It was started by Cheddaz, who was baninated.

Why was he banned? Too many Chacrana turd jokes? That's what I'm aiming for.

I assume the thread title contains some sort of minor FFXIII spoiler (in addition to its reference to Cheddahz aborted comeback attempt #9984), and I would get upset, only I don't care.

We should dedicate this thread to looking ahead to Dragon Quest XIII: Coming to Japanese mobile phones in 2016!

I thought this was funny:
"DQ 10 also coming to NES"
http://kyoko-np.net/2011090601.html

first screen shot:
You should connect to internet and find friends to fight together with online!

second screen shot:
Hey asshole, there's no fucking way the defense down spell would work on a liquid metal!

If by spoiler you mean something that happens within maybe the first hour of FFXIII, then yes I guess it's a spoiler, haha. Basically anyone who talks about Hope is probably going to bring it up though, since it basically defines his character.
Like 4 characters die in the XIII-2 trailers, lol. wtf square...
I'm not so much on media blackout for XIII-2 as I am not even able to give a shit anymore, but I still have to know if it's anyone that we know from XIII. I don't care who bites it as long as one of them is Yuj.
I hope everybody in XIII-2 dies.

It's the only way to ensure they don't make another one.
Na, that will lead directly into XIII-3, it will turn out that all XIII-2 was actually a shared dream, and everyone's deaths were actually them re-awakening into the real world (i.e. the world in Versus XIII).

my impressions of the XIII-2 trailers for those who don't care/don't want spoilers:

 • dialogue/narrative taking a nose dive
 • combat/side stuff looks super fun
so maybe it will be the next X-2, except it's actually taking its narrative seriously which may not turn out so well.

it is too early to tell though, so who knows. i just wasn't impressed by the cutscene production, it looked very stiff and PS2 like compared to the original XIII.

That's because
it's all realtime now. CG costs too much money.

Are you talking about the last thread that got locked or the one that cheddahz made? The cheddahz one is self-explanatory, but the last thread... oh man...

They should do that and just release Versus already as XIII-3.
So did you guys hear about the Persona 4 anime?
Yeah.
Super bored with Crimson Gem Saga right now. Might just throw it back on Goozex and start something else.
Yeah, I got a few hours in and found it extremely bland and boring. I don't mind a RPG being simple as long as it's got some charm, but CGS doesn't.

i started playing rune factory 3 and was all into it...

but then all of a sudden, i realized i had no idea what happened in the last minute. that was because i fell asleep without realizing it.

You were talking to Karina

Since Sentai is bring it over it means we won't have the same voice actor as the game :(

It's really pretty, but that's about it. It's as painfully standard as RPGs come. Between this and Magna Carta 2 being my second-least-favorite RPG this gen, I might just avoid KRPGs wholesale in the future if any more ever get localized.

Yeah, and this pretty much confirms that I won't be purchasing them. Doubly so if they only release it on DVD instead of BD.

I'll believe that when I see it (you not buying it that is). ;)

What's the time frame after release that I have to wait in order to prove you wrong? Because I will. Taking bets, gentlemen, place your bets here.

There's no time frame. If you ever own it, I win. :D

The only way you win is to literally perish from this Earth without ever having purchased it. ;)
You were talking to Karina
ha!

but actually i was doing one of the requests for the (angry) lady at the blacksmith.
she got sick and gave a list of stuff i was supposed to sell. even though this is where i fell asleep, i do remember that i had to memorize prices for all the items and i got it right despite not being awake.

Even with these conditions, I'd still say I have a really good chance of winning. No Atlus VAs + BD = no buy!

The IGN review of Dark Souls makes me want to cancel my pre-order. Sounds like the game has ventured into the unfair territory.

Yeah, the review made it sound rough. I can appreciate a challenge (at times) but for the most part I play video games to relax and have fun. I am staying way the hell away from that game.

Something occurred in Etrian Odyssey III today that I kinda wasn't expecting (spoilers for B11F):
I have to choose a side now?!

Right now, although I'm not too crazy about his "sealing away the evil rather than defeating it" angle, I'm leaning towards doing the Abyssal King's mission, even though he's a dick who tried to kill my guild before. At least his intentions seem more straightforward than the Senatus'; the old lady's excitement over finding the lost city is a bit suspicious, and I'm still not sure what to make of the princess.

I'm fine with difficult games, but being difficult because they're unfair is a different story.

Finally had a chance to play play some Persona 2. It's good, pretty much what I expected. Is it me or does the translation seem a little off, like it was rushed or something. Also the encounter rate is super high. It doesn't bother me yet but I'm sure later in the game when I'm in one of those famous SMT mazes it'll get annoying. I imagine I'll be using the auto-attack feature quite a bit to pick up the pace.

Gah! I was wondering why no new posts. I gotta stop just going straight to my subscribed threads and seeing what's new, lol.

Anywho, remember how a while ago we had a convo about item hording in RPGs? Dark Souls is gonna be sweet for that (from the IGN review):

"There's no limit to what you can carry, for instance, so you can hold on to any dagger or bow or interesting spell in case it comes in handy hours later. "

That better mean no stupid weight limits for equip/carry weight. I hate that in games.

speaking of falling asleep...

i'm reminded of ogre battle for snes. jeez that game took forever to do anything! and they only added the in battle save for the psx version! i dunno how many times i fell asleep playing that game... or watching my brother fall asleep.

then there was the time i got to the last dungeon in xenogears and accidentally erased my save file so i had to start from the beginning. midway when you have to bust into the church and get bart's omnigear, i was playing and my cousin was watching me play. he fell asleep because he was so bored watching. then i fell asleep. now he'll never touch the game...

there was also the time i woke up mega early to get some malasadas from the hawaiian restaurant with my friend. we went over to my other friends house to go and eat them. he fired up monster hunter on the wii and started playing. i fell asleep watching him play, then my friend fell asleep... then when i woke up i noticed that the guy playing the game fell asleep.

wooooot go rpgs

I noticed a typo or 2, but otherwise it's been good. There is a ton of NPC text to translate, so I wouldn't be surprised if they had trouble getting it all done.

I HATE that. That means I going to be carrying EVERYTHING I find for the entire game. I don't remember from Demon Souls but can you sell items or break them down or something?

Inventory limits are bullshit, I hate dealing with that in Western RPGs. JRPGs never make you drop stuff, you wanna carry 99 of every item in the game, go crazy!

No, just put them in storage for later... and well since many things can be upgrading I basically put everything in storage, haha.

I thought I was "wrong" when I hated that "feature" in oblivion. I thought maybe there was something I wasn't "getting," but apparently "not".

Riviera: The Promised Land would beg to differ.
