Are you fucking kidding me?
If the rest of that rumored list is true then unless next week's DOTW is anything, I am done for the year.

Over the last 2 years I think there was a total of 2-3 days when I didn't get something.
And then this year........... Well, at least there was Bastion.
Technically next week's DOTW would be next year. But I agree, the rumored list appears to be mostly DLC, which would be smart to supplement with an actual arcade game since catering to the DLC crowd is a smaller percentage instead of a "new game".
Can someone please repost that leaked list? (I'm on a mobile browser, and it's hard to find)
took the list from gaf:

I can see why some people are bummed out, but I'm actually pretty okay with what I've got from this years deals. The Fallout New Vegas DLC, MK DLC and Street Fighter III were all things I've been wanting. I loaded up on points last year and only ended up getting the Mass Effect DLC, so I can relate to getting hyped up for the deals and then being disappointed when they don't line up with what you were hoping for.

There's still hope for something special in the form of the weekly deal for next week!

No it would be the 27th
I never thought that day would come
I know right? Usually like to keep a running balance of ~10k but ever since XBL Rewards offered free points just for redeeming cards I've been just sitting on them. Guess I'll have to use one.

Actually since the next Deal of the Week would start on the 27th there is still hope for this year.
No it would be the 27th
They're running one that week too? Sweet. Figured they wouldn't run one the week of the 27th since the 12-day going through the 2nd.

I think people are bummed, (at least I am), because some of us who have PCs have gotten spoiled on Steam's "never fails to impress" killer set of holiday deals, and in comparison, Microsoft seems to have such crappy deals on crappy stuff, (or stuff that most have already bought, like DLC), that even 75% off seems like it's still overpriced.

They've made 1200 to 1600 points the new standard price for Arcade games, and anything higher than 400 points, unless for a hugely popular title, (which again, most have probably already bought), just seems like too much still.

I guess I can still hope for a huge Christmas one-day sale that hasn't been leaked.
Calling it right now, DotW for 12/27: Bethesda DLC sale.
Actually, I was hoping all the Oblivion DLC would go on sale again back when Skyrim came out.

Usually they will run a DOTW no matter what other sales are going on.

Very possible, but not true for me. I know not to compare Steam deals to XBLA/PSN deals because it's just depressing. Any reasonable CAG (hopefully) knows that PC is the way to go for the absolute cheapest method of gaming and that console gamers have to pay a premium to be a console gamer. That's something I've accepted and I'd assume lots of others here on this thread have as well.

Also, I don't think there's any chance of a big Xmas sale, but I could be wrong. They didn't do one last year, tho.

I guess there won't be any discount on Grubbins on Ice. :(

Damn...I thought for sure we'd see it discounted this holiday season.

I look forward to sonic and gears of war 3 season pass. Here's hoping for sonic 4, 400 MSP and the dreamcast sonic for 400MSP (Would of got it before but didnt have my current HD). Also if that list is true then IM 10000000000% sure that all Black OP dlc maps will go on sale for those who havent gotten them yet

For me, a disappointing countdown sale. I may have some interest in the Gears 3 content depending on the price cut. Hopefully, it appeals to some others.

At least the price cuts that last the length of the holiday sale were decent for me. ITSP and Portal: Still Alive were easy buys.

Lame deals this season. I remembered last year was much better. Was hoping for more deals on the summer of arcade games like Bastion was the first day. Oh well, guess I'm selling the 4k card I got for $30 and kept just in case this holiday season was going to be crazy (Still have 2600 unspent points on my account).
Might as well ask, but...

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix or Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition?
If you're asking which is better, I would say 3rd Strike. Crazy amount of content for $15, let alone $7.50. Might want to ask in the fighting game thread in the 360 forum for more, advanced opinions.

I guess I'll go ahead and buy Rock of Ages. If the list does hold to be true, I'll just use my points on the BAC bundle and other DLC (Costume Quest, Stacking, Band of Bugs, etc.) after this sale is over.
Quick question: Does Street Fighter III: Online edition have a replay system where I can see other people replay like Super Street Fighter 4? I like to record other people replay and then post them on a youtube channel.
That channel must get a lot of "hits".

/sarcastic pun

(the only thing worse than that pun in this thread is the German List)

I disagree. Expensive pc hardware that you have to pay more for and then upgrade in 3 to 5 years makes pc gaming more expensive. But that hardware allows you a ton more options via free user created mods and such.

The cheap games are nice on pc though. Just gotta have the hardware to run it.

I think this year end's deals matches up well against last year's. It is just that last year's they paced out the Summer of Arcade titles amongst the days, with Limbo being the disappointment priced [33% off opposed to the others at 50% off the other 4 awesome titles (Castlevania HD, Hydro Thunder, Lara Croft, Monday Night Combat)] durring the same promotion (fortunately, Limbo was 50% off on a later promotion). Whereas this year, they dumped the important ones (to me) all at the start with Bastion and Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet; they even threw in Bloodrayne Betrayal too at the start. I suppose the disappointment priced game was From Dust, again 33% off instead of 50%, on a slightly earlier Ubisoft sale. Also last year's countdown, I believe also had Zune movie rentals eating up whole days, so in my opinion DLC is preferable over that.

