What were they?

about how long did it take?

What did you think of it?

And what did you do with it afterwards?

What game/s are you playing next?

Jade Empire: 24 hours play time, great game. I plan to give it another playthrough eventually, as a bad guy.

MechAssault 2: Maybe 4 hours. I was pissed that it was so short. Not sure if I'll try the multiplayer, but apparently if I want some value out of this game, I'll have to.

Spider-Man 2 and Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat (56 crests and all 18 kingdoms).

Neither were very long -- less than 10 hours in both cases, although I enjoyed the games so much that I would play for the sake of playing rather than for the sake of getting closer to the ending.

Both are great games with totally engaging play mechanics. I dug the physics and abilities of Spider-Man, and I loved DKJB's bongo/combo action.

I've kept both games and expect to continue to play them -- at some point I'll probably restart Spider-Man from the beginning and try to really master it (I didn't know it kept all those stats, like number of footsteps, which of course a web-spinner should minimize), and likewise I still have 16 platinum crests to score in DKJB, which is one of the only games I have where you can play for 10 minutes and feel like you've accomplished something when that time's up. A game doesn't have to be long if it's worth coming back to.

What were they?
Beyond Good and Evil
Fable

about how long did it take?
12-15 hours each

What did you think of it?
Both easy but interesting. BGandE was addicting until the end. Fable warrants two play throughs IMO. I beat it being good, and I'm currently playing through evil.

And what did you do with it afterwards?
Fable keeping for now.
BGandE sold.

What were they? Resident Evil 4 & God of War

about how long did it take? Resident evil 4 about 3 months!(I just beat it last night:) I took my time with it, and then got GOW and went back and forth between both of them) God of war I beat last week, took about 3 weeks to beat it.

What did you think of it? I thought both games were great! Resident evil 4 was was excellent(gameplay wise) but I though the story sucked. God of War was also excellent. the story, gameplay was very good, although I did not like some of the puzzles,(IE: the underwater swimming timming puzzle, the balance beam ,with the fan blades etc.) but both were maybe the possible GOTY IMO.

And what did you do with it afterwards? Well GOW I didn't see my self replaying it, so I traded it. and RE4 I will end up replaying. And hanging on to it,for the collection.(I have the GS LE tin)

God of War. 6 and 16 hours. First I beat it on normal, and the game was pretty easy. Then I beat it on very hard, and it was pretty hard until the last boss, at which point they pulled out the razor blades and planted them firmly in my rectum.

Before that, hmm... I haven't really beat many games in a while.
Edit- seeing the post above me, I guess it was RE4. First time through it took me about 13 hours. I then played the hell out of it, beating it again in 5, and then 2.5. I also beat Assignment Ada and Mercenaries.

What were they?
Xenosaga Episode II
Phantom Brave

about how long did it take?
PB - 40 Hours
XSII - 25 Hours (Did most every side quest)

What did you think of it?
The mere fact that I bothered to beat them speaks volumes since I have so many games that I haven't complete, just soo many choices, so I finish games that I REALLY like.

XSII - Loved it. THe battle system was much improved over the one from the first, and they managed to keep cutscenes mostly under 15 minutes this time. There were dull periods where there wasn't much action, but the game was great and I can't wait for XSIII.

PB - Liked it alot. It wasn't as fun as Disgaea, but few games are. I stuck to it cause I liked the story. It was touching when the people finally accepted Marone. Among the Nippon Icci SRPGs I consider it 2nd best among the ones that i've played.

And what did you do with it afterwards?
Put them into my CD case and move onto the next game that'll more likely than not won't have time to finish. :whistle2:x

What were they? Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory Xbox & Dead II Rights 2 Xbox

about how long did it take? About 20 hours for each

What did you think of it? I enjoyed SC:CT because I love the series but it was too short in single player. DIIR2 was alright if you just like a game that you shoot until you get tired.

And what did you do with it afterwards? SC:CT playing through the Co-op mode. DIIR2 is still just sitting on my shelf at the moment.

Tekken 5 Time attack 3 mins beat that!! if that counts! Other than that it would have to be RE 4 roughly around 20 hrs since those bottle caps mini games took me awhile.

