so the rumor about deals coming back that you missed wasnt true?
A CAG misread the missed deals thing as upcoming DotW so it ain't happening.

I've only played Splosion Man, but I thought co-op was more frustrating than single player many times just because the timing is harder due to the lag. Countdown helps a lot, but there were still some sections that you just had to get lucky with the timing and hope you compensated accordingly with the lag.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that if he was frustrated with single player, he'll probably be just as frustrated (or even moreso) with co-op when you figure in the lag. Apparently it was way worse before they patched it, but it still lags bad enough to screw up the precise jumps.
Was there any word on next weeks DotW? Usually they announce two weeks out.
Nothing on Major Nelson's blog, nor on Twitter. But we should be OK with them breaking routine for Christmas.
You're thinking of Wreckateer. Wrecked is some sort of vehicular something-or-other game. Yep, I know that little about it. Racing? Vehicular destruction? Both?
Wreckateer is like a 3D version of Angry Birds.

It isn't anything to fix. They've made a decision not to allow chat for the game in order to stop cheating and to invoke certain strategic play styles. Basically a developer choice and won't be changed or fixed.

What do you guys think of R.A.W.?

I've got 500 points left in my account, so I've been watching the sales on the 360, and just checked the front page here, and there's really absolutely nothing grabbing my attention other than perhaps R.A.W.

I considered Splosion Man, but really not a fan of platformers/co-op games. Not a fan of the Walking Dead game either. While I do like dungeon crawlers/loot fests.

R.A.W. worth 400 points?
Whatever happened to that free Halo 4 Crimson map free trial or whatever? I downloaded it but never had a chance to play it.
Some people started getting banned, but I'm not sure what happened after.

Better wait for dungeon fighter live then.

OK, so just checked out a video of Dungeon Fighter Live, and sadly don't think that'll float my boat. Don't care for the look of it at all. Can't stand anime type stuff, and it's a sidescroller to boot, so those two thing kill it right there.

Is taking a $5 chance on a game with mediocre reviews in a genre you like worth it to you? How do you feel about a Diablo-esque Dungeon crawler which fans call old school but critics call dated and antiquated? Can you live with no online coop?

I haven't played through all of it, but I like this type of game too and I was really digging the art style so for 5 bucks I pulled the trigger with ease. I can't say whether it was worth it or not since I haven't played through the whole thing, but hey, it's Christmas, so I figured why not.

$5 is a lot to me at the moment (we're so broke we, my family, couldn't exchange Christmas presents this year). But I've had the 500 points sitting on my account for about six months, and since it's an odd amount and full games, games I'd actually want to play, are rarely ever 400 points I was hoping the reviewers were wrong and it was a decent game after all.

Did try the demo and didn't hate it, but can't be sure from one partial level. Can def live without any type of co-op, no one else I know IRL plays video games.
Loved my brief time with the demo when it came out... anyone know how the community has held up?
Pretty much all arcade only shooters are dead.

I havent played all of it but I think the trial pretty much covers it, I think you could safely make your choice from the trial whether you'd want to buy it or not, so id let the trial help you make the decision.

Not counter-strike though, c-s has got a great community and people still play GO online.

The room was fairly full when I tried the demo out a few hours ago... Though, when I died their was a couple of chances to take over a bot.

Anyhow, I played about half the allotted 45 minute demo time, the demo gives you full access, and came away feeling really indifferent about it. (Which, is actually pretty good considering how bad it started. Joined a quick match in progress and had to watch about 7 minutes of people just walking around looking for one person to kill... (It was one of them one spawn per a person game types) Then it was quickly killed in the next match when I was going through the onscreen tutorial prompts. After that I did pretty good till I decided to change weapons at spawn. Navigated through it, found the weapon I liked, bought it, took at most two steps and was killed because the other team didn't buy weapons and just ran to the other team's spawn.

Very, meh.

Nice, just picked it up. Didn't think it would go for 600msp. Not bad. Loved CS years ago, played a lot. Like a ton. Many versions. Good times.

