XBLIG Price Drops

CAGiversary!

Since Microsoft recently changed their pricing structure for Xbox Indies, larger games can can now be sold for 80 MSP. As a result, many XBLIG devs have opted to drop the price of their games. I thought it would be pretty cool to have a thread that would try to track what WORTHWHILE games are now cheaper.

DISCLAIMER: Yes, I know that Xbox Indies is a largely horrifying wasteland of shovelware and absolute garbage like "Avatar Zombie Massager" and "Look I Made a One Level Platformer with MS Paint!!!". (There's really no need to elaborate on it further, we all know this.) But there ARE some good games in the pile. And I'd like to keep the thread focused on those, if possible.

DISCLAIMER 2 (The More Important One):
Xbox Live Indie Games require an internet connection to start the game. It doesn't matter if you have a Silver (Free) or Gold account, just that the Xbox is connected to the internet. Again, this is only to start the game; once the game is running you can disconnect your Xbox, but not sign out of your profile.

There are a lot of things in the world that are worth $3. TKA is not one of these things, IMHO.

UNLOCKABLE KITTONZ!!?!??

I retract my last statement, TKA should be a 1200MSP XBLA game now!
I say the OP just gets updated with the price drops and we post recommendations. That way i dont forget to check both threads:)

What was that puzzle game that Justin from Joystiq wrote about? Has that dropped?

Edit: NM i found it. Its called Sequence, and its still $3
That's what I was thinking: Having the OP stick to price drops for good games and let the thread be a source of recommendations for good games that are already $1... Unless people really want a "OTHER RECOMMENDED GAMES" section in the OP and it won't be too confusing.

On a side note, I am waiting for Sequence to get a price drop. When it first came and I played demo, the controls didn't seem too great to me. I think they thought about the dance pad first and then threw in other control options as an afterthought. At 240, I passed on it; but for 80, I buy it.
Prismatic Solid is another great title just lowered to 80... one I picked up for 240 and just played for the first time a week ago.... ugh.

EDIT.... wait, am I thinking of Revolver360? 'cause that's still 240....
Yep, that was was $1 from day one. Armless Octopus (great indie review site, btw) considered it one of the top 20 XBLIG games for 2010.
which is better soulcaster 1 or 2?
I recommend both of them. (Hey, they're only 80 MSP.) But if only want to grab one of them, buy Soulcaster II. It has a several improvements over the first one like better graphics and more intricate dungeons.

Now if we could just get MS to stop COMPLETELY BURYING the Indie Game selection beneath a maze of menus, then maybe people would more readily buy them.

What about wiki'ing this and having a Recommended game section. When someone adds a game to the list, others could second the nomination. Might be easier for new readers to te post in 6 months when there would be dozens of pages to go through.

I picked up sequence the other day, before it was announced that XBLIG were dropping price.

I don't regret it, it's quite the game and I would be surprised to see it drop to 80 tbh.

Can anyone else find "Epic Dungeon" on XBLA?

It's one of the better indie games out there. Haven't tried finding it on my dashboard but seems to have been removed on the site.

I don't know why, but they changed the name to Cursed Loot.

Picked up cthulu saves the world and trying the soulcaster demo again.

All those minecraft comes are weird to me. Wheres the fun in those games? And why buy the knockoffs when the real minecraft is coming?

Picked up Cthulhu this morning after seeing your post OP, and i've been playing it for 2 1/2 hours straight. Love it, thanks for the heads up!

Can anyone find the game called Protect Me Knight or Mamotte Knight on the Xbox Marketplace from the above article? It looks pretty fun to me, but I can't find it.

CTHULHUUUUU!!! This is great, I've been pondering over the indy games for the past couple of weeks. I figure I grab a few with the xbox rewards points I got on my other accounts. Cthulhu caught my eye and I had a laugh riot with the trial. I was just waiting for rewards to deposit more points into a account. Now it's 80 I'm buying it under my main account.:bouncy:

Another good shooter is Infinity Danger. Instead of long levels, it's just a series of progressively larger boss battles.

PS - Nobody cares if it was a dollar on day one or not.
I didn't bother reading into reviews for DLC quest. The concept of the game sounds brilliant and hillarious. Thanks Survivalism, and thanks OP for the other titles I snagged.
I bought it the moment I read the blurb trying to sell the DLC pause menu.
Can anyone find the game called Protect Me Knight or Mamotte Knight on the Xbox Marketplace from the above article? It looks pretty fun to me, but I can't find it.
まもって騎士

(still 240 btw)
Thank you sir!
Hint for you:

If you're looking for any (most) of the high quality indie titles, sort by either "Top Rated" or "Best Selling All-Time", and set it to 90 results per page.