I must say I am quite happy Street Fighter 3: Third Strike Online is on sale. I was waiting for it to drop to 600MSP, I am glad I did. However, a previous post asked about SSF2T, and I do prefer the way the mechanics of that better than the 3 games. Yet, I do find quite a bit of charm in 3, with its animations (love Elena's "idle" stance) and I applaud the port of 3rd Strike giving me the option to select the sharp pixels I so like in emulated games opposed to the choice of "stretched (not well redrawn) bitmap" or "blurry mess" HD-remix offers for just the characters. I will still side with SSF2T, by pure mechanics (and Cammy White).

If the rumored German list ends out to be true, it is wishfull thinking there may be hope Sonic CD could be there for Sonic content. I know the deals cannot be ideal but I did also secretly hope From Dust would have hit that 50% mark for me to try. Yet the list will make me ask about some of those Season Pass offers, because I do not have those games yet. Yet. When those days come, I'll ask ^^.

I still desire Trenched/Iron Brigade, Sonic CD, Super Puzzle Fighter Turbo HD Remix, Soul Calibur, and SNK XBLA titles to be on discount. Also Half-Minute Hero was on Deal of the Week in Japan a couple weeks back.

The good news is that the deals are moving up on the arcade list when you "sort by date" while having a few glaring omissions (I'm looking at you Trenched/Iron Brigade). We are at the point of around Burnout Crash, Mercury Hg, NBA Jam, and Worms: Ultimate. Sadly, I had already bought NBA Jam at full (I try to convince myself LBJ's clutch rating of 3 made up for the added 600MSP). Now I see a NFL Blitz to be released sometime for XBLA as well, I will have to investigate if that is worthwhile.

However, maybe I did expect much from the countdown sales [if the rumor list is to be believed]. Without much I anticipate purchasing based on the rumors, I kind of kick myself for not buying Full House Poker at 400MSP. I stockpiled a lot of MSP in anticipation of this sale. If the sales don't meet the expectation, at least I have games to look forward to on XBLA like Under Defeat HD, Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown, and Dust: An Elysian Tail to help clear out my onhand point cards. Who knows, maybe a Dungeon Fighter Online, Fire Pro Wrestling, and/or NFL Blitz can squeeze themselves into the list too.

Maybe it was just a case of last year's Summer of Arcade ended out to be a 5 of 5 purchased through deals ... while this year, I already knew I was going to pass up on 2 of the 5 (one cus I lack the peripheral, the other cus I didn't enjoy the predecessor). So with little to offer, they offered what they could. [Then again, they can also fill in the gaps with other XBLA titles from the past, or jump ahead]

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix or Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition?
Be sure to download the trial for Third Strike. They changed the timing required on special and super moves, and it's MUCH more strict than either HD Remix or any version of Street Fighter IV. It basically means a lot more unsuccessful move attempts, and makes the game especially unforgiving for pad players, but it is also noticeable on a stick.

It really sucks, and made the game a LOT less appealing for me. But like I said, check out the trial and see how noticeable you find it to be.

Not that expensive, considering no one (should) uses a PC just for gaming. If you're really short on money, you can build or get built a perfectly good gaming desktop for $500-600, which was the price of a PS3 when it came out. Upgrades shouldn't run you more than $150 unless you're really trying to keep your machine top notch. And consoles often have to be replaced multiple times during a console's lifespan. On top of that, you have to worry about your console getting supported. A PC game 15 years old will work on any PC and a PC game now will work in 15 years on a PC assuming there isn't some dramatic change in technology while you'll have to worry about keeping the console, making sure it can work with whatever display hardware you have and worrying about the console dying from age.

And, considering the PC already has a very functional Wii/GC emulator and other emulators in progress, console games can be archived on the PC too.

PC is marginally more expensive as far as hardware goes but software is always cheaper, easier to get and with the PC you get a LOT more bang for your buck.

28.12.2011: Sonic Inhalte
I have a feeling that's going to be a Sega sale, considering they mentioned that After Burner Climax & Renegade Ops would both be $5 off during one of the days of the Xmas sale.

Otherwise, a big "meh" to the sale. I already got Bastion, which was a great deal, on Day 1 (plus a free copy of The Maw). Guess I'll just keep an eye out for their free pair of 20## glasses that they release every year.

 I think you are stuck in the 90's... these days even a mid level pc can run games like deus ex/battlefield 3, even netbooks can run games like torchlight.

Really, it's the consoles that are holding back pc gaming, it's a double edged sword, pro: you don't have to upgrade your pc to play today's hits, con: untapped potential of your beast rig.