I just watched the documentary of Indie games and it looks like I'm picking up super meat boy.
I really can't wait for the Walking Dead sales. Hurry up and come friday!

You've never played CS before, right? CS is/was probably the most competitive online fps game ever. Before Call of Duty, Halo, GOW, before a lot of games and the PC community thrives. Sorry you didn't like it, given enough time you probably would enjoy it. Unlike Call of Duty games now, CS tends to really show the wolves from the sheep. Mind you I haven't play CS on xbox yet though, but I assume it's still the same.

Basically Call of Duty holds your hand and gives you alot of help, CS doesn't.

Cool, Super Meat Boy is very good, humorous, perfect in short runs IMO.

Friday couldn't come any sooner, I was literally going to buy The Walking Dead series before hearing about the sale. Good for me, I already picked up the first ep. for free.
Basically Call of Duty holds your hand and gives you allot of help, CS doesn't.
Not that it matters but no I've never played Counter Strike...

Kills wasn't the problem, I played 6-8 matches/rounds and had two MVPs.. maybe a third. My K : D was over 2 last I looked but that wasn't the last round I played. (I just fired it up to look at my stats but they don't keep them for demo only players.. Though they do keep track of my timer.) Honestly, it felt like it was easier to get kills in counter strike than CoD.

The game just struck me as very low budget, graphics are basic looking, sound/audio avg at best and so of it below avg and the “in game tutorial” could have been handled with a screen or two of text to read before the first match... on ever the most shoe string of a budget. (Or they could have upped the budget for a proper tutorial.. It is a 15 dollar game after all.)

Honestly, just wasn't that impressed...

So yeah, was about to hit Purchase on WAR when I decided to give Deep Black a try, shouldn't have done that cuz I had fun with the trial. now I'm torn between WAR & Deep Black...Ugh...LOL

The game was originally a mod for Half-Life on the PC. Gone through a serious amounts of patches, updates and iterations. Finally becoming Counter-Strike Source, which is very similar to CS:GO. So yes, unless they reworked the whole concept, presentation and added features that have never been in the game before without upsetting the balance, then yes it wouldn't look and feel like a $15 game.

As you say, it's just not your cup of tea. Nothing wrong with that. Hopefully people on here will realize that it is basically a PC mod made for the 360 and not much more than that.

--------------

I personally feel that it's always been a team game, an under appreciated concept in most online gamers (not saying you). Not that a good k/d isn't nothing, it seems you can hold your own for sure. But having a bunch of team goal oriented friends to play the game with would be best for those interested. Unless you can't get enough of the trial of course.

On a side note, I use to watch videos of pros (real ones) playing CS 1.6 and it was astonishing. They were unbelievably quick and accurate, I mean headshots were amazing and constant, like every kill. The teamwork was like they had a hive-mind, frag points, choke points, defending the bomb sites and rushing, all in unison. Compared to Halo, call of duty pros to me they were unmatched.
Yes, and a very small, not-too-picky child. From what I could gather from the demo, it plays like a 3-D whack-a-mole lineup minigame where the moles can hit you back if you're too slow.

My son demo'd it last year and didn't like it at all. Not even a little. How a game fails to reach its target audience (5-year-old boys who love all things Ninja) is beyond me.
Interesting. My 6-year old nephew enjoyed the trial so when it ended I asked if he wanted me to buy it and he said yes so I did. We played through about 14 levels before we were both tired. The game can get somewhat difficult or frustrating when you have to rapidly switch between moves later on but basically he played until he needed a break or it got difficult then I stepped in. Also, I was coaching him the entire time by calling out combat moves so I think that made it fun and easier on him. I just remembered my nephew was a ninja for Halloween this year so he was really into it.

I decided to pass on Leedmees. It was pretty fine the first level but then I experienced the touchy controls and sensitive Leedmees who started dying too easily and I passed. I could already picture the frustration I'd have to deal with with more challenging levels and my nephew was not liking multiplayer so I'd lack a partner too and that made it easy to delete the trial. I'm glad I've been showing some restraint now with lesser 200-400 MSP games.

