Indeed.

I hunted the great Pumpamakinae Fraturnus, and returned with bounty.

Said spoils are now going to earn me a Psychonauts DVD.

Ok, I do want this game but there's also like a BAJLILLION and 3 other games I want also.

Think this will be a game you could find anywhere for $20 in a few months? Or is this going to disappear?

With me moving in a few days, the holidays approaching, and other game wants..I don't have the extra $$ for that right now. (Though with freebie sites, it helps!)

Really hope it's everywhere for like $20 in a few months,

I'm not sure which feeling is stronger - my respect for your unreasonable optimism, or my patronising feeling of being sorry for you missing out on the genius that is Zack & Wiki.

I want this game, but there's also quite a few other games I have interest in. Plus with me moving this week.. I'm not gonna have the extra money to buy just AAAANY game.

But I'm working on a few free games (

Played through the first area and I think I got everything in all of them but I'm going to double check levels. Though it only says something like 70% complete (Last I checked anyways)? Do more stages open up in the first area later? Kindof curious and want to make sure I didn't forget anything.

Great game though. Though some of the choices you have to make are quite risky at times. It's given me a better idea on how the game works, but it will still be hard for me to send Zack into risky conditions as anything except a 'last choice' option.

Yeah, I have 70% also. I'm pretty sure I had 70% prior to mastering the levels and maxing out my HQ, because I still have one left that I haven't maxed out.

There is the little guy that goes treasure hunting if you pay him. Maybe he digs up new levels.

This game rocks,m BTW.

Spoilered just in case (nothing puzzle-specific), re: 70% completion:
There are hidden stages that show up after beating the game, so you can't get 100% on the first time through.

Botticus, if you beat the damn game, please tell me:

HOW THE HELL DO YOU THROW THE ANCHOR DURING THE BATTLE WITH BARBAROS (when he's a giant with alligators for arms). I know exactly what to do later (because afterwards, you're all out of ammo, and I've solved that, but got killed) - yet the first time I played I did something that I guess accidentally threw the anchor at one of Barbaros' arms... I can not figure out what the hell it takes to throw it (I just spin it right round), and that's mad annoying...

Thanks, that's what I was looking to hear.

Ha, I knew I should have clarified that I've come nowhere near beating the game. I just picked up that nugget from someone on GAF who had. I wish I had time to beat it. :whistle2:(

That's the problem. You do something that looks fairly innocuous, like flipping a switch or walking in a given direction, and half a dozen Rube Goldbergian sequences later, you're a perforated pancake.

Remember Indiana Jones? Even stepping in light could get him killed.

Welcome to his world.

a blast so far to play with a friend, though wiki is annoying and the music box sequences are difficult
for the most part, the controls feel right and the puzzle solutions make sense rather than feeling contrived.

Judging from the music box comment you are in the first half of the game. The best news is that the puzzles improve immensley with time, and become an integral part of certain story elements. I think Z&W's approach to puzzles is overlooked in about 80% of adventure games, because, really, the title is brilliant because of them.

Now, I'll be spinnin' the you know what, trying to throw it.

I picked this game up last night at GameCrazy and got the nifty puzzle pre-order bonus with it, since no one pre-ordered the game there (or bought the game it seems). I've gotten through the first three levels, and the game's friggin' awesome; like everyone else has said, this is the one game that really can't be replicated on any other platform. I'm hoping that I can get it done before the Fire Emblem/SMG tidal wave, which may be a problem since I also have Ratchet and Clank coming in the mail soon. =/

I really hope this game does reasonably well at retail, especially since it's a *good* original third party title for the Wii.

Just finished it at 21:53. I had to cheat to get past the last two levels or I would have never picked the game up again. Yeah, it can get that frustrating. Also the ending is really good.

Scrub, please, man... How do you
THROW the damn anchor?

I did it the first time by accident, I just can't do it, and I've already tried to play through the stage about five times...

I'm sure this was covered in a previous post, but I'm having a hard time finding it... Is there a way to tell if something has multiple solutions? I know there's the HQ score, but it seems like speed is a factor with that.

New rule at my house: My son is not allowed to play past the point in the game at which I am at. Otherwise, he spends the whole time looking over my shoulder telling me what to do.

Also,

No, apart from playing it again. HQ score is not related to speed - it's only guided by whether or not you got something on the first try. More often than not, it is puzzle oriented (i.e. you use the right stuff), although at times it relies on your efficiency with the minigames (fishing, etc).

The multiple-solutions thing is best discovered if you play things with an open mind, or by calling your good friends that are playing the game and asking them how they beat it.