A netbook can run Torchlight? Whachoo smoking? A netbook can barely play YouTube videos without stuttering.

Back on topic, does anyone know if Renegade Ops still has an active community? I can't imagine it has many players since it launched at 1200 MSP. (Hopefully eastx will know? I remember seeing an ad for a co-optimus game night on dashboard.)

If you're talking about the inputs themselves, then the only SF game that has easier inputs is SF4, because that game features "input shortcuts" (ex. doing a 270 degree motion counts as a 360 degree motion in that game). However, HD Remix and 3rd Strike do not have input shortcuts.

With that said, if someone new to SF games asked me whether to get HD Remix or 3rd Strike, I would say HD Remix. Both are amazing games, but the gameplay system of 3rd Strike is lot more technical and harder for a beginner to get into (parries, two buttons for throws, super cancels), while HD Remix is a much more straightforward fighting game engine (blocking, special moves, and supers, that's it).
even netbooks can run games like torchlight.
I think you need to take a second look at those netbooks. Most of them are utter crap and would probably have a hard time running DOS games.

So that list isn't confirmed right? I hope not because im sorely disappointed then. I did at least get Bastion though, which is a great game. Im really hoping for Resident Evil 4 HD to go on sale.

The only confirmation is that it got the FO DLC and SF3 right. However, it wasn't clear if it came out before or after the FO DLC was found to be on sale. Still a grain of salt until tomorrow night.

yeah, glad i traded some of my MSP's with another CAG user for Joe Danger download code then. :)
i'm trying trust me

are there some games that will never be discounted?
Dunno for games from your list, but seems like titles like Mutant Storm Reloaded, Mutant Storm Empire (released in 2005-2007) are never been on sale so far. same goes to both Metal Slug games. Bought them at their original price last month - i now it's pointless to wait anymore. Some games are just forgotten from MS. -_-
Calling it right now, DotW for 12/27: Bethesda DLC sale.
Lol, that would be HUGE troll from MS.
I'm still kicking myself for not getting Ms. Splosion Man when it was 400 points. And here I was hoping it would be a daily deal, sigh.
Ms. Splosion Man was already worth at 800MSP - i mean it offers more content than most of the 1200MSP games. But for 400? Man that was huge steal. :)
I think you need to take a second look at those netbooks. Most of them are utter crap and would probably have a hard time running DOS games.
Just figured I would chime in and mention that my netbook runs Torchlight just fine. It's a 1.66Ghz Intel Atom dual core with the stock 1gb of ram running windows 7. Plays perfectly smooth without hitches. Just have to tweak the settings a bit and then it's perfectly playable. Though I would recommend getting a USB mouse cause the touch pad is hard to play with.

A Torchlight was developed specifically for Netbooks. Look it up.

My netbook runs torchlight just fine. Its a acer aspire one 722 I think. The only other modern games i have on it is Beat Hazard ,plants vs zombies and a bunch of those find the hidden item games oh I can play left 4 dead at a lower resolution pretty well because I have the teletubby mod and show people at work all the time.
It only ran 280 I bought it for something to take to work because I was afraid my laptop would get stolen of broken.

I do all my PC gaming on a netbook for the last year. It runs Skyrim, Starcraft II and others pretty well. It definitely runs Torchlight without a hitch. Not all netbooks are garbage.

is there some internet law that states every thread about the 360 has to be hijacked by butthurt PC fanboys? no one cares if your netbook can run Torchlight or not this is about the sacred XBLA deals

If it runs Skyrim well, that sounds more like a small notebook than a netbook. Guessing you are mistaken. But netbooks do run Torchlight (obviously) and simpler games just fine.

I'm not sure you know who's the butthurt one here.
Any idea what the sonic deal will be?
The same sonic stuff that's been on sale a million times before.

Seriously, the sonic and rdr content can't be anything that hasn't been on sale before. So im holding out hope that those are filler sales in Germany and we'll get something good here.

If you can run Skyrim or Starcraft II, you have a notebook or even a laptop. It is not a netbook. As the name implies, a netbook is just barebones enough to surf the web and check e-mail.

The first two or three hours of the game run fine enough, but after lvl 10 or so, things slow to a crawl because there are more mobs and too many things going on. There's a lengthy thread on Runic Games' forum debating exactly what we're talking about, so let's not derail the thread any further.

Eastx, did you see my question regarding Renegade Ops? I was wondering how active the community still is.

I know you didn't ask me, but I think I can answer your question. I purchased Renegade Ops as soon as it went down to 600 points.

A majority of the time when I try to join matches in it, it won't find anybody playing. When I did find matches there were probably only found 2 or 3 people total playing online, but every time I joined one of them they either shut down the game, or it was someone away from their controller and they wouldn't start the session. So as of now I haven't been able to play one single game of multiplayer in Renegade Ops.