I've always been interested in Counter Strike but XBLA MP-only games don't hold my attention and it sounds like a Halo/COD fan like myself won't enjoy it as much. I'll play the trial still then make my final decision.

I don't want to discourage anyone, just talking about my experience thus far with CS as a whole. You may find that you really like it, without CS I doubt today's online shooters would be what they are.

It's a good idea for people to try games out if they can, like trials and demos. Especially this one, the trial is pretty much what your going to get.

Yup playing the demo for Dungeon Fighter, if it is the first levels, it's everything (more or less) that you need to judge if you like or not the game.

I loved it, and I have 50 hours on it, finished everything with two characters. It's a fun game to play in multiplayer online, which will be easy in the time around the sale since it will be purchased for more people.

I bought RAW. $5 was the sweet spot for me. I have been playing two of the characters (Warrior and Rogue), alternating every cuople of levels. It's pretty fun and it definitely old school. There is a fine line between old school and antiquated and this one walks the line. The loot is a little misleading. There are really only a few items that are worthwhile and the rest is for selling to vendors. I am enjoying it a little more than I should. Totally worth $5 for me.

As far as Deep Black, I played the demo a while back, but never bought it because I thought the price was too high. For $5, I may pick it up. You can't go wrong with either. They are not steak, but they are a solid Wendy's hamburger. Action RPGs are my favorite genre so, I would pick up RAW. If you are into shooters, you may want to go with DB.

Sorry to hear about your financial situation. Hopefully things will pick up for you in 2013. Hang in there!

I played most of episode one of the walking dead last night.

It's weird, I would hardly call it a game. It's more like a choose your own adventure story. But it's a well told story with great characters, voice actors, and dramatic moments.
Ok I'm hooked. Sign me up for walking dead episodes 2 through whatever.
If you feel that way after episode 1, your in for one hell of a ride. I was very pleased with how this series maintained such a high degree of quality for all of the episodes (unlike other Telltale games). That said, I find it kind of silly that sites are calling it game of the year. There are some inexcusable technical issues in every episode and the choices you make are great at first, but really don't have much an impact upon replaying.

I bought Fez a couple days ago when it was on sale and just started it last night. What an amazing game. If you're a fan of platformers and you miss out on this just because you think the creator is a douche then the only person that you're really effecting is yourself. You aren't "showing" him or anyone else, you're just missing out on a great game for a pretty stupid reason. $10 would be a great price for it, but $5 in points when I bought the points for half off at Target is one of the best deals I've had all year.

I was hooked after the first 5 minutes of the trial demo. Man, once I walked into the [Censore] and the [Censore] appeared and I was like what the fuck! and get fuck off me! take that! and this! Needless to say, some stuff went downI'm saying. My heartbeat raised up like at least 30bpm, good stuff.

Luckily I know zero details about the controversy and bought the game for what it is, which was real cheap.

I don't really understand the pure hatred he gets. I watched Indie Game: The Movie last night, and he comes off as arrogant but I get it. You just spent 4 years making a game, pouring every waking hour into the game, the game was literally his life for 4 years. I can excuse him for lipping off to people that knock what he has made or try to discredit anything he did, I'd be pretty damn defensive about the whole thing too if I spend that much time.

And as far as arrogance, he made one hell of a game. While it's not how I would handle myself, they guys a good developer.

He called Japanese video games "shit" during a press conference, then he got all pissy about having to apologize for it. He thinks he can say whatever he wants about other developers' games but acts like an arrogant dick in defense of his own. He's nothing but a hypocritical man-child whose social skills border on mentally challenged.

it's the same phenomenon that we all experience as children and (unfortunately) as adults. While it is true that Phish is an arrogant, pompous ass hat, most people "hate" him because they know other people "hate" him. it's like when kids (teens) think that pink on a man is "gay". Hell, even a lot of the hate COD gets is a result of this. People just tend to latch onto whatever they think the group is up to, without actually understanding a damn thing.

Nobody is giving the developer of SMB any shit for (in that same movie) saying that Call of Duty and Halo are shit. Group think can do a lot of strange things to people and their opinions.
