did you really put "getting rare" in the title to get people on CAG to buy the game?

FACEPALM.jpg
Nope. Just based on user comments.
The alternate way is
when you start, grab the worm first and then head towards the fountain. Once you click the fountain, the frog will appear. As soon as he appears you drop the worm by the fountain slide entrance and from there on out it should be pretty simple to figure out.
Out of curiosity, what is the regular way to beat that stage? When I did it, I seem to have followed what you said
I threw the frog bomb down the slide to knock out the guardian, grabbed the worm, then continued to beat the stage.
. I did a quick search of the thread, but didn't see where it was first mentioned.

I suggest that at least the level name or number should be non spoiled, since all i see are spoiler marks and im not sure if ive passed that area yet. Its pretty interesting to read up on alternative ways to win afterall.

You know, if you don't give a shit about the game, the system, and our discussions about it....is there a reason you're in the thread, other than to look like an arrogant prick?

How much of a drama queen do you have to be to go into a thread that's covering something you don't have and don't care about, just to attempt to stir up trouble by being a prickish whore?

I mean, guys, seriously. You can go to tmz.com or something if you want to pretend you're Paris Hilton too.

The most ironic part is that you're a bunch of the same bitches who kept saying "What did LinkinPrime do wrong?" a few weeks ago when he started editting titles in here.

If you don't like the system and aren't getting games for it, what is the goddamn point? I mean, don't you all have some big releases yourselves to go play?

I'm sorry your tiny balls chaff up against your tiny pants, and it causes you to have to be a retarded troll in a forum for a system you don't own or care to own. But maybe you should use some of the lotion you're planning on using for a masturbatory-athon later tonight, and just rub it on your tiny sac.

Tabbed browsing.

What question?

Why am I in this thread?

I like to read, and stay informed about what is going on in the current happenings of the video game world and not just limit myself to games or systems I own.

I've been reading this thread for awhile now, and him changing to title to "Getting RARE!" I thought was funny.

I'm not sure who you're referring to, and I hope we are on better terms than that  but I was reading the thread because I'm interested in the game. but the "getting rare" thing is fucking ridiculous. It's just a very plant-ish thing to write. Not accusing the OP of being a plant, but c'mon, this game is not going to be rare. It's a full game by capcom, probably had a regular budget, and has a good following.

There's just no need to cause alarm and make people feel like they have to run out and buy it right away or risk never playing it.

anything else about linkinprime (definitely a plant  ) or whatever, I dunno about...
It's funny you bring this up, because you can't prove any of it. Neither can I, neither can anyone else in this thread. It would take Capcom employees to do that, and I'm really doubting anyone here is one of those.

Now then, barring the obvious subjectivity of your post, there's absolutely no way for anyone right now to figure out whether or not the game is rare. What we can say is that it's probably under the radar. It has no real advertising, and I'm going to guess the title/cover art does more to repulse people than to attract them.

Beyond that, Capcom is synonymous with things like Street Fighter, Megaman, and Devil May Cry (and now, Dead Rising). There's no way this game got the same amount of attention that those franchises did, because then they might actually have had the cash to pay for a commercial. I will say that it does seem like they took some time and put in a lot of effort, but there's no way it is comparable to their bigger titles.

Word of mouth might cause the game to become rare. Or Capcom might release another 100K copies.

The title is a bit sensationalistic, that much I can agree to. But everything else after that is nothing but opinion, a collection of hypothetical what-ifs, and anecdotal "well wtf I saw like 409580294802398432 at my Walmart" stories.

Let's get back to the topic at hand. The game is excellent, it's worth it to any adventure gamer to play, it uses the tech well, looks good, and obviously had some polish/attention applied to it, meaning Capcom went a bit above and beyond the shovelware crap that's all over the system. If you want a unique and fun game, you ought to pick it up.

With all the constant "omfg Wii has no games" and other bullshit rhetoric I see all over the place, to pass up a genuinely good game with a well-executed interface really makes me wonder.

It's rare because it's hard to find on shelves. You should read back through this thread to see what Strell went through just to get a copy. I haven't seen it at any retailer I've been to since it released...except for the one I found and purchased (1 of 3 they had ordered for release). Hopefully, Capcom is sitting on a pile of them and the retailers have now woken up to the fact that they should have ordered much, much more and are doing so as we speak type.

That was a great post, BTW. Strell is my favorite rantician.

Zen Davis - Nintendo
The Mana Knight - Sony

I played it at my cousin's.
It is really great the small time I spent it with.
I've seen it at every store so I'm in no hurry to get it though.

Wii has been upgraded from 'almost no games' to 'it's got a few'.

Meh. The person I quoted had that so I didn't really think to put the level. It's called Fountain Guardian.