Most of the time what you're looking for will be on page 1.

I'm holding off on doing the wiki thing as an absolute last resort. Mostly because I can see that getting messy.

I'll put up a poll in a little while to see if people want a recommendation section. Also, is there a way to add a post just beneath the OP? Is that something a mod can do?

I mentioned it earlier in the thread. They added another character and some new stuff and re-released it as Cursed Loot.

I read the blog of the developer at the time and got the impression they probably had to do it for a legal reason (like perhaps they actually became an actual business entity in the legal sense).

Totally worth 80 points. I picked it up when Wombat recommended it a while back on the podcast.

Wait a damn minute....

I own Epic Dungeon, but xbox.com is giving me the option to purchase Cursed Loot.....?

Now, I haven't booted up ED in a loooooong time, will starting the game cause it to update, or am I really gonna have to purchase the same game twice?

Epic Dungeon still works. I have both games. They are completely different games as far as the XBOX is concerned.

Cursed Loot was basically a major update.

lot more info on the website of the developer: http://www.eyehookgames.com/

Some new drops today:

Karnn Age (was 400 msp)
Tower Revolution (was 400 msp)
REVOLVER360 (was 240 msp)

The first two look pretty meh to me but gamers on the xblaratings.com site had good things to say about them. I'll probably check out REVOLVER360...It looks really awesome and unique shump. Here's a review: http://www.xboxhornet.com/wordpress/?p=7024

Edit...if you guys haven't figured it out already when you type in all caps the censor ignores you.

Added Revolver360 to the OP since it seems to have positive reviews all around.

The other two.... Ok, this is where things get complicated. :/

I'm using several review sites and, of course, CAG recommendations to figure out what games are the worthwhile ones - as opposed to filling up the OP with every single Xbox Indie that drops. (Because I'm sure there's going to be waaay too many in the coming months.)
Karn Age, Tower Revolution, Colony Defense are ones I noticed before but didn't add to the OP because they have nothing but mediocre reviews.
(Again, this where I need help from other CAGs - if you think I'm in the wrong here, just let me know.)

Vamn, Thanks for doing such great work! (and linking to Armless Octopus, of course :) ) Anyways, I'd suggest not letting it get too bogged down with a lot of the crap. There are a lot of games that could potentially drop, so it's probably useful to have some kind of filter on it. Do you intend on keeping pretty current with it though?

Take Arms also recently dropped. Here's my review of it - I think it's been patched since then though.

Thanks! That's kind of what I've been trying to do. So far, between the posts here and on twitter - and checking games on my wish list - I think I'm able to keep up.

I'll add Take Arms to the OP. The fact that it was part of one of the Indie Uprisings definitely earns it a spot there.

By the way, I had no idea you were on CAG! I just stumbled across your site through google when I was desperately trying to find a good indie review site.

I used to come on and post reviews about games and I still throw our contests in the forums too. I've been a huge fan of CAG for years though. It's amazing how little time you have to come hang out in forums when your free time is gobbled up by actually working on a website though!

Hey look...a link to my first review! haha. Hope I've come a long way since then..http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?p=7072812#post7072812

I like having a complete list of what's available. What about a HOT list and a NOT list? Just throw all the other, not-worth-your-time-to-even-download games into a second NOT list. You wouldn't even need to link to reviews. It would also let everyone know that hasn't been following the list that you already know about the game and have chosen to put it in the crap column.

Thanks for the thread.

Karn Age, Tower Revolution, Colony Defense are ones I noticed before but didn't add to the OP because they have nothing but mediocre reviews.
(Again, this where I need help from other CAGs - if you think I'm in the wrong here, just let me know.)
I was just posting drops that I noticed on the @xblaratings twitter feed. Put whatever you want in the front post, it's up to you.

However, some of the games I have posted, that haven't been covered much by Armless Octopus and the like, look interesting and I think that they deserve to be mentioned...and that's why I have brought them up.

I haven't tried them but both Corrupted and Gamerbots are on my list to try out. They both have a 3.8 or better star rating on the marketplace (yes, I know that those ratings don't mean much) and seem like they would be fun.

Maybe a recommendation thread in the xbox forum should be made...and just keep a list of drops here in the deal section.

EDIT: I forgot, got the demos for Chester and REVOLVER360 and both are really fun. I'd recommend checking out the demos for both...Chester is a definite purchase and I'll probably get REVOLVER with my xbox reward points that I have coming in.

How about this, then: Leave the recommended/positively reviewed ones where they are and just put the iffy ones under a spoiler tag?
