Henshin a go-go, baby!
Still generally have no interest in getting one of these (I have my actual NES in case I really want to play it). That all said, I wouldn't mind picking one up to have and play with when the desire to go down memory/nostalgia lane comes on.
Problem is the lion's share of these things are being bought by scalpers - which just stinks. Absolutely no way would I ever pay more than MSRP. As someone with a real job, and a modicum of interest/curiosity but a level-headed practicality, I am NOT waiting in a line at 5am to pick this up, nor do I see any justifiable reason to fall prey to Nintendo's senseless business tactics.
Nintendo is doing its customers no favors in pulling this kind of garbage, and I suppose I'm just now old enough (and wise enough) to refuse to let them string me up like this. For me, either Nintendo gets its s&#t together and stocks this item the way it easily can AND should, or I'll just keep throwing my money against its competition, Sony's PS4 and Sony's and Microsoft's back catalog, which frankly I see as better value, especially when I don't have to deal with the ridiculous hassle (and Nintendo's scalper community's hustling).
I understand Nintendo wants to generate interest, but at some point, it SHOULD care about pleasing its core customers who pay to keep it in business. An easy pre-order opportunity for its core Wii U base (via their emails- which Nintendo HAD) would have been a nice gesture, but this is Nintendo - who I increasingly feel couldn't give two f**ks about its customers.
This is in part why the company keeps bleeding core players every generation. I hope they know some of their supporters (like me) are reaching a threshold point. I can more easily spend my money on other games and other experiences, so here's hoping Nintendo corrects some of its incredibly hostile/unkind tactics.
To begin with, it can STOCK this freaking item so its loyalists like me can actually get one without missing work, fighting scalpers, or doing obscenely ridiculous things. We just want to play the games, Big N. Stop. Being. A dick.
