Damn you, Johnny Ace!

What is the purpose of Playboy-quality looks when WWE's present marketing strategy is to kids? (And if anyone says, "Well, Chase, in 5-10 years those kids will be teens," I will kick you in the balls for that is a bullshit reason.)

Honestly, though, I'm not a considerable fan of female pro wrestling. However, they definitely should have a place in any pro wrestling promotion. It's a shame that some people in WWE prefer looks over ability. That is one reason why a lot of WWE's audience doesn't give a shit about their "Divas." This said, I do respect people like Lioness Asuka and Chigusa Nagayo (the Crush Gals), Manami Toyota, and other highly-talented female pro wrestlers.

And if WWE has had this Playboy standard, I wonder about a few things. I understand the hiring of Ashley Masaro, as she was essentially the only person in her "season" of the Diva Search that had any personality. But one must wonder about the hiring of Jillian Hall. But hey, this is just one man's opinion.

Edit: And yes, I know that Jillian started off as a pro wrestler in the Indies. If anyone has any links to Jillian putting on good matches, please post them. From what I've seen over the years, she's terrible--at best.

I read that yesterday...and then googled that Sexy Lady wrestler

Her without her mask = me talking to her and trying to Fuck
Her with her mask = .....disgusting

She's not "WWE" hot...but she's certainly not one of those women that you act like you're invisible when you see her at the bar and you're drunk but still sober enough that no matter how good the pussy might be...you still ain't touching it!

She looked geniune and slightly above average. Nothing wrong with that!

I give her a 6/10

Do any of the "good" American indies or Japanese promotions have full-length, free online video shows? All I can find are 8 minute podcasts with a clipped match or two.

Reaction thoughts -

Why is the show starting off JUST LIKE IMPACT, with a terrible Jeff Hardy-Abyss brawl. Jeff swearing revenge before thwacking Abyss with a chair was some poetic justice for Jeff. Then he climbed a ladder, took off his shirt, and did his little yell and taunt as if he was in in a match as opposed to a brawl with a guy who tried to gut his friend. Also, why is everything yellow? I guess Xplosion is the blue show, this is the yellow show, and Impact's the show that's lit in such a way that human beings can see it easily.

Then they put over the importance of the world title and did a WWE-esque video of close-ups on the TNA World title. It's a shame the belt doesn't really have the depth to it to really look awesome in those shots like the World Heavyweight Title does when WWE does the exact same thing.

The Magnus video ruled. Hopefully they show it on Impact so he has a chance to get over on the A show. They ran down his acting career, and his run as an IWGP and TNA Tag champ that I'd forgotten. They also covered his present team with Desmond, which I love watching on Xplosion. Foley's promo about Ric was great - he did a fine job explaining just why he's so involved with this deal with Flair and talked about getting a tryout in WCW due to him, which I didn't know before.

The deal with the Knockouts title was silly. Hearing Rayne talk about coming to TNA was sadly funny. Washing out the Impact footage just looks weird. TNA seems obsessed with making things look different as opposed to GOOD. Blue lighting for Xplosion, unique, but terrible-looking. Ditto with the wacky yellow lighting for the Jeff-Abyss deal at the beginning of Reaction, and the shots of their Impact brawl on monitors.

Devon's promo was good, but I'm pretty sure it was mostly like his last one - YOU SHOULDA KILLED US, BUT YA DIDN'T AND NOW WE'RE GONNA COME AFTER YA. Angle and Anderson's deal was good. One thing I noticed about the end credits was the song containing - NOTHING MAKES SENSE TO ME ANYMORE, which sure sums up TNA's booking nicely.

Lucha Libre USA is now down to doing a 0.006 rating. Their NC taping could be their last.

TNA needs more POOOOOOUUUUUUUUUNCE!!!!!!!!!

Period.

Homicide is gone from TNA. This is great news for me.

I forgot he was still with them. He hasn't been on TV in months except as part of a group in a pull-apart awhile back.

Random picture time. I don't know, I just found it.

I was thinking of going to ROH tomorrow night, but I may not. Any matches or feuds that scream "GO NOW!"?

New Japan puts most of their matches up on YouTube. If you can't find something, like the recently concluded G1 CLIMAX, just search YouTube.

To simplify the process, here are a few of my favorite YouTube users that constantly upload new (and old) puro.

Well, I looked up the August 20th card, and the main event is Aries-Delirious in a Steel Cage. That should be good. :)

If ROH came to Colorado, I'd definitely go just to see their roster perform or Cornette speak. Personally, I'm a fan of Aries, Omega, Generico, Kings of Wrestling (Castagnoli-Hero), and Cabana, and would love to see them in-person.

Perhaps the most poignant picture yet. It's really hard to have a sense of humor about BP fucking over people like they have the past 4 months, and this idea of waiving a right to sue is downright maniacal.

By the same token, TNA is really that bad that the picture is hilarious.

Nice find guyver.

As if the Nexus angle needed more help imploding, reports are surfacing that the injury that Skip Sheffield suffered at a house show was a broken ankle. Obviously, that'll lead to missing some time.

You know, at this point, can we just get rid of everyone not named Wade Barrett and forget this ever happened? Or at least start over with Husky, Hennig, Kaval, and Riley? Barrett leading those guys? I'd watch that.

Anyway, this sucks. I realize I was one of the few that liked Sheffield, and they finally got him into that 'guy who destroys people' role that he excelled in. Any time off is going to kill all of his momentum for both him and the Nexus angle, since he was easily positioned as the number 2 guy behind Barrett.

