XBLA - Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix - 1200pts
I finally decided to play ranked matches last night and went like 0-5. I knew I wasn't good, but I didn't think I was that bad.

This game has me seriously considering the purchase of an arcade stick. Man I miss arcades.....
Yeah after playing the demo I knew there was no way in hell I'd buy this to play on a regular control pad.
Disconnects must count towards the "Playing To Win" cheesemint, I just got it and I only have 100 wins... I know I've had at least a couple of people disconnect on me during a match.
I don't know unless they patched something recently on the server side because the first night I played ranked matches every single match I was about to win the other person disconnected and I was showing as 0 wins on the leaderboards that night and like 6 losses or something.

I made it all up last week when I was actually able to play against people who lost fair and square. I had to actually win 20 matches to get that 20th Anniversary achievement so I can say with great certainty that at least a couple of weeks ago disconnects did not count towards wins.

I'm having better luck with the 360 joystick over the D-pad to the point where I can pretty consistently pull off moves on cue. I'm sure with practice it will get better.

Now I just wonder if I go with the Hori EX2 or hold off for the SFIV stick (not the tournament). The EX2 looks like a nice piece but the stick thread seems to indicate the SFIV stick will be worth the wait. I'm more of a casual fighting player so I don't know if I'll really see the difference. I wouldn't mind having the stick for other arcade games though.

I usually pick Balrog online because people are so clueless on how to defeat him. Just spam One and Two and people just sit there stunned that someone knows how to play with Balrog lol.

I'm a lot more confused by good Dhalsim, Bison, and Fei-Long players. At least with Balrog I know he's prrrrrrrobably going to try to punch me in the face.

Yea Blanka vs. either Bison or Balrog usually isn't that bad. But I hate: Cammy, Akuma, Ryu, who else... a few others, usually other Blankas too.

I used to be a huge d,df,f fan, but I changed to charge characters last yer when I was addictantly playing SF2HF on XBLA (I think that came out last year). So now I mostly stick to Bison, Dee Jay, Balrog in that order. Dee Jay is so fun, but Bison's my boy.

If you ever want to play give me a shout PhrostByte!

Yeah I switched to charge guys when Remix came out cuz it's too hard to do fb motions on this controller.. My order goes: Blanka, Honda, DJ, Akuma, anyone else...

With the original SF2 series, I used to only play Ken, Ryu, Bison. With the Alpha series I pretty much only used Akuma.

I'll definitely play you when I get home from work at 11:00pmEST. Add me to your buddy list.

Anybody know what happened to the ranked match ratings and why they zeroed out?

Around a 115-89 record last time I checked. I almost exclusively use Cammy, with an occasional Blanka or Sagat round to change it up. Struggling a bit now the herd is being thinned of Achievement chasers, but I'm pretty content that I have an above .500 record.

Think it was some glitch of some sort. I was noticing the same thing when I was playing a while back. People ignore it I guess and just try to enjoy it without the rank.
hankmecrankme has a decent Guile..
If I ever have a son I'll name him Guile.
^This statement excludes me from ever having a son.
Your Blanka is decent as well.

I might finally do it, build a stick for my 360 this weekend. . .

Ever since the ranking glitch I stopped playing ranked. So yeah, that killed it for me. No reason to play if it's just gonna glitch again. Just local and player matches from now on.

Nice games last night Jim Foley. I would have stayed longer if WWE Raw wasn't coming on.

I started playing ranked again. I know I was making a stink about quitters, but what I am going to do from now on is send them a nice "LOL" message over live and just submit a review. I've been playing well this week (20 and 4 or so) and I'm not going to let the clowns get to me. I mainly just want to get my wins above my losses since it was skewed when I tried to get the master achievement.

GGs to you to, man.

The same thing happened to me but I never bothered to get my stats back to a winning record. Only player matches for me from now on.

Speaking of that, anyone hit me up for some games whenever.
GGs Foley, thanks for helping me improve my game.. most people I play with on Live just laugh at how audibly pissed I get. :(
No problem! We'll have to play again sometime.