Jak 3 and Resident Evil 4.

Jak 3 took 15-20 hours (I forget) and around 1 month.
RE 4 took 20 hours and 10 days.

Jak 3 was good, but not better than Jak 2 (less driving, more platforming).
RE 4 was a great experience, really nothing I disliked.

I'm keeping them both, I like to hang on to games.

What were they?
Project: Snowblind & Area 51

about how long did it take?
9 hours and 12 hours

What did you think of it?
I don't usually play many FPSs but these were fun quintessential rentals. It was interesting how both of them played rather similarly.

And what did you do with it afterwards?
Sold them. I got them free from the game companies for press review. They WERE fun, but it's hard to refuse Ebaying them for 35-odd dollars. I might rebuy them 10 years from now as a collector.

On a side note, I'm actually creating a blog of all my game completions since I got back into gaming in 1998.

Resident Evil 4:
-Took me a little over 18 hours... but I spread that out into about two months time. I wanted to savor it's rotted flesh flavor.

-I thought it was an amazing game. The best Resident Evil title and one of the best titles in the gaming world.

-It's sitting on my shelf in my personal collection. I'm never going to sell / trade this one.

I can't remember what other recent game I've beat. :O

What were they? oni and ffx

about how long did it take? maybe 5 hrs and maybe 30 hrs (both guesses)

What did you think of it? both groundbreaking...though i had a lot of week long pauses btwn both games that made my experience with both of them not nearly as good as they couldve been...due to that, after a while, i started to forget where to go next...or what was going on in the story-line

And what did you do with it afterwards? shelfed and shelfed

What were they? ico and re4

about how long did it take? maybe 5 hrs and maybe 14 hrs (both guesses)

What did you think of it? during ico, i had a week long pause which ruined the experience for me a little...forgetting where i went and where i had to go next...and forgetting parts of the story-line

with RE4, i played that damn game non-stop....and then repeated it again...that game is just amazing, nothing more can describe it

And what did you do with it afterwards? shelfed and shelfed

I know for sure the last one for me was God of War in about 9 hours. I also beat the Challenge of the Gods. I'll probably try the highest difficulty later.

I think the other one was Metroid: Zero Mission in 3 or 4 hours (I can't remember for sure). Awesome game.

I guess Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. That game was amazing. It starts off so simple, and then I had to play through every level multiple times in attempts to get the highest combo possible. I loved its mix of very modern and innovative gameplay and old-school score based gameplay.

What were they? Doom 3 & Mafia

about how long did it take? Doom took about 10 hours and Mafia took probably about 15 hours.

What did you think of it? Doom was an awesome game. It was the first doom game i've ever played and it was really good. I though towards the end it started to drag on a little bit and i was pretty disappointed with the final boss but other than that it was a great game.

Mafia has a fantastic story line and thats what kept me playing. The gameplay was spoiled by cheap enemies and a lot of very annoying, tedious missions. It was an ok game but i was hoping it would be better.

And what did you do with it afterwards? Doom i plan on playing on xbl with shrike and joevan. Mafia i threw back in the shelf in my room.

What were they? God of War and SW Republic Commando

about how long did it take? about 9-10 Hours each

What did you think of it? God of War is the one of the best games of 2005 and one of the best available on PS2. I really enjoyed everything about it.

Republic commando was a fun title with a interesting story line and really big Wookies. I really enjoyed the team aspect of the game and the simple squad commands.

And what did you do with it afterwards? I have to play God of War again sometime. SW Republic commando really needs co-op play, would be fun to play again with a friend if co-op was available.

Also mention I beat last week, at was at the end of both titles and just stopped playing for one reason or another, Halo 2 and Star Fox Adventures. Halo 2 ending was extremely dissapointing and Star Fox ending was great the last boss kicked arse!

Currently working on and enjoying Oddworld Stranger

What were they? Manhunt and Metal Gear Solid 3

about how long did it take? Manhunt -> 20hrs
MGS3 -> 30hrs the 1st time, 15 hrs the next 2 times

What did you think of it? Manhunt -> I felt bad for enjoying all that killing.
MGS3 -> Best Metal Gear - Best PS2 game!