I hope they work the Sheffield injury into a Daniel Bryan angle. Bring back the heel hook for DB and give hi submissions even more credibility.

I like Skip as well. I didn't like the guy on NXT with that stupid Cornfed redneck gimmick he had. He plays that monster heel that just destroys everyone in his path very well. I see Skip sticking around injury or not. Skip and Barret are really the only two Nexus members I see sticking around after this angle is over.

Given that he probably can't walk very well on it, it would have to be a phantom injury via heel hook, which I'd be fine with. I don't know if they'd let him get that move over that well though - it IS one of Michelle McCool's finishers after all.

I remember this and a nearby UHF station that had NWA on every evening (they showed the same episode every day). Those were back in the days when you had to wait a week for the PPV results and I would go to the newstand weekly to pick up the latest Apter mag. Man, things sure have changed a lot.

If anyone deserves a tribute thread it is Skandor.

I think that was a movie starring Weird Al Yankovic.

Curious to see how Del Rio's finisher looks on someone besides Rey, because the slam to set up the arm breaker looked/sounded awesome.

Alberto and Rey's promo exchange was pretty good, largely due to Del Rio, who has this character down pat on the mic. Dolph and Kofi was every match they've ever had. Striker was less annoying than usual with his Vickie praise, and then he renamed the Thesz press to the Kingston press. So yeah, Fuck him for that. Dolph destroying Kofi after the match with the sleeper and then a delayed stomp that they played up very well helped make him look strong. It's not perfect booking since Kofi looked kinda weak, but at least it's better than last week, where the two guys feuding over the IC title jobbed to other, bigger-named stars.

The wacky Hornswoggle skit was okay - he looked funny as a plant. A green plant, not like a wrestling plant ala the stunt granny. Kelly and Show vs. Luke and Serena was okay. Loved Serena doing a gutbuster as an homage to Punk's GTS, and their post-match hug was just the right amount of creepy.

Kane's promo was pretty awesome. They found a way to have it make some semblance of sense even by using WWE's wacky canon for the two. The unmasking deal they referenced was nice because even though the 2000 unmasking didn't lead to him being unmasked forever (which was '03), it was still the first time his face was shown unmasked, and it made sense because 'Taker was the man who did it, which was the key to his story.

Drew vs. Christian in match 35 of their best of 4,000 series was about as good as I expected. I loved the use of the coverless ringside barricade and then later a Codebreaker with the arm instead of the head to destroy Christian's arm, and yet Drew still won because Christian was simply too tenacious. This being yet another rematch on the show didn't do much to help the SMACKDOWN ALWAYS FEELS LIKE A RERUN issues that have plagued the show for a while. Thankfully, this match was set apart because Cody was fantastic on commentary and formed a new alliance with Drew after the match by destroying Christian. I demand that Cody come out with a YES, I AM DASHING button on his new, swank-looking suit. Or better yet, rather than ruin his suit, put it on Grisham's, or put the DASHING one on his suit and one that says NOT DASHING on Todd's.

Alberto Del Rio vs. Rey made Alberto into a star, which is seemingly impossible since the match didn't last eight years. His elaborate intro is incredible - it might wear thin after a while, but for a first week deal, it was pretty awesome. The personal ring announcer was a great little touch that added an extra layer of smarminess, and the Rolls Royce looked incredible. Somewhat surprised that Del Rio actually drove himself out there, but I suppose that sets this intro further apart from JBL's, so it might not be too bad a thing.

Alberto's gold and silver/white gear looks swank. His offense looked pretty good, and I loved the enziguri to the back of the arm instead of the head. Rey hitting a running buzzsaw kick was pretty sweet too. The flying cross armbreaker looked good, and allowed him to win clean and genuinely look better than Rey as opposed to getting a tainted win ala Carlito over Cena when he beat Cena in his SD debut. I also got a bit of a kick out of Rey vs. Dos Caras Jr. closing out Friday Night SmackDown right before Lucha Libre USA.

I just want to point out, if you've never seen that set in person, it's really freakin' cool. You can see in that picture of Punk that the wavy-entrance part is actually some kind of metal grating that magically plays video. The giant pillar thing to the left is really just some kind of cloth with what look like tiny little Christmas lights every few centimeters. Every time I see those things play video but I know what they're really made of it kind of blows my mind a little.

Also, the sheer intensity of the pyro is downright stupid. This was one of my favorite moments of my life; I was sitting through the pyro all night and it still kicked my ass so hard I nearly dropped my camera.

Scored some free tickets to ROH, so I went tonight. I haven't followed ROH in ages, so I didn't know some folks, but was familiar with some (Dark City Fight Club), and not others.

Delirious/Aries in the cage was pretty enjoyable match.
Steve Corino w/ Kevin Steen are excellent. I could do without thumbs up the ass as a modified abdominal stretch, but his facial expressions are outstanding, his ability to work the crowd incredible. Corino would never work well in WWE, but he is on fire in ROH.

The other matches were ok. Nothing really stands out as incredible, but it was a fun show overall. And it was my first sojourn to the ECW Arena, which is a good bit nicer than I had imagined.

No doubt. Talk about savvy product placement, I remember the dipping tobacco logo on the WCCW ring.

Jim Ross wrote about Akbar today. A total must read: http://www.jrsbarbq....iend-and-mentor