. I did a quick search of the thread, but didn't see where it was first mentioned.
Normal way -
Fishing up the guardian using the fishing rod next to the sleeping goblin that you knock out with a bomb by sending the bomb down the fountain. Which can be tough to get full points fishing up the guardian in one go. (Yields a max of around 120k HQ)

Alternate way -
Sending the frog down the fountain by dropping a worm in front of the fountain entrance. Then turn it into the bomb to throw into the little lake where the guardian resides at the bottom of the fountain via the stone pedistal so the guardian explodes. (Yields a max of around 160k HQ)

It sounds like you did it the normal way since you said you
threw the bomb down the fountain. The guardian is the giant fish, not the goblin sleeping next to the fishing rod.
Regardless though, a basic summary of both solutions are given if you are able to make sense out of them.

Ah. I misunderstood who was the guardian, and just assumed it was the goblin. Regarding the alternate method,
couldn't you just take the bomb with you down the vine and throw it in the lake, without needing the worm? Or does the frog eat the worm, and then the fish eats the frog bomb in turn (or something like that)?
Regardless, I'll have to try this out when I get home. Thanks for explaining that to me, I probably would never have known that this stage had an alternate solution, it being an early stage and all.

It's the Eggplant Wizard from the Captain N cartoon.

However, in this civil war, I'm with Purple Tentacle.

/greatest adventure game ever

I just beat the game.

I did not use any oracle dolls or platinum tickets.

I died 64 times.

Zack and Wiki was fucking amazing. It was extremely good. Man when I started thinking outside of the box in some levels and then I did something and it worked. This game pays off. The ending was great. I love this game.

Please if you haven't bought it then go buy it.

I really want this game to do good.

This game was finally in stock at my TRU. So i used my 10 dollar gift card from the spend 75 bucks or more coupon with GH III and picked up Z & W and reserved mario galaxy for that 25 dollar gift card deal. Hopefully that pans out and I will get the wii zappeer and if i am feeling zappy enough ill get ghost squad. Im glad i could find this game to show my support

That isn't possible since
bombs are two-handed items. So basically the frog has to eat the worm and then slide on down the fountain to get to the platform below where you started out.

Makes sense. Now I know why I sometimes hold items, and drop them other times when I try to interact with the stage. I never actually noticed, nor questioned why that happened with some items and not others .

 I died about 10 times on that level.

- Go get the shovel that is on the ice.
- save the little guy buried in the snow.
- ring your bell to turn him into a block.
- put the block on the section by the broken ladder.
- go back and get the shovel
- climb up the broken ladder and shovel the snow onto the ice.
- walk onto the snow covered ice making sure to leave some footprints
- go stand on the platform under the broken ladder and wait for the robot to sweep.
- watch animation and nab your treasure.
I am having trouble with the first ice stage, after we make the water turn to ice we don't know what to do any help would be accepted.
The one with the crazed mechanical gardener (with the clock) or the one with the two lion heads (Ice Key)?

If it's the Ice Key:
There should be two water troughs on the ground - a left one and a right one. On the right side of the room is a set of three doors, each door a different color (green, blue, gray). Make a note of the order they are in. Then go to the left trough and move around the pieces until the colors are match the order of the doors.

After this, pull that switch a few times. What should happen on the right trough eventually is two things: 1) water will pour into it, and 2) the second lion head will freeze it. You can then pick up the frozen "ice rod" (or stick, I can't remember the exact word). Put it in the left trough - you'll notice it doesn't match up with all the shapes - it's just the "middle," so to speak. Don't worry about this.

Create a second rod and pick it up. Now, if you look at the left trough, you'll see a beam of light. You can use the second ice rod to focus the beam into the left trough. This causes the first rod to melt, which will then fill the entire shape of the key. Then, use the switch in the middle of the room a few more times until the lion head freezes it. You can then pick it up, and it's now an ice key instead of just a rod.

Then just use it in the doors (again, make sure you matched up the colors!) and you're all set.

If it's the gardener level (and don't spoil it if not!):
I loved this level, personally.

You'll walk into the garden and learn that the gardener goes out at the stroke of 12 and sweeps up your footprints. To avoid being killed by him, you have two options: 1) run onto a platform so that don't leave foot prints, meaning he won't come after you, or 2) shake a tree, causing snow to fall down, which will cover your footprints. Also, make note that if he comes out to clean up footprints and you start moving, he WILL find you. HOWEVER, if you start moving after he starts walking back to his starting point, he won't come after you. This is useful information to know, since it will let you move around more without fear of dying.

Go to the middle/left structure with the ladder. Crawl up it and talk to Johnny Styles in the pot. After he leaves, throw the pot, get the money. Go all the way to the right side of the screen to find the umbrella. Make your back to your starting point. Press 2 to open the umbrella, and examine the lion statue. There's a button on it - press it WITH THE OPEN UMBRELLA. The lion head will freeze all of the water in the stage.

