time could age those games to me.

That's how I am with Streets of Rage. Played 2 when it was released on XBLA, and have never played 3. I'm a fan of side scrolling beat 'em ups though. think I may grab the demo first and see how I feel about paying for 2 a second time and seeing how 3 feels.

Unfortunately, Streets of Rage and Golden Axe on that compilation were converted by Backbone, which is infamous for its lazy and sloppy ports.

This is a short technical video that demonstrates the horrible input lag that, among other smaller problems, plagues their releases of older classics on newer systems (in that case, it is tested with Street Fighter 2 Turbo on Capcom Classic Collection 2): NKI Testing Input Lag street fighter 2 turbo - arcade, dreamcast, ps1, CCC2

You should definitely try SoR and GA in their recent Vintage Collection incarnations, they'll feel like completely different games :bouncy:

Wow, unannounced Games on Demand sales are okay in my book, even if I'm not going to buy any. I just like the idea of this type of game going on sale more and more. I'm not sure if they're all sales or some price drops mixed in. I doubt they're all drops with 1200 msp prices, but that'd be nice. And smart.

Conan - 1600 > 1200 msp
Stuntman Ignition - 1600 > 1200 msp
The Outfit - 1600 > 1200 msp
MX vs. ATV: Untamed - 1600 > 1200 msp
Transformers: WFC - 3200 > 2400 msp
Fallout New Vegas - 3200 > 1600 msp
Saints Row: The Third - 4800 > 4000
Need for Speed: The Run - 3200 > 2400 msp
de Blob 2 - 1600 > 1200 msp
The Biggest Loser: Ultimate Workout - 2400 > 1600 msp
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit - 2400 > 1600 msp
Oblivion - 2400 > 1600 msp
Fallout 3 - 2400 > 1600 msp

edit: more added. they weren't all in my rss feed for some reason. I might pick up de Blob 2.

I'm actually somewhat tempted by Stuntman because I rented it and had a great time when it was released. I don't know if it holds up though.

Agreed, louie. Big long RPGs like Fallout and Borderlands are some of the few full games I would ever buy from the service. You get tons of value out of them and it's nice to have them right in the hard drive to pick up a quest or two in passing.

It would be great if xbl gold stepped up the discounts and added free games to better compete with what ps+ has started offering.

Zombie Island was my favorite, then New Revolution. New Revolution is definitely fun though, and worth 400msp.

Everyone loved the Knoxx DLC, but there was way to much traveling in that one for my liking.

They've got to be all price drops. I still don't see one on there at even close to competitive prices compared to retail discs.

Not to start anything here, but PS+ makes XBL Gold and DotW look like a joke.

It'd be the first time a GoD game priced at 1200msp/$15 permanently. That's the only reason I think it could be a sale.

Whoa, nice find dide! Just bought De Blob 2 from Hungarian marketplace for only 640MSP. What a bargain! For some reason most of the GoD prices there are even cheaper, but it has region locked ones. :0

Seems possible, but if I had to bet on it, I'd say they're just price drops.

Now that's a pretty good price (although the cost of points there may make it not so great, I don't know). I'm am firmly against buying full games digitally and don't think I ever will change until it's forced upon me, but De Blob for 640msp is a good price.

Well, credit for the find goes to xbldb. I'd use the Hungarian store but I'm pretty set about keeping everything on my account.

I wonder why they're cheaper there. I understand region specific sales, but not prices. I thought that part of the reason that Microsoft uses the points system was so that they can have one price in all regions and then just charge appropriately for the points in those regions depending on the various exchange rates and economies.

I like PSone classics, but I found myself never having the urge to play them, so I'm glad they're dropping those and minis for games that I'll more than likely play.

LOL my bad. Had this and the PSN Weekly Deals thread open in separate tabs.

Just 2 levels into De Blob 2 right now, have to say it's a very cheerful game.

Not hard (yet, 2 levels in), some interesting ideas, wonky camera, high quality cut-scenes
But very cheerful if you like seeing bright colors.

louiedog by rss feed did you mean the xbldb rss feed? I've noticed twitter has not been getting all updates and now rss. :(

I use feedburner so not sure what is going on. I may have to go directly to twitter to get everything.

Also I made a handy dandy sharing widget on the offer highlights page:
http://xbldb.com/offer-highlights

I need to add it to the price drop page. Just click "show shareable summary". I provide bb code and html code. It includes xbox and xbldb links in the format reddjoey uses in the OP.

Everyone should feel free to share the finds on xbldb but please include a link to xbldb.

Thanks

Does anyone know if you need to have the disc for Red Dead Redemption to play the Undead Nightmares pack that is on sale for 800 points? I don't have RDR but I want to buy the expansion if I can play it as a standalone game. Thanks!

Yes, your RSS feed is the one I was talking about. Most of the deal of the week stuff was missing as well. It's extremely handy to wake up on Tuesday and click that when I'm catching up on news in the morning. This is the first time I noticed it being flaky.

Also thanks for pointing out the sharing widget location. I knew you'd added that but for some reason couldn't remember where to find it when I posted.

You do need the disc for the DLC. There's a separate Undead Nightmare disc release that doesn't require the original game.