And what did you do with it afterwards? Manhunt -> Tried redoing some levels using cheats
MGS3 -> Beat it 2 more times for unlockables

What were they? xenosaga 2 and twisted metal 4

about how long did it take? x2 took over 40 and tw4 took like 7

What did you think of it? awesome games

And what did you do with it afterwards? i still have them

Dead to Rights (GC) - About 10-12 hours maybe(?)
Eternal Darkness (GC) - About 14 on first play through (I take my time...)

Dead to Rights was an OK run and shoot til you win game...worth the short time to beat it

Eternal Darkness is unbelievable! I LOVE it. I'm currently playing through it for the 2nd time and will beat it 3 times for the special stuff (there are 3 paths to take...) The 2nd and 3rd time through are looking like they will take around 6-8 hours each, putting total "Completist" time around 28 hours.

I'm keeping both for the collection (however small it may be...)

Fable took about 13-15 hours I think. I paid $9.99 for it and felt that I got my money's worth.

Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando took about 19 hours. I had a blast with this one. Looking forward to playing the rest of the series.

What were they?
MGS3
FFX

About how long did it take?
MGS3 took around 15 hours
FFX took......over 40 hours, dont remember exactly, beat it a while ago

What did you think of it?
Both great games

And what did you do with it afterwards?
FFX is sitting next to my other games.
MGS3 got traded for persona2, going to buy it again when it drops to $20

Last game beat: GTA: San Andreas

Time to beat: very near the 100 hour mark. I was intent on totally conquering this game before i finished the final mission.

Love or hate: Absolutely fricking loved! It had everything that the previous GTA ps2 games were lacking. I never finished GTA3 or Vice CIty, but San Andreas was such a complete package that I couldn't stop playing.

Toss or Keep: Absolutely keep and continue playing.

Jade Empire and Fable

Jade Empire = 22 hourts
Fable = 13 hours

Jade Empire: Wow the characters felt so fleshed out. Bomb story and I realyl enhoyed the fighting engine because I was getting tired of turn based RPGs

Fable: I never followed Fable before, so I went in without the hype machine or without knowing too much about the game. Damn it was fun, I was bad because I was good all through Jade Empire....nothing like taking it to some villagers cause the disrespect.

After:
Jade Empire: Giving it a break for a bit, gonna beat it while ebgin bad/neutral when good games stop coming out. Seems liek every other week a AAA game is coming out.

Fable: Finishing up sidequests, more killing innocent villagers

Epilogue:
Burnout 3 and Def Jam Fight For NY.........BOTH GAMES ARE AWESOME

What were they?
Jade Empire and Rogue Squadron III

about how long did it take?

Jade Empire was about 21 hours
Rogue Squadron was I dunno, 2 hours at most

What did you think of it?

Jade Empire was amazingly fun on the closed fist path, the ending was something to marvel at.
Rogue Squadron III , whoever thought ground missions were needed in this space shooter should be dragged out into the street and shot like a dog, would have preferred longer space missions in their place.

And what did you do with it afterwards?

Jade Empire : Started over as an Open Palm character
Rogue Squadron III : Threw it in the pile with my other games.

What were they?
Burnout 3 - Crash Mode w/all golds
Star Wars: KOTOR II

About how long did it take?
Burnout 3 - 12 hours gameplay, played sporatically over 7 months

KOTOR II - 52 hours over about 3 weeks

What did you think of it?
Burnout 3 - one of the best racing games of all time. My gf and I would take turns, which was a lot of fun. My copy (PS2) was buggy, though, as one track would freeze almost every time I crashed in it. I turned off that damn Stryker guy about 5 hours in.

KOTOR II - the first game was one of my favorites of all time. This had many of the same problems (backtracking, lots of loading, stiff graphics), but the story was great. It had me pondering everyone's motivation and fate the whole way through, and was impossible to put down near the end. The bummer is I didn't think there was enough payoff at the end -- though I won't say any more. It too was buggy -- like showing you standing there before going to a cutscene.

And what did you do with it afterwards?
They've both been taken off my 25 game playing-or-most-likely-to-play shelf and relegated
to my 200 may-play shelf. I won't be getting rid of either one.