Now that the water is frozen, you can walk out onto the island where the shovel is. Go grab it - MAKE SURE YOU WALK OFF THE SNOW AND ONTO THE ICE BEFORE THE GARDENER COMES BACK. He WILL try to come out to the island, but it will show him breaking through the ice. It's shallow enough, however, that he'll be able to come out there, so you need to be on the ice so he won't find you.

Use the shovel to dig out the little pirate goon dude (most likely will need to shake the tree to survive a few times around here). Use the bell to turn him into a pirate totem. Pick up the totem and walk over to the right side of the screen, where there's a structure with a broken ladder. You can put the Goon Totem in it. Go grab the shovel and climb up on that ladder, and you'll see a small pile of snow. Use the shovel on it - you'll notice it makes a pile on the frozen pond below. Drop the shovel and walk out onto that pile, making footprints.

Then, move out of the way and let the gardener fall through. Once he's gone, you can get the treasure without any problem.

it's the Eggplant Wizard from Kid Icarus. (Captain N? wtf? might as well say mario is a character from Mario Teaches Typing.)

People who do not have this game are ruining this thread, people that DO have this game make this thread awesome by telling everyone of their opinion which happens to be extremely positive across the damn board.

It's been a while since I've seen a "no-name" 3rd party title have this effect on people. In fact, most of us (speaking of myself here) had no idea as to what the fuck we should expect. When it comes to Z&W, everyone's reaction is something among the lines of "MEGATOOOOOOON!"

Not sure what to make of it, other than that my side in the civil war is the uber-correct one.

I do want to make a coupe of points:

Everyone in the jungle or ice worlds, during your first playthrough... I know the game appears awesome to you, but I'd like to point out that the game doesn't really pull out the big guns until you beat the third world. You will know what I mean imediately, and I'm jealous that you still have that majestic experience ahead of you.

I'm telling everyone about this one - it's too good, and judging from your responses, its appeal is "almost universal." I kindly suggest you do the same.

Those that don't have a Wii or the game - my Wii is getting repaired and man does it suck to be you. I know first-hand now. Sucks bad. You should fix it, word is the Wiis are available.

I am both extremely thrilled and very dissapointed in this game's replay mode. (minor non-story spoilers following...)

I love the idea of having secret treasure chests to find that only appear after you've beaten the game, but I HATE the fact that in order to get them you have to do seamingly arbitrary and random tasks. Apparenly there are "lore scrolls," i.e. clues or riddles about what these tasks are that you must perform, which is an absolutely brilliant idea, but the problem is these lore scrolls only appear by chance when sending that rabbit on treasure hunts (something that isn't explained at all in-game or manual that you pretty much have to discover by sheer dumb luck, or hear about it elsewhere like I did). Why the designer's make you waste so much time and money unlocking these is an amazingly awful design choice as they should, by nature, unlock along with the secret treasures they aim to help you find. I mean it's a scavenger hunt. The clues and treasures go together. Why add such an unneccesary step to obtain even the clues?
How long is the game?
Both Scrub and I took 21 hours to beat it... Supposedly, however, the game isn't over. And truth be told, I'm planning on continuing to play it.

Every level that you beat first time around will have a "complete" rating of 70% - that is for a reason, and if you're obsessive/compulsive like me, sounds like the game will have about 5 to 10 more hours of good solid gameplay.

In other words, 20 hours guaranteed, 30 hours guaranteed unless you're lazy and unmotivated.

We all mean it, btw, this game is AMAZING.

As much as I like this game, I must say I like MLB Power Pros more, which I promise you IS NOT A BAD THING!!!

We are seriously getting hit with way to many good games at 1 time (as much as I liked the earlier Wii games, what a shock to say that line). There are so many interesting games coming out at 1 time.

I still want Battalion Wars, Mario Galaxy, RE Umbrella Chronicles, Ghost Squad, Fire Emblem, Rayman 2 and Guitar Hero III, but hell I don't have the time.

Edit: That's not even mentioning the Disney and Barbie Princess line of games that is coming out.

Edit 2: What is Octomania? I saw it on Gamespot and it says it is a puzzle game.

Edit 3: Sonic and Mario at the Olympic Games PLUS Asterix at the Olympic Games!!! We are in heaven.

Oh yeah and the Simpsons Game and Geometry Wars Galaxies and Manhunt 2.

Luckily for my wallet I can wait for a price drop on some of those or just rent them.

So.. re: fire boss level, let me know if I'm on the right track.

I've elevated the hammer, lit all the statues to fill up the hanging bucket. Do I need to provoke the dragon into spitting a fireball at me while standing at the top of the ladder on the hammer, causing it to fall? If not, I'm clueless. I attempted this once, but got toasted, so I'm assuming I'm either wrong or there's some timing involved and I just screwed up.
