Or you could remember that just cause you have points doesn't mean you have to spend them. So if you end up with 80 left over, just leave them, and next time your rewards comes through and it is 120 or something, all good again.
Don't the reward points expire though?
We're celebrating full price why exactly?
Because most of us expected it to be 1200 points.
We're celebrating full price why exactly?
Because it isn't 1200 points like a number of other recent XBLA games.

So I see from the OP that MS changed their mind...again...and dropped the price on Blade Kitten and Undergarden. I may pick them up when they go on sale! The current price is still more than what I am willing to pay for them.
We're celebrating full price why exactly?
What others have said, as well as the fact that its probably much closer to coming out since a price point has already been stated. If your not at all excited about this game then you shouldn't be playing games.

Chiming in with everybody else... Did you ask that with a straight face? It's a game that lots of people want and they could have charged 1200 points for it. Instead, they were reasonable and priced it at 800. Everybody wins.

On top of that, when it goes on sale, it won't be discounted 1200-->800/600, but instead 800-->600/400
The "Snoopy" deal is gone this morning ... it's back to 800pts both before & after sign-in.
I will adjust the OP when I get home

Has anyone else played the demo for Moon Diver yet? I am the only one that thinks the game plays EXACTLY like Blade Kitten?

...I don't know whether to just facepalm or sit in a corner and weep over what Square Enix has been reduced to...

This is strange.....the Rewards Site said i was only susposed to get like 170 points, logged in today and i had gotten around 250 points o_O.

Either way, awesome i guess. Finally will buy another Castlevania character or something

Also, i hated Moon Diver
Don't the reward points expire though?
If i'm not mistaken all non bought ms points do expire, but I think they expire in one year after being given, which is plenty of time to get more points.
Don't the reward points expire though?
IIRC, they supposedly expire in 2012.

I have a few promotional points from 2008 that are still valid. ;)
So, anybody else see Deathsmiles 2X is coming to Games on Demand next week? It will be $30, and still in Japanese. Apparently Cave is completely skipping an on-disc release in the U.S.

http://www.joystiq.com/2011/05/13/deathsmiles-2x-going-straight-to-games-on-demand-next-tuesday/
Yea not really pleased. I mean the price never drops on games on demand. Plus the fact that they aren't even bothering to do english subtitles and want $30 when I just spent much less on a localized Trouble Witches.

I'm really going to have to think about this one...

I've heard Deathsmiles 2X is lousy, though, and, to be honest, I liked Deathsmiles, but man, Castle Shikigami 3 and Espgaluda 2 are both so much better.

Still, that's pretty cool that they are dropping full games on the On Demand service. Not that I ever want to bother with it, but the thought is nice. Sony has done a better job leveraging the online sales, even with XBLA's quite strong showing. Both services have lousy interfaces.

And then of course lol PSN.

Not sure about anyone else, but I picked up the Minerva's Den dlc today and it is really good, quite long too, been playing it a lot today and yesterday as well, well worth the 400 pts.
Because most of us expected it to be 1200 points.
Why would anyone think that for this game though?

They're keeping everything the same and just tracing over the characters, if it were done from the ground up then maybe, as it stands I don't see why anyone would expect higher then 800.
But hey, if people are excited then great

Ikaruga was 1200 and that was a straight port with LESS content than the previous console release.

And I guess I shouldn't have said do, but can. Non-purchased points can expire (purchased points can). Read This if you don't believe me. It is from microsoft's billing and account management page.

But I have to ask... Did you activate those points? If so then if you've bought anything since 2008 then you would have used them already.

I played it for about 3 minutes and hated it. It felt like a cheap Strider knockoff. Haven't played Blade Kitten.

Read the announcement again. It's not just a version with updated graphics.

+1.

Plus the original Guardian Heroes still goes for 50-60 dollars. I, for one, am excited that I can play this gem of a game again. Oh, and let's not forget it includes LIVE support. Sign me up. :applause:

Moon Diver is a spiritual sequel to Strider as it comes from Strider's creator.
Don't the reward points expire though?
Ok, so some people have touched on some random things so hopefully this will eliminate most questions:

I don't know if Reward points are supposed to expire, but I can tell you that I have 370 on my account at the moment for sure and nothing on my billing page says they expire (I have see it when they do and despite what that FAQ posted earlier in this thread stated, most "promotional points" with expiration dates seem to be closer to a year in length). So by all accounts I would have to assume none of them on my account are set to expire, and I know there are reward points there.