As for me personally, I think I'll chill with a time-killing game for a while, though my pile is large (Jade Empire, God of War), so I can concentrate on getting into better shape for my September wedding. Plus, E3 is going to dominate my life for the next week and a half.

congrats on your upcomming wedding

What were they?
timesplitters: future perfect & project snowblind

about how long did it take?
about 10 hours apiece (give or take an hour)

What did you think of it?
i give ts:fp a 8 out of 10 for it's smooth gameplay and humor
project snowblind receives a 7 out of 10 b/c it feels a little too "confined" and it wasn't fun unless you utilized the huge variety of weapons.

And what did you do with it afterwards?
ts:fp was traded in for credit and project snowblind was returned (rental)

What were they?
Zelda: Minish Cap
MGS3

About how long did it take?
Zelda - no idea, it took weeks b/c I played in small spurts
MGS3 - 20 hours I think

What did you think of it?
Zelda: Minish Cap - I loved this game. It took me back to old school Zelda games like LttP. I wish they would have expanded on the Minish aspect but other than that I thought the difficulty and playtime were perfect.

MSG3 - Incredible game. It took a while to get used to not having radar but in the end I felt that made the game more immersive. This is the best MGS game in the series, IMO, and the easiest storyline to follow (it actually made sense!)

And what did you do with it afterwards?
Back in the milkcrates for both of 'em.
congrats on your upcomming wedding
Thanks much. It's a lot of work, but a good woman makes it worth it.

Wrestlemania 21 and Jade Empire

Wrestlemania took me a few hours, Jade Empire took me around 20.

Wrestlemania wasn't bad but a little short, Jade Empire was great and really fun

I play singles matches in Wrestlemania every now and then, probably going to play it on Live sometime. I plan to play through Jade Empire again with the LE character.

Bump - I just want to hear more responses. This is a really interesting thread considering how often we hear about good games but the truly great ones are those we stick around to finish.

What were they?
Gradius V
SMT: Nocturne

about how long did it take?
Gradius V - not sure of exact playthrough time, but it took a couple months on and off-
SMT: Nocturne - about 90 hrs. over a month-

What did you think of it?
Gradius V - great game, worth playing through on the hardest difficulty-
SMT: Nocturne - awesome RPG, one of the best I've played-

And what did you do with it afterwards?
I put both back on the shelf, but plan to play Nocturne again soon.

Doom 3 and RE4

Doom was short but i have no idea the hour length. RE4 took about 14 hours i think

Both were awesome. RE4 had a bit of a learnig curve but once it was overcome, the game was pretty easy. Doom 3 is spooky and probably the fastest paced online multi-player i've ever played.

What were they?
Katamari Damacy.
Sonic Mega Collection Plus (essentially played through a bunch of games on it, really .. )

about how long did it take?
Katamari Damacy was pretty short. Total of maybe 4 - 5 hours. Sonic Mega Collection, I beat one Sonic game per day. I think 2 hours per game was about right.

What did you think of it?
KD pwnz. I loved it. The music was catchy, and the last level was just hilarious, sucking up islands and continents.
SMCP was cool, too. Definitely had a lot of nostalgia. I haven't unlocked Ristar yet, but I really would like to. It was my favorite thing to play back when I had Sega Channel.

And what did you do with it afterwards?
They're both in my shelf right now, taking up space.

My most recent two completed games:
Fire Emblem (GBA) -> about a month to finish
- great strategy game and good story

Legend of Zelda : Link to the Past (GBA) -> about a week to finish
- very fun game

Jade Empire

-great game, engrossing story.. still need to play through again

Psychonauts

-amazing game, wildly imaginative and creative. The industry needs more games like this.

What were they?
Unreal Championship 2, Doom 3

about how long did it take?
Still unlocking stuff, 13 Hours

What did you think of it?
Very Fast Paced good action, Doom 3 was weak.

And what did you do with it afterwards?
Played online, Sold Doom 3 for $45.

Onimusha 3 + pilotwings 64 (again!)

Onimusha 3 took 12 hours and I am not sure about pilotwings. It was a gradual thing.