There are certain levels that appear to be quite open-ended with much stuff that isn't used in the solution (
Lake of Fire
) however it isn't really known whether or not an alternative solution is possible, especially in light of the fact that the game provides more equipment than necessary at times. Last but not least, careful observation of the items checklist on the bookshelf can shed some insight into missing pieces of the puzzle that you happened to leave behind.

Swing the wiimote around to get the anchor spinning then when it's up to speed just calmly point the wiimote at Barbaros and hold it there until it activates the cutscene.

:(
No, and I never would have gotten that on my own. I would have kept wildly swinging my wiimote in all directions.

I don't mind the "try or die" aspect but if you are going to implement it you really need a better hint system.

Alright, I give up on the boss of the fire level.

I've moved all the totems around, gotten the partial stairs on the hammer, rocked the baby dragon so he's happy, had him eat fire so he's happy, but I don't see any thing else available to me to do anything else. Figure one of the dragons has to light the statues, but color me uninformed on how to take any other actions.

Is it just me or is it odd that this of all games does not have an FAQ on GameFAQs yet?

So you need to
light the statues located around the level? if so then look at the statue and then look at your friend who is sitting next to you. Remember that you can interact with him. If you want exact details let me know.
I might.
I've checked out the statues, but within that view, the baby dragon isn't selectable.

Alright, here are the details in layers in case you don't want all of it.

1.
Take the baby dragon to eat fire.
2.
Click on the pink statue. You will see the baby sitting in front of the statue.
3.
Pull on his tail

Christ... I guess I didn't look hard enough with my pointer.

Thanks Scrub.

I'm really bitter because I wasted two dolls on the worst clues they could have provided, and apparently I didn't quit at the right time to get them back.

Unsurprisingly, I'm stuck immediately after that solution, but I'll take a few cracks at it before coming back for more help.

i've spent the last three days on the haunted pictures level. the thing i forgot about was
being able to flip the broom
. i'm so stupid. i gave in and used the hint just to find that out.
Man I can't wait to see the speed runs for this game.
Definitely agree with this statement. Not just for the single game, but individual levels as well. I beat one level in about 3 minutes in the first area on a second try (best score too). So, I'm assuming some of these levels can be done in under a minute. Boss fights under 2.

I haven't read much in this thread, so I apologize in advance :)

I'm most likely getting this thanks to Points2Shop (PM me if your interested, BTW!).
How's the co-op in this game? If I remember correctly up to 4 people can play this?
Has anyone done this with 1-3 other people? Does it make it for fun, or is it more confusing?

I'm loving a lot of co-op games coming out, and I'd love to know if this will be fun to play with someone else.
With regard to using the right stuff, does different solutions yield different HQ scores?
Since it wasn't answered, I'll say yes. Though I don't know how many stages allow for this.

The first place I noticed this was in the
first forest area
. The stage there, while I don't remember the name, had
a giant fish in that little lake with a goblin sleeping by the fishing pole
.

In that stage you seemed to of had
two options. One being to fish out the giant fish which I hear you're able to get with one session of fishing since you can only fish for so long. That will give you around 120k points in total. The other option is to blow up the fish with the frog bomb, which I won't say how unless asked. It's something I found out completely on accident and it wound up giving me around 170k points in the end
.

The other players can draw on the screen or point to locations of interest. This allows other people to help you solve the puzzles by showing you where to go, what to pick up, etc. But player one is still the only one who is actually controlling anything.

There's a rumor that true co-op may be included in...ahem...the sequel.

I think adventure games are fine without co-op. I hate to see co-op put in just for the sake of saying you have co-op. Focus on making the single player experience as strong as possible.
With regard to using the right stuff, does different solutions yield different HQ scores?
Certainly. The two methods of beating the forest level boss will yield EXTREME differences in the points used. Ask if you need more info, but I believe I wrote it up above.

I beat the game last night, thanks to Scrub's help. That was the only time I sought help outside the game, and was the only time that Wiimote controls weren't "self explanatory."

I'm going to go get fried chicken, because I really want some.
I'm going to go get fried chicken, because I really want some.
OK, this is sad. I read that sentence and immediately started plotting out what Zack would have to do to obtain some fried chicken.

i was able to tromp through the haunted levels relatively quicly. only a few hick ups. and there was some awsome thinking out of the box moments. the story is getting more and more fun. but i'm going to give myself a break before i get started on what's next.
It's not really good.
Now that people have some actual playing experience on the game, let's hope word-of-mouth works its magic. Pre-release hype and post-release hype are two totally different beasts.