2nd, if they were set to expire, your account automatically deducts the points set to expire before points that don't expire. So if you have 1600 points on your account in paid points and get 280 points that will expire, if you spend 280 points at any point before they expire you will effectively spend the points with an expiration date. For example, if you bought a game for 400 points, 280 of those points would be the ones set to expire with the remainder coming from the 1600 in paid points. So unless your account only had the points from the rewards program in it, odds are that "80 point leftover" would not actually be points set to expire, even if it was, if you add more points, those 80 will be the first ones to be spent.

Rewards points do expire.

From the Rewards Wiki FAQ, which was pulled from the official Rewards page:

Q: Will my Xbox LIVE Rewards Points expire?
A: Rewards Points do expire, so be sure to use them by June 30, 2012.
However, like BudzMcGee said, unless you don't spend ANY points from now until then you don't need to worry. Points w/ expiration dates will be spent FIRST.

I don't see why people are getting worried about reward points expiring, 99% chance is that you will spend those points in the next month or so

Age of Booty is showing as 400 for me. Also, there isnt a page on the dashboard that has all the sale stuff. Generally there is. Is this some sort of User Error?

Age of Booty is part of the Pirates themed DotW next week. This week is 50% off select Mafia 2/Bioshock 2/Borderlands dlc, check the op for details. The sales and special offers page is showing up for me, it's located in the spotlight section of the dashboard 2nd from the right.

Yes, the sprites are outlined and it's got local and online co op plus extra challenges.

Again, it's not being built from the ground up, I never expected a 1200 point game

So what? Obviously you're in the minority and there's no reason to have a prolonged argument over it.

You obviously do not comprehend how much work it takes to do all of this. It's not as if they redrew the sprites, injected them into the rom and ran it on an emulator. I would imagine it took more resources to create this game than 90% of the other games on XBLA. The Saturn was a bitch to program on. Porting the code (let alone redoing the graphics and adding the extra modes) probably was not a walk in the park.
Anyway, since you figured out beforehand that it would not be a 1200 msp game then you are obviously smarter than the rest of us here. Good job!

But you also have to understand the difference between recreating a game and creating a game. Think of it like a movie and lets compare 300 to say Avatar (Probably not the best example, but I couldn't think of a movie not based on a book or already created ip). With 300 they already had the story, the visual pieces, and a good amount of dialogue to use, which meant they wouldn't have to really think up the movie, but just shoot it. With Avatar, they had to create a story, create every set and scene (from concept), and had to create every piece of dialogue from scratch.

It might be a pain in the ass to essentially rewrite and redraw a game, but to create a entirely new game with a uniquely built story, concept, and art would be most likely a much more difficult task.

Think how much development time can be essentially thrown away without the need to actually create a new game. A lot of the game is already done for them.

I honestly have no idea what game you are talking about (because I don't care about looking back through this thread), but I think no recreation of an older game should ever cost essentially the highest amount a game can (I know some arcade games were $20, but still $15 has usually been the highest number) and I would assume if it was a recreation it would not be the highest. Of course that is also from past experience. Perfect Dark and Turtles in Time were both 800 msp (I bet there is a recreation that was $15... just can't think of one).
Let's play nice guys/gals
LET'S GET HIM!

Seriously I can't tell if they were even arguing or not. The fact everyone should take away is that the game is priced (appropriately) at 800 points which means we can all enjoy it for 400 points when it goes on sale at some point.

I guess since its a a repeat DotW people need to talk about something in this thread.

So you think I should sell my original Guardian Heroes and Radiant Silvergun before the XBLA versions hit? They've been sitting in my closet forever at this point.

Anyone that is hardcore enough to spend big money on old Treasure games will know that the games are getting re-released. It's not like the price is going to bottom out the week those games hit XBLA. I'm just going to hold on to my copies.

Seriously?!?!? I never expected this game to be released on the marketplace. If I can't celebrate it amongst MANY others that are elated about it than YOU can GTFO. Its rather refreshing they are releasing it at 800 points.

Whoa, almost 30 minutes later and it worked!

Thanks, does this end at midnight tonight? I suppose that's enough time to give it a shot.