Hey guys, I havent beat the game on easy yet. So I was doing fairly well and I was rewarded by getting a chance to fight fucking akuma. He beat my ass for about an hour before i turned off my 360. Can you guys give me any tips for beating that asshole? I usually play as Ken

I beat him with Blanka on my second try just playing the way I usually do. But I've heard people say pick Sagat and spam standing HK the whole time.

I posted a strategy for beating him with T. Hawk a few pages back.

fuck I hate Balrog... all I need to do is win with him and I got that cheesemint, any tips? It sucks because any noob shoto can just own me because projectiles just obliterate my Balrog.
I know, it's just easier said than done.
I generally Buffalo Headbutt through the first and then jump over the next. Just be careful about the Dragon Punches.

This isn't a flawless strategy or anything, but you should be able to squeak out a win with this in mind. Keep in mind his throw is incredible.

Balrog is actually my dude, so if you wanna play on Live sometime I can show you some things.

Woot, just got the cheesemint thanks to your advice. Only took me two matches to get it done.

GOOD GOD! I just bought this game a few days ago and, I don't know if it's been mentioned already by anyone else, I HATE the 360 controller. :bomb: Being raised on the arcade sticks, the 360 controllers just don't feel right. I can't even beat the game on normal. I haven't been keeping up on good high quality arcade sticks for the 360 so anyone have any suggestions? I want to buy one ASAP so I can beat the shit out of it.

I currently use the Hori Fighting Stick EX2. In my opinion, it does the job adequately especially for SFII, but I'm considering picking up the Hori Real Arcade Pro when that releases.

No, you're the very first to mention that.

I used to play a mix of d, df, f & charge characters but I honestly have a harder time playing the charge characters with the X360 analog stick.

I'm still pretty terrible but finally have won a couple ranked matches online. Lots of close ones recently so at least I'm getting a little better. Practice, practice, practice.

By the way, here's a little tidbit that I don't think has been mentioned: my friend and I discovered last night that the "Master of All Things" achievement is attainable in player matches. All the wins were done in one PM session. I'm not sure if it is a glitch but I was pretty surprised to see the achievement unlock.

I was playing games with some buddies yesterday and they wanted to see how good I was in remixed (They hate fighters and always think I'm weird for being good at them). I was pretty confident and decided to play a few ranked matches expecting to win a couple. Boy oh boy was a sorely disappointed. I played about 10 matches and won only a single game. That was embarrassing. The shitty thing is most of the time I kept play the same person over & over.

I understand why players wanna quit on ranked games, I don't even bother anymore trying to play there. But are there any advantages to quitting out on tournament and non ranked matches...besides not wanting to face the loss screen? I see almost just as much in that mode as well. Any news on a penalty being implemented in IV?

There's a whole thread dedicated to HD Remix. Why would there be a penalty for player matches, you can get like 6 people in a room.

Even tho i have an arcade stick, i still kick booty with gief on the 360 controller. Gief/Chun i do extremely well with, especially gief tho. I can do the traditional 360 and 720 super on call pretty much each and every time. I cannot do a uppercut to save my life tho. Good thing its not needed. Anytime i need to get serious, i plug in the arcade stick.

I beat him with Blanka as well. It was a pain in the arse but you just have to learn what not to do and when.

I read on another site that a lot of people have better luck using Cammy and her flying back-hand deal that goes through fire-balls. Another thing I think they mentioned was to set your options to 1-round matches so you only have to beat him 1 round to win. Sounds like it could be a real time and stress-saver.

Also, if anyone ever sees me on XBL playing anything (probably COD:WaW) I am always willing to switch over to play some Street Fighter. Granted, I'm probably not on but maybe one friends list on people posting from the last few pages. That brings up a good point, is there a "CAG SSFTHDR" gamertag or something for finding people and if not maybe we should start one so people interesting in playing player matches can meet up.
There is a CAG tag for sure... I forget the name offhand but they definitely have one. It has an avatar that looks like Guile.

What is with the annoying McDonald's colors?

And the tag is CAG SSF2THDR

I'm just coming in here to vent. I got my ass beat about 5 times in row by 5 different guys all using Guile. i kept getting trapped in the corner and getting chipped away by sonic booms and flash kicked if i tried to get out. Admittedly, im not very good. Does anyone have any tips against that bastard Guile while playing as Ken/Ryu?
